Robert De Niro, a vocal critic of President Donald Trump, had some choice words for Fox News during a Sunday-morning sit-down with CNN’s Brian Stelter.

During an appearance on Reliable Sources, the Irishman star said that he supported the Democrats’ decision to launch a formal impeachment inquiry into Trump, who he repeatedly referred to as “crazy” and “worse than I ever could have imagined.”

Later, De Niro was asked if he ever looks at the president and thinks he’s performing for an audience. “In some ways, I think he is… as I think some of these other pundits on Fox [News] are, too,” he answered. “I can’t believe that they would actually buy into this craziness. This guy should not be president, period.”

At this point (the 3:00 mark), Stelter cut in to say that such comments are what cause “the folks at Fox [News] to come after you,” citing De Niro’s “f–k Trump” chant at the 2018 Tony Awards.

“F–k ’em. F–k ’em,” De Niro said, eliciting reactions from the off-camera crew. Stelter jumped in to remind De Niro that “This is cable, so it’s not an FCC violation [to swear], but it is still a Sunday morning.” De Niro apologized, then continued to vent about Trump.

“We are at a moment in our lives, in this country, where this guy is like a gangster,” the Goodfellas and Godfather star said. “He’s come along, and he’s said things [and] done things that we say over and over again, ‘This is terrible. We’re in a terrible situation.’ And this guy just keeps going on and on and on without being stopped.”

During the interview, De Niro also suggested that Trump, if voted out, would not leave office in 2020 without first alleging that the election was rigged — a theory that was first spouted by HBO comedian Bill Maher.

During Designated Survivor Season 3, every time a person brings to President Kirkman’s attention a video of a citizen’s testimonial, what he watches is never an actor reading from a script but actual documentary footage.

Some of the topics covered throughout the 10-episode season (now available on Netflix) include opioid addiction and the exorbitant cost of life-sustaining medicines such as insulin.

“A mother whose child died of diabetes, people addicted to opioids, people who were in a transgender therapy group…. It’s always real,” Season 3 showrunner Neal Baer tells TVLine of the video clips. “When there are people saying to Kirkman why they don’t vote [in the previous presidential election], those are non-actors telling us why they didn’t vote.”

Describing the incorporation of documentary footage into an episodic series as something that is “very different,” Baer explains, “When I was first starting out, I did a pilot with John Wells in 1991 called Night Life, which integrated documentary footage with people who work all night. It was ultimately not picked up by NBC, but I’ve had this bug in my ear ever since.”

Episode 1 of the new season ends with Kirkman bingeing a slew of videos from generally disenfranchised Americans. From there the videos get more specific, starting in Episode 2 with an American woman who tearfully describes her sexual assault as a 13-year-old bride. Building off of a public relations snafu in which Kirkman unwittingly posed with a Saudi and his child bride (assuming the girl was a daughter), the episode proceeds to expose hard truths, including how child marriage is legal in all of the United States but two (Delaware and New Jersey).

“I haven’t met one person who knows that the child marriage rate in the United States is sort of equal to what’s going on in Saudi Arabia,” says Baer. “That was why that episode is about assumptions, like, ‘Oh, my gosh, it must be worse,’ and actually it’s not. These are all real facts and figures that are supported by the data we have.”

Baer in fact shared said data with series consultant Eric Schultz, who served as Deputy Press Secretary under President Obama, asking why the issue never grabbed a real-life White House’s attention. “Eric said, ‘It wasn’t on our radar.’ I showed him the figures, and he’s like, ‘Whoa. It wasn’t on our radar.’”

Even if it had been on the White House’s radar, implementing policy to change things, as illustrated on Designated Survivor, would prove problematic and face some surprising opposition. “As [Director of Social Innovation] Isobel says, two of the most liberal organizations, ACLU and Planned Parenthood, were against it,” Baer notes. “And that’s all true. That is all out of California.”

The last time FlightSimLabs made news outside of the insular community of high-end flight simulator fans, it was for some invasive password-extractor malware included with a recent add-on package as an ostensible “anti-piracy” measure. Today, the company is again making waves for what many see as overzealous legal threats in response to legitimate discussion of the company.

Today’s controversy begins with a Reddit thread that noted FlightSimLabs’ A320 add-on installing “cmdhost.exe” files in the “system32” and “SysWOW64” folders inside the Windows directory. The strange filename and location—which seems designed to closely match those of actual Windows system files—made some Reddit users suspicious, especially given FlightSimLabs history of undisclosed installations.

FlightSimLabs responded on Facebook last Thursday by saying that the files came from third-party e-commerce service eSellerate and were designed to “reduce the number of product activation issues people were having.” This system has been acknowledged in the FlightSimLabs forums in the past, and it apparently passes all major antivirus checks.

  • White House lawyer Ty Cobb said Sunday that President Donald Trump is not considering firing special counsel Robert Mueller.
  • Trump railed against Mueller and the Russia investigation in a series of tweets over the weekend.
  • Trump’s personal attorney, John Dowd, also called for Mueller’s investigation to be shuttered.

White House lawyer Ty Cobb said in a statement Sunday that President Donald Trump is “not considering or discussing the firing of the Special Counsel, Robert Mueller,” amid increased speculation that Trump will attempt to shut down the ongoing Russia investigation.

Trump’s personal attorney, John Dowd, called on Saturday for Mueller’s probe to be shuttered. He first said the statement was made on behalf of Trump, but later walked that back and said he was speaking only in his personal capacity.

Sarah Ferguson ‘wiser’ discussing Prince Andrew in throwback Piers Morgan interview https://briefnews.eu/sarah-ferguson-wiser-discussing-prince-andrew-in-throwback-piers-morgan-interview/ https://briefnews.eu/sarah-ferguson-wiser-discussing-prince-andrew-in-throwback-piers-morgan-interview/#respond Fri, 09 Mar 2018 18:11:56 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/sarah-ferguson-wiser-discussing-prince-andrew-in-throwback-piers-morgan-interview/

Sarah Ferguson, 58, and Prince Andrew, 58, had their wedding at Westminster in the mid 1980s.

However, the couple, parents to Princess Eugenie, 27, and Princess Beatrice, 29, sadly split. Their divorce was made official in 1996, although they were separated for sometime before that.

In 2011 Sarah, often referred to as ‘Fergie’, sat down with Piers Morgan on CNN to discuss her ex-husband, as well as various other topics including Kate Middleton.

Body language expert Judi James gave her expert opinion on how Fergie was feeling at this time, when Kate Middleton was preparing to marry her fairytale prince, William.

There was quite a change in Sarah Ferguson since her wedding day, Judi claimed.

She said: “The girl we first saw bounding down the steps for her engagement interview like an eager puppy and then making Prince Andrew roar with laughter with one of her trademark open-mouthed, wide-eyed comical grins had evolved into someone looking wiser but also much sadder as she repeated her line about loving ‘my man’ four times in a very brief chat.”

As Fergie described her wedding day she seemed to be missing her previous enthusiasm, Judi said.

The expert claimed: “Her choice of words was still dramatic, calling the view of the crowds ‘mesmeric’ and ‘wonderful’ and even describing herself as ‘passionate and feisty’ but her delivery was incongruent, with the old enthusiasm, energy and bounce missing.

“Sitting forward in her chair with both arms on the table and her hands clasped in a quasi ‘pray’ position suggesting a desire to convince her interviewer, Sarah spoke to Piers in a low-key voice using a bland and masked-looking facial expression for most of her answers.

“When she told Piers that ‘My man was the most important thing to me’ she ended the statement by sucking in her lips in an expression of what looked like pained regret.”

Judi claimed that Fergie gave off mixed signals in the interview, making her true feelings hard to detect.

She added: “Sarah claimed she would not have wanted to ‘marry an ordinary guy’, but with both hands on the table beginning to ball into fist-shapes and with her fingers fiddling anxiously in a self-comfort gesture it was hard to tell if she had genuine regrets and was bluffing it out or not.”

Will Sarah Ferguson still be a Duchess if she remarries?

Fergie was called Miss Sarah Margaret Ferguson before her marriage to the Prince, after which she was bestowed a royal title.

Sarah Ferguson’s wedding day was a big day in the royal calendar that year.

There was one way Sarah threw royal rules out of the window at the wedding, and it’s all to do with her bouquet.

FBI wiretaps reportedly recorded University of Arizona head coach discussing $100,000 payment to land a top high school recruit https://briefnews.eu/fbi-wiretaps-reportedly-recorded-university-of-arizona-head-coach-discussing-100000-payment-to-land-a-top-high-school-recruit/ https://briefnews.eu/fbi-wiretaps-reportedly-recorded-university-of-arizona-head-coach-discussing-100000-payment-to-land-a-top-high-school-recruit/#respond Sat, 24 Feb 2018 06:22:59 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/fbi-wiretaps-reportedly-recorded-university-of-arizona-head-coach-discussing-100000-payment-to-land-a-top-high-school-recruit/ Sean Miller

  • According to an ESPN report, FBI wiretaps recorded University of Arizona head basketball coach Sean Miller discussing a payment of $ 100,000 in order to ensure the signing of a top recruit.
  • The news is just the latest to break from the ongoing FBI probe into bribery and corruption within college basketball.
  • When an Arizona assistant coach was arrested in September, Miller maintained that he knew nothing of potential bribes regarding recruits to the university.

Arizona Wildcats head coach Sean Miller may be the next domino to fall in the FBI’s investigation into bribery and corruption within college basketball.

According to a report from ESPN, the FBI intercepted calls in which Miller spoke with Christian Dawkins, a “runner” for sports agent Andy Miller and a central figure of the FBI’s probe. ESPN reports that Miller discussed paying $ 100,000 in order to make sure that now-freshman Deandre Ayton signed with Arizona.

Tiffany Haddish and Paul Thomas Anderson Have Been Discussing Potential Movie Ideas https://briefnews.eu/tiffany-haddish-and-paul-thomas-anderson-have-been-discussing-potential-movie-ideas/ https://briefnews.eu/tiffany-haddish-and-paul-thomas-anderson-have-been-discussing-potential-movie-ideas/#respond Fri, 02 Feb 2018 08:41:55 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/tiffany-haddish-and-paul-thomas-anderson-have-been-discussing-potential-movie-ideas/ tiffany haddish paul thomas anderson

Tiffany Haddish‘s rising star is nothing to be joked about. The comedy actress has enjoyed a meteoric rise to success since the summer hit Girls Trip catapulted her to fame. She can do no wrong: first she charmed the pants off her costars in her hit film, then she proceeded to charm everyone else in the press tour for Girls Trip, where she told a hysterical story about taking bemused global superstars Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith on a Groupon swamp tour (if you haven’t seen it yet, watch it immediately).

The actress’ vivacious personality and talent has even drawn the attention of Phantom Thread director Paul Thomas Anderson, who raved about Haddish’s ebullient performance in Girls Trip and has frequently spoken about wanting to work with her. And this may come to pass, as Haddish has confirmed that she has discussed potential projects with the award-winning director.

In a delightful interview with Vulture, Haddish revealed that she has spoken multiple times with Anderson about a potential film collaboration.

“I’ve been talking to him on the telephone! I mean, he put his phone number out there, so I had to call. I’ve talked to him a few times and we’re probably gonna work together.”

How did Haddish get Paul Thomas Anderson’s personal phone number? Well, the director was so eager to work with the actress that during his acceptance speech for Best Screenplay at the New York Film Critics Circle awards — read by Phantom Thread star Lesley Manville because Anderson couldn’t attend — Anderson squeezed in a note addressed to Haddish. “I know everyone wants to work with you now,” Anderson wrote to Haddish, “but please, may I cut to the front of the line?”

It turned out to be more than just a fun awards stunt — Anderson actually gave his number to Haddish and the actress called Anderson directly. The two have spoken multiple times about a possible project, Haddish told Vulture. When pressed about what the film could be about, Haddish said, “Well, we’ve been talking a lot about Los Angeles, back when Central Avenue was the Sunset Boulevard of L.A. I don’t know, I don’t know!”

Vulture reporter Kyle Buchanan, who conducted the interview, pointed out that this setting could be the biggest hint about the movie’s subject. Central Avenue and its famous Dunbar Hotel were once the epicenter of L.A.’s African-American culture and society, nicknamed “Little Harlem,” according to KCET. So we could be looking at a period film set in 1950s Los Angeles, where jazz and black culture blossomed. A perfect setting for the effervescent Haddish, who more than deserves to headline her own Punch Drunk Love set in ’50s LA.

This movie is currently no more than a few ideas thrown around between a director and his potential leading lady, but I can definitely foresee it happening since Anderson has been raving about Haddish. During a Reddit AMA a few weeks ago, Anderson named Haddish as the one actor he wants to work with that he hasn’t yet, and he couldn’t say enough about her performance in Girls Trip in an interview with Nerdist:

“I dare anybody to try and do what Tiffany Haddish did in [‘Girls Trip’]. That’s like a fucking magic trip how good she is in that, and I dare anybody to try and go take after take — or do one take as good as she does. She is a fucking force. She’s such a great performer.”

So after Phantom Thread wraps up its busy awards season circuit — it boasts six Oscar nominations including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Supporting Actress — we could finally see a Tiffany Haddish-Paul Thomas Anderson movie come to fruition.

Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho discussing January move with Barcelona players https://briefnews.eu/liverpool-star-philippe-coutinho-discussing-january-move-with-barcelona-players/ https://briefnews.eu/liverpool-star-philippe-coutinho-discussing-january-move-with-barcelona-players/#respond Thu, 21 Dec 2017 11:37:13 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/liverpool-star-philippe-coutinho-discussing-january-move-with-barcelona-players/

The Liverpool star is desperate to make the move to the Nou Camp next month after seeing the transfer blocked in the summer.

Barca are prepared to make an approach for Coutinho after seeing three bids rejected in the summer.

Yesterday it was claimed he had agreed a contract with Barcelona but was still waiting on the clubs to agree terms.

And Don Balon say Coutinho has been talking to Luis Suarez and international team-mate Paulinho about the situation.

But it sounds like bad news for Coutinho with Liverpool desperate to keep hold of him until the summer.

Barcelona are also trying to sign Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid.

And that deal will be easier to complete due to his release clause.

But Barca would struggle to sign both players int he same window with their finances not in great health.

“I have to point out this is a time when transfer news becomes more and more tricky, when pinning down facts is extremely difficult,” Graham Hunter told Sky Sports.

“You’ve said from the start there will be no deal in the short time, no deal last summer, no deal this Christmas (for Philippe Coutinho).

“We both know that that can change because Coutinho is, and Liverpool knows this, keen to play for Barcelona and why wouldn’t he be?

“There’s a perfect opening for him. Is that deal going to happen?

“Do they have the money for Coutinho and Griezmann? Right now they don’t have that money Guillem and therefore, were they to try and sign both, I think we will see Barcelona in the kind of trouble they were last season.

“They fed targets out to the media and could not meet those targets.”

Pence regrets Abbas ‘walking away’ from discussing region’s future after US Jerusalem move https://briefnews.eu/pence-regrets-abbas-walking-away-from-discussing-regions-future-after-us-jerusalem-move/ https://briefnews.eu/pence-regrets-abbas-walking-away-from-discussing-regions-future-after-us-jerusalem-move/#respond Mon, 11 Dec 2017 03:51:10 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/pence-regrets-abbas-walking-away-from-discussing-regions-future-after-us-jerusalem-move/

Washington regrets the decision by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas not to meet with US Vice President Mike Pence during his upcoming visit to the region. “It’s unfortunate that the Palestinian Authority is walking away, again, from an opportunity to discuss the future of the region, but the Administration remains undeterred in its efforts to help achieve peace between Israelis and Palestinians and our peace team remains hard at work putting together a plan,” Alyssa Farah, the vice president’s press secretary said on Twitter. On Saturday, Abbas’ diplomatic adviser, Majdi Khaldi, revealed that Abbas wouldn’t meet Pence “because the US has crossed red lines” on Jerusalem. Despite repeated warnings by global and regional powers, Trump declared Jerusalem the capital of Israel on December 6, triggering a strong backlash and widespread condemnation. Following the announcement, massive anti-American rallies erupted across the region, leaving some Palestinians dead, and hundreds others injured in clashes with Israeli security forces.
