The One Show’s Alex Jones was joined live in the studio last night by former Strictly Come Dancing star Alex Scott MBE to help host tonight and the two were working hard to try and bring some positivity to viewers amid the ongoing coronavirus panic. The two spoke to the likes of Lenny Henry and Angela Scanlon, but Alex Jones was cut off by guest Hugo Boss, formerly known as comedian Joe Lycett, after the host got his name wrong throwing the show into pandemonium.

Alex welcomed Joe Lycett to The One Show tonight who joined via video link, but it quickly became clear that the hosts had made a bit of a blunder.

“Hello, I am also drinking,” said the guest as he held up a pint of beer from his home.

Alex Jones said: “Isn’t it funny how the rulebook goes out the window, it’s a free for all.

“Joe, can you just show us where you are. Are you in your living room? what’s going on?”

But the host was quickly cut off and the guest corrected the host.

He said: “Can I just clarify, my name isn’t Joe Lycett anymore -”

Alex quickly chipped in: “Oh yes. Sorry, sorry it’s Hugo Boss.”

Hugo continued: “Just in case because I am not sure your viewers entirely know what’s going on.

Hugo went on to explain that he changed his name a couple of months ago after the global brand Hugo Boss was allegedly sending cease and desist letters to any company with the word ‘Boss’ in the title.

At the time Hugo posted that a small company in Swansea called Boss Brewing had been stuck in a very expensive legal battle with fashion house Hugo Boss.

The small company had nearly gone bankrupt from the legal fees and to show support and also get Hugo Boss’ backs up, Joe Lycett legally changed his name to Hugo Boss also.

But the show was thrown into chaos when the comedian was unable to get over the fact that he could see himself on The One Show on his TV but also he was talking to The One Show via his camera.

Later in the show, he made a rather dramatic admission that despite being live on the BBC show, he might also be drunk.

Alex Jones said: “And you will soon be back on The Great British Sewing Bee on BBC Two as well.

“And we have it on good authority that you have taken quite a shine to this man in the picture.”

Alex showed a picture of Hugo and Sewing Bee judge Patrick Grant and Hugo said: “Can you explain the picture? Oh wait, I can see it on my telly now.

“I’m watching The One Show. I find this so brokers that I am on The One Show and I am on The One Show.

“And I’m, and I’m drunk,” he said as he took another swig from his pint, leaving the hosts in hysterics.”

Hugo went on to explain that he gets a lot of old women approaching him since taking on a role in The Great British Sewing Bee, which made him feel like Barry Manilow.

Fans were overjoyed to see Hugo Boss on their screens, one viewer Tweeted: “@BBCTheOneShow Get with the program that is not @joelycett he is an imposter, that is Hugo Boss!”

Another added: “Love him! Never fails to make us smile. Thanks One Show.”

And lastly, someone said: “Drinking a beer on a topical show at 7pm well played Hugo Boss @joelycett.”

The One Show continues on BBC One tomorrow at 7pm.

Emmerdale spoilers: Graham Foster declares Joe Tate's death to Laurel whilst drunk? https://briefnews.eu/emmerdale-spoilers-graham-foster-declares-joe-tates-death-to-laurel-whilst-drunk/ https://briefnews.eu/emmerdale-spoilers-graham-foster-declares-joe-tates-death-to-laurel-whilst-drunk/#respond Sat, 12 Jan 2019 06:53:54 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/emmerdale-spoilers-graham-foster-declares-joe-tates-death-to-laurel-whilst-drunk/

Emmerdale viewers are still left in the dark about what really happened to Joe (played by Ned Porteous) last autumn.

However, one thing for certain is Graham (Andrew Scarborough) had some involvement with his disappearance.

And it seems, he is very close to revealing exactly what happened to Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy).

It comes after Kim Tate (Claire King) made her explosive and highly anticipated return to the village before Christmas and one of her very first demands was to get rid of Joe.

Unsatisfied with his work, she ordered Graham to get rid of him, but with the businessman having an emotional attachment to Joe, he gave him the opportunity to run away with a life-changing sum of money.

Whilst Joe initially agreed, he couldn’t leave Debbie Dingle (Charley Webb) behind and decided he would swing by the hospital chapel, where they were set to get married and leave with her in tow.

But, having delayed their wedding long enough, Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) went looking for his soon-to-be son-in-law and that is when the worst happened.

Anger taking control, Cain punched Joe causing him to fall and smash his head on a rock, to which Graham then declared him dead.

Yet viewers saw Joe’s finger’s twitch as Graham lifted him into his car – could he have just been unconscious instead of dead?

Nevertheless, Graham drove to an unknown location and took out a spade, walking into the distance.

It was presumed he had finished Joe off and buried him as the scene following saw him sitting in his car crying.

However, the soap did not show Joe’s body coming out of the car, being carried or buried. Could he have been alive and Graham gave him another chance to run away?

Since then, Graham has been playing with Debbie, making it look like Joe was still alive but had just jilted her.

Until recently when the mechanic received a series of parcels from her fiancé.

After Priya Sharma (Fiona Wade) clarified she had set up the presents following Joe’s wishes, Debbie filed a missing person’s report to the police, convinced her boyfriend was still alive and out there somewhere.

Worried Debbie was capable of finding out the truth, Graham has been turning to the bottle, even though he is meant to be recovering from alcoholism.

And this is where Laurel comes in. Earlier this week, Graham visited Laurel for a chat.

“Look I’m here if you ever need to talk to someone who has been through what you are going through.

“But Graham, what you really need is a sponsor. The meeting aren’t enough, you need that support,” she explained.

As a recovering alcoholic who has been sober for several years now, soap bosses seem to have directed Graham to Laurel.

Will she be his sponsor?

Scenes have already shown Graham fall off his recovery plan several times now, and should Debbie find another clue and go to confront him, will it edge him closer to the alcohol?

Thus in turn, Graham could turn up in the dark hours at Laurel’s house looking for someone to talk to.

In his drunken stupor, will he expose his involvement in Joe’s disappearance to Laurel?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV.

Weed behind the wheel: Stoned drivers now more common in US than drunk ones https://briefnews.eu/weed-behind-the-wheel-stoned-drivers-now-more-common-in-us-than-drunk-ones/ https://briefnews.eu/weed-behind-the-wheel-stoned-drivers-now-more-common-in-us-than-drunk-ones/#respond Sun, 28 Oct 2018 03:19:34 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/weed-behind-the-wheel-stoned-drivers-now-more-common-in-us-than-drunk-ones/

Stoned driving is on the rise in the US, with a new study showing that THC – the main psychoactive constituent of cannabis – is now the most commonly detected intoxicating substance in American drivers.

Following the legalization of cannabis in some states, Americans are getting higher than ever before, with an estimated 15 billion hours under the influence of cannabis each year. A newly released paper, ‘Driving While Stoned: Issues and Policy Options’ reports that the number of people driving while high is therefore likely to increase… and the science behind accurate drug testing for cannabis products is yet to catch up.

The paper calls on stoned driving to be made a traffic offence, adding that the government should invest in messages that highlight the dangers and risks of marijuana on the motorway, as many users believe that THC does not have an impact on driving ability.

New York University’s Professor Mark A.R. Kleiman, who authored the study, said that “even assuming that an acceptable test can be developed, stoned driving alone and not involving alcohol or other drugs, should be treated as traffic infraction rather than as a crime, unless aggravated by recklessness, aggressiveness, or high speed.”

The paper, published in the Journal of Drug Policy Analysis on October 26,says that current scientific methods to measure impairment are inaccurate. Blood tests for THC levels must be administered at a medical facility and levels of the drug can drop in minutes. ScienceNews also notes that “unlike breath alcohol detection tests, which are cheap, reliable and can be easily administered at the roadside, a breath test for cannabis remains to be developed”.

Ryanair: ‘Drunk’ and disruptive man dressed as Tinkerbell kicked off plane by armed police https://briefnews.eu/ryanair-drunk-and-disruptive-man-dressed-as-tinkerbell-kicked-off-plane-by-armed-police/ https://briefnews.eu/ryanair-drunk-and-disruptive-man-dressed-as-tinkerbell-kicked-off-plane-by-armed-police/#respond Fri, 17 Aug 2018 21:01:08 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/ryanair-drunk-and-disruptive-man-dressed-as-tinkerbell-kicked-off-plane-by-armed-police/

Ryanair removed a man dressed as Peter Pan fairy character Tinkerbell and his friend from a flight to Krakow, Poland after they became disruptive on the plane at Stanstead Airport.

According to one passenger on the flight, the man had “threatened to cut everyone up“.

Armed police were called to the scene this morning to help Ryanair cabin crew, causing the flight to be delayed.

“Our flight to Krakow hasn’t taken off yet because a man dressed as Tinkerbell has threatened to cut everyone up. This is why you don’t fly Ryanair from Stansted,” passenger Dan May tweeted today.

He then added: “Armed police have shown up. One officer has adjusted the man’s wings.”

Local news site Essex Live reported that the two men were a groom and best man.

Photographs have now emerged of the man dressed as Disney character Tinkerbell standing next to an armed police officer to the side of a plane.

The green dress is very short and he has teamed the look with white socks and black trainers.

One passenger on the Ryanair flight, who wanted to remain anonymous, told Essex Live that the man appeared to be drunk.

“He was a little bit drunk and just before leaving the best man decided it’s best to take him off,” he said.

“He had been given another chance by the cabin crew but the group thought best he went for the next plane.”

It seems the man dressed as Tinkerbell wasn’t the only one in fancy dress as May also referred to a man dressed as children’s TV character Bob the Builder.

“Meanwhile, the man dressed as Bob the Builder has been exceptionally well behaved,” May tweeted.

A spokesperson from Ryanair told Essex Live: “Police removed and detained two passengers ahead of this flight from London Stansted to Krakow who were disruptive before the aircraft departed to Krakow.

“We will not tolerate unruly or disruptive behaviour at any time and the safety and comfort of our customers, crew and aircraft is our number one priority. This is now a matter for local police.”

The Irish low-budget airline has taken the opportunity to reiterate their call for airports to ban alcohol sales before 10am and to limit alcoholic drinks to just two per passenger in a bid to crack down on drunken behaviour on board their flights.

The Ryanair flight eventually departed after a short delay. Both the man dressed as Tinkerbell and his friend booked on to a separate flight to Poland to join their party.

Express.co.uk has contacted Ryanair for comment.

This is not the first time this week armed police were called to remove a passenger from a flight.

Yesterday, an easyJet passenger was taken off a plane by officers when flying to back London over a disagreement regarding a booked seat with extra legroom.

Sam Ramsay Smith, 72, travelled to Amsterdam from London Gatwick to seek treatment for a medical condition that made it difficult for him to walk easily.

When returning from Amsterdam, Dr Smith had paid £27 for a seat with extra legroom due to his injury. When boarding he discovered his seat had been taken, which was when the disagreement took place.

After complaining his front row seat, 1E was occupied, he told The Sun the captain said: “I don’t like your attitude. You have to get off the plane.”

Police armed with machine guns then boarded the plane. Dr Smith told the newspaper: “One said to me ‘are you going to resist?’ I replied ‘do I look as though I am capable?’”

He was then taken off the plane by the police and forced to take a flight to London the next day. However, the airline has refuted his claims and said Dr Smith had become abusive during the altercation.

Big Brother Season 20 Premiere: Which Player Is Already Drunk With Power? https://briefnews.eu/big-brother-season-20-premiere-which-player-is-already-drunk-with-power/ https://briefnews.eu/big-brother-season-20-premiere-which-player-is-already-drunk-with-power/#respond Thu, 28 Jun 2018 03:40:40 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/big-brother-season-20-premiere-which-player-is-already-drunk-with-power/ Shrieks, lies and “bro!”s abounded Wednesday as 16 new Houseguests entered the Big Brother house to kick off Season 20.

Like all good seasons of Big Brother, the lying began immediately. Steve Arienta, for example, decided it was best to conceal his past as an undercover narcotics detective for the NYPD, opting instead to masquerade as a mild-mannered mechanic and family man. (To be fair, that last part is actually true. And the dude loves bubble baths.)

For the most part, though, the season’s initial deceptions revolved around Houseguests concealing their intelligence behind their hotness, or vice versa. Cybersecurity engineer Brett Robinson, for instance, decided that as long as he doesn’t wear his glasses, no one will suspect that his gorgeous head also contains a gorgeous brain. On the flip side, self-proclaimed “dweeb” Scottie Salton intends to hide his secret athleticism behind the persona of a 26-year-old man who’s never been kissed. And considering the boner he popped upon meeting Vegas entertainer Rachel Swindler, I don’t think he’ll have any trouble convincing anyone. (Wait a second… the woman from Vegas is literally named “Swindler”? Talk about on the nose.)

There was also plenty of flirting during the season’s first two hours, and even a hint of heartache, as professional welder Sam Bledsoe lamented that cut-as-a-button JC Mounduix is “part of the LGBGT community,” and therefore she doesn’t stand a chance. (I don’t know what to tell Sam first — that there’s only one “G” in that acronym, or that JC said he needs subtitles whenever she speaks because of her thick mountain accent.)

But the gang barely had time to get acquainted before being summoned by Julie Chen, who revealed that technology is “taking over the Big Brother game” this season, telling the Houseguests to prepare themselves for “high-tech twists, upgraded powers and punishments, and the most tech-tacular competitions ever.”

And Chen wasn’t lying — the season’s first competition was pretty damn tech-tacular. She introduced the Houseguests to the B.B. Supercomputer, where they were set to battle each other for the power to save themselves (and seven others!) from elimination. But a technical malfunction caused the computer to crash, separating the Houseguests into two groups. The first group waded through a bunch of crap in search of hidden keys (“Bro, it’s disgusting in here!” Brett, aka “Brohann Sebastian Bach,” exclaimed. “It’s like my frat house after a rager!”) Meanwhile, the second group faced off in a bungee-related challenge to spell out the word “Houseguest” using giant blocks.

Big Brother Swaggy CAs the first person to find her key in Group 1, Angela Rummans proceeded to the final part of the competition, facing off against Chris “Swaggy C” Williams, the first person to spell his word in Group 2. Swaggy attempted to strike a deal with Angela, ensuring that they’d both be safe regardless of who won the competition, but she surprised him big time by saying that her loyalty is to the seven people with whom she entered the house — aka not Swaggy. “Cool,” he told the camera. “My ass will win the competition and not keep you safe at all! You better remember that.”

As promised, Swaggy entered the competition ready to eat Angela alive — or at least remain standing on his surfboard longer than her — and he did, earning the season’s first big win. But Chen threw him a little victory curveball, informing him that he couldn’t save individual Houseguests, but rather choose two of the four move-in groups to escape elimination.

“Now all of the power is in Swaggy’s hands,” he mused. “And I get to control everybody’s fate — it’s marvelous!” (In case you couldn’t tell by his monogrammed “Swaggy C” shirts or the fact that he constantly refers to himself in the third-person, this guy’s a little bonkers. And I’m a fan.)

In the end, Swaggy chose to play by Angela’s own rules, saving all of the people with whom he entered the house: Angie “Rockstar” Lantry, Brett, Rachel, Scottie, Haleigh Broucher, Kaycee Clark and Faysal Shafaat.

Assorted thoughts…

Big Brother Robot* I’m kind of obsessed with the fact that Sam was turned into an actual robot (until the first live eviction) as punishment for coming in last place.

* Speaking of Sam, how does her welding family not already have its own TLC reality show?!

* I kind of love lifeguard Tyler for straight-up admitting, “My biggest weakness is my brain.”

* Question for the group: Which liberal Houseguest will be the first to clash with Winston Hines, whose love for guns is matched only by his love for his dog Dixie.

* I’m also curious about everybody’s thoughts on professional bro Brett. So ridiculous… but so pretty… but so obnoxious… but so pretty.

Are any of the Season 20 Houseguests popping for you yet? Grade the premiere below, then drop a comment with your favorite (and least favorite) personalities.

Don’t drink and fly – drunk passengers could face HUGE on-the-spot fines https://briefnews.eu/dont-drink-and-fly-drunk-passengers-could-face-huge-on-the-spot-fines/ https://briefnews.eu/dont-drink-and-fly-drunk-passengers-could-face-huge-on-the-spot-fines/#respond Fri, 13 Apr 2018 17:37:33 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/dont-drink-and-fly-drunk-passengers-could-face-huge-on-the-spot-fines/

Drunk passengers hoping to take advantage of the free, on-board service could face huge fines ahead of a new regime to cut back on flight brawls.

The government is considering a number options to reduce the violent and abusive behaviour posed by some drunken passengers.

The change in law could cause all duty-free alcohol to be sold in sealed bags. The law prohibits these being opened until the passenger reaches their final destination.

Anyone caught breaking this rule could face a hefty on-the-spot fine.

These fines may also be applied to passengers that are deemed to be already heavily intoxicated.

Although there are currently rules in place on alcohol consumption, it is not against the law for passengers to drink their own alcohol onboard.

A government report outlining the new aviation strategy, highlighted that 70 per cent of passengers questioned had experienced incidents relating to alcohol on flights.

Out of those, 18 per cent who have flown in the last threes years reported that they had experienced aggressive or drunken behaviour.

According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA) there has been a 50 per cent rise in the number of passengers who have been restrained after showing aggressive behaviour.

One airline reported that 50 per cent of the passenger incidents reported were caused by alcohol consumption.

The report highlights that there are already strict penalties in place for drunken passenger behaviour on an aircraft.

An individual can face up to two years in prison if they are deemed too disruptive and a large fine.

However, it would appear not all passengers are aware of this as drunken behaviour seems to still be on the rise.

Earlier this month a ‘disruptive’ passenger was fined £2,500 after a Ryanair flight was forced to turn back to the UK.

The 45-year-old passenger, Karl Wend, was arrested upon arrival back in the UK leaving his fellow passengers stuck waiting for him to exit the plane.

The father was supposed to be heading to Tenerife on a stag-do with some friends before the situation got out of hand.

Previous flight footage captured the moment a crazed American Airlines passenger delayed his flight after stripping off and chasing staff onto the tarmac.

In a report from Cincinnati.com, the flight was set to take off on from Charlotte airport when the strange behaviour of one of the passengers prevented the plane from taking off.

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, a man ran off the plane, onto the tarmac of the Charlotte Douglas International Airport, where he stripped off his shirt.

As the crew try to calm the man, he becomes more agitated and even shows signs of aggressive behaviour. The man was eventually pinned down until police arrived on the scene.
