Kate Middleton, 36, made history when she married Prince William, 35, as a non-royal woman in 2011.

The couple, who met at St Andrew’s University, tied the knot after knowing one another for more than 10 years.

In a romantic gesture, Prince William proposed to his wife-to-be with his late mother Princess Diana’s engagement ring from Prince Charles.

Diana picked the ring out of a Garrads catalogue in February 1981, which was in itself a first, as most royal rings are specially commissioned.

When Prince William gave the ring to his bride-to-be in 2010 on a trip to Africa, some gave the ring a cruel name.

Reportedly the ring was dubbed “Commoner’s Sapphire,” because Kate Middleton came from a family that does not have royal roots.

However, despite the unkind words, Kate has flourished in her royal role.

Now the Duchess of Cambridge is very soon to give birth to her third royal baby.

Prince William said of the ring: “Obviously, she’s not going to be around to share in any of the fun and excitement of it all, so this is my way of keeping her sort of close to it all.”

The sapphire ring is ringed with 14 diamonds and is set on 18 carat gold.

When the ring was bought for Diana it cost £28,500, which is the equivalent of £100,252.37 in today’s money.

Now Kate Middleton’s engagement ring is valued at over £300,000. The average cost of an engagement ring from a specialist jeweller is £3,000. 

Prince Harry also incorporated his mother in his engagement, by using some of the diamonds from her personal collection.

Meghan Markle’s engagement ring featured one large central diamond from Botswana, which was flanked by two diamonds reportedly from a brooch that belonged to Diana. 

Royal engagement rings are always beautiful, thanks to the Royal Family’s access to enormous funds.

The daughter of the polygamist cult leader Warren Jeffs spoke out on “Megyn Kelly Today” about her upbringing as a member of the FLDS Church and the sexual abuse she suffered at the hands of her father when she was a child.

Rachel Jeffs, who also details the abuse in an upcoming book titled “Breaking Free,” told Kelly in an interview that aired Friday that her father abused her “way more times than I can count,” starting with an incident that occurred when she was eight years old.

“Very shockingly, father started abusing me sexually, first presenting what a man looked like to me as a child, and then he started sexually abusing me as a young child,” Jeffs said. “It was so against his teachings, so against what he had taught us that I didn’t even know what to think, and I just felt terrible. I didn’t know why he was doing it.”

Jeffs said she eventually told her mother about the abuse when she was 10 years old, and though her mother confronted Warren Jeffs, the abuse continued. He would even bring her to bookstores and force her to look at pornographic images, Jeffs said.

“I just remember thinking if my father’s doing this and the world is wickeder, are the world’s fathers even worse than this?” Jeffs said. “I remember thinking, ‘Well, maybe I should be grateful that it’s only this bad.'”

Eventually, when she grew older, Jeffs’ father arranged for her to marry a 25-year-old man who already had two wives, and whom she had only met one day before their wedding. Jeffs said her father brought her into his office on the morning of the wedding and told her to ask her husband to give her a baby later that night, which she said she didn’t do because she didn’t feel ready.

“He said, ‘I want you to ask for a baby tonight. I want you to ask your husband for a baby tonight. I want you to get close fast.’ I had a hard time, and I was like, ‘Do I have to?’ and he said, ‘Yes, I want you to do this. Promise me,'” Jeffs said.

Jeffs said although her husband was kind, their polygamist marriage was “difficult.” There was intense rivalry between the “sister wives,” which only heightened over the years as more women joined the marriage, she said.

“A lot of jealousy and bad feelings. You want your husband to be your best friend, but you feel as if he’s always turning against you,” Jeffs said. “At the same time, my sister wives did not enjoy me coming into the family. They felt like my husband loved me more than them, and so they treated me badly.”

When Kelly asked Jeffs about the nature of her sexual relationship with her husband, Jeffs replied that sex with polygamist men was “very much” a one-sided affair.

“I think that’s how polygamist men are, because they’re just so used to pleasing themselves. They’re like the king in the house and the wives are just their servants,” she said.

Yet Warren Jeffs has maintained his grip over the FLDS Church to this day, sending the members increasingly strict and bizarre rules they had to follow, according to Rachel Jeffs. While many of the rules concerned the members’ clothing and food, Jeffs said her father would also dole out punishments to members he believed had committed sins.

The punishment that pushed Jeffs over the edge — and eventually prompted her to abandon the church — was when her father sent her to live apart from her children for seven months because he believed that she had had sex with her husband while she was pregnant.

“The more I said I didn’t, the more he accused us,” Jeffs said. “And I felt that he was punishing me for what he did to me. Like he was trying to break me and make me feel like I was worse than him. And I wouldn’t let myself go there. I knew he had done wrong, and I didn’t want to let him break me.”

After years and years of waiting for an adaptation of Stephen King‘s epic series, The Dark Tower is now only days away from opening in theaters. Will general audiences jump right into King’s bizarre fantasy world? It’s currently on track to make somewhere around $ 25 million this weekend, but the accessibility of the story seemed to be a concern throughout the making of the film, leading to a series of creative clashes between the filmmakers and executives at Sony.

According to Variety, when director Nikolaj Arcel (A Royal Affair) turned in an early cut of the film, Sony Pictures chief Tom Rothman and the co-founder of MRC, Modi Wiczyk, considered bringing in another filmmaker to re-cut the movie. Both Rothman and Wiczyk denied this, telling Variety they only offered notes. At one point, a cut of the film reportedly ran over two and a half hours. Now, it’s been stripped to the bone to a lean 88-minute runtime.

The story claims Rothman spent hours in the editing room making suggestions. Variety writes Rothman and MRC didn’t bring in another filmmaker because it would’ve been too expensive. They also suggest The Dark Tower was a case of too many cooks in the kitchen.

MRC had “kill rights” on the marketing to the final cut. When it came to advertising materials, MRC and Sony had to both agree on what to use. If either Sony or MRC didn’t like a cut of the film, it got scrapped. Another strong voice in the mix was King’s, who had the power to veto creative decisions.

Producers Ron Howard (who was set to direct the film when it was at Universal) and Akiva Goldsman remained very involved as well. After some underwhelming test screenings, Howard offered notes on music and Goldsman tried to help get the movie into the right shape. In a statement to Variety, Arcel said he felt only supported throughout the making of The Dark Tower:

On a film with two studios and powerful producers, obviously there is much passionate creative debate on how to work certain ideas or beats. But I felt supported throughout, and they all looked to me for answers. If someone had jumped into my editing room and taken over — I would have left instantly.

Modi Wiczyk also issued this statement:

We shot this on time and on budget. We didn’t go over our schedule by even a day. We would never marginalize or remove a director or dare to edit a film.

Last October, there were three test screenings of the $ 66 million fantasy film. Audiences were left confused by the world. After the poor reactions to the movie, $ 6 million was spent on reshoots to provide more backstory for Roland (Idris Elba) and the Man in Black’s (Matthew McConaughey) relationship. Five minutes of exposition was cut, too, and a new scene was shot to bring together ideas from the rest of the movie. We’ve heard these reshoots were a little more extensive than that, with the ending undergoing some tinkering as well. Critics have yet to see the final cut of the movie, but one person who’s been supportive all along, King, is a fan of the adaptation. After seeing The Dark Tower, he told Arcel “You have remembered the faces of your fathers,” quoting a phrase from the source material.

The Dark Tower opens in theaters on August 4.
