The new allegation has been made by Deborah Ramirez, who claimed that Kavanaugh exposed his genitals in her face during the 1983-84 academic school year at Yale University. During the incident at the “drunken dormitory party,” which happened during their freshman year, the future judge also allegedly forced her to touch his penis without her consent, the New Yorker revealed.

According to the publication, the allegations are now being investigated by at least two Democrats in the Senate. Another two Democrats are aware of the issue. In addition, the New Yorker claims, some Republicans in the Senate were also informed about the new accusations.

Kavanaugh, who faces similar claims from California professor Christine Blasey Ford, vehemently denies the accusations. “The people who knew me then know that this did not happen, and have said so,” the judge said in a statement sent to AFP.

Meanwhile, the White House Spokesperson Kerri Kupec noted that the decades-old allegations brought up against the judge were timed and “designed to tear down a good man.”

Pedro Sanchez, Spain’s newly appointed prime minister, agreed to take in passengers of the rescue ship Aquarius, who are mostly from sub-Saharan Africa, after Italy’s anti-immigration government and Malta blocked the ship from docking. But the arrival of the ship brought chaos into the lives of Spanish students in the city of Alicante, who were told to leave their dormitory to make room for the refugees.

The La Florida dormitory was chosen by the regional government of Valencia to host around a hundred unaccompanied children from the Aquarius. The children, aged between 12 and 17, were brought to the city by buses after the ship and two Italian vessels, which helped transport the refugees, arrived in Spain on Sunday.

The students, who reportedly pay as much as 750 euros per month for the accommodations, were told to vacate the rooms within 24 hours. The authorities explained that the eviction was necessary due to an emergency situation caused by the arrival of the migrants, reported the news portal Intereconomia. The mother of one of the students told the network that her son was told that all students had to leave La Florida because the migrant children were likely to have “many diseases” and posed a health risk.

The sudden development was reportedly not welcomed by many of those affected.

“We’re not against helping those in need, but it isn’t fair for my son to be removed from his residence and left on the street in the middle of his studies,” the woman said, adding that her son needed to complete his course in German in order to qualify for a new job in that country.

The regional government told RT it will ensure that all displaced students are provided new accommodations and that the province would cover their expenses.

The Aquarius came into the media spotlight earlier this month when it rescued almost 630 people trying to reach Europe from Libya in makeshift boats. Italy denied the vessel from docking at any of its ports, as the country’s new anti-establishment coalition government took a stance against accepting more migrants. The Italian Navy provided two ships to redistribute the refugees for safer travel. Italy also urged Malta to accept the migrants, but the island state also refused.

Sanchez, who became the prime minister of Spain in early June, said that it was “our duty to help avoid a humanitarian catastrophe and offer a safe port to these people” and invited the ships in. Some 2,300 people, including volunteers, translators, police officers and health officials were responding to the arrival, but apparently the operation was not as smooth as the Spanish government would hope it would be.

Facebook is a classic Silicon Valley success story: It’s gone from an idea hatched in a Harvard dorm to one of the most powerful and influential companies in the world.

Mark Zuckerberg, its CEO and founder, celebrated his 34th birthday on Monday — and, as CNBC calculates, has made an average of $ 6 million for every day he’s been alive so far.

Indeed, these days, Facebook is worth around $ 536 billion, and more than 2.2 billion people use its social network every month.

Here’s the story behind Facebook’s insane rise from February 2004 through today.

Spoiler alert: It involves a lot of beer.

Facebook got its start at Harvard’s Kirkland House dormitory.

That’s the same dorm where Wallace Shawn, who played Vizzini in “The Princess Bride” and the voice of “Toy Story’s” Rex, lived during his Harvard years.

In 2003, Mark Zuckerberg, then a sophomore at Harvard, built a website called Facemash.

“Facemash” was a Hot or Not-style site. Zuckerberg used pictures of his classmates that he hacked from the school administration’s dormitory ID files. The site got 22,000 page views from 450 people in the first four hours it was up.

A few days later, Harvard ordered it to be taken down, citing copyright and security concerns. Zuckerberg faced disciplinary action from Harvard but was allowed to stay at the school. 

Undeterred by the Facemash debacle, Zuckerberg launched “Thefacebook” on February 4, 2004.

Next month, for the first time since 2001, Eric Schmidt won’t have an executive position at Google or one of its affiliated companies.

On Thursday afternoon, Schmidt announced he’ll be stepping down from his position as executive chairman of Alphabet, Google’s parent company. He won’t be leaving Alphabet entirely — he’ll remain on its board and will serve as a technical advisor role — but he’ll be taking a step back from having a leading role.

Schmidt wasn’t a Google founder, but he joined the company early and played a major role in turning it into a global superpower. The company’s Google.com website is the most-visited in the world, and the company also makes Android, the world’s most popular operating system. And on the back of Google’s incredibly profitable advertising business, Alphabet is now worth $ 743 billion.

But Google’s start was much more modest.

Here’s a look at the company’s history, from its roots in a pair of Stanford dorm rooms, to Larry Page and Sergey Brin’s attempt to sell the company, to the formation of Alphabet, all the way through to Schmidt’s resignation announcement.

Google got its start in 1996 — but it wasn’t called that at first.

The company originated with an idea formulated by Sergey Brin, left, and Larry Page, who were both Stanford PhD students at the time. They came up with BackRub, a revolutionary search engine that would rank web pages based on how many other web pages linked back to them, a process they called PageRank.

Page and Brin soon changed their search engine’s name from BackRub to Google.

Google

The BackRub name didn’t last long. They quickly decided that a “googol” — the number one with a hundred zeroes after it — better reflected the amount of data they were trying to sift through. Playing on that word, Page and Brin, whose Stanford dorm rooms comprised their first offices, chose the slightly friendlier name Google for their nascent search engine and company.

The first-ever Google server was built in a custom case made out of Legos.

The server was housed on the Stanford campus and its web address was initially google.stanford.edu. But Brin and Page registered the Google.com domain name on September 15th, 1997.

Extreme dorm designs became a trend when Ole Miss freshmen Abby Bozeman and Lindy Goodson transformed their first-year dorm into a charming home-away-from-home. 

“We wanted our room to be cozy and comforting while we were away from home,” Goodson said of their dorm room. The two added their own personal touches with paintings and pictures and coordinated over the summer with fabric samples. The roommates also DIY-ed things they had from home to keep on budget.
