If you’ve ever found yourself attracted to something you just drew, Doodle Date, a game of romancing your own drawings no matter what they are, may be for you.
Doodle Date will have players drawing the people they wish to date, the movies they go to see, the food they eat, and more, creating their own activities and romance options as they work their way through their budding romance. Flirting, seduction, and eventually marriage will eventually come from your connections to your own drawings, so expect to build a loving, touching relationship with that picture of a merman or piece of toast that you drew a few minutes before. If only all artists could be so in love with the things they created.
While creating your romance options and activities, players will also be able to take their lives down two different routes, offering multiple ends for you and your piece of art. There may even be a secret ending to unlock through the game’s short, hour long playthroughs, so it will be worth digging deep into the life you’re now sharing with that spandex-clad fish you created.
Doodle Date is available for $ 4.99 on Steam.

If you haven’t baked your favorite pie to celebrate Pi Day yet, Google has you covered.
Today, March 14th, is the 30th anniversary of Pi Day (for, you know, 3/14 or 3.14). Not only does the day recognize the tasty-sounding mathematical constant that “represents the ratio between a circle’s circumference (perimeter) to its diameter (distance from side to side passing through the center),” it’s also both the birthday of Albert Einstein and now the death day of famed theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking.See the rest of the story at Business Insider

Today’s Google Doodle is an intricately drawn portrait of one of the most iconic and foremost female novelists of the 20th century.
Virginia Woolf was a pioneering English writer in the stream-of-conscious narrative method and a feminist icon.
Her most critically acclaimed novels such as Mrs Dalloway and To The Lighthouse have inspired generations of novelists, playwrights and readers.
Born on January 25, 1882 in the London borough of Kensington, Woolf spent most of her life homeschooled in classic English and Victorian literature.
She began writing professionally in 1900 and soon became a central figure in a highly influential group of writers, philosophers and intellectuals known as the Bloomsbury Group.
Despite growing up in London, many of her works were inspired by fond childhood memories outside of the capital.
Her 1927 novel, To The Lighthouse, was directly inspired by childhood visits to the Cornish coast.
In 1998, To The Lighthouse was named the No.15 on the Modern Library’s list of the 100 best English-language novels of the 20th Century.
In 1921, Woolf explained how her memories played into her creative process and her stream-of-conscious writing
She said: “Why am I so incredibly and incurably romantic about Cornwall?
“One’s past, I suppose; I see children running in the garden … The sound of the sea at night … almost forty years of life, all built on that, permeated by that: so much I could never explain.”
Woolf’s works suffered a decline in popularity post-World War Two but a 1970s resurgence in the feminist movement, saw countless readers rediscover her books.
Woolf struggled with mental illness through much of her life, undoubtedly exacerbated by the death of her father in 1904.
After falling into a deep depression, Woolf took her own life at the age of 59 on March 28, 1941.
To date, her most beloved books include Mrs Dalloway (1925), Orlando (1928), A Room of One’s Own (1929), To the Lighthouse (1927), The Waves (1931) and Between the Acts (1941).
In 2015, the novelist was portrayed by Lydia Leonard and Catherine McCormack in the BBC’s short drama series Life in Squares.
Nicole Kidman also portrayed Woolf in the 2002 film The Hours, for which she received an Academy Award for Best Actress.
It is St Andrew’s Day today (November 30) and Google has created a beautiful ‘colouring-in Doodle’ to pay tribute to Scotland’s patron saint.
With help from Scottish artist Johanna Basford, the iconic Google logo has been transformed into a homage to Scotland.
Ms Basford said: “To mark St Andrews day, Google asked me to create a very special Google Doodle that celebrates all things Scottish, so I picked up my pens and pencils and created this for them.
“My daughter, Evie is delighted to see our national animal make an appearance! There’s a splash of saltire blue, but I think it needs more colour… over to you!”
Exclusive to the UK, today’s Doodle is particularly special because it can be downloaded to colour-in at home via JohannaBasford.com.
St Andrew’s Day is the official national day of Scotland and is celebrated with a number of Scottish ceremonies including traditional feasts, music and dance.
Dating back to the reign of Malcolm III between 1034 and 1093, the celebration marks the beginning of Advent in the run-up to Christmas.
St Andrew’s Day was officially recognised by the Scottish Parliament as a bank holiday in 2007, though employers are not obliged to give workers the day off.
St Andrew, also known as Andrew the Apostle, was a disciple of Jesus Christ and brother to St Peter.
Born in the village of Bethsaida on the Sea of Galilee, Andrew was a fisherman by trade and, despite his humble beginnings, had a philosophy of always helping those less fortunate than himself.
He is said to have attended the Last Supper as one of Jesus’ 12 Apostles and is now the patron saint of several countries, including Ukraine, Romania and Barbados.
Andrew, who was not made a patron saint until 1320, is thought to have died in the second half of the first century, when he was crucified in the city of Patras, Greece.
He was bound to a X-shaped cross known as a saltire – now commonly referred to as St Andrew’s Cross.
The Google Doodle team said: “Wreathed in the prickly-leaved purple thistle, the unicorn (Scotland’s national animal) leads the parade, symbolising innocence, purity, power, and joy.
“The highlands and the lochs form the perfect backdrop to the country’s favourite mythical monster — Nessie, otherwise known as the Loch Ness monster.
“Trailing her is a majestic red deer, Scotland’s largest native land mammal, exploring the country’s much-celebrated bluebell woods.
“The Saltire, the blue Scottish flag emblazoned with a white diagonal cross, heralds the procession.
“It is believed to be the oldest flag in Europe, and every building in Scotland is required by law to display it on this day.”
Google is celebrating the 66th anniversary of what’s considered the first modern recording studio with a Doodle. Back in 1951, a group of composers founded the Studio for Electronic Music as part of the West German Broadcasting radio. It was ran by and hosted a multitude of forward-thinking musicians at the time, including Karlheinz Stockhausen, an electronic music pioneer and one of the most important composers of the 20th-21st centuries.

In addition, the studio also gave rise to a number of experimental instruments: Two of them, the Monochord and the Melochord, are considered precursors to the synthesizer. To pay tribute to the studio’s colorful history, Google has switched its usual logo with an image meant to encapsulate the vibrancy of the electronic music genre.
Google said in its announcement post:
“Until the year 2000, the original studio continued to push the boundaries of electronic music and develop new sounds and ideas. Today’s Doodle, by Berlin-based illustrator Henning Wagenbreth, celebrates the diversity of thought and imagination that built this studio and transformed the possibilities of music!”

Google is no stranger to celebrations. In the past, the festivities have brought new features for Google Photos, and Google Earth, and a montage (with a Rickrolling twist) for YouTube’s tenth anniversary. Today, the party is coming to its Doodle. To mark 19 years of company history, the latest Google Doodle packs 19 surprises from the past. You’ll be able to play a bunch of games, including tic-tac-toe, piñata, and cricket. And access awesome interactive Doodles from the archives, including the lauded DJ and music composition tools launched earlier this year. There’s even a Snake easter egg lurking in the mix, which offers a colorful take on the mobile gaming classic that’s every bit as addictive. Simply spin the wheel to start playing. And, if you don’t like the result, spin again.
Before you know it, you’ll have whiled away the minutes, and hours. And that’s just from sampling a fraction of the treats. Best of all, Pac-Man is also making his return. Back when the game originally landed on the Google home page in 2010, it was an instant success — squeezing 4.82 million hours of play from procrastinators worldwide. Since then, it’s been made a permanent fixture in the Doodles library. Of course, you’d have had to gone looking to find it in the past. Now, it’s back front and center for your gaming pleasure. And, if you’re afraid you’ll get caught playing on your computer, just head to Google.com on your mobile.

Today’s Google Doodle honours the late Russian crooner on what would have been his 83rd birthday.
Khil was a Soviet-era singer who experienced an unlikely second heyday as a YouTube sensation.
In 2010, a video resurfaced which sees Khil mouth his way through a lyric-less version of the song I Am Very Glad, As I’m Finally Returning Back Home.
Khil smiles sweetly as he performs in a brown double-breasted suit and gold tie that perfectly matches the backdrop.
Millions watched the two-minute and 40-second-long “Mr Trololo” clip when it was uploaded in 2010, including US chat show hosts Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel, who featured it on their respective shows.
Khil was oblivious to his new-found fame until he heard his young grandson humming the tune, some 30 years after he had originally sung it.
In 2010, the singer explained that he and the song’s composer, Arkady Ostrovsky, scrapped its lyrics because of fears that Soviet authorities would consider it pro-American.
Originally, it described: “John on his mustang traveling across the expanses of the prairie to his beloved Mary, who lives in Kentucky, waiting for him and knitting wool socks.”
When the pair struggled to replace the words, Ostrovsky proclaimed: “If that’s how it is, let it be a vocalisation!”
Khil was advancing into his seventies when the video went viral, but embraced his new following.
“It’s great,” he said. “Now I want to perform not under the name of Eduard Khil, but under the pseudonym ‘Trololoman.’ At least I’m looking into the matter.”
He had an astute insight as to why the song had captivated so many followers.
“In every country, a person probably understands the song for himself, in his own way,” he explained.
“Then when you write it down, we’ll meet on the Internet, [where] all together we’ll sing the new lyrics to the song.”
Khil passed away on June 4, 2012 following complications from a stroke. He was 77 years old.
Among those who offered their condolences to his family was Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“[Khil’s] name is connected to an era in the history of Russian music,” Putin said.
“Eduard Khil was unique in his extraordinary charm and lyricism, and constant in his professionalism, vocal culture and creative taste.
“Many of the songs he performed became part of the golden fund of the Russian stage.”
Jamaican American DJ Kool Herc is credited with starting the cultural revolution of hip hop in the New York Bronx, dubbed the Boogie Down Bronx.
During a set in the Bronx on August 11 1973, DJ Kool Herc decided to play just the instrumentals, or ‘breaks’, – sections where he noticed the crowd went wild.
His friend Coke La Rock used the breaks to hype up the crowd with a microphone, a role now known the Master of Ceremonies, or MC.
Google Doodle has marked the anniversary of the birth of hip hop with a game that features an interactive turntable allowing you to mix tracks using a selection of ground-breaking hip hop records.
Records include Apache by the Incredible Bongo Band, Funky Worm by the Ohio Players and Kids but Prince Paul.
There are 10 achievements to unlock within the game – each providing information in a different hip hip legend.
The Google Doodle starts with an animated history of hip hop, starring Fab 5 Freddy, the former host of ‘Yo! MTV Raps’.
The first-of-its-kind Doodle also includes custom logo by graffiti artist Cey Adams.
YouTube’s global head of music, Lyor Cohen, said that today the world is celebrating a “cultural revolution that’s spanned 44 years and counting”.
On the Google Doodle webpage, he said: “It all started in the NYC Bronx, more commonly known as the Boogie Down Bronx.
“Following the fallout from the construction of the Cross Bronx Expressway in 1972 that demolished a lot of the neighborhood, times were particularly tough.
“The youth needed an outlet – a unifying sound, a beat, a voice to call their own. The Bronx DJ’s and MC’s rose to the task and the city loved them for it.
“Hip Hop was accessible. A kid with little means and hard work could transform their turntable into a powerful instrument of expression (also illustrating hip hop’s technical innovation).
“Starting with folks like DJ Kool Herc, DJ Hollywood, and Grandmaster Flash, the grassroots movement created a new culture of music, art, and dance available to the 5 boroughs of the city and beyond.”

Forty-four years ago today DJ Kool Herc threw a party in the Bronx and decided he wanted to change up the sound.
He played only the instrumental sections or “breaks” from full songs and had his friend Coke La Rock hype the crowd through the mic. The partygoers went nuts and modern day hip-hop was born.
Google on Friday is honoring that night with an interactive Google Doodle that celebrates the hip-hop movement’s origins and culture.
The new doodle was designed by Cey Adams, the legendary graffiti artist and founding creative director of Def Jam records. Adams said he was excited by the opportunity to put a graffiti-style logo on the Google homepage and have it be seen by people all over the world.
Graffiti is sometimes associated with vandalism. When he was just getting started, Adams said it was difficult to get the message across that he was an artist and not a vandal.
The two O’s in the new Google Doodle are turntables and allude to the ones Kool Herc, whose real name is Clive Campbell, used the night of the pioneering party. Users can click them for a chance to mix their own samples from legendary Hip-Hop tracks.
GoogleThe team behind the new logo spent time researching and talking to early pioneers of Hip-Hop to narrow down which artists to include. Fab 5 Freddy, the former host of the ’90s era show “Yo! MTV Raps,” narrates the whole experience, interweaving history and culture into the design.
Perla Campos, one of the Googlers who worked on the Doodle, said it was one of the most technologically challenging designs she and her team have worked on because of all the voices and collaborators they wanted to include. The engineers wanted to do justice to the important role hip-hop plays in people’s lives while shedding light on the genre’s diversity.
Adams’ goal with the design was to give visitors to the Google homepage a sort of hip-hop education. He also wanted to shed light on some of the historical and cultural aspects of the music that often get ignored in the face of more negative stereotypes.
Head over to the Google homepage and click the turntables to try it out for yourself.

Around 30 years before Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web, McLuhan wrote about a “global village” of humanity with equal access to information through technology. In other words, the internet.
“Decades later, we honour the man whose prophetic vision of the ‘computer as a research and communication instrument’ has undeniably become a reality,” Google said.
In his book The Gutenberg Galaxy, McLuhan described four distinct ages of humanity: acoustic, literary, print age and electronic.
Google has illustrated these four eras on the 106th anniversary of McLuhan’s birth.
Who was Marshall McLuhan?
Born Herbert Marshall McLuhan on July 21 1911, the Canadian studied for a Masters English at the University of Manitoba before enrolling at Cambridge.
After graduating with a PhD, McLuhan became a lecturer, and by the early 1950s was teaching at the University of Toronto.
While there he began writing The Gutenberg Galaxy: The Making of Typographic Man (published 1962), a pioneering work which predicted that the world was entering a new age.
McLuhan proposed that history could be broken down into distinct eras: the acoustic age, the literary age, the print age, and the then-emerging electronic age.
He wrote about a “global village” which would give equal access to information through technology, removing global barriers to knowledge.
“The next medium, whatever it is it may be the extension of consciousness — will include television as its content, not as its environment, and will transform television into an art form,” McLuhan explained.
“A computer as a research and communication instrument could enhance retrieval, obsolesce mass library organisation, retrieve the individual’s encyclopaedic function and flip it into a private line to speedily tailored data of a saleable kind.”
In his follow-up, Understanding Media, McLuhan evolved his thesis to discuss how the means of communication rather than the information itself would become the most important element of the electronic age.
He coined the phrase “The Medium is the Message”, which he expanded upon in a 1967 book of the same name.
Throughout the late 1960s, McLuhan became a regular fixture on television, often debating his theory that that the method of communicating scaled and controlled “the scale and form of human association and action”.
But his work proved controversial among academics throughout the 1970s, and after his death in 1980.
The invention of the World Wide Web in 1989 gratified McLuhan’s theories.
Today, billions of people have equal access to a wealth of knowledge, with the advent of smart phones transforming humanity’s relationship with information.
