Striker Habib Habibou went from concerned teammate to winning goalscorer and back again as he helped Maccabi Petah Tikva to victory with a bizarre goal in the Israeli Premier League over the weekend. With the game against Maccabi Netanya locked at 0-0 and entering the last 5 minutes, Habibou looked to be out of the action as he tended to a stricken teammate in the opposition penalty area. But Maccabi Petah Tikva then surged forward as a winger fired the ball across goal, only for the opposition keeper to spill it invitingly into the path of Habibou – who had remained under the opposition defense’s radar in the six-yard box. With the ball tantalizingly close, Habibou broke away from checking on his teammate to stab into the unattended net. The goal stood as the forward was onside when the ball was played – but despite being mobbed by teammates Habibou earnestly returned to helping his fallen comrade, who gingerly got back to his feet as Maccabi Netanya players looked on in disbelief. Habibou himself later retweeted a clip of the strike, commenting: “God never sleep help ur friend he will give u more.” Some football journalists hailed it as “a case study on how to lose your marker.” The goal from the Central African Republic striker proved to be the winner, as his team moved up to sixth in the league, level on points with their rivals on Saturday. Habibou, 31, has had a peripatetic career which has taken him from the youth team ranks at Paris Saint-Germain to spells in France, Belgium, England, Turkey and Qatar, before heading to Israel this season. He’s unlikely ever to find the back of the net in a more unorthodox fashion that he did on Saturday.

Tropical Storm Gordon is centered 50 miles off the coast of Fort Myers, Florida on Monday evening, dumping rain on the peninsula and whipping its shores with maximum winds up to 50 mph.
Heading northwest at 17 mph, the National Hurricane Center predicts Gordon could strengthen to a hurricane over the Gulf of Mexico before it likely makes landfall in Mississippi early Wednesday.See the rest of the story at Business Insider

Queensland coach Kevin Walters has revealed Ben Hunt needed cheering up after being replaced as halfback by Cherry-Evans and demoted to the bench for Wednesday’s State of Origin III.
But Walters has backed Hunt to make an impact as an interchange utility as Queensland attempt to avoid a first series whitewash by NSW since 2000 and send stand-in skipper Billy Slater out a winner.
Walters agreed Hunt had come into the game three camp “p***ed off” about losing the halfback spot.
“And rightly so. We wanted him to be disappointed,” Walters said on Tuesday.
“Ben wants to be part of this group and I know he can add some great stuff.
“He’s got great skills, he’s a tough little bugger and he’s very hard to handle defensively, and in defence he is very strong as well.
“Wherever we play him he will stand up for us.”
Walters promised St George Illawarra No.7 Hunt “plenty of match time”.
“Certainly he may play some dummy half, he may play some time in the middle as a roving type of player – we will see how the game develops,” he said.
“We know he’s a player that is comfortable at this level. He will show what he can do at this level.”
Cherry-Evans clearly has not required a Walters pep talk.
At 29, the Manly skipper has launched a Camp Maroon charm offensive as he tries to stake a long-term claim for the Queensland No.7 jersey.
There was speculation Cherry-Evans fell out with the Maroons during his last Origin stint but the Sea Eagles leader has been warmly welcomed back after his three years in the Origin wilderness.
He played the last of his six Origins in game two 2015.
Certainly Walters had been won over by Cherry-Evans.
“He’s been awesome. He’s a great fella, a great Queenslander,” Walters said.
“I am sure he is going to put in a great performance tomorrow night in front of a home crowd.”
Cherry-Evans was once booed at Queensland’s spiritual home Suncorp Stadium when he ran out for Manly after his famous 2015 backflip on an agreement to join Gold Coast.
But Walters expected Cherry-Evans to be the toast of the Maroons faithful on the same ground on Wednesday night.
“We just want DCE to be DCE. He’s a great ball runner, a great organiser, he’s a tough defender as well,” Walters said.
“His last opportunity at this level in 2015 he brought an injured shoulder into the game. He is a lot more mature now. I am excited for him.”

While not as big a success as the PS4, the PS Vita still has a dedicated fanbase.
And those players still get access to a range of PS PS Plus games every month.
However, it appears things are changing fast for the Sony handheld.
According to new reports, the PlayStation Vita will cease manufacturing in 2018.
This follows the announcement made by the tech giant earlier this year, in which they revealed their plans to discontinue PS Vita games through the PlayStation Plus subscription service.
“Starting next year on March 8, 2019, the PS Plus monthly games lineup will focus on PS4 titles and no longer include PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita titles,” Sony posted.
“This won’t affect any games you’ve already downloaded, or will download, prior to March 8, 2019.
“Those games will still be part of your PS Plus games library as long as you remain a member.
“Your game saves and other benefits of PS Plus will also remain the same – the only change is that no new PS3 and PS Vita games will be added to the PS Plus monthly games lineup beyond March 8, 2019.”
“Many of our fans are playing on the PS4 platform, with the increasingly vast number of PS4s in homes around the world.”
With this in mind, it makes sense that Sony would be getting ready to dump the remaining support for the PS Vita this year.
According to a report on the Daily Star, the Vita is being discontinued in Spain, which could mean the beginning of the end for the handheld.
“It seems as though Spain is the first region to formally stop manufacturing the Vita; PlayStation in Spain recently confirmed in a reply on Twitter that the system has been officially discontinued in the country,” the Daily Star reveals.
“Whether that means other European countries will soon follow suit, or whether this is just an anomaly, remains to be seen.
“Still, it’s a sad state of affairs for a console that promised so much when it was first launched to be so quietly dropped by Sony.”
It should be noted that no major announcement has been made on the subject by Sony, who will continue offering PS Plus games for the Vita in 2018.
The content you have downloaded as part of your PlayStation Plus subscription at no charge is only accessible as long as you are an active subscriber.
The exceptions are free themes and avatars, which you will continue to have access to, even if you are no longer a subscriber.
Anything you have purchased (even if you purchased it at a discount) will remain available to you even if your subscription ends.
Also, different countries have different rights, release schedules and, have different things available in their PlayStation Store for this reason.
So this is why you may hear about different games being available in Asia, Europe and North America, when it comes to some PS Plus announcements.

The Trump administration is being sued by an activist organization for allegedly allowing oil companies to dump waste from fracking and drilling into the Gulf of Mexico, without considering the detrimental effect it will have on marine life.
The Center for Biological Diversity filed a formal notice of intent Thursday, after the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finalized a Clean Water Act permit in September for new and existing offshore oil and gas platforms operating in federal waters off the coasts of Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi.
The Center allege that the Trump administration approved the permit – which allows unlimited amounts of waste fluid and chemicals to be dumped into the Gulf of Mexico – without evaluating the effect it will have on sea turtles, whales and other marine life.
“The Trump administration is letting the oil industry turn our oceans into toxic-waste dumps. The EPA’s supposed to protect water quality, not help pollute the Gulf,” said Kristen Monsell, a senior attorney at the Center for Biological Diversity.
“It’s time for the courts to remind this agency that its mission is to safeguard the environment and public health.”

Thursday’s letter of intent claims the EPA’s lack of consideration for imperiled species is in violation of the federal Endangered Species Act.
The Gulf of Mexico is home to various species of whales, dolphins and fish and is a federally designated critical habitat for loggerhead sea turtles.
According to EcoWatch, more than 75 billion gallons of wastewater was dumped into federal waters off Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi in 2014 alone. Furthermore, the region’s marine life is still recovering from the devastating Deepwater Horizon oil spill in 2010.

“Mr. Trump didn’t seem to really get the art of feeding carps; I saw a charm of a little boy, and for some reason, I smiled. To feed carps little by little, and to watch them get closer to you by shaking their fins— these are ways to enjoy a relaxing time. But that seems impossible for a president who’s busy.”

The scheming Albert Square hardman (played by Jake Wood) didn’t appear too put out when his lover Fi (Lisa Faulkner) showed up at Carmel Kazemi’s (Bonnie Langford) house for a cheeky romp.
However, it appeared that Fi had an ulterior motive when, after they’d enjoyed a steamy session on the kitchen table, the pair were nearly caught in the act.
After evading discovery, Fi was seen sneakily swiping the memory stick with the sealed bids behind Max’s back.
Later in tonight’s instalment of EastEnders, Fi’s villainous father James Willmott-Brown (William Boyde) got wind of the romance between them and summoned the lovers to the Weyland boardroom.
“We may be partners, Max, but my daughter is not part of the package,” James warned, in a tense exchange.
When Max tried to stand his ground, insisting that Fi was a grown woman and could do as she pleased, he was left speechless when the blonde beauty switched allegiances on him.
Promising her father that her affair with Max was “just a fling”, Fi stunned Max by handing over the all-important memory stick stolen from Carmel.
Following the shocking turn of events, she then returned to Max to try to tell him that they needed to play the long game with her father, but the damage was already done.
“I’ve just seen you for what you are – an operator,” he seethed. “You’ve been taking me for a mug for long enough.
“This is where it stops,” he concluded. “I’m done with you.”
While Max is furious at being used as a pawn by Fi to get information for her father, could his recent refusal to be party to their evil plot land him in trouble? And will he decide to blow the whistle on their whole operation before it’s too late?
EastEnders continues tomorrow at 8pm on BBC One.
