What is it they say about the best laid plans… they destroy your chances of winning reality TV shows? Or are we remembering that wrong?

On Wednesday’s episode of The Challenge, new Double Agents Jay and Theresa set their crosshairs on a major female competitor, and while they did successfully take out their target, they burned a whooole lot of bridges to get there. (Points for accuracy, head shakes for execution.) Here are the highlights of how it all went down.

Having made friends with the new female rookies, Theresa plays both sides of the house. While Aneesa may be in the dark on her friend’s sneaky moves, Nany sees right through it, and based on their complicated history, she doesn’t trust Theresa for a second. Lolo calls out Theresa for throwing her friend Aneesa into elimination last week, and tells her that the entire house sees her shadiness. Theresa keeps cutting the Olympian off, which infuriates Lolo, who advises her to have some conversations and do some damage control.

Meanwhile, Lio discusses how the stress of the house triggers his childhood feelings of living in a group home. He ultimately decides to quit. TJ, who’s notorious for hating quitters, surprisingly says he respects Lio’s decision, because the players’ health is more important than competing. (My, how 2020 has changed us all!) Despite Lio’s reasoning, It’s hard not to be bummed out at the amount of players who’ve been sent home for injuries, quits and the like. Can we have some more actual eliminations please?

CHALLENGE ACTIVATED | In Smuggle Run, duos must carry a heavy capsule on a five-mile race with checkpoints to complete along the way. Since Gabby and Devin are both without partners, they become a new team.

Many of the weaker duos start to struggle early on in this challenge, with Big T more or less proving she will never be able to handle a final.

At the first checkpoint, teams must push the capsule through a hole in a wall and use it to climb over. The next is a math puzzle, and while ex-cheerleader/brainiac Ashley is in her element for both, Theresa and Jay wind up taking the lead and winning the entire challenge! Not bad for a small-statured duo that isn’t even close to being some of the bigger competitors this season.

The Challenge Double Agents TheresaDELIBERATION | Back at the house, Theresa tells Ashley she wants to “f–k some bitches up,” and like clockwork, Ashley’s paranoia takes ahold. But this woman’s a winner for a reason because her hunch is spot-on: Theresa vies for the entire house to vote Ashley into elimination. (Guess she doesn’t want to get her own skull? Odd choice.)

At the house meeting, Ashley defends her spot, telling the guys that if they keep all the weak girls until the end, it could come back to bite them in the final. The house votes, and the Double Agents learn the compromised agents are indeed Ashley and Cory.

THE CRATER | TJ calls Ash and Cory down to the sand, and the two are blindsided. Cory calls everyone snakes, while Ashley says, “Everyone lied straight to our faces, TJ. I don’t know who I can trust anymore in this game.” It comes time for the Double Agents to vote another team down, and they choose Kam and Kyle… whom Theresa and Jay specifically promised they wouldn’t pick. That is some sloppy social game right there, folks!

TJ then throws everyone a curveball. “Tonight is a very important elimination round, especially for the men,” he says, causing everyone to react in shock, before continuing, “… to watch their partners.” Man, even TJ is being shady as hell this week! Something’s in that Icelandic water, I tell you.

In Dead Ringer, Kam and Ashley start on raised podiums. The aim of the game is to swing their way around to land six metal rings on hooks all around them. The horn blows and both women seem to struggle with getting momentum, but Kam figures it out quickly and lands her first two rings. Once Ashley gets her groove going, it’s too little, too late: “Killa Kam” seals the deal, earns her coveted Gold Skull and sends Ashley home for the second time this season.

Theresa calls this whole shebang a plan that was executed, but what she and Jay really did was piss off the entire house. And Jay knows it. In an interview, he already seems to have regret for their stupid, rookie-level move.

Kam then has her pick of all the gents, but decides to stay with her buddy Kyle. Cory remains a Rogue Agent.

Tell us, Challenge fans: How screwed are Jay and Theresa going forward, and were you rooting for Killa Kam or Millionaire Mitchell in the elimination battle? Drop your comments below!

Dancing With the Stars Recap: Who Was Eliminated From Season 29 First? https://briefnews.eu/dancing-with-the-stars-recap-who-was-eliminated-from-season-29-first/ https://briefnews.eu/dancing-with-the-stars-recap-who-was-eliminated-from-season-29-first/#respond Wed, 23 Sep 2020 07:38:20 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/dancing-with-the-stars-recap-who-was-eliminated-from-season-29-first/

RELATED STORIES

Dancing With the Stars aired on a different night for its second week of competition, but the result was the same: One unlucky couple got the boot, bidding farewell to the Season 29 ballroom and its phantom crowd noises.

In the meantime, host Tyra Banks pulled off yet another costume change (for reasons I’m not sure I understand), the judges introduced their first “8” of the season (and so soon!), and we learned that when these contestants aren’t performing, they’re doing a lot of texting from the rafters.

Before we get to the season’s first results, here are some quick thoughts on Tuesday’s performances:

Nev Schulman and pro Jenna Johnson (Cha-Cha): For the second week in a row, Nev showed off perhaps the most effortless technical skill of any contestant, easily matching Jenna step for step. But for all his natural dance talent, Nev’s a bit lacking in personality when he hits the ballroom floor, opting for one very big smile even when the performance calls for a little sass or attitude. Judges’ Score: 21/30

Skai Jackson and pro Alan Bersten (Samba): Oof. Poor Skai, y’all. After crushing it with her Premiere Night tango last week, Skai seemed out of sync with Alan very early on in this samba, and the whole thing nearly fell apart when the pair missed a lift completely. But despite those wobbly moments, I was impressed by Skai’s ability to pull herself together and finish the routine strong — no small feat on live television, especially for a young performer. Judges’ Score: 15/30

Johnny Weir and pro Britt Stewart (Tango): A tango set to Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face” seemed like the perfect combination for Johnny this week, but something still isn’t connecting just yet. Perhaps it’s the transition from an ice rink to a ballroom floor, but there’s a choppiness in Johnny’s movements that’s currently holding him back. Judges’ Score: 18/30

Justina Machado and pro Sasha Farber (Foxtrot): Justina is so good at ballroom dancing that I’m already emotionally preparing myself for her premature, unjust elimination in three weeks. Judges’ Score: 21/30

DWTS Season 29Monica Aldama and pro Val Chmerkovskiy (Jive, pictured): Monica is typically stoic in her work as a cheerleading coach, so it was especially fun to see her act a bit in this routine. But we all know Monica’s capable of mastering tricky steps, and Val didn’t give her nearly enough full-blown jive choreography to really show what she can do. Judges’ Score: 16/30

AJ McLean and pro Cheryl Burke (Foxtrot): AJ’s footwork was smooth, and those knee slides toward the end were a delight. Now, he just needs to work on his face, which has been frozen in a surprised expression for both of his performances thus far. Judges’ Score: 19/30

Anne Heche and pro Keo Motsepe (Foxtrot): I genuinely believe Anne is having the time of her life in the ballroom, and she seems committed to implementing the judges’ critiques. But as much as I hate to say it, I could not remember a single moment of this routine after it was over. Judges’ Score: 18/30

Nelly and pro Daniella Karagach (Cha-Cha): Nelly is hands-down the most pleasant surprise of this season so far; even when his execution isn’t perfect, there’s a charm and swagger there that none of the other contestants possess. I do wish, though, that Daniella would have challenged him more with actual cha-cha content. Nelly seems to have a decent grasp on choreography, and he can do more than the fun filler. Judges’ Score: 18/30

Chrishell Stause and pro Gleb Savchenko (Rumba): Chrishell still seems to have tons of potential, so I hope voters give her a chance to show it after last week’s shaky debut. This rumba was a massive improvement In both footwork and emotion… though I wasn’t expecting so much sultry chemistry from a dance set to The Greatest Showman‘s “This Is Me.” Judges’ Score: 18/30

Charles Oakley and pro Emma Slater (Cha-Cha): Any other contestant visibly counting the “cha-cha-cha”s aloud during their routine might be off-putting… but in Charles’ case, I just found it completely precious. And his performance quality improved week over week, too! Judges’ Score: 15/30

Jesse Metcalfe and pro Sharna Burgess (Foxtrot): The chemistry between Jesse and Sharna is completely magnetic, and I was relieved to see how much elegance he brought to this foxtrot… but that permanently furrowed brow still needs relaxing, especially in a style that’s meant to be light and airy. Judges’ Score: 20/30

Jeannie Mai and pro Brandon Armstrong (Cha-Cha): No contestant pulls better sassy faces during their dances than Jeannie, which is frankly half the battle of these early weeks. But Jeannie’s also learning to rein in her high-energy movements, resulting in footwork that was still a little wobbly, but much less so, this time around. Judges’ Score: 18/30

DWTS Carole BaskinCarole Baskin and pro Pasha Pashkov (Viennese Waltz, pictured): When Tuesday’s episode began, did you expect Carole Baskin to score higher than Skai Jackson? No, you did not! But after a so-so showing with last week’s paso doble, Carole delivered a Viennese waltz that was much more relaxed and confident than her previous routine. The only question is: How many more cat-related songs will Carole be saddled with this season? Judges’ Score: 16/30

Vernon Davis and pro Peta Murgatroyd (Paso Doble): I always appreciate when a male amateur dancer can commit to the paso doble’s intensity without looking cartoonishly angry, which is a balance that Vernon struck nicely during this routine. Unfortunately, even though he mastered the mood of the performance, Vernon’s limbs were rarely where they needed to be, particularly his arms that stuck out at awkward angles throughout the number. Judges’ Score: 18/30

Kaitlyn Bristowe and pro Artem Chigvintsev (Foxtrot): Oh, man, this performance was pretty. (And not just because of the lighting, though Kaitlyn looks fabulous in rose gold.) Many a foxtrot was performed on Tuesday night, but none with the gorgeous extensions that Kaitlyn had — and none with the same drama of Kaitlyn’s potentially injured ankle, which was teased all night long, only for the couple to perform without incident. Judges’ Score: 22/30

And now, the results:

COUPLES IN JEOPARDY
Carole Baskin and pro Pasha Pashkov
Charles Oakley and pro Emma Slater

SAVED BY JUDGES
Carole Baskin and pro Pasha Pashkov (saved by Carrie Ann and Derek)

ELIMINATED
Charles Oakley and pro Emma Slater

Dancing on Ice: Maura Higgins eliminated despite Ben Hanlin tipped to exit?  https://briefnews.eu/dancing-on-ice-maura-higgins-eliminated-despite-ben-hanlin-tipped-to-exit/ https://briefnews.eu/dancing-on-ice-maura-higgins-eliminated-despite-ben-hanlin-tipped-to-exit/#respond Sun, 09 Feb 2020 04:44:30 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/dancing-on-ice-maura-higgins-eliminated-despite-ben-hanlin-tipped-to-exit/

Since returning to ITV, the 2020 series of Dancing on Ice has seen many bumps, scrapes and tears as the celebrity contestants take to the ice week after week in a bid to win. This evening, when the ice skating competition airs, it will be the last time one pair will perform. According to OddsMonkey, it seems Maura Higgins is going to exit next despite other bookmakers predictions.

Last weekend, Kevin Kilbane and professional ice skating partner Brianne Delcourt faced Ian ‘H’ Watkins and his professional ice skating partner Matt Evers in the skate-off.

However, the four judges, Ashley Banjo, John Barrowman, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean decided to save Ian and Kevin was therefore eliminated from the competition.

Upon his exit, Kevin said: “I didn’t need to come on the show and I knew from the start it was going to be a great run and we always said it would be great to make it to our birthday weekend and we have.”

As for who is going to be following in his footsteps and be the sixth to leave the show, OddsMonkey has taken a look at each celebrity contestant’s Instagram followings to predict who is currently the least favourite with online fans.

At the end of last month, OddsMonkey suggested Caprice Bourret would be eliminated.

While she didn’t get booted out of the competition, she did leave on her own accord after pulling out of the show.

This weekend, the bookmakers are tipping magician Ben Hanlin as next to leave, but OddsMonkey think it will be Love Island star Maura Higgins who actually exits.

OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton said: “Once again the departure from Dancing on Ice could be tracked to their Social Media following with Kevin Kilbane voted off. Caprice had seen the lowest increase percentage wise, but once she walked out – it was Kilbane, who was voted off by the public.

However, one person who is probably going to avoid the bottom two is Libby Clegg MBE.

She, once again, sits top with 12.47 percent increase from week five, having added 1,219 followers to her account.

“In terms of the winner and Perri looks unbeatable, and Social Media wise he had his best week since the show began,” Peter explained.

The Diversity dancer had a 3.26 percent increase in Instagram followers since last week, while not the highest out of all contestants, he is popular with fans.

Tonight’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! saw Adele Roberts booted out of the jungle after she lost the public vote. The Radio 1 DJ explained she wasn’t too disappointed to be leaving as she reflected on her time in the jungle and revealed the biggest “problem” with the show.

Speaking to Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly after her elimination, Adele laughed: “I feel like at least I’m first at something, I’ll take it, it’s fine.”

Of what she has learned and why she went into the jungle she said: “Just to challenge myself and stop being scared of doing things, I was frightened of how it would go but just got to give it a go and see what happens.

“I feel like I’m stronger than I realised. There’s so many things I can do.

“Things like seeing a spider in a bath won’t faze me now.”

However, she would like to see Nadine go on to win the series and even explained how they knew each other before the show started.

“Yeah I randomly met her in a club in Dublin before Big Brother and Girls Aloud,” Adele said.

“We met, hit it off and never saw each other again until this.”

Tonight’s vote didn’t go down well with viewers as before Adele was booted out the camp, Ant revealed the votes from the app would not be counted.

Canada's Bianca Andreescu was eliminated from the Australian Open on Thursday, dropping her second-round match 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 to Anastasija Sevastova of Latvia.

The loss halted a solid start to the 2019 tennis season for the 18-year-old from Mississauga, Ont., who was coming off her first final appearance at a WTA tournament two weeks ago.

Andreescu looked rejuvenated after a brief rain delay in the second set against Sevastova, coming back to break her opponent to go up 5-3 then holding serve.

Andreescu started strong with a break in the third set, but the 28-year-old Sevastova recovered with three breaks of her own for the match.

WATCH | Sevastova power past Andreescu:

Bianca Andreescu of Mississauga, Ontario saw her January to remember come to a close with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 defeat to Latvia's Anastasija Sevastova. 1:36

Andreescu had 49 unforced errors to Sevastova's 33 throughout the match, which lasted two hours 14 minutes.

Sevastova, the 13th seed at the tournament, converted on 5-of-15 break points. Andreescu was 3-for-11 on break points won.

  • Simplehuman products are designed to make everyday tasks as easy as possible; they employ a no-frills, all-function design that just happens to look great.
  • The brand backs their hardware with a five-year warranty and has excellent customer service (I know — I had questions!)
  • Installing Simplehuman pull-out racks takes all of 10 minutes and will save you untold hours searching about in pantry shelves over the years to come.

When my wife and I were designing our kitchen a couple years back, we opted for matching cabinets flanking either side of the fridge. In one of these cabinets, we chose shelving with built-in pull-out drawers; on the other side, we stuck with just the shelves. The logic was that we would use each side of the pantry area differently. The other part of the logic was that basic shelves cost several hundred dollars less than slide-out hardware. And thus it was that for about two years, one side of our pantry remained well-organized, easy to access, and was generally pleasant to use, while the other became a morass of half-empty chip bags, loose batteries, forgotten snack bars, expired condiments, and so forth.

  • The BetterBack (as seen on “Shark Tank”) is a $ 59 posture corrector that has completely eliminated any back pain I usually experience while sitting at a desk.
  • I have two slipped discs in my spine and suffer from chronic back pain. I’ve tried plenty of treatments and products, but this is the only one that has worked.
  • If you have any sort of back pain or posture problems from sitting at a desk all day, this product is actually worth your money.

Take it from someone with two slipped discs in her spine — sitting at a desk all day is no walk in the park. In fact, sometimes my back is in so much pain that an actual walk in the park is no walk in the park, either.

RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars: 10th Queen Revealed in Season Premiere — Plus, Who Was Eliminated First? https://briefnews.eu/rupauls-drag-race-all-stars-10th-queen-revealed-in-season-premiere-plus-who-was-eliminated-first/ https://briefnews.eu/rupauls-drag-race-all-stars-10th-queen-revealed-in-season-premiere-plus-who-was-eliminated-first/#respond Fri, 26 Jan 2018 02:29:12 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/rupauls-drag-race-all-stars-10th-queen-revealed-in-season-premiere-plus-who-was-eliminated-first/ From a surprise queen-testant to a bonkers new set of rules, Thursday’s season premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars gave viewers plenty to gag on.

Let’s start with that last-minute addition to the competition: Along with the previously announced queens vying for the crown in Season 3 — Aja, BenDeLaCreme, Chi Chi DeVayne, Kennedy Davenport, Milk, Morgan McMichaels, Shangela, Thorgy Thor and Trixie Mattel — RuPaul revealed that Drag Race Season 1 winner BeBe Zahara Benet would be joining the fray.

As for the new, semi-controversial set of rules, here’s how things work in Season 3: After each competition, the two top-scoring queens will face off in a lip-sync battle, with the winner deciding which of the bottom two queens will be sent home. (Savage, I know.)

Following a fierce battle set to Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda,” BenDeLaCreme — who also won the premiere’s reading challenge — bested Aja and chose to send Morgan McMichaels packing. But since premieres are all about first impressions, let’s discuss how the queens presented themselves this week:

AJA| Easily the biggest surprise of the premiere, Aja has grown by leaps and bounds — and lips and cheeks and a new chin, apparently — since placing ninth in Season 9. Once criticized (by me) for her low-energy performances, Aja put her damn all into this talent show (that double-decker death drop!) and even gave BenDeLaCreme a run for her money in the lip-sync battle. I went into the premiere wondering whether Aja truly deserved to compete as an “all star,” but by the end of the 90-minute opener, I was sold.

BEBE ZAHARA BENET | She might not be the queen I was expecting to appear behind Door No. 1, but BeBe is an absolute forced to be reckoned with, and I kind of love how effortlessly she intimidates the competition. A few of the queens dismissed BeBe — I believe “Sit down, grandma!” was Milk’s reaction to her arrival — but they’d be wise not to underestimate her.

RuPaul's Drag Race All StarsBENDELACREME| I was rooting for this queen the second I spotted that Judghead crown on her head, so I was thrilled to watch her win both of this week’s challenges. At the risk of politicizing Drag Race, it’s nice to see someone with BenDeLaCreme’s respectful attitude (“I’m here to show that you can win with kindness and integrity”) being rewarded for her efforts.

CHI CHI DEVAYNE| From the moment she stepped onto the runway (sans padding!) in those jazz flats, Chi Chi’s spot in the bottom two was a done deal. Let’s not even discuss the baton twirling.

KENNEDY DAVENPORT| I crown thee Queen of the High Kicks™. That is all.

MILK| This overzealous queen opened the premiere by bragging about her “outside-the-carton” way of thinking, which she followed up with a mid-level runway presentation. If I’d been in Ru’s shoes, I might have reserved a spot in the bottom two for Milk, likely sparing Morgan McMichaels.

MORGAN MCMICHAELS| Speaking of Morgan, she was another queen who talked a big game (“You can’t kill evil that easily!”), but ultimately failed to live up to her own hype. Still, I don’t think she belonged in the bottom.

SHANGELA| You’d think Miz Laquifa Wadley would have been given an honorary spot in the Drag Race Hall of Fame by now, but it seems the Powers That Be are making her earn it. Shangela’s haters (aka Milk) are out in full force, but judging from that sick performance she gave at the talent show, she doesn’t have anything to worry about — at least for a few weeks. Third time’s the charm, right?

THORGY THOR| Yes violin! Yes Phyllis Diller wig! Yes jumpsuit! Honestly, what else is there to say?

TRIXIE MATTEL| I loved everything Trixie put out this week, from her shady opening line (“There’s nobody here — it’s like a Morgan McMichaels meet and greet!”) to her hysterical (and haunting!) performance about humanity’s inevitable march towards death. Brava!

VANESSA HUDGENS | I think it’s great that Hudgens is “really into voguing right now,” but if I’m being honest, I would have given the win to the pork chop. (I don’t know what that was, by the way, but I loved it.)

Project Runway All Stars Premiere: Which Designer Was Eliminated First? https://briefnews.eu/project-runway-all-stars-premiere-which-designer-was-eliminated-first/ https://briefnews.eu/project-runway-all-stars-premiere-which-designer-was-eliminated-first/#respond Fri, 05 Jan 2018 03:09:42 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/project-runway-all-stars-premiere-which-designer-was-eliminated-first/ Sixteen defeated designers returned to the workroom Thursday for the sixth season of Project Runway All Stars to take one more shot at success — and a few shots at one another along the way.

The premiere event pitted eight former All Stars — Anthony Williams, Carlos Casanova, Ari South, Joshua McKinley, Melissa Fleis, Fabio Costa, Ken Laurence and Helen Castillo — against eight newcomers — Kimberly Goldson, Amanda Valentine, Stanley Hudson, Charketa “Char” Glover, Merline Labissiere, Candice Cuoco, Edmond Newton and Kelly Dempsey — for what host Alyssa Milano assured them would be the only team challenge of the season. (I swear, Milano, if you’re lying to us…)

Following a rowdy fashion-related relay challenge, the rookies were tasked with designing a “fierce!” fall collection, while the veterans were given an equally “fierce!” spring collection to create. It wasn’t the most exciting premiere — for a major team challenge, there was surprisingly little designer-on-designer conflict — but as always, it gave us a pretty good idea of what to expect from the rest of the season.

Merline’s look (pictured left) scored the season’s first big win, while Casanova’s (pictured right) earned him the season’s first elimination:

Project Runway All Stars

“We had major issues with the choices you made this week,” Milano told Casanova before giving him the boot, reminding him that he’s done this before and that there’s “no excuse” for this kind of work. (Ouch.)
