Joseph met with general manager John Elway on Monday after completing a 6-10 season and was dismissed with two years and about $ 6 million US left on his contract.
"Although we decided to make this change, I believe Vance is a good football coach who has a bright future in this league," Elway said in a statement ahead of his news conference scheduled for later Monday.
"Vance made a lot of strides and deserves credit for how hard and competitively the team played this season. There's always going to be a high standard here — the bottom line is we need to win more football games. We're excited about the foundation that's being built and look forward to putting in the work to get the Broncos back on the winning track."
Despite that foundation, the Broncos' job isn't what it was just two years ago when Joseph replaced Gary Kubiak, who stepped down a year after leading Denver to the Super Bowl 50 championship.
Joseph, who's expected to be a candidate for the Cincinnati job, thanked the Broncos for giving him his first NFL head coaching job.
"It's disappointing not being able to finish what we started, but I'm incredibly proud of the players and coaches for how they fought and worked every week," Joseph said in a statement. "I also appreciate the support staffs who put in countless hours behind the scenes helping our team. This is a special place with great fans."
Still, he said, "I think we've put a lot of work in. There's a foundation that's been laid here that should pay off in the future." Joseph said he wanted to "come back and make this thing right."
Owner Stephen Ross made the move after Gase went 23-26 with the Dolphins. A 42-17 loss Sunday at Buffalo sealed his fate.

A 42-17 loss Sunday at Buffalo sealed the fate of Adam Gase as Dolphins head coach, despite the fact the team lost 13 key players to season-ending injuries. (Michael Reaves/Getty Images)
The next coach will be the Dolphins' 10th since 2004, including three interim coaches. Stuck on a treadmill of mediocrity, they've finished with six to eight wins in nine of the past 10 seasons, and haven't won a playoff game since 2000.
Last week Gase said his biggest regret about 2018 was a slew of injuries. The Dolphins lost 13 key players to season-ending injuries, including two top offensive linemen, their best run stopper, top cornerback Xavien Howard and dynamic receivers Albert Wilson and Jakeem Grant. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill missed five games.
Gase was seen as a rising young star coach when the Dolphins hired him, and even more so after they went 10-6 in his first season and made the playoffs for the only time since 2008.
Lewis' stay in Cincinnati included a record five straight playoff appearances without so much as one win.
Lewis leaves Cincinnati with an 0-7 mark in the post-season, the worst mark by an NFL coach. The Bengals haven't won a playoff game since the 1990 season, tied with Washington for the fifth-longest futility in league history.
A third straight losing season punctuated by plummeting attendance prompted change-resistant owner Mike Brown to finally cut ties with Lewis.
His firing Monday followed a 3-13 season, the franchise's worst record in 18 years and the worst in the NFL this season.
The 49-year-old was hired after Bruce Arians retired following five seasons in Arizona.
With Wilks' status confirmed, there is still one major uncertainty: Will wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald be back for a 16th season?
The Atlanta Falcons have fired offensive co-ordinator Steve Sarkasian, defensive co-ordinator Marquand Manuel and special teams co-ordinator Keith Armstrong one day after the end of the team's first losing season since 2014.
Falcons owner Arthur Blank said recently he still has confidence in coach Dan Quinn and general manager Thomas Dimitroff, but changes were expected after a 7-9 finish.
The Falcons closed with three straight wins, including Sunday's 34-32 win at Tampa Bay, but it wasn't enough to save the jobs of the co-ordinators.
Only two years after their 2016 Super Bowl season, the Falcons were hurt by injuries and inconsistent play this season, Quinn's fourth as head coach.
]]>"I think you can't go wrong with that and it brings more exposure to curling again," she said.
The Toronto native will be raising funds from calendar sales for the Sandra Schmirler Foundation. But there's a little more to it for Walker.
"I think a woman should be able to express herself in whatever way she wants," she said.
Walker said she's been getting questions about making the decision to be in the calendar and is somewhat annoyed by it. She said there's a double standard when it comes to the way people view this project.
"Brett Gallant in his boxers is cool but Laura Walker in basically her bathing suit is… why is that so different?" she said. "I think a woman should be able to express herself in whatever way she wants and show her feminine side without getting a comment about it.
"I'm really fired up about this right now."
Walker said that with the climate around this issue the way it is, she felt she needed to make a statement by being in this calendar.
"I don't think the same question would be asked of men," Walker said. "So that says we need to keep doing things like this."
This past off-season, Walker (formerly Crocker) married Brad Gushue's lead, Geoff Walker. She said when people talk to her about curling one of the first things they usually say is that she's Geoff's wife — and that doesn't sit well with her.
"I think everyone knows I'm Geoff Walker's wife but I don't think it has to go in the same sentence as my curling accomplishments," Walker said emphatically.
"I would like my curling accomplishments to be first and foremost. I'm proud as hell to be Geoff's wife but I'm a separate person."
The project started nearly 15 years ago, back when it was titled the "Fire on Ice Fundraising Calendar" and featured European athletes. It was bold. Most of the curlers were naked. All of the funds from those calendars went directly to the athletes.
In 2010, the owner and publisher of The Curling News, George Karrys, took over the project and brought it to Canada. His rule was that there would be no nudity. The other big switch was that instead of the money going to the athletes, it would go to a charity selected by the curlers.

In 2011, women were highlighted in the calendar. Then, in the lead-up to the 2014 Olympics, a Men of Curling calendar hit the shelves. Iterations of the men's and women's calendars have traded off years over the last number of seasons.
In total, the men's calendars have raised more than $ 200,000 for 22 different charities. The 2017 women's calendar raised $ 75,000. All of the calendars in the last 10 years have raised nearly $ 400,000 worldwide.
The 2019 women's calendar has a heavy focus on international curlers from Switzerland, Scotland, Japan and the U.S. However, there are some Canadians who are taking part.
The process of deciding whether or not to appear in the calendar was a little different for Lethbridge, Alta., skip Casey Scheiddeger. She's a mother and a teacher.
"I'll admit I was kind of nervous about it and not fully comfortable about it. It's for charity though so it was hard to say no," Scheiddeger said. "I'm a teacher so I'm very covered and not sexualised at all. Being a teacher I really had to consider my students might see this. My employers might see this."
She'll be donating her money to the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation. When Scheidegger went over the photo shoot with the organizers, she wanted to make sure her photo was "classy".
"I would describe it as Alberta strong. It definitely focuses on the province that I'm from," she said.
But much like Walker, Scheiddeger said there's a double standard when it comes to what people would expect from a women's calendar compared to a men's calendar.
"I think that it's tricky. The men get to be a little more funny whereas there's an expectation on the women to look really good and have that sexual aspect."
There's one more thing to all of this for Scheiddeger. She says she wants to show her two-and-a-half year old son that his mother is a strong woman in sport.
"The reason I continue to curl is that I want him to be old enough to remember that and be a good role model for him. I want him to see me pursuing my dreams because I had that as a kid with my mom. She was really involved in competitive sport was I young."

Baltimore police pushed back against swirling theories accusing Suiter’s partner of playing a part in his shooting death. Suiter was set to testify against fellow officers the day after he died.
Baltimore Police Commissioner Kevin Davis confirmed Wednesday evening that Suiter, 43, was set to testify against a squad of indicted Baltimore police officers, according to the Baltimore Sun.
But Davis stated he was told “in no uncertain terms” that Suiter was not a target of the investigation into the eight officers named in the Trace Task Force investigation, and said authorities do not have reason to believe Suiter’s death was connected to his pending testimony in a different case.
Commissioner Davis said federal prosecutors told him that Suiter was set to testify the day after his death against officers who were already indicted on charges in relation to an incident from several years ago.
“The BPD and FBI do not possess any information that this incident is part of any conspiracy,” the commissioner said. Davis added that the department’s evidence showed the shooting was a spontaneous occurrence, ignited by Suiter’s decision to investigate a suspicious person.
Suiter was killed with his own weapon on November 15, as he and his partner were following up on an investigation of a triple homicide. They encountered a person acting suspiciously in an alley, before Suiter was shot in the head with his own service weapon during an altercation with the suspect. Authorities said there is also evidence that Suiter was involved in a struggle with the suspect, according to the BPD, the Sun reported.
As he sought to quash rumours surrounding Suiter’s killing, Davis said his department obtained a private surveillance video proving that the detective’s partner had nothing to do with Suiter’s death.
“The evidence refutes the notion that Det. Suiter’s partner was anything but just that, his partner,” Davis said as he read from a prepared statement, the Sun reported. “Upon the sound of gunfire Det. Suiter’s partner sought cover across the street. He immediately called 911. We know this, because it is captured on private surveillance video that we have recovered.”
Meanwhile, all eight members of the department’s elite Gun Trace Task Force were indicted earlier this year and are being accused of shaking down citizens and conspiring with drug dealers.
Four of the officers have pleaded guilty, at least two others are cooperating with authorities and four others have pleaded not guilty. The four that pleaded not guilty are tentatively scheduled to stand trial in January.
Davis’ comments on Wednesday come on the back of statistics released In October showing that Baltimore had surpassed New York and Chicago for the most amount of murders committed in 2017.
In recent years the Baltimore Police Department has made headlines for various alleged police abuses, including the death of an unarmed black man named Freddie Gray in 2015.
In May 2015, the Justice Department under former President Barack Obama launched a federal civil rights probe of the entire department following Gray’s death.
As the probe was launched, former Attorney General Loretta Lynch stated that Gray’s death had “given rise to a serious erosion of public trust,” in Baltimore, and added that “fractured trust” between the department and the community it serves was “an understatement,”ABC News reported.

Following the disastrous Terminator Genisys, the sci-fi franchise has become somewhat stagnated.
However earlier this year James Cameron, who wrote and directed the first two films in the series announced Terminator 6, which he will produce.
Arnie is back on board and Deadpool director Tim Miller will helm the project which is set to be a direct sequel to 1991’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
Now the Austrian Oak has given an exciting update on the new movie.
Arnie said: “The sixth Terminator movie is definitely going to ignore Terminator Genisys.
“And there is a high probability that Terminator 3 and Salvation will be ignored too if this is a Terminator 2: Judgement Day sequel, as cited of late.”

Having spent its first hours establishing Michael Burnham (played by Sonequa Martin-Green) as an (almost) exemplary First Officer aboard the Shenzhou, the series this Sunday night found the convicted mutineer hitching a ride aboard the U.S.S. Discovery, where her presence was perhaps not entirely happenstance. Rather, Captain Gabriel Lorca can’t help but wonder if the notorious commander who started a war with the long-dormant Klingons might want to lend her considerable skills to helping end it.
TVLIne invited Jason Isaacs to shed some light on Discovery’s crafty captain — and weigh in on the first salvos of nitpicking.
For every person who gets excited when a Hollywood studio announces that they’re adapting a bestselling book into a feature film, there are just as many who would rather not see a film adaptation ruin the text that they love so much. However, when it comes to cinematic adaptations of classic literature that seem to play fast and loose with the source material, it’s usually for a good reason.
A new video essay makes the case for film adaptations of books, especially when it comes to classic novels, simply because they have the opportunity to take the material and make it more relatable to a new, contemporary audience. Using films such as 10 Things I Hate About You and Clueless as examples, the video essay illustrates how these classic narratives are made more interesting to a new generation of viewers by relating them to modern day issues and settings.

One could make a similar argument for remakes of movies as well. Though some remakes are just carbon copies of an original movie that doesn’t seem dated enough to require a remake to be more relatable to a new generation of viewers, some of them are satisfying updates of the movie with a cast that might be more familiar, and thus more engaging, than that of a movie that came out decades before.
Though a film adaptation may never be as good as the book in the eyes of the readers who fell in love with the text, Signature Views makes the case that there are still redeeming qualities that can make them stand on their own as a new take on a story you’re already familiar with. Try not to get caught up in the changes that movies make to your favorite book and enjoy it in a new medium that can’t always easily translate what’s on the page to the screen.
