Speaking at PaleyFest LA, Sam said: “I am excited to see where Jamie goes this season, but to be honest, we now have six, almost seven, years of experience behind us. “We have scenes, we have characters, we have things in the books we haven’t covered. We can call back on stuff. “We have seen there are other time travellers out there. It feels as though the universe is opening up a bit more for us to draw upon, as well for the writers.” Outlander seasons 1-5 are available to stream on Amazon Prime Video or Starz. BBC Breakfast saw Rachel Burden and Jon Kay at the helm for Saturday morning’s edition of the programme and, as ever, the pair were joined by a host of guests throughout the programme and at one point, Iain Duncan Smith, former Secretary of State for Work and Pensions. However, as Burden probed him on various topics such as hospitality reopening and members of the public returning to work, BBC viewers were left slamming the MP on social media after his appearance. This morning’s instalment saw many questions raised about the prospect of more lockdown restrictions being eased in the coming weeks. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has set out the date of July 4 for establishments such as pubs and restaurants to reopen – but this has been met with some criticism. Today, Conservative MP Iain Duncan Smith spoke to host Burden and backed the measures, insisting: “What we have to do is learn to live with the risk.” However, those watching at home were left unimpressed with the former Secretary of State’s comments this morning, calling him “out of touch.” READ MORE: Charlie Stayt forced to cut off Nick Gibb over technical blunder One viewer wrote: “That mediocrity Iain Duncan Smith saying people need to gauge risk for themselves. Yes, but to do that we need clarity on the facts and potential consequences and that clarity has been woefully missing from his government.” Another commented: “Out of touch Iain Duncan Smith blatantly putting economics before public health on #BBCBreakfast “It depends on which scientists you speak to” well that’s true of anything! You can always scrape the barrel and find a flat-earther who will tell you something you like #coronavirus.” A third added: “Iain Duncan Smith on the BBC basically saying we need to get people back to work to make people like me more money.” “Just watching Iain Duncan Smith on @bbc news. So in pubs you may well have to wear a face mask until you are seated at your screened off table with your own group. Doesn’t sound very appealing to me. Are people really that desperate to go out and have a drink?,” quizzed another. “Because, the Oxford scientists and many others don’t actually think air transmission is anything like what other scientists say it is in terms of effect – they think it’s about 1.3 percent, rising at most to 2.6 percent but if you wear face masks, that lowers it to 85 percent, gets it down to about 0.5 per cent.” He began to discuss the science behind the measures, adding: “The honest truth is – even on SAGE – scientists don’t agree, many scientists criticise the original measures because they’ve all been done in laboratories and they don’t replicate reality outside and think that, even outside the house there’s next to no risk at all. “And, the truth is, that if you want to ask they scientists this they will constantly tell you of risk, but of course there’s risk – the virus isn’t suddenly going to disappear and we all know that. “What we have to do, is learn to live with the risk and understand where and who it is it must effects,” he told Burden, before outlining once more who was most affected by the virus – such as over 75s. As the interview went on, Burden asked Duncan Smith – who was the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions between 2010 and 2016 – questioned him for his thoughts on Brits going back to work as unemployment figures continue to rise. She noted how nearly three million people are unemployed in the UK and whether systems such as Universal Credit would be able to cope, to which the MP said: “First of all, you’re right in this sense. I was talking about the wider nature of what two metres does and how it shuts us down in all sorts of critical areas. “But the economy is teetering at the moment, so we’re supporting lots of people though the furlough scheme and through loans and these are, of course, going to have to come to an end.” Duncan Smith warned: “If we don’t get the economy moving now – which is why the two-to-one metre [rule] is so critical – we’ll simply see companies calling it a day and putting people onto unemployment and that will change massively and I don’t want that to happen, for very good reasons…” BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One. Duncan Smith continued: “We had to report huge swathes of the stuff that went onto social media to the police – threatening, angry, death threats, threats. “I just take the view that by and large, Twitter is an abusive medium, and I don’t engage by that regard, but others do.” The 65-year-old then addressed Stewart’s case directly, admitting he was “sorry” to see such a veteran in the world of broadcasting dismissed in such a way. He added: “I’m sorry about Alastair Stewart because I liked him very much as a broadcaster.
Duncan, in an exclusive interview with CBC Sports, is breaking his silence about the incident that captured international headlines as the Games in Pyeongchang were winding down. The 36-year-old paints a very different picture about the circumstances surrounding what been characterized as a drunken joyride.
"This incident obviously happened in an environment that allowed it to be magnified," Duncan said. "Headlines are sensationalized. We were all just trying to get home that evening. I had no reason to believe we were doing anything wrong or inappropriate."
On Feb. 24 — the second-last day of the Olympics — Duncan and his wife Maja were fined one million South Korean won ($ 1,176) for their roles in the theft of a red Hummer.
Raine, the ski cross high performance director within Alpine Canada, was also fined five million won ($ 5,880) for his involvement, which included driving the stolen vehicle with a blood-alcohol level of at least 0.16, well above South Korea's legal limit of 0.05. For context, Raine's blood-alcohol level at the time of the incident was twice the Canadian limit of 0.08.
The trio spent about 24 hours in jail and did not participate in the closing ceremony. It was considered by many as a dark cloud hanging over Canada's historic performance at the Winter Olympics.
But Duncan, who is announcing his retirement, explains they had no idea they were stealing the vehicle in the first place.
Duncan shares his side of what happened at the Olympics
He said a group of Canadian ski cross athletes were celebrating their Olympic achievements in a private room at a local bar when a driver with credentials from International Olympic Committee befriended them.
"He showed us his credentials and said he was a fan of Canada and what we've done and that if we were looking for a ride home, to get in touch with him and then he'd take care of us," Duncan said.
They tracked the man down around midnight and took him up on his offer, he said.
"He escorted us out to the vehicle in question. We loaded in and then he led us to believe that we could take the vehicle and leave it at the Athletes' Village for collection the next day," Duncan said.
"There was no reason to believe that we couldn't trust this person."
Duncan said he, his wife, Raine and an assistant coach got in the Hummer. Duncan said they dropped the assistant coach off at another Olympic House party before making their way to the Athletes' Village. Police stopped them as they approached.
"It wasn't until we were pulled over that we found out that that vehicle was reported stolen," Duncan said.
"I was kind of in disbelief that we were in this situation to begin with. I thought at some point everyone might realize that there was a big misunderstanding and that would kind of be the end of it."
The Duncans issued a written apology after the incident that said they were deeply sorry and "engaged in behaviour that demonstrated poor judgment and was not up to the standards expected of us as members of the Canadian Olympic team or as Canadians."
Duncan stands by that apology and said it's been a long process reconciling what happened that night.
"I guess what I've struggled with since this all happened is knowing that if I'm in that same situation again I'm probably making the same decision," Duncan said. "There was no reason to question what was going on or taking that vehicle that evening."

Duncan said he has not been in contact with the IOC regarding the credentialed person. That the IOC has not been in contact with him either, he said.
Duncan said he doesn't know the man's identity.
As for the alcohol consumed that night, Duncan admits to having a few beverages but said he had no idea Raine was intoxicated.
"We had no indication that he had had too many drinks that evening," Duncan said about Raine, whose mother is Nancy Greene, a Canadian skiing legend and retired B.C. senator.
"I want to believe that had I not been drinking, there might've been something I picked up on that would have led to to us avoiding the situation."
Initial reports said the Hummer, which belongs to Yong Gil Ahn, was stolen while it was idling outside to charge the battery after it died.
Ahn said he went into a building for a coffee while he waited and called the police after he realized it was gone. It took officers about an hour to call him back saying they found it.
At the time, Ahn said the Canadians were responsible for damaging his Hummer and was wondering who was going to pay for it.

Duncan said there was no damage done to the vehicle. He and his wife are trying to have the car theft fine removed. He said they have another upcoming court date in South Korea.
"We have legal counsel in Korea helping us with all of this," Duncan said. "We don't feel we're guilty of the charge so we're going ahead and doing our best to fight it."
Duncan is retiring from the sport he loves after three Olympic Games. That's why he's talking — he doesn't want this one incident he said was taken out of context to be how he's remembered.
The London, Ont., native finished in eighth in ski cross in Pyeongchang, improving on his 24th-place finish at the Sochi Games in 2014.
"This incident will not define me or my career," Duncan said. "I've prided myself on doing things a certain way my entire life and avoiding the crazy lifestyle. I think my teammates would describe me as quite bland and even boring from that side of things."
Duncan said it's been a long process trying to get over the maelstrom that followed the incident. He said he's received a lot of nasty messages and emails since it happened, and that he's been working through it all with the help of a psychologist.
It's been a reflective past eight months for Duncan as he ends his career.
"I want to view this as out of character but when it happens you know you start to question yourself. Am I the person that I think I am? And ultimately I have to rely on my lifetime of decision making and experiences over this.
"I would call this one-off an outlier."

Iain Duncan Smith said the plans, which he discussed with EU chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier in a private meeting yesterday, required “goodwill and cooperation” but no “special measures” such as new technology – as is currently proposed by Theresa May’s Chequers plan.
Mr Duncan Smith said Mr Barnier would “listen to ideas from all sides” but stressed he was “not negotiating” on the government’s behalf and rejected a suggestion from a Good Morning Britain anchor that the meeting was “secret”.
Speaking to Good Morning Britain the former Conservative Party leader said: “I want the government to reach a deal with the European Union, and I think the government want to do the same.”
“We’ve already spoken to the government about this potential proposal. We think its a practical solution that actually helps reach a conclusion.
“The paper itself is already in the public domain, but the key element is we’re looking at practical ways in which you simply don’t… each side says they don’t want a hard border, and there is a practical way of not achieving that without having to force Northern Ireland into a customs union or into the single market, and that proposal just needed a proper exchange with them.”
Mr Duncan Smith continued: “It’s not about technology, it’s about existing processes, it’s also based on a set of agreements called CLECAT.
“It doesn’t require any special measures, it does require cooperation and goodwill.
“With all of that it’s wholly feasible, because they key thing, and I think the Commission is in this position generally, is that they want to get to a deal, the free trade deal is on the table, and if there’s a way around this then I hope they will be interested in taking it.”
Mr Duncan Smith insisted that he was “not negotiating” with Mr Barnier, and rejected suggestions that the meeting was “secret”.
He said: “That’s what it was about. I’ve already spoken to the government about it and I hope it will work out.
“Michel Barnier has said he will listen to ideas from all sides. And this was part of the process. We’ve spoken to the government about this.”
Former Cabinet ministers Iain Duncan Smith and Owen Paterson denied undermining the Prime Minister after meeting the EU’s chief Brexit negotiator, Michel Barnier, in Brussels.
Mr Duncan Smith said: “We are presenting some ideas which we think are constructive and we had a constructive discussion.
“Now we are going to go back and talk to the Government about it.”
He added that whoever briefed in violent terms about the Prime Minister’s future “needs to have the fullest weight of the Conservative Party upon them”.
“It has nothing to do with our politics, it has nothing to do with this issue,” he told reporters in Brussels, adding Mrs May had his “full support”.
Theresa May will brief the Cabinet on the progress of the Brexit negotiations after last week’s Brussels summit failed to achieve the hoped-for breakthrough.
The Prime Minister told MPs on Monday the terms of Britain’s withdrawal from the EU were 95 percent agreed but that the “sticking point” remained the issue of the Irish border.
However, she came under fire from critics on all sides in the Commons after she confirmed that she could accept a short extension to the transition period after the UK leaves in order to secure a final settlement.
Both Tory Brexiteers and Remainers expressed concern that it could leave the country trapped indefinitely in a transitional arrangement with no say in the rules governing it.
The latest display of backbench unrest came amid reports that the number of Conservative MPs submitting letters calling for her removal was approaching the 48 needed to trigger a no-confidence vote in her leadership.
However, there were signs that a series of lurid briefings over the weekend by unnamed backbenchers calling for her to be “knifed” and advising her to “bring her own noose” had backfired, causing MPs to rally behind her.

Afterwards, Robert returned to the stage where he has starred in everything from Shakespeare and Agatha Christie to 12 Angry Men. Cornwall-born Robert, 65, lives in Hertfordshire with his partner Jean.
He is on tour in Ruth Rendall’s A Judgement In Stone.
“I started as a journalist on The Cornish Guardian and worked my way up from cub reporter. I got two front pages and stories in the national press.
“I was always keen on acting, though, and the advice was to get a second string to my bow, so I trained as a teacher in the West Midlands.
“I later begged, borrowed and stole my way through drama school and just before I finished in 1981, I got my first TV role in the drama series For Maddie With Love starring Ian Hendry. Ian took me under his wing and taught me a great deal.
“Among my early stage roles were A Deep Man and a favourite, Mr Rochester in Jane Eyre. Alongside theatre, I did TV and my most high-profile role was Gus Hedges in Drop The Dead Donkey. “Gus was a shy and hopeless newsroom boss who was bereft of people skills.
He was a blundering idiot who talked a lot of rubbish! The writers had the strength to flesh out the narrative of every character as each series progressed, combined with topical news stories.
“Despite the popularity of Drop The Dead Donkey and its raft of awards over nine years, I think the writers decided to stop because they couldn’t go any further with it.
“I later got offered several roles that were simply clones of Gus and it boils down to the fact that I was a victim of the show’s success and I took that on board. The irony of Drop The Dead Donkey was that I’d been cast as the person who’d never been a journalist in his life, yet in reality I had been!
“I returned to the stage and took on roles in TV shows such as London’s Burning, Where The Heart Is and a regular character in Casualty.
“In recent years I’ve done less TV and more theatre, like long tours of Agatha Christie thrillers, Ladies In Lavender with Hayley Mills and Belinda Lang, and Rehearsal For Murder last year. I also do radio drama – particularly Old Harry’s Game, written by Drop The Dead Donkey’s Andy Hamilton.
“I’ve worked on many productions for Bill Kenwright, too, who is the producer of the whodunnit I’m currently touring with, called A Judgement In Stone.
“When I’m not acting I teach English, history, creative writing and a bit of drama. I think I’d describe my life as an actor as a work in progress.”

Chelsea spent around £200million on new players in the summer, including club-record signing Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid in a £60m deal.
But Conte is said to be unhappy with the board’s efforts during the window, according to Daily Record journalist Castles.
Castles said on the Transfer Window Podcast: “Chelsea, as we’ve discussed several times, are nowhere near where Antonio Conte wants them to be as a squad.
“There are still huge divisions between Conte and the board which will have to be dealt with one way or another.
“So, you just have to look at the squad.
“They’ve lost the Premier League’s best striker from their own mishandling of him in Diego Costa and replaced him with Alvaro Morata who is a good striker but Real Madrid were quite happy to let him to go.
“They’ve handed Nemanja Matic to Manchester United and replaced him with Danny Drinkwater.
“Drinkwater is a good player but is he on the level of Matic? No I don’t think so.”
Chelsea have made up for their poor start to the season – having lost to Arsenal in the Community Shield and to Burnley on the opening day – with three Premier League wins on the bounce.
And the Blues will look to add to their victories over Tottenham, Everton and Leicester when they kick start their Champions League campaign at home to Qarabag tonight.
Yesterday’s interview saw Jacob admitting he was vehemently opposed to abortion, but despite the politician insisting that he wasn’t interested in taking Theresa May’s role as head of the Conservative Party, the presenter pressed Iain over whether or not he believed he had a chance at becoming the next Prime Minister.
After showing a short clip of Jacob’s controversial comments, which riled the nation, she demanded to know: “What do you make of what he said?”
Clearly shocked at the direction a debate which originally focussed on the Brexit Repeal Bill had taken, Iain replied: “These things are all personal things and opinions and they have to be because they’re about belief.”
Not impressed that he appeared to be dodging her question, Susanna pressed: “Do you share the same view?”
“No, I don’t,” he hit back. “I voted for gay marriage. I am a strong supporter of stability and I believe if people want to have that final point, then it is the right thing to do… I don’t agree with him but it is a personal view.”
Susanna’s co-host Ben Shephard then jumped in to ask: “Can someone expressing views so divisive with opinions like that be the leader of the Conservative party?”
“Thats not for me to decide,” Iain explained. “If the party doesn’t agree with his sentiments that may well be a tipping point.
“By the way, Jacob has already made it clear that he’s absolutely not interested in being leader.”
Susanna quipped: “He didn’t say that for 100 per cent…”
“No one ever says 100 per cent,” he snapped back.

And it didn’t take long for Peter to send the show into chaos as he knocked the first item he inspected onto the floor.
The former presenter panicked Natasha when she picked up a ceramic dish with five white eggs placed carefully on top and he whacked one of them out of place.
Peter could be heard shouting “Oh no!” as he quickly scrambled to catch the delicate item.
Unfortunately for Natasha he continued to leave both her and the owner of the antiques shop on edge as he proceeded to pick up the eggs and juggle with them.
He could be seen laughing as he threw three of the balls into the air before he dropped one of them on the floor.
The dealer was heard screaming in shock in the background while Natasha looked away in annoyance.
Peter and Natasha decided not to purchase the obscure item after the embarrassing mishap but went on to buy an ivory envelope opener.
The instalment saw both teams make a loss with Peter losing £121.21 leaving him with just £278.80.
Meanwhile, his competitor Sarah won the episode by making a slightly smaller loss of £11.12, taking home £288.88.
