The Netflix movie has become a social media sensation.

Some viewers are claiming they can’t even make it all the way to the end of the supernatural horror.

The entire film rests on the shoulders of young Spanish star Sandra, who hasn’t just had an unsettling effect on audiences safe at home.

Even the director and casting director have confessed that she left them “so nervous” when they first saw her they were unable to even film her audition.

Plaza told El Mundo that the young actress immediately had a massive effect the first day they saw her.

He said: “We saw over 8,000 young girls across six months. We saw Sandra on the first day, the very first day and it was something magical.

“The casting director Arantza (Velez) called me that night and she said: ”I am freaked out. I know we have six months but i have just seen a girl on the first day and she made me so nervous. She had such an impact that I couldn’t (record). I need to see her again tomorrow so I can film her, so is so spectacular.’

Plaza added: “So I had incredibly high expectations, but when I saw her for the first time, it had a huge impact on me.

“She is a girl who has something in her gaze which passes through the camera.. you can’t stop looking at her. She also has something which very few people have, which is that you immediately empathise with her and feel connected emotionally with her. When she suffers you suffer, when she smiles, you smile. You easily feel very emotionally linked with her.”

MasterChef continued tonight and saw three talented chefs get through to the quarter finals. 

Towards the end of the BBC show, some viewers found themselves incredibly confused as the action was cut with the figure of a man stood by a microphone.

The seemingly out of place scene prompted a huge reaction on Twitter as fans of MasterChef begged to know what was going on. 

One posted: “What just happened?! Who was the guy with the mic?”

A second wondered: “Who in the name of Jesus was yer man in front of a mic?”

A third added: “It’s so tense, even singers stop to find out who is through!! What the f**k is this?!”

Others wondered if the whole thing was an act of subliminal message which was trying to get promote a mystery product.

“Did anyone else get a 5 sec subliminal shot of a cheesy guy with a mike at end of #MasterChef?,” asked one.

Another said: “Weird subliminal message there.”

Meanwhile, fans of Masterchef were incredibly confused by one of the contestant’s coconut potatoes. 

The Asian style dish featured coconut-friend potatoes which were covered in sprinkles of the exotic fruit. 

It didn’t really go down well with Gregg Wallace and John Torode, who found themselves “baffled” by the concoction. 

Unsurprisingly, viewers didn’t think much more of the unusual dish and flocked to Twitter to destroy the offering.

One wrote: “Mmm don’t think coconut potatoes sound very nice.”

A second fumed: “This chap on #Masterchef is surely there as a wind up. Coconut sprinkled on sautė potatoes.”

MasterChef continues tomorrow on BBC One at 7.30pm.

According to a report in Indian newspaper Deccan Chronicle, the star – who plays the titular legendary 13th-14th century Indian queen – was “disturbed” by harrowing scenes in which she ends her own life.

In the legend, Rani Padmini, also known as Padmavati, and her companions committed johar.

Padukone has been open about her own mental health over the years, so it’s understandable if playing a character in that headspace took its toll. 

A source told the paper: “It is not easy to play a character who has to commit suicide, or johar, as it is called.

“And when one is working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, he wants one to feel committed and feel the character all the time.”

They went on: “Sanjay takes his time to shoot every sequence. The build up to the johar scene and the scene itself was rather elaborate. 

“Deepika has already spoken about clinical depression earlier in her career. Hence, she does not want to do anything that will take her back to that space.”

Padukone had powerfully spoken out about depression in 2015, saying: “Overcoming it has made me a stronger person and I now value my life much more. 

“Accepting it and speaking about it has liberated me. I have stopped taking medication, and I hope my example will help people reach out for help.”

Padukone was seen in first-look images for Padmavati last month, ahead of its release in December.

She’s also thought to be returning for xXx 4 in the near future.

GENEVA (Reuters) – The top U.N. human rights official voiced concern on Monday at the Trump administration’s decision to end the DACA program for immigrants who arrived illegally as children and urged the U.S. Congress to give them lasting legal status in the country.

Referring to a move to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program in six months, affecting nearly 800,000 young migrants known as “Dreamers”, Zeid Ra’ad al-Hussein told the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva:

“I hope Congress will now act to provide former DACA beneficiaries with durable legal status. I am disturbed by the increase in detentions and deportations of well-established and law-abiding immigrants.”

The 52-year-old appeared to wear a blank stare as she told fellow housemate that the ghost of Derek Acorah’s grandmother had told him to smoking so many cigarettes. 

Spiritual medium Derek, 67, responded by telling her and the rest of the housemates: “That’s my nan, she always tells me to stop smoking.”

The moment left many people unsettled as the usually bubbly reality star really looked like she was channelling a spirit of some sort.

Many people took to social media to discuss the strange moment on the Channel 5 series with one person posting: “Nah but wtf just happened to Sandy…I’m so creeped out #CBB.”

A second questioned: “Bro what???? When Derek was doing the ghost s**t was Sandy possessed or what I’m mad confused #cbb.”

A third exclaimed: “Is Sandi possessed holy s**t #CBB.”

“Me when Sandi started channelling spirits out of nowhere #CBB,” wrote another person on Twitter along with a picture of a shocked face. 

The scenes were part of a task set by Big Brother and involved Derek summoning spirits to the Elstree Compound, leaving his housemates suitably spooked by the strange goings-on.

Among the ghosts brought to the house were apparently people who had worked at Elstree Studios previously, including someone called Malcolm who appeared to be a vengeful wraith. 

At one point Derek appeared to be talking to someone in the darkness: “So be aware you hurt my friend, my colleague, good energy.”

Moments later it seemed like there was a ghost in the room as something appeared to rush past Karthik Nagesan as he jumped and looked visibly shaken. 

“What the f**k is that all about?” he exclaimed as he hugged Derek for protection. 

Celebrity Big Brother continues on Channel 5 tomorrow at 9pm.

Scientists found interrupted slumber raises levels of toxic proteins in our bodies that are tell-tale signs of the incurable disease.

The danger affects people in middle age, and is a big worry for those suffering serious conditions, such as sleep apnea.

Researchers from Washington University School of Medicine, in St Louis, Stanford University, in California, and Radboud University Medical Centre, in the Netherlands, studied the sleep patterns of 17 healthy adults aged between 35 and 65.

They found that disrupting sleep meant people had higher levels of amyloid, a toxic protein and key hallmark of Alzheimer’s, when they woke up.

The study did not test whether people went on to develop Alzheimer’s but their findings may explain why poor sleep has been associated with the onset of dementia.

Study author Dr David Holtzman said: “We showed that poor sleep is associated with higher levels of two Alzheimer’s-associated proteins. We think that perhaps chronic poor sleep during middle age may increase the risk of Alzheimer’s later in life.”

Yo-El Ju, assistant professor of neurology at Washington University, said: “The main concern is people who have chronic sleep problems.

“I think that may lead to chronically elevated amyloid levels, which animal studies have shown lead to increased risk of amyloid plaques and Alzheimer’s.

“At this point, we can’t say whether improving sleep will reduce your risk of developing Alzheimer’s.

“All we can really say is that bad sleep increases levels of some proteins that are associated with Alzheimer’s disease. But a good night’s sleep is something you want to be striving for anyway.”

Dr Doug Brown, of Alzheimer’s Society, said: “Research is emerging that indicates poor quality sleep may be associated with a higher risk of developing Alzheimer’s.

“Getting a good night’s sleep is important for a range of different health reasons.

“If you are worried about your sleep patterns, or your memory, it’s important to speak to your GP.”

The findings were published in the journal Brain.
