He continued: “I for one could not imagine a day when Britain’s Got Talent would be without Simon Cowell.” Dabbing at his eyes with a tissue, David joked: “These are not tears of sadness, they’re tears of joy.” Going on to mock the Royal Family, the comedian laughed: “Even the closest members have had to stay away two metres away from. “Something me and Philip have bee doing since…well, how old is Edward?” Riverdale’s Mob boss and Veronica (Camila Mendes)’s dad Hiram Lodge (played by Mark Consuelos) is always up to no good. Whether he’s getting a prison to produce his drugs for the town’s teens or chasing down his daughter’s beloved sweetheart Archie Andrews (KJ Apa), when there’s something dodgy going on in Riverdale, most people would bet money on him being involved. So to keep his empire growing and to ensure he stays out of prison, Hiram needs a good attorney – who comes in the shape of Mr Sowerberry. Paul Sowerberry is played by Lane Edwards in Riverdale season 4. Lane has previously appeared in Smallville, Falling Skies, Supernatural, Heartbeat, The Good Doctor and Redemption. Mr Sowerberry is the attorney of Hiram Lodge, who ironically ended up incarcerated in his own prison in season 3. Veronica, with the help of boyfriend Archie, came up with a plan to take down her dad and managed to get him arrested by Sheriff FP Jones (Skeet Ulrich). READ MORE: Riverdale season 4, episode 3 promo: What will happen in Dog Day Af… Despite being thrown in the Lodge Detention Centre for his misdeeds, Hiram was already scheming and planning his revenge against his enemies. Hiram is going to be taking aim at his family including his now estranged wife Hermione Lodge (Marisol Nichols) after she went against his plans to privatise Riverdale and essentially run the town himself. Season three was definitely a turning point in the marriage between Hiram and Hermione, with the latter only sticking with the mafia kingpin out of fear. Both of them were also having affairs – Hermoine was seeing Minetta while Hiram was keeping his mistress Ms Mulwray (Kelly Ripa) at the Five Seasons. Consuelos and Ripa are actually married in real life, helping to make their on-screen romance even more realistic. At the end of season three, Hiram was told by one of the guards of Hermoine’s arrest after evidence had been planted to take her down. READ MORE: Riverdale: How did Harold Cooper die in Riverdale? How did Hal die? He also hinted he would be seeking revenge on his daughter since she helped to put him in prison. Who is Mr Sowerberry in Riverdale?

Back in 2010, director Gareth Edwards arrived on the scene with his indie sci-fi film Monsters. The film featured impressive visual effects completed by the director himself and an economical story that made great use of an intriguing concept without breaking the bank. It even landed Edwards a BAFTA nomination for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer, and it’s largely considered to be the reason he ended up directing the reboot of Godzilla in 2016.
Monsters has already been given a sequel called Monsters: Dark Continent, but it wasn’t nearly as celebrated as the original, mainly because it didn’t come from director Gareth Edwards and merely took place in the same universe. Now the world of Monsters will expand even more with a TV series in the works.
Deadline has word of the Monsters TV series in the works at Vertigo Films with the intention to air on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom, but producers are hoping to land a major partner in the United States, and they’re already in talks with the likes of Netflix and Amazon to send it across the pond.
For those who maybe haven’t seen Monsters, the compelling original film followed an American photojournalist (Scoot McNairy), who is tasked with escorting his employer’s daughter (Whitney Able), back to the United by crossing an infected zone full of strange creatures in Mexico. Neither of the characters returned for the movie sequel, which opted to follow a new story set in the same world.
There was once discussion of a Monsters TV series several years ago that Gareth Edwards wasn’t going to be involved with, but it never came to fruition. At the time, there were no story details known about the potential series, and we’re in the same boat for this new attempt as well. The good news is that Edwards is reportedly “likely to be involved behind the scenes with his full involvement determined when the project has been fully greenlit.” So he may end up serving as a consultant on the project or something like that.
Ronan Bennett, creator of the British crime series Top Boy, is set as showrunner for the series with Daniel Fajemisin-Duncan and Marlon Smith (the duo behind the UK miniseries Run) providing the script. The writers also recently sold an original sci-fi pitch called Red Star to Warner Bros. Pictures, so here’s hoping they can utilize the rich world created by Gareth Edwards to make an engaging television series worth importing from the United Kingdom.
TV shows based on movies don’t always bring the kind of success their predecessors found on the big screen. But since Monsters wasn’t a blockbuster spectacle with a huge fanbase to satisfy, there’s a chance the series adaptation will be able to thrive on its own without being a disappointment. It may even be able to improve upon Edwards original movie. We’ll find out whenever/if the series makes it to the United States as development continues.

In recent years famous Star Wars fans have managed to bag themselves small blink-and-you’ll-miss it roles in the latest films.
While James Bond star Daniel Craig has played a stormtrooper alongside Tom Hardy, Prince William and Prince Harry, the directors have been appearing in each other’s movies.
The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson was seen in the firing chamber of the Death Star in Gareth Edwards’ Rogue One and has now returned the favour.
In The Last Jedi’s final act on Crait, Edwards is seen preparing to defend the Resistance’s stronghold.
The director plays a solider in the trenches, readying his gun. He stands next to another one who examines the surface of the planet and says: “Salt!”
Edwards also cameoed in his own movie, Rogue One, in the film’s final scenes.
Before the movie was released, he teased on Reddit: “I don’t want to give it away, but let’s just say he [my cameo] was probably the saviour of the entire rebellion.”
We now know he played the rebel solider who disengaged the Tantive IV spacecraft containing Leia and the Death Star plans, just before Darth Vader reached them.
Meanwhile Johnson is yet to reveal if he had a cameo in The Last Jedi.
Star Wars The Last Jedi is out now.
The X Factor-winning group, who recently won the PopJustice Twenty Quid Music Prize for the third time, had to take to the stage without Perrie Edwards – who is rumoured to have a gastric illness.
They were at the iHeartRadio music festival in the US and soldiered on as a three-piece, although their performance was marred by poor sound quality.
Fans blasted organisers for seemingly scuppering the performance, which comes as the girls continue to fight for a higher profile in the US.
Speaking backstage, Jesy Nelson explained: “She’s not feeling very well. So yeah, she’s resting.”
A spokesperson told the Mail Online: “Perrie was taken ill overnight and had to go to hospital with gastric problem.
“She saw a doctor and was sadly unable to perform.”
However it was the sound issues that proved a bigger point of contention amongst fans.
One tweeted: “Well we couldn’t even hear them because of the damn microphones! What was up with the sound??”
“HOW WILL YOU EXPLAIN THIS I HEART MESS RADIO?” raged another.

The savings rates in the US and the UK are dropping, and economists are trying to figure out what that means.
When the US government released its annual revisions to economic growth last week, it made sharp downward revisions to the personal saving rate. Savings as a share of disposable income was 4.9% last year, not 5.7% as earlier calculated, the Bureau of Economic Analysis said.
The update showed that incomes were less than previously reported, while consumption was higher.
Albert Edwards, a Societe Generale strategist and permabear, published the doomsday interpretation of this data in a note on Thursday. For Edwards, it’s the eve of the financial crisis all over again.
“Every day more evidence mounts that almost exactly the same debt excesses that caused The Global Financial Crisis (GFC) in 2008, are present today,” he said.
Slumping savings rates in the US and the UK were last seen in 2007, “just before the bursting debt bubble blew the global economy and financial system to smithereens.”
Edwards assigned the blame to the Federal Reserve. Quantitative easing, which stoked demand for bonds and other debt assets, “has not only inflated corporate debt to grotesque levels, but finally the US savings rate has responded to the surge in household paper wealth that QE has produced,” Edwards said.
He continued: “Typically the SR always declines (shown as a rise in the chart below) with rising wealth. Why do you need to bother saving if interest rates are close to zero and house and stock prices are rising?”
Societe GeneraleThe risks from a low saving rate are two sided, said Mickey Levy, the chief economist for Americas and Asia at Berenberg Capital Markets. “It suggests that consumers are confident enough to increase their spending relative to income growth but it also means that consumers have less of a buffer in the case of any adverse shock.”
However, Neil Dutta, the head of US economics at Renaissance Macro Research, said the savings rate is “basically where it should be when taking household wealth relative to income into account.”
And so, even if the lower savings rate reflects another credit binge, as Edwards argues, more consumer spending is keeping the US economy afloat for now.

NRL: Addin-Fonua Blake could face a suspension after a high shot on Cooper Cronk.

Manly’s Addin Fonua-Blake is facing a suspension.
MANLY forward Addin Fonua-Blake has received a one-match NRL ban for a high shot on Melbourne star Cooper Cronk.
Fonua-Blake will miss Sunday’s clash with the Sydney Roosters if he pleads guilty to a careless high tackle charge, but will risk a two-match ban if he contests it.
Fonua-Blake felled Cronk with the tackle in the first half of the Storm’s 40-6 win in Melbourne on Sunday.
The bench prop’s absence would be a blow to a seventh-placed Sea Eagles side aiming to avoid their third-straight loss.
Meanwhile, polarising Eels forward Kenny Edwards has been fined for a shot on Jonus Pearson that drew criticism from across the game.
Lying on the ground after copping a high shot, Pearson was defenceless as Edwards dropped on him with a cocked arm.
Despite calls for a harsher penalty, Edwards was charged with grade one contrary conduct and copped an $ 1100 fine after taking the early guilty plea.

Earlier this month, Kate Edwards joined the board of directors at Take This, a mental health advocacy group in the games industry. In some ways, it’s an extension of her previous work as Executive Director of the International Game Developers Association, where she advocated against crunch time and championed diversity.
Take This is a non-profit that focuses on raising awareness and providing education around mental illness. In addition to commissioning white papers and studies as well as organizing panels and presentations, it also provides “safe spaces” called AFK rooms at conferences or conventions where people can take a break when they feel overwhelmed. The AFK rooms are quiet places staffed by volunteers as well as clinicians to help with people who might be, as an example, experiencing anxiety from the crowds.
“I think that advocacy on mental health issues in the game industry is long overdue, which is why the existence of Take This is so critical,” said Edwards in an email. “It has made a foothold on this issue and brought a level of visibility and discourse that was largely ignored for decades, part of which is related to the broader societal conditions — particularly in Western countries — that stigmatize mental health as a weakness or something to avoid discussing openly.”
Edwards says that the IGDA Developer Satisfaction Survey in 2016 showed that around 1 out of 10 people in the industry self-reported some kind of mental health issue, and yet the issue is still not top of mind. As a part of the board of directors, Edwards will be working to help Take This expand its reach and also advocate for removing the stigma around discussing mental health.
In her previous role at IGDA, Edwards had collaborated with Take This on a white paper about crunch time called “Crunch Hurts.” Throughout her career, she has been a strong voice speaking out against the grueling hours that developers often have to endure.
I interviewed her about her long history tackling this issue, as well as others like diversity. In her experience, she’s witnessed two different types of crunch: bottom up and top down. Bottom up crunch is when developers feel like they’re in what she calls a “creative groove.”
“That’s where the developers are the ones who experience that, sometimes together as a group, and they say, let’s just do this,” said Edwards in an interview with GamesBeat. “Maybe they’ll work really hard for a week to get this feature done. That’s great. That should be encouraged when it happens, if you know it’s happening.”
Top down crunch, on the other hand, is damaging; it’s mandated periods of time where developers are working 12 hours and up and forced produce creative output. Edwards says that it’s not only harmful to the developers’ health but also bad for productivity in general.
“You don’t get that kind of creativity out of people that way,” Edwards said. You just tear them down.”

Often, Edwards says that she views things in the context of culture. Her background is in geography and geopolitics, and her experiences examining different cultures has given her a unique perspective on these kinds of issues. She often compares how various countries approach things like crunch time, and she also views the games industry itself as a meeting of different cultures.
“I admittedly look at a lot of things in our industry as different cultures competing for attention, whether it’s mobile versus console or indie versus triple-A,” Edwards said. “These are cultures. They’re cultures that compete. There are very common rules to how human cultures interact with each other. We’re no different. Yeah, we’re the game industry and we’re tech-based and all that, but we’re still human beings doing this work.”
There are a lot of things that the industry on a whole can agree on, but there are still other things that are up for debate. Edwards says that, for example, there are many different schools of thought on game design and what makes a “good” game. And, of course, diversity is a topic that’s at the forefront of not just the games industry but the tech industry overall.
“Obviously [Gamergate] elevated a lot of awareness about what a problem this is,” Edwards said. “If there’s anything good that came out of that episode, it’s the fact that we are having a conversation. It’s more overt and more common to have that conversation than before, which is great. But we have to be conscious about it.”
That’s a common refrain, that the industry has to be conscious of the issues it faces and how it addresses them, whether it’s crunch time, diversity, unconscious bias in hiring, or mental health issues. Edwards calls upon companies to commit themselves to making these changes, saying it’s a matter of will to exert effort to address these issues. Addressing diversity isn’t necessarily an end unto itself either. Edwards says that companies are actively inclusive have seen it yield success.
“Diversity is the numbers, the demographics in your company,” Edwards said. “Inclusion is what you do with that diversity. How do you employ that diversity to actually make your products better?”
Edwards says that it’s all about controlling the narrative and determining what the games industry stands for. It’s a huge economic force, worth $ 108.9 billion this year and projected to grow to $ 128.5 billion in 2020. But it’s also an enormous cultural force.
“We’re proud of what we do. We’re not going to slink in a corner and say, ‘Well, I’m just a game developer,’” said Edwards. “I’ve heard developers say that. I’m like, wake up. You’re not just anything. You’re serving in one of the most dynamic and interesting professions in modern history. You’re reshaping how people consume media, how they experience narrative, how they experience emotion.”
