We’re heading back to the ritziest part of Los Angeles in the upcoming film “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley,” the long-awaited fourth entry in the “Beverly Hills Cop” franchise. The first one came out in 1984, starring Eddie Murphy as a police officer who heads to Beverly Hills to solve the murder of his best friend. It spawned two sequels; “Beverly Hills Cop II” in 1987 and “Beverly Hills Cop III” in 1994.
Also starring in the film was Paul Reiser (“Stranger Things,” “Mad About You”), who played the character of Jeffrey. Though Reiser didn’t make it into the third film, he’ll be back for the fourth, along with Murphy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Taylour Paige, James Preston Rogers, and James Aviel.
Reiser is also starring in the new sitcom “Reboot,” about the cast of an early 2000s sitcom that is getting rebooted with the original actors. The new series premiered on September 20, 2022, with its first three episodes. /Film’s own Ethan Anderton spoke to Reiser and co-star Rachel Bloom about “Reboot” and asked him about the upcoming “Beverly Hills Cop” film.
‘He Actually Didn’t Quite Look 23 Anymore’
Reiser was asked about reuniting with Eddie Murphy for the fourth film in a series that has spanned almost four decades. Reiser joked that he tries to “help Eddie out whenever I can and to boost his career. So it’s an honor.” The “Stranger Things” star also had something to say about the fact that Eddie Murphy looks pretty similar to when the first movie premiered, saying, “I was finally glad to see that he actually didn’t quite look 23 anymore. It’s like, a year ago, this f***ing guy looks exactly the same.”
I mean, he’s not wrong. Reiser also reminisced about the amount of time that has passed since the first film. “We were chatting,” Reiser said, “and I remember, I was at his 21st birthday party, which was at Studio 54, or whatever Studio 54 became. And now, we’re in our 60s, even Eddie’s in his 60s. I’m like, ‘That’s a long span. We’ve been doing this a while.'”
Maybe it’s best not to think about how long it’s been since that first film. Reiser even joked about meeting up again and “jarring names out of our brains that have not been uttered for 40 years.”
Did We Learn Nothing From Zoom?
As Reiser was talking, Bloom looked up some pictures that leaked from the set of “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley,” including one of Reiser in sweatpants. When she found them, he said he was glad it was a picture of him walking. “It wasn’t like picking my nose or whatever.” He explained that he was supposed to be driving in the film and was told that no one would see his legs or feet.
Who among us hasn’t gotten up during a Zoom meeting and forgotten that they were wearing penguin pajamas or something? Stars, they’re just like us!
Bloom got in on the conversation as well, saying that she’s in a new “Rush Hour” film. She joked, “It hasn’t been announced yet, but I play a gun … boom, boom, boom.” To be fair, if anyone could pull that off, it’s probably Bloom!
“Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley” is directed by Mark Molloy with a script from Will Beall. We’ll keep you updated on all the developments. Meanwhile, the first three episodes of “Reboot” are now available to stream on Hulu, with new episodes every Tuesday on the platform.

Eddie’s decision not to visit Teresa in hospital following the attack from Judge Lafayette (David Andrews) already drew perturbed reactions from the audience in season four.
However, their brief reunion at the end of the season was met with suspicion, with some even suggesting he could be an undercover agent sent by the CIA to dismantle Teresa’s drug operation from the inside.
In a recent discussion on Twitter, Rodriguez indicated viewers’ hopes for a more Teresa and James-centric season could come to fruition.
One fan asked: “How different would season four have been if James had been in it?”

Before signing off her chat with Charlie, Eddie did try and instil hope in viewers for 2021.
Eddie encouraged viewers to work together this year in order to overcome the coronavirus pandemic and its global repercussions.
“I would love it for all 7.8 billion of us to work together to share and share alike and get the vaccines out and get everyone healthy,” she told Charlie.
“It’s a great message, Eddie,” Charlie replied before bringing their chat to a close.

Eddie Izzard has been applauded by viewers during her most recent television appearance in which she asked for the pronouns she/her to be used. The stand-up comedy star appeared on the Sky Arts series Portrait Artist of the Year and asked the contestants and audience if she could be publicly referred to as ‘she’ and ‘her’ confirming that she was “gender fluid”.
Eddie appeared on the series seven finale, which saw contestants capture her likeness.
During her appearance, she tells them: “I think everyone should and must make life an adventure.”
And those watching the show heard Eddie say: “This is the first programme I’ve asked if I can be she and her, a little transition period.
“People just assume, well, know me from before… I’m genderfluid, I just want to be based in girl mode from now on.”
“She’s just now asking for people to drop the he/him pronouns she used to use,” it read.
Another said: “The amount of people being transphobic towards eddie izzard using she/her pronouns is awful,, people can use whatever pronouns they feel comfortable with and the only thing you have to do is respect that, it isn’t hard to be kind.”
Eddie previously spoke out about coming out as transgender back in 2017.
At the time, she told the Hollywood reporter: “I am essentially transgender. I have boy mode and girl mode. I do feel I have boy genetics and girl genetics.”

Eddie, that grabber-claw is supposed to be used for good, not evil!
All kidding aside, A Million Little Things‘ Eddie is in a real bad way in Thursday’s fall finale (ABC, 10/9c), as demonstrated by his behavior in the exclusive sneak peek above.
Last week’s revelation — that Eddie was not responsible for the death of his childhood friend, Alex — seems to have brought him little comfort. As we saw him lament to Katherine at the end of that episode, if he hadn’t been trying to figure out the truth/secretly convinced he’d killed her, he never would have been in the bar that night and wouldn’t have been struck by the hit-and-run driver who left him paralyzed.
In short: The in-recovery addict is (understandably) spiraling, and dealing with some very bad physical pain as well, and that translates into some shady business with his prescribed medication in the video above. When Katherine comes into the kitchen, will he tell her what’s going on?
Elsewhere in the episode, per the official synopsis: “Rome struggles with his movie and finds an ally in Shanice, and Maggie continues her journey in England as she and Jamie grow closer than ever.” The hour also features Andrew Leeds (Bones), who guest-stars as Peter, a highly skilled music teacher who works with young artists.

The biggest danger Eddie faces in this week’s A Million Little Thingshas nothing — or maybe everything? — to do with the car accident he suffered in the Season 2 finale.
The hour chronicles Eddie’s challenges as he adjusts to life at home in his wheelchair. At first, these seem annoying but minor: He’s got to grab mugs with the help of a spatula handle, for instance. But when Katherine and Theo leave for work and school… and Eddie realizes both his chair and his phone are on the opposite side of the room from where he’s sitting… it quickly becomes apparent that Eddie actually needs the help he’s insisted that he doesn’t.
When Gary swings by after picking up Theo from school, he finds Eddie dejected: He peed himself because he couldn’t get to the bathroom alone. Being the true friend that he is, Gary pretends to spill a glass of water on his pal so Theo won’t know what happened (side note: Guys, Theo always figures out when he’s being lied to!). But in the aftermath, Eddie nearly cries as he admits to Gary that he’s in a lot of pain and is growing tired of trying to pretend everything is OK.
Gary knows he’s gotta do something to help Ed navigate his new reality, so he calls Rome and the three meet up for their usual Friday basketball game. Eddie complains the whole way there — he’s in a wheelchair! he keeps reminding them — but the guys rag on him like they always do, and after he stops feeling sorry for himself, he actually manages to enjoy himself and sink a basket.
Back at home, Katherine finds the pee pants in the hamper and starts to freak out about how she can’t go back to work in the office because all she’ll do is worry about Eddie all day. But he promises her that they’ll get a home health aide to help out. And then Darcy, who’s visiting with Gary, says that she’ll make room in her schedule to be Eddie’s physical therapist — even though earlier, she told Gary that her loyalty to Katherine (and seeing how much Eddie’s infidelity wrecked her) would make that impossible. When Gary wonders why she had the change of heart, Darcy says, “I’m not doing it for him. I’m doing it for Katherine.”
BUT THEN… Later on, Katherine, Theo and Eddie are playing ping-pong on their new set when the doorbell rings. Theo goes to get it, and Alex’s dad is standing there. When Katherine comes over to see what’s going on, the pastor says he’s got the wrong address and starts to back away. “You’ve got a nice kid there,” he says before he goes. “Make sure you enjoy every moment.” Which on its face is a nice thing to say… but it comes off as creepy at best and threatening at worst. Is Pastor Alex’s Dad plannng to take a(nother) whack at Eddie?!
Elsewhere in the Friends of Jon:
* Maggie and her Oxford roommate Jamie bond with a little prop comedy (it’s a long story), and he winds up confiding in her that he doesn’t like therapists because a grief counselor he saw after his mom’s death shared something confidential with his father.
* Rome meets with Shanice, a famous and exacting actress he’s courting to play the role of Regina in his movie. But the real Regina is hurt that she feels like she’s grieving the loss of their son alone. When she confronts Rome, he explodes that he’s angry she tossed out of all of the baby’s stuff without even asking him if he was OK with that, and he’s angrier at the fact that they could be parents if it weren’t for her changing her mind. She eventually reveals that she put the infant paraphernalia in storage — so it’s not gone — but they agree that they’re not on the same page, and it’s rough.
Now it’s your turn. What did you think of the episode? Sound off in the comments!

It’s an extra-beautiful day in Mister Robinson’s neighborhood, now that the latest ratings for Eddie Murphy’s celebrated Saturday Night Live return are in.
Hosting SNL for the first time in 35 years, Murphy’s callback-filled episode amassed 16.3 million total viewers with Live+7 DVR playback factored in — marking the long-running sketch series’ largest audience since Oct. 18, 2008, when Josh Brolin hosted with musical guest Adele and the real Sarah Palin stopped by during a season in which Tina “I Can See Russia From My House!” Fey was lampooning the VP pick on the regular. (That outing drew 16.84 million, which at the time set a 14-year high.)
Murphy’s audience increase of 6.3 million viewers with Live+7 playback represents the largest such gain for any broadcast-TV program since the Nov. 5, 2018 Manifest added just shy of 7 million.
In the 18-49 demo, Murphy’s SNL return swelled 1.87 ratings points — the biggest such lift on any network since the Nov. 20, 2018 This Is Us grew by just over two points — to a 34-month high of 4.37, with Live+7 DVR playback factored in.

What’s a Saturday Night Live Christmas episode without some “Ho, Ho, Hos” courtesy of the one and only Velvet Jones?
As part of host Eddie Murphy‘s veritable “Greatest Hits” performance, which earlier in the night brought back a hint of Bill Cosby, followed by Mr. Robinson, Buckwheat and Gumby, Velvet Jones popped up as a contestant on Black Jeopardy! — but struggled to fit into these modern times.
Because no matter the category or answer, Velvet’s every question segued into a promotion for one book of his or another, each promising its female reader the chance to make “$ 1,500 a week” — starting with the classic I Wanna Be a Ho, followed by How to Dance Like a Ho.
Velvet was repeatedly reprimanded by Black Jeopardy! host Darnell (Kenan Thompson) for his use of the H-word, only to zag the next time around by pimping the how-to guide Ass for Cash. (When Darnell brought up the #MeToo movement, Velvet feigned familiarity, responding, “You like hos? Me too!”)
After getting in a dig at Idris Elba’s Cats character (“How will he ever attract a good ho” without a three-piece suit, a tiny gold chain and long, processed hair?), Velvet used the final clue to seemingly get with the times and suggest a woman doesn’t need to have sex to make money… by reading his latest guide, How to Be an Instagram Ho.

Tonight’s instalment of the BBC crime thriller took even more twists and turns, and in a chilling final scene it appeared viewers finally got a glimpse of the real killer – Eddie J. Turner.
Anna (played by Kelly MacDonald) disappeared even further down the rabbit hole following a difficult trial at the court, and the mother-of-two was left questioning her relationship and her sanity.
The character decided to visit her husband, where she told him she wished the real Eddie was actually dead, and she’d lied in court.
But just as she was sharing the truth of her dark thoughts, her friend in the force happened upon a startling discovery.
Craig Myers’ (James Harkness) friend Tom suddenly appeared in the cafe where Eddie was due to be meeting his social worker, prompting viewers to believe his identity had been revealed.
In the preview for the next episode, Anna could be seen in shock as her friend told her the news.
“Craig Myers is not Eddie J Turner,” the woman declared.
Horrified as the words began to sink in, Anna cried: “You’re lying!”
But the woman was having none of it, warning the mother-of-two: “I saw him Anna.
“We have ruined an innocent man’s life!”
Taking to Twitter, some viewers were actually convinced there was a further twist to come in the tale, and Craig remains Liam’s killer.
“Wonder if Craig and Tom are brothers and both changed names? #TheVictim best thing on tv for ages! Roll on tomorrow!” one person posted.
Another wrote: “I still think Craig is Eddie, not the friend. #thevictim.”
“Tense stuff but is it definite that Tom is the one? #TheVictim,” a third asked.
While a fourth speculated: “If the ex-husband doesn’t kill Craig, have got a horrible feeling he’s going to kill himself. #TheVictim.”
“It’s Tom, the friend. It has to be. He’s too fidgety #TheVictim,” a fifth added, followed by: “Knew it was the friend when the chef said about the second man in the cell!!!!! #TheVictim.”
Fans continued to share their shock over the twist, with one person exclaiming: “So it’s Tom who’s Eddie J Turner! #thevictim.”
“I reckon the daughter’s boyfriend tried to kill Craig Myers but I haven’t got a clue who EJT is. Don’t think it’s the bloke in the cafe. Great telly,” another added.

Two Sears board directors have hired an investment bank to look into deals made by the company’s former CEO Eddie Lampert before the company filed for bankruptcy.
The directors are questioning the ways the company separated its real-estate and Sear’s businesses under Lampert’s watch.
The directors say that doing so caused Sears to lose several valuable assets. They are consulting with the investment bank on whether Lampert’s actions constituted legal actions against him.
Lampert is currently owed $ 2.6 billion by Sears due to his hedge fund, ESL Investments, infusing the company with billions of dollars when its profits were being affected by retail giants Walmart and Amazon.
Lampert is now looking to buy Sears in a bankruptcy auction under the terms that it will be in a stabler financial condition.
(Reuters) – Two Sears board directors have hired investment bank Evercore to scrutinize deals that were led by former Sears Chief Executive Eddie Lampert with the US retailer before it filed for bankruptcy protection, people familiar with the matter said on Friday.
The deals, including separations of Sears’ businesses and real estate, may come under examination in bankruptcy proceedings, with creditors claiming the transactions stripped the retailer of valuable assets. Billionaire Lampert is the largest shareholder and creditor of Sears through his hedge fund, ESL Investments Inc.See the rest of the story at Business Insider
