The Milanese club will play to an empty San Siro on two occasions, as punishment for the racial abuse levied at Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly by sections of their fans during Wedneday’s Serie A fixture between the two sides. A third match will then be played in the stadium, this time with the ‘curva’ section, which houses Inter Milan’s ‘ultra’ fans, closed. Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti revealed after the 1-0 defeat that he had asked match officials on three occasions to call off the game after Senegalese defender Koulibaly was targeted with slurs throughout the game. The tempestuous nature of the match continued well after the final whistle, as fans clashed outside the stadium. Four Napoli fans were stabbed, while an Inter Milan fan was killed when he was struck by a vehicle close to the stadium. READ MORE: Italian FA considering suspension of Serie A following death of Inter Milan fan – report The punishment will continue past the middle of February, as Inter Milan’s next three scheduled home games are against Sassuolo (19 January), Bologna (3 February) and Sampdoria (17 February). Koulibaly has also received a two-match ban for the red card he picked up during the fixture. Gabriele Gravina, president of the Italian FA, says that he took the action when he decided that the racist abuse was “no longer tolerable.” “Football is the heritage of true supporters and as such should be defended from all those who use it as a tool to create tension,” he said. “We condemn all forms of both physical and verbal violence, with the aggravating circumstance of racial discrimination. We do not tolerate such behavior ruining football.” Meanwhile, Napoli boss Ancelotti has received praise from anti-racism groups for pledging to remove his team from the field if he finds himself in a similar situation in future. “Under Ancelotti’s leadership the position of Napoli on racism and discriminatory abuse is clear, we note that the club previously threatened to take their players off the pitch before a match against Atalanta on 3 December,” it said. “Kalidou Koulibaly has consistently been the target of an alarming level of racist abuse while playing against clubs across Italy, including Atalanta, Juventus, Lazio and now Inter Milan. “Too often, the punishments handed out by Italian football authorities are weak and ineffective.” Koulibaly posted an apology to social media for being sent off in the game, but reiterated his pride at being Senegalese. “I’m sorry about the defeat and especially to have let my brothers down,” he wrote. “But I’m proud of the color of my skin. To be French, Senegalese, Neapolitan, and a man.” The post The Last Cadillac ATS-V: Pricier, Mildly Sportier, Two Doors Only appeared first on The Truth About Cars. Let’s just make one thing clear right off the bat: If you want to go off-roading and you want an open-air experience, a Jeep Wrangler is probably the right vehicle for you. Really, the Wrangler has always been about enjoying the outdoors with as little between its occupants and the great outdoors as legally possible. That’s why the top comes off, the doors stay home, and the windshield folds flat. All that said, however, one cool bit of show-car desirability reportedly won’t make into production. Those crazy cutout doors that caught so much attention at the Wrangler JL’s debut at the L.A. Auto Show won’t be available from Jeep. For now we’re reporting this as a rumor, but the report from Jalopnik seems legit. We have a request for comment in to Jeep and will report with confirmation when we hear back. Apparently — and despite the fact that the doors appeared on otherwise production-spec Wrangler models shown to the media and public show goers — Jeep says the cutout half doors were “always a prototype.” In the end, traditional half doors were deemed the best option for production. We don’t really disagree with the notion that traditional half doors are a better idea than the “prototype” cutout doors, especially considering how much effort went into making the JL Wrangler’s doors easier to remove than past versions. Plus, the aftermarket is rife with accessory doors and panels to choose from if the regular or optional half doors aren’t to your liking. Still, we’re sure some Wrangler JL intenders were looking forward to those unique donut-style metal doors, and so we must pass the disappointment in their direction. Related Video: BELLEVUE, Washington—We’ve visited Valve Software’s Seattle-area headquarters in the past, but this week’s gameplay reveal for a new release was met with something else: a chance to check out the company’s biggest-ever office upgrade. I took my camera on this office visit expecting to maybe see a big new mural or a couple of new things, but instead, I wound up with a memory card full of stuff I hadn’t seen in my previous visits, thanks to an office swap roughly six months ago. So, what does it look like at Valve’s new digs—at least, in the spaces I was allowed to take photos? I’ve broken the answer down in four galleries. The first is a general overview of the space, with a focus on game-related art. In addition to the usual Half-Life, Team Fortress, and Dota 2-themed paintings and sculptures, I also caught some weird stuff, like a lovely tiled mural in the company’s cafeteria and a ridiculous rug that portrays TF2 character Saxton Hale facing off against a bear. (I also, er, asked to hold the Dota 2 Aegis, and Valve obliged my silly request.)

Though no longer a part of the Italdesign company, the Giugiaro family of designers are still creating cars at their new studio GFG Style. The latest car from the group is called the Sibylla, and it was designed for a Chinese energy company called Envision that builds wind turbines and creates energy management systems. Though the combination is unusual, the car is awesome.
We should explain the name before going much further, though. According to GFG, the name comes from a mythical Latin character that could provide answers and predict the future. This is evident in the car, because it features Envision’s operating system for managing electricity. The idea is that this car would be able to act as a battery either storing or providing electricity to nearby buildings as needed. The name was also chosen because Giorgetto Giugiaro‘s mother, Maria Sibilla, shared the name.
It may not be a name that rolls off the tongue, but that hardly matters because the car is gorgeous. It has a space-age round canopy unhindered by pillars, accentuated by a low, wedge-like nose. Because of the large one-piece windshield, GFG had to devise an unusual way to climb in. The whole glass dome slides forward when the front doors are opened. Based on GFG’s description, it seems that the occupants can keep the windshield in a slightly forward position, too, if a targa-style experience is desired. The rear doors have a flashy opening system, as well, this time in the form of a gull-wing design. Inside, there are just four seats. The front passengers have access to an expansive infotainment display filling the arched dashboard. The driver gets an airplane-style steering wheel with touch pads. The rear passengers have fully reclining seats and individual infotainment systems.
Only one part of the car is a bit predictable, and it’s the powertrain. It uses two electric motors, one in the front and one in the back for all-wheel-drive. Exact specs weren’t revealed, but in describing the electrical networking capability, there is reference to a hypothetical 75kWh battery. If it used such a battery, it would probably have a similar range to the entry-level Tesla Model S 75D, which can go about 260 miles on a charge.
The Sibyla will be on display at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. We don’t expect it to become a production car, but we wouldn’t mind if it did.

As the rest of us wait in checkout lines during our Sunday evening grocery shopping, folks in Seattle eagerly await tomorrow’s public opening of the first store to eliminate the need for cashiers. The much-anticipated Amazon Go grocery store will open its doors to the public on Monday, January 22nd. The AI-powered shop encountered several challenges along the way to completion which delayed its launch by almost a year. After working through the kinks and successfully testing the store’s technology among reviewers and employees, it seems as though Amazon is finally ready to serve the masses with its automated storefront.
Before entering the Amazon Go store, a shopper must download the free Amazon app and link it to their Amazon shopping account. The app launched today and is available for iPhone and Android devices. Once a shopper has the app, they can use their mobile device to check-in using a QR code at the storefront before entering the sales floor. Checking in using the app allows the store’s AI to track the items a shopper picks up. When their shopping is complete, a customer can simply walk out of the store and the total value of their purchases will be charged to their Amazon account.
Although the company has kept the inner workings of the sophisticated AI software under wraps, Amazon Go’s vice president of technology, Dilip Kumar, provided Fast Company with a general explanation of how it works. Kumar says, “You use machine learning and use computer vision in a way that makes this experience completely seamless. We have spent a lot of time figuring out how to make our algorithms and our sensors reliable, highly available, and very efficient so that you get things right and we’re very accurate.”
Despite Amazon’s attempts to veil the presence of the store’s consumer-tracking AI, those who participated in the testing and reviewing processes say the ceiling full of black cameras offers a not-so-subtle reminder of the technology running behind the scenes.
The goal of Amazon Go is to provide fast, fresh, and affordable food for busy shoppers. The company hopes to help consumers move away from processed and frozen goods when they’re in a time crunch. This is why the current selection of items for purchase is limited relative to what you’d find in a standard grocery store. For example, you’ll find staples like bread and milk in Amazon’s storefront, but not a full bakery or dairy aisle.
Convenience lies at the core of Amazon Go, but not in the traditional form you’d expect from a gas station or a corner store. Go shoppers can browse a variety of ready-made meals and Amazon Meal Kits to take home everything they need to enjoy quality, chef-prepped food in 30 minutes or less.
The launch of the first Go store represents the beginning of Amazon’s first round of consumer testing. As of now, the retailer has no plans to expand the technology into Whole Foods stores. In an interview with Reuters, Gianna Peurini, vice president of Amazon Go, said “we’d love to open more,” but Amazon has yet to announce additional locations.
It seems fitting that the Seattle-based company would launch its first automated grocery store in its hometown. If all goes well, it’s safe to assume there will be more locations to come. The question at that point is: Which city will be next to move into the future of automated grocery shopping?

Hyundai created the first Veloster by taking the bones of its familiar and conventional Accent compact car and whipping up a hatchback that, at first glance, looked as if it had a conventional five-door layout. Of course, that was only if onlookers were on the passenger side, which sported two portals. On the driver’s side, they’d think it was a three-door, as there was just one door there. Even now, more than six years after that car went on sale in the United States, this layout is still weird. Unfortunately, the funkiness and fun promised by the oddball door design didn’t carry over to the driving experience, as even the hottest versions proved to be lukewarm. This all-new 2019 model promises more performance while still keeping the funk factor high. READ MORE ››

Henrik Fisker runs a new company called Fisker Inc., founded after Fisker Automotive crumbled and the Karma electric sedan went to China to be resurrected as the Revero made by a company called Karma. Any new company needs a new product, and Fisker has it: the EMotion electric sedan, which will bring its 400-mile-plus range, four butterfly doors, and a tiny example of its “revolutionary” battery to next week’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
We have about enough specs on the EMotion to fill a Post-It note, but we’re told that the range comes courtesy of a whopping 143-kWh lithium-ion battery that can be re-juiced with a 125-mile range in nine minutes. Fisker Inc. had formed a joint venture with Nanotech to produce graphene batteries, but the JV fell apart. Fisker says the replacement li-ion batteries sourced from LG Chem employ proprietary module packaging to create “probably… the most energy dense battery pack in the world.”
The company won’t be ready to divulge all of its battery and cooling secrets at CES, however, reps do plan to bring a cellphone-sized version to demonstrate the possibilities. Other innovations in development are an automated, hands-free charging connector.
As for those doors, they take us back to the Savage Rivale Landyacht GTS, being butterfly portals all around, rear-hinged for the rear set. Not sure how practical they’ll be, but they make the all-wheel drive EMotion look like nothing else – something the EMotion already didn’t need to worry about. Fisker says the sedan’s interior will be more spacious those of its competitors, with rear legroom exceeding that of “many full-size luxury sedans.” Every seat gets viewing screens, and top speed rings in at 161 miles per hour.
Fisker expects production to begin in 2019 somewhere in the US, and set the base price at $ 129,000. The order books are open now, with a $ 2,000 deposit securing your reservation.
