A bar on London’s South Bank has been named the best in the world.

The World’s 50 Best Bars list, now in its 10th year, is based on the opinions of more than 500 drinks experts, who each cast seven votes.

For 2018, the experts named Dandelyan, the bar of the Mondrian Hotel in London, the best in the world.

The bar was created by the award-winning bartender Ryan Chetiyawardana, or “Mr. Lyan,” the creator of the “Lyan” family of bars that includes Super Lyan, Cub, and White Lyan, which is now closed.

Dandelyan, his oldest bar, is “inspired by the great botanists, fruit hunters, and bon vivants who brought back new tastes from foreign lands.”

Located in Sea Containers House right on the River Thames, Dandelyan offers some pretty stunning views — and its interior is just as impressive.

However, there was one main thing that surprised me about the best bar in the world when I went to visit.

Here’s what it was like.

And here’s what it looked like when I visited on a Friday night. I was taken aback by the bar’s location, right on the river path, meaning plenty of tourists and pedestrians walk by and look right in at you (or even come inside).

The stylish interior has an art deco vibe, paying homage to the Sea Containers building the bar and hotel are in. The space, by the British designer Tom Dixon, is inspired partly by “the luxurious cruise liners of generations past” filled with luxe purples, pinks, greens, and golds.

George Washington is widely regarded as the father of the United States.

It’s not surprising why. Not only did the general-turned-president ensure the survival of the Continental Army during the American Revolution, he also laid down a number of massively important precedents in his two terms as US president.

So how did he spend his days? Well, that likely varied a bit when he was commanding his army from 1775 to 1783. And, as it turns out, we know a bit more about the breakdown of his daily schedule when he resided at Mount Vernon, his estate on the banks of the Potomac River.

Here’s a breakdown of how a day in the life of George Washington unfolded at Mount Vernon:

After much speculation, the royal wedding menu has finally been revealed.

This past week, I swapped my usual coffee order — unsweetened with cream — for a buttered alternative that promised to give me mental superpowers.

In September, wellness brand Bulletproof Coffee launched a ready-to-drink version of its famous buttered coffee drink. The high-fat beverage will arrive in more than 400 Whole Foods stores nationwide this fall.

Made with cold-brew coffee, grass-fed butter, and a proprietary “Brain Octane” oil derived from coconuts, Bulletproof Coffee claims to diminish brain fog and increase mental function and energy, in addition to delivering a caffeine jolt. The beverage has amassed a cult following despite little evidence it works.

An increasing number of Americans are filling up on fat in an attempt to live longer and better. A high-fat diet (also known as the ketogenic or “keto” diet in its extreme form) has been shown to promote weight loss, dull hunger, and stave off age-related diseases. It’s catching on in Silicon Valley, where tech workers often claim the pro-butter diet gives them a mental edge.

Earlier this year, I tried the keto diet for two months. After nearly a month of restricting my carbohydrate intake, I experienced increased energy and focus. I also lost weight.

Bulletproof Coffee has sold the ingredients needed to make buttered coffee separately for years, but the new carton format makes it more accessible for the company’s many skeptics. When I first heard about it, I hoped the drink would help me tap into the benefits of a keto diet.

Every morning this past week, I gave up Starbucks for a bottle of Bulletproof Coffee.

Bulletproof Coffee comes in four flavors: Original, Vanilla, Mocha, and Original with collagen protein. I expected it to taste like a creamy, indulgent coffee drink, but they tasted more watered down. The butter added a floral note to the aroma and made it more silky in texture.

The company behind Bulletproof Coffee, which is led by “biohacking” guru Dave Asprey, markets the drink like it’s a shortcut to a keto lifestyle.

“The ready-to-drink format provides sustainable energy from fats rather than sugar,” according to an email from a company spokesperson.

“Bulletproof Coffee has helped everyone from driven CEOs to professional athletes to busy parents increase their energy so they can do more of what fulfills them,” the website reads.

But as I learned during my experience on the keto diet, the benefits only kick in after several weeks of restricting carbohydrates to 20 to 50 grams a day, which is roughly the equivalent of a plain bagel or a cup of white rice. On the diet, the body switches from burning carbs to burning fat as its primary fuel source — a state known as nutritional ketosis. Keto-dieters eat lots of healthy fats like cheese, nuts, avocado, and butter, to maintain this state.

Because I was still eating sugary carbohydrates as a major part of my diet, Bulletproof Coffee did not make me feel any more charged than normal coffee.

The science behind buttered coffee is spotty, and it has drawn public skepticism from doctors. There are no studies showing the combination of ingredients in Bulletproof Coffee is safe, and eating too much saturated fat could present risks for people with elevated cholesterol levels.

Asprey drinks Bulletproof Coffee every day. He told Business Insider earlier this year that having it for breakfast outweighs poor choices he makes later, like eating a greasy meal out.

“Even if you’re going to have Taco Bell for lunch, you seriously improve the quality of your life all morning long [by drinking Bulletproof],” Asprey said.

241 years ago, 33-year-old Thomas Jefferson helped draft the Declaration of Independence.

Indonesian police said the 38-year-old Cairns woman drank “a whole bottle of vodka” plus six more shots on the night she died, according to News Corp.

Badung Police precinct chief Budi Setiawan said Simmonds began vomiting before she fainted and became unconscious at Peppers Seminyak villas.

Her sister and a friend performed CPR and called the hotel’s reception for a doctor.

“Her pulse became weak,” Setiawan said. “The victim’s face and lips turned blue.”

He said a doctor arrived shortly after midnight but was unable to revive Simmonds.

North Kuta police chief Pius Pebri Aceng Loda told News Corp it was believed that Simmonds died as a result of alcohol poisoning.

“We are still waiting for an autopsy,” Loda said. “We need to do an autopsy to find the cause of death.”

Gwyneth Paltrow admitted to drinking goat’s milk for eight days for a detox before posing for this month’s Women’s Health cover.

The super slim blonde is notorious for the the bizarre lifestyle hacks she credits her body to.

It won’t be long before fans are trying their own version of Gwyneth’s goat milk cleanse.

The actress believes the cleanse rids her body of parasites.

“I think they’re two of the biggest culprits in terms of why we feel bad,” she told the magazine.

“I’m knee-deep in figuring out ways to clear them from the body, looking at all sorts of potentially weird modalities,” the 44-year-old added.

“I have a pretty healthy diet, so when I’m eating processed foods and not watching my alcohol intake, I feel it.”

Gwyneth might be on to something, according to other fans of goats milk.

Goat’s milk is a metabolism booster, according to website Organic Facts.

The website says that the milk is more nutrient-dense than cow’s milk and provides 40 per cent of our daily intake of calcium in one cup.

They also claim goat milk has less “bad” fats than cows milk – although it has more fat in it.

It also causes less of the common inflammation and upset stomachs that cow milk does.

Bloating may be another reason you don’t look quite like Gwyneth in her amazing Women’s Health pictures.

Although it is not always obvious what causes a bloating stomach, you can reduce bloating with this expert tip.

If you are feeling the unpleasant symptoms of bloating try cutting down on carbohydrates and dairy.

“Something to try to reduce bloating is decreasing your carbohydrate and dairy intake,” said Dr Akbar Consultant, Gastroenterologist at St Mark’s Hospital.
