Jamie Fraser (played by Sam Heughan) and Claire Fraser’s (Caitriona Balfe) romance captivated Outlander fans with their time-travelling love story. This was further enhanced by the racy scenes between the two, particularly in the first two seasons. While Claire and Jamie endured 20-years apart in different centuries, the passion between them is still there and fans have seen them in several intimate scenes since they reunited in season three. With the series currently filming season six, Sam has reflected on the development of Claire and Jamie’s romance. He explained recalled things have been a lot easier recently as he ditched a certain item from his wardrobe. “Wearing the now infamous French knee-high buckle boots that took a good ten minutes to put on each morning – each boot had around fourteen buckles, which made ‘intimate scenes’ rather difficult to direct,” Sam recalled. “How does Jamie get his boots off so quickly?” READ MORE: The Repair Shop’s Dominc Chinea gifted guest’s badge Sam went on to reveal the boots cause so much trouble, they didn’t last long. “They lasted two whole seasons, including boat journeys to the Caribbean and America,” he wrote in his book Clanlands. Sam recently went revealed how his mum Chrissie feels about watching him strip off for sex scenes. Appearing on The Kelly Clarkson Show, he explained: “So when I grew up we had a black and white television, it was one of those ones where you had to turn the dial to tune in. However, Caitriona explained: “In the book there’s a very animalistic sex scene which felt completely inappropriate to show, especially so quickly after something so horrific.” She noted it would “never have worked” if they had recreated the scene for television and would have potentially received backlash. “In the book that can work because when you’re inside someone’s head and you’re intimately connected to Claire’s thoughts, it’s exactly what she wants in that moment,” she told ELLE. We tried as much as we could to take the core of Diana’s storyline and translate it in a way that worked for our characters but also for a modern audience.” The following post contains spoilers for The Blacklist‘s Season 8 premiere. That faint scent of smoke you’re smelling after watching The Blacklist‘s return? It’s all those bridges Liz Keen burned in the very first Season 8 episode. After an abbreviated seventh season, half-animated finale and extra-long hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, The Blacklist returned to NBC on Friday, bringing with it Liz’s renewed determination to get real answers from Reddington. In the process, Liz not only doubled down on the new alliance with her mother, Katarina Rostova, but she betrayed both Red and the FBI task force, perhaps worse than she has in the past. Early on in Friday’s premiere, Katarina informed Liz that she’s seeking answers about the Sikorsky Archive and a KGB mole under the alias N13; Katarina was previously (and wrongly) accused of being N13, but she suspects it could be Dom, Red or even both of them, somehow. But in order to get the answers she wants, Katarina needed to get Dom alone, and she concocted a plan to abduct Dom — now awake from his coma — while he was being relocated to a new facility. (Dom, previously played by the late Brian Dennehy, has been recast with Guiding Light alum Ron Raines.) Despite some initial hesitation, Liz ultimately helped facilitate Dom’s abduction, completely blindsiding both Red and the task force as she did so. Dembe reminded a forlorn Red that Liz’s betrayal has always been a possibility — “Yeah, I know,” Red replied. “And I let it happen anyway.” — while the task force was obligated to launch a manhunt for Liz, who’s now on the run. She did, however, have a brief rendezvous with Ressler before she took off, and the two shared their first kiss (!) before Liz made her sudden escape, pointing Ressler’s own gun at him as she walked away. TVLine spoke with executive producers Jon Bokenkamp and John Eisendrath about the premiere, including that long-awaited smooch, the decision to recast Dom and where the task force goes from here, now that Liz is in the wind. TVLINE | I’ll admit, after Brian Dennehy’s passing, I assumed Dom wouldn’t survive his coma, and the character would no longer be on the show. But now, after watching this episode, it seems Dom is more integral than ever. Was recasting the only logical option? TVLINE | And this isn’t the first time she’s gone rogue, either. She shot Tom Connolly, she faked her own death, and on multiple occasions, the task force has given her the benefit of the doubt and brought her back into the fold. Will any of the task force members have a hard time forgiving Liz after this? That said, it is an incredibly hard position for them to be in. They have an immunity agreement with the very person that [Liz] is dedicated to doing whatever she has to do to get the truth from, and they’re law enforcement officers, and she’s breaking the law. It feels like a situation where, rather than say, “Enough, we’re done with you,” they are caught up in this very human tragedy. OK, your turn! What did you think of The Blacklist‘s Season 8 premiere? EISENDRATH | It’s always difficult to make that kind of decision. It is incredibly sad that people we’ve come to know and work with and admire have passed away. In this case, while on the one hand [Dennehy] is irreplaceable, on the other hand, the story was at a place where [Dom] was absolutely instrumental in it. He’s the central point of the story. He knows a truth that everyone is trying to figure out. So while it was a difficult decision to do, we felt it was necessary, and we hope people understand that.
TVLINE | We knew, ever since last season’s finale, that Liz was going to betray Red after siding with her mother — but her betrayal of the entire task force was more unexpected. Why have her blow up all of her relationships so thoroughly?
BOKENKAMP | The members of the task force are her friends. We don’t go into the personal lives of these characters a lot, so they do start to feel like a family, and it is a betrayal. It’s a hard decision for her to make, but it’s a binary one. I don’t think she has the ability to turn against Reddington with the task force. She feels that push is too hard, that they are aligned with him, and Katarina would argue they’re being lied to in the same way that Liz is being deceived. As difficult as this choice is, she really has no choice but to push back in the hardest way possible. The fallout from that, with all of the members — everyone has a perspective on this. It’s going to be interesting to watch how everyone reacts, how they feel about it, and what that betrayal does to the task force — how they hold together, or don’t, with this decision that she’s made.
EISENDRATH | Most of the people on the task force blame Reddington for what has happened to Liz. Before he came into her life, she had a perfect life. She had a life where she was innocent and kind and enthusiastic and loved everything about her life, and then this mystery man comes in. And these people who have been suspicious of her — who is she, what is her connection to Reddington, what isn’t she telling us — they started very cautiously embracing her. They’ve watched over these years as someone who’s just trying to learn the truth has been denied the truth all these years, and has suffered for it and has been subjected to incredible hardship. The people who know her best are willing to give her not just the benefit of the doubt, but empathy and support.
TVLINE | How do you interpret the kiss Liz and Ressler shared? It’s hard to get a read on Liz’s motivations in that scene. Is the kiss genuine? A con? A little of both?
EISENDRATH | Ressler, among everyone, was the most suspicious of Liz in the beginning. He was the most certain that she had an agenda that she was keeping from them, and over the years, he has been the one who has been closest with her in watching the pain that she has gone through — with Tom, who he initially disliked intensely but came around on, and obviously with Red. I do think there is some genuineness to it. The genuineness comes from all the years they’ve been together. It comes from their mutual understanding that they are at the end of a long journey — because this desire on Liz’s part to get the truth may lead to places that will bring them to the end of their journey — and whenever two people have this unspoken feeling for each other [and] realize that this is where they are, that latent feeling comes out. I do think it’s fine if the audience wants to read in that there is a lot of pent-up affection and emotion that is coming out in the moment.
BOKENKAMP | I agree that it is real, but I also think it’s a betrayal, right? Which is what makes the betrayal so awful.
EISENDRATH | Oh, yes, in that moment.
BOKENKAMP | In that moment, she takes his gun, it’s her way to escape and make sure he doesn’t take her in. I think it’s real, but it’s also a betrayal. That’s what’s so complex about it and potentially difficult to navigate, going forward.

Last fall, Rose shared via Instagram a (graphic) video of said surgery, which fixed two herniated discs that she says “were close to severing my spinal cord.” Just 10 days later, she told EW.com, she was back to work as a costumed crimefighter.
“Being the lead of a superhero show is tough. Being the lead in anything is tough,” Rose cops in the new interview. “But I think, in that particular instance, it was a lot more difficult because I was still recovering from my surgery. I had my surgery and then 10 days later I went to work, which maybe wasn’t the best idea. Most people take about a month or three off before they return to work.”
When Batwoman wrapped its freshman run several episodes early due to the pandemic/production shutdown, Rose said that the time then spent in quarantine gave all involved time to think. “It was a great opportunity to have a dialogue about a lot of things [with the producers],” she said. “I respect them so much and they’ve been so respectful to me.”
Looking to her own future, Rose said, “I would definitely do [TV] again. I just think that it was also time for me to take a break to fully heal and then return.” And as for the future adventures of Batwoman, to be played by Javicia Leslie (God Friended Me) as a new character named Ryan Wilder? “She seems fantastic,” Rose said of her successor, who is bisexual and the first Black actress to play a live-action Batwoman. “Honestly, I was so proud and so happy when I was told who would be replacing me…. I’m definitely going to watch the next season as well and see how it all comes together.”
Season 2 of Batwoman is set to premiere in early 2021, once again airing Sundays at 8/7c.

“I’m flattered I can do that. Shooting in Thailand with Denver, the scene about should be a stay at home mom or not, it was obvious that it was a conversation that a man would have with a woman and expect that from her.
“But she didn’t feel like it was something that was big enough for everyone.
“Even though it was small for everyone else, it was important for her to be able to fight, to defend and represent female power. I know I’m a mother but I also have other things, it’s also important.”

It won’t be long until Strictly Come Dancing fans will meet 15 brand new celebrities ready to battle it out on the dance floor.
After the announcement ballet legend Darcey Bussell would be stepping down, speculation was rife over who would replace her.
But fans didn’t have too long to wait as Motsi Mabuse was confirmed to be taking her place when the show returns in Autumn.
Ahead of the news, former champion Ore, who lifted the Glitterball Trophy in the 2016 series with Joanne Clifton, spoke of the challenges Darcey’s replacement would face.
Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Ore said: “I think whoever they choose is someone who has that wealth of knowledge. These pros know what they’re talking about.”
The star continued, explaining the difficulty the next judge will have in judging the dance experts.
Ore said: “You see them getting judged, it’s a very difficult world if you’re laying judgment on people who know more than you.
“But all the pros respect each other, any of the pros that you watch on the show, they have the respect of each other which is the foundation of the show and as soon as that gets compromised things become a problem so yeah the dance background is huge.
“These are really high stakes and it’s because of that that when they comment the couples are blown away. I’m sure they will make the right call whoever they choose.”
The father-of-one had also suggested Joanne could be the one to replace Darcey on the judging panel.

He explained: “Oh absolutely! Of course she could, anyone with that kind of experience!
“We’re talking about a ballroom world champion here as so many of them in the group are, they’re the best in the world at what they do.”
The comments come after the star revealed he won’t be watching the new series – but not because he does’t want to.
The One Show presenter said: “It actually might be difficult this year, for the first time in 15 years I am devastated as I will not be able to watch Strictly live because I’m in a musical with Jason Manford and Carly Stenson.
“I’ll be performing the musical from October so we’re on the road and we’re performing on Saturday nights, so I’m gonna have to catch up.
“I won’t be able to share in the live drama with the nation as I have done for every series before so that’s quite a big change.”
However, the star revealed he still has time for the pro he would like to see judge Strictly Come dancing 2019, after she recently watched him perform in Leeds.
Ore said: “She came up to see me and it just brought back all the memories, her parents came along and it’s just really hard not to look back at such a life changing period of time.”
Fans now don’t have too much longer to wait until this year’s line-up is announced.
Strictly Come Dancing 2019 will return to BBC One later this year.
Spurred on by the most unexpected arrival of dystopian, circa-2023 Lucy and Wyatt, the Time Team aimed to get Rufus back into the timeline, alive and well, though our Wyatt deduced that to do so, his not-pregnant sorta-wife Jessica would need to be re-removed from the equation.
Before the Time Team could do much with the quickly departing Future Lucy’s marching orders, they had to chase the Mothership to 1848 California, where Emma and Jessica aimed to activate their final sleeper agent (while gathering gold nuggets along the way). Flynn went along, but after giving Lucy the Reader’s Digest version of their ill-fated future liaison — which was referenced in Future Lucy’s journal — he sneaked off in the Lifeboat-Plus to do what Wyatt feared need be done: kill Jessica on that fateful night, as he apparently always did.
Flynn suffered through the side effects of visiting a timeline in which he already exists long enough to do the deed, after which he sent the Lifeboat-Plus back to 1848, caught a peek at himself with his happy family, and then slipped away to eventually die.
Back in the Gold Rush, Lucy, Wyatt and Jiya were being held prisoner when who should save the day but Rufus, freshly restored to the timeline by Flynn’s heroics! Emma realized the “fix” had been made when she returned to the Rittenhouse base hollering for Jessica, only to learn no such henchwoman existed. Emma made tracks for 1950 North Korea, where she bribed a pilot to crash a heliclockter helicopter carrying Lucy, Wyatt, Rufus and Jiya. Upon arriving in that wartime period, the Time Team did hitch a ride from the pilot, but survived the crash. Afterward, while waiting to commandeer a ride, they found themselves helping a young woman give birth. Lucy sought out a proper doctor, only to watch from afar as a bomb blew up the location where ersatz-midwife Wyatt had holed up with the pregnant lady. Wyatt, though, emerged from the blast perimeter with a baby girl in his arms.
After the mom and her family were delivered to safety via the Hungnam Evacuation (aka “The Miracle at Christmas”), the Time Team hid in a chapel, fearing the worst… until Agent Christopher arrived in the Mothership, with prisoner Emma acting as pilot! Emma then dangled a sweet deal before Lucy — the possible return of her sister, Amy. Lucy, though, didn’t believe Emma and made the difficult decision to let that part of her past stand pat. Emma was shot dead as Chinese forces arrived on the scene, while the Time Team piloted both time ships back to the present.
In a series of final sequences, we visited a 2023 that was not dystopian, where Lucy was a freshly tenured history professor and she and Wyatt were parents to twin girls named Flynn and Amy. Rufus and Jiya were also happily together, and had founded some sort of STEM/tech foundation smush-named RIYA. Agent Christopher was still with the government, as was Connor, and while the Mothership had been purposely destroyed, they held onto the Lifeboat-Plus just in case someone else (inevitably) invents time travel and history again needs saving. The original Time Team would use the ship one final, final time, to visit 2014 São Paolo, where Lucy needed to complete the loop by delivering her journal to a downtrodden Flynn, emotionally reassuring hm that while he would be painted as a terrorist and traitor and ally with a cause few believe in, his emerge as “maybe the greatest hero of us all.”
Then, in one last bonus scene, we saw that Paulina, a young girl who duly impressed Rufus at a 2023 science fair, was sketching ideas for a time machine….
Here is what Timeless co-creator Shawn Ryan told TVLine about the finale’s big developments.
TVLINE | For starters, I have replayed that closing montage at least a half dozen times so far. The music is terrific. Goosebumps every time.
It’s fun, isn’t it? The beginning of that song, that “Time After Time” cover, sounds a little bit like the Stranger Things theme.
TVLINE | Outside of wanting the finale to be generally “satisfying” and all that, what specifically was on your “must do” checklist?
Well, we had to save Rufus.
TVLINE | Well, yeah.
Can you imagine if we made this and we didn’t save Rufus? [Laughs] The backlash we would have endured?!
TVLINE | “Sorry, folks. Just couldn’t make it happen.”
I also think we had to deal Rittenhouse a real death blow…. We had to resolve the Lucy/Wyatt/Flynn romantic triangle of it all…. And I know that [co-creator] Eric Kripke, for months if not a year-and-a-half, has been adamant about how at some point we had to go back to São Paolo, Brazil, and see Lucy give Flynn the journal. That turned out to be this real emotional wallop in the finale, so credit to Eric for knowing that it was something that needed to be in there.
TVLINE | That scene sneaked up on me, but as it started, I was like, “Yep, this totally had to happen.” And the speech Lucy gave him made sense — it tracks that Flynn would go on to behave the way he did for two seasons.
Yeah, Eric was quite right about that. Also, because Jiya in the last couple episodes of Season 2 had lived this whole other life for three years, in the 1880s, we wanted to ask: How has that changed her? That was something that we wanted to get across. And then we wanted to find a couple of cool time periods and historical characters to deal with. That’s always been one of the not-so-secret pleasures of the show, showing the audience a time and a place that’s different from our own.
TVLINE | How did you arrive at 1950 North Korea?
As often happens in this business, you’re given some constraints — and it oftentimes leads to the best things creatively. When NBC picked up this [double-episode finale], the very strongly worded request from [network boss] Bob Greenblatt was, “We think were going to air this around Christmas, so we really want this to be Christmas-themed” We were like, “Oh, OK. Well, that takes out 363 of the 365 days a year.” It’s already hard enough to find a historical event, now we’ve got to find one around Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.
We spent three weeks, maybe, investigating. There was the idea, “What about Washington crossing the Delaware on Christmas Eve?,” and I was like, “We already had George Washington in Season 1, so it feels like that would be repetitive. We need something new and different.” And then Eric and Lauren [Greer], who wrote the episode, were like, “We think we’ve got something,” and they told me the story about the evacuation of Hungnam in 1950, during the Korean War — dubbed “The Miracle at Christmas.” I was like, “Well that’s a title, if they want this to be Christmas-themed!” The only issue was that there’s no one really of huge historical significance involved in it, and that’s when we discussed, “Wouldn’t it be beautiful if the important historical figure here isn’t a famous person but is Everywoman?” This pregnant woman that we came up with is a stand-in for everyone that isn’t written about in history books but is nonetheless important.
TVLINE | Am I right that Emma’s final acts were to 1) get gold nuggets from 1848 to then 2) make gold bars to pay off the pilot in Korea…?
She also used the time machine to pick up some art, including the Mona Lisa.
TVLINE | So Cahill was a bit right that she was phoning it in for Rittenhouse.
Yes, yes. But also by setting up the “Wanted” posters [in 1848], her plan in the first and second hour was to lure the Time Team to a place where they could be ambushed and taken out of the picture. But the gold was the main incentive for her. It was less about changing history and more about replenishing the coffers.
TVLINE | Talk about Lucy’s decision to not try to get back her sister.
There was a lot of conversation about that. I will take the credit or the blame for that one, because ultimately the more I thought about it, the more I felt that they would have to make the decision that using these time machines, even if you’re trying to do something good, ultimately is bad. That really, she’s going through a loss that is no different than the loss that almost every person goes through in their life, be it a sibling or a parent or a friend…. The speech that she gives to Wyatt in the Lifeboat, before they go back, is about how everyone finds a way through [loss], because that’s life, essentially. That is bookended afterwards when you go to five years later and they’ve named their twins Amy and Flynn — that is the circle of life, that is the progression…. To me, that decision makes them just so much more human.
Part of the fun of time travel shows in general, I have learned, is the idea that you can make mistakes and go back and change them is really intoxicating, and yet it isn’t a real option for us. The idea that she suffers the kind of loss that we all suffer and finds a way through it, she finds a way to happiness, she finds away to tenure and marriage and twins… was more life-affirming than going back and manipulating things. “I’ve lost my sister and I’m not getting her back.” And Flynn will look at his family through a window, but the reality is that he’s lost them. Tragedies happen and we can’t always change them.
TVLINE | The brief, ill-fated affair with Lucy that Flynn spoke about — when would that have been?
In the timeline that results in Future Wyatt and Future Lucy coming back from the year 2023, I think it would have existed in that timeline probably in the 2019-2020 range, I would say.
TVLINE | Was there any scenario where you weren’t going to tease the possibility for more to come, with that Paulina scene at the end?
[Laughs] No. We’re sort of like Rufus, we’re a little cocky in the idea that death doesn’t “take” with us, so to me it was important to have. We wanted to give a very satisfying conclusion to the NBC portion of this show, and what may be the end of any version of this show. At the same time, we wanted that liiiiittle crack, so that if the time comes, the set-up is there for it.
TVLINE | Do you have in mind a precipitating event for the Season 3 premiere, if there ever should be one?
Not yet! It’s a little too early. I’d have to feel some momentum and get the sense that somebody might make it, and then I’d assemble whatever writers I could and talk it through.
TVLINE | Lastly, do you have any favorite Easter eggs in the finale?
Well, my wife [The Shield‘s Cathy Cahlin Ryan] voices [Paulina’s] mom in the final scene. [Laughs] The other one that was sort of fun comes when the montage starts after the Sao Paolo scene. The very first thing we see is Flynn in his Mason Industries uniform, putting on his badge. That’s actually a scene we had shot when we made the pilot, back in March 2016, that we cut for time. We remembered that we had that and were like, “Wouldn’t it be cool if we see that, as he prepares…?” So if you look, he does look two years younger.

FOR A COUNTRY whose chief cultural export is its pubs—there are some 7,000 Irish pubs worldwide, and 8,403 on the island itself—Ireland makes it surprisingly difficult to open a drinking establishment. In both Northern Ireland (part of the United Kingdom, but with many of its own laws) and the Republic, the process is slow, pricey and fraught with uncertainty.
Both use a system familiar to anybody who has ever queued to get into a nightclub: one in, one out. Aspiring landlords must buy licences from those willing to “surrender” theirs. Moreover, buyers must prove local “need” by pointing to a growing population or the closure of nearby pubs. Objections, from existing publicans, say, can cause months of delays. Transfers of licences are approved by courts and dates for disputed cases are hard to come by, says Maura McKay, a lawyer in Belfast.
Getting a licence in Ireland…
]]>While Netanyahu is known for cleverly playing the security card in the past, there’s no guarantee that it will be enough to hold his crumbling coalition together this time. The crisis was sparked by the resignation of hawkish Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman, due to his outrage with the ceasefire deal agreed by Israel and Palestinian armed group Hamas.
I would like to say that now when we are witnessing one of the most difficult periods in terms of security, we cannot topple the government and hold an early election. That is irresponsible.
A week ago, Israel and Hamas were on the brink of a large-scale conflict after Hamas fired more than 400 rockets and mortars at Israel, while the IDF retaliated by sending its warplanes to bomb around a hundred sites in Gaza. When a truce was reached through UN and Egyptian mediation on Tuesday, Lieberman blasted the deal as “capitulation to terror” and quit.
The Defense Minister didn’t go alone, but took his whole Yisrael Beitenu party with him, which left the coalition with just a single seat majority in the Israeli parliament. Following the shock move, Netanyahu’s partners said that the government won’t be able to work effectively anymore and mulled an early election.
“We remember well what happened when sources from within the coalition caused the government’s dissolution in 1992 and 1999, leading to the Oslo disaster and the disaster of the Second Intifada,” Netanyahu argued, during a government meeting on Sunday.
By the ‘Oslo disaster’ he meant the initiation of the historic yet fruitless peace process with Palestine after secret talks in the Norwegian capital in 1993 under Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. As for the Second Intifada, it was a wave of violent attacks against Israel by Palestinians, provoked by the visit of then-PM Ariel Sharon to the Temple Mount.
Netanyahu believes an early election would be a “mistake” that Israel can’t afford “repeating” at this time. However, finance Minister Moshe Kahlon, the head of the Kulanu party, said that the crisis situation doesn’t allow for the necessary stability of Israeli economy and that a new strong government was needed. Interior Minister Aryeh Deri of the Shas party also called for an election “as soon as possible, for the sake of the country.”
Despite Netanyahu announcing that he would take the defense minister portfolio only temporarily, Haaretz sources indicated that he intends to keep it in the near future. But his main coalition partners from the Habayit Hayehudi party insist that the job should go to their man, Naftali Bennett, who now holds the post of Education Minister.
Unless the defense minister’s portfolio is given to Bennett to rescue Israel from the serious crisis of confidence in security that it is in, there is no point in the existence of a left-wing government.
“The public is fed up with voting right wing and getting the left,” Habayit Hayehudi said.

Netanyahu met with Kahlon on Sunday in order to find a solution to the deadlock, but the talks brought no results. They agreed to meet again next week, with Kahlon telling Israel Television News Company that the PM would need to “pull a rabbit from a hat” to keep the government running.
Despite his high ratings, Netanyahu dreads fresh elections as the corruption probe against him might potentially disqualify him from the vote. Investigators believe the PM provided favors to two media groups in exchange for favorable coverage and also received gifts worth $ 280,000 from businessmen.
