“Now it’ll be an episode for each character to see how they end up. So, basically it’s the same story, which is great, because we were given the opportunity to tell a great story and now it’s just gonna be a great deeper story.” Season six is expected to cap off the show with another eight episodes, so each character could be given their own episode to shine before the grand finale. Far from a rushed second half to wrap things up before the series finale, the writers now have much more space to breathe and deliver an enriching, crowd-pleasing series before Lucifer comes to an end. Lucifer Season 5, Part 1 is available to stream on Netflix. This article contains affiliate links, we may receive a commission on any sales we generate from it. Learn more
US Army
SEAL Team 6, officially known as United States Naval Special Warfare Development Group (DEVGRU), and Delta Force, officially known as 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta (1st SFOD-D), are the most highly trained elite forces in the US military.
Both are Special Missions Units (SMU) under the control of the secretive Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), they perform various clandestine and highly classified missions around the world. Each unit can equally perform various types of operations but their primary mission is counter-terrorism.
So what’s the difference between the two? Delta Force took out ISIS bad guy Abu Sayyaf in Syria; DevGru took out al Qaeda bad guy Osama Bin Laden a few years ago. Same-same, right?
Wrong.
WATM spoke with former DEVGRU operator Craig Sawyer as well as a former Delta operator who asked to remain anonymous to uncover 5 key differences between the two elite forces.

Delta Force is an Army outfit that primarily selects candidates from within their own special forces and infantry units. However, they will also select candidates from all branches of service, including the National Guard and Coast Guard.
SEAL Team 6 selects candidates exclusively from the Navy’s SEAL team community. If a candidate does not pass the grueling selection process they will still remain part of the elite SEAL teams.
“It’s a matter of can candidates quickly process what they are taught and keep up,” Sawyer says.

Both units have the most sophisticated equipment and are highly trained in Close Quarters Combat (CQB), hostage rescue, high-value-target extraction, and other specialized operations. The difference is the extensive training DEVGRU operators have in specialized maritime operations, given their naval heritage.
“Each unit has strengths and weaknesses, neither is better or worse,” according to our Delta operator source.

Delta Force operators can be vastly diversified in their training background since they can come from various units across different military branches (including DEVGRU). Delta operators will even be awarded medals of their respective branch of service while serving with the Army unit.
“No matter what your background is, everyone starts from zero so that everyone is on the same page,” says our former Delta operator.
DEVGRU operators come from the SEAL community, and while the training is intensified and more competitive, they all retain their roots in familiar SEAL training and culture.
“Candidates have proven themselves within the SEAL teams,” Sawyer says. “It’s a matter of learning new equipment, tactics, and rules of engagement.”

Although the United States of America did use to be part of Great Britain on the other side of the tiny little pond (AKA the Atlantic Ocean) and the two lands do share a primary language, there are pretty big cultural differences between the two — for one the food is different.
First of all, the UK consists of four countries, which each have its own food culture and idiosyncrasies. England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales do differ among each other in terms of palettes, but, I’ll mainly be looking at them generally and comparing the four as an item against the States.
Below are some general, main differences between the diets in the US and the UK.

Americans love their coffee, but in the UK, you’ll be more likely to find an assortment of tea with your meals. Heck, tea even has its own afternoon activity over there — but it’s not always as fancy as you think.
“A lot of my English friends’ families would have ‘tea time’ in the afternoon, but it was literally just like having a pot of tea and a little snack,” Genevieve, 25, told INSIDER about living in England as a kid. “The fancier ‘scones and clotted cream, drinking from delicate China’ afternoon tea is generally reserved for slightly more special occasions.”

Because certain Brits don’t have to worry about drinking laws outside their favorite pubs, they can leisurely enjoy their favorite alcoholic beverages in the light of day without worry. In the US., people can enjoy these same privileges in only a few places – Las Vegas, New Orleans, and Key West to name a few.
Chantal, 27, says the biggest difference between the diets in the US and the UK, to her, is the drinking culture.
“Consuming alcohol is legal in public spaces in England, so as soon as the weather turns bearable (and sometimes when it’s not), the streets are jam-packed with people outside pubs having a pint and enjoying the great outdoors,” she told INSIDER. “So yes, alcohol consumption is higher, but the freedom to order a drink at a bar and then walk outside with it is a liberty Americans in the UK do not take for granted.”
“My favourite weekend scene in the summer isn’t the boisterous streets, however, but the sprawling parks full of picnic-goers drinking chilled wine and cold beers,” she continued. “No need to sneak lukewarm rosé in water bottles here! (Not that I’ve ever done that … I swear.)”

As opposed to your regular cheap, thin pizza in New York City or a jumbo slice in Washington, DC, you’ll find more kebab-style late-night food options, instead.
“When I lived in New York, cheesy, greasy, 99-cent slices of pizza were the go-to, of course (I once threw a sidewalk tantrum on a date, demanding Artichoke Pizza),” Genevieve said. “In London, though, late-night kebab shops are where it’s at, so now I throw sidewalk tantrums demanding falafel wraps covered in garlic sauce.”

Last May, FX’s sister network FXX gave a straight-to-series order for a Deadpool animated series that had actor, writer, director, producer, comedian and Grammy-winning R&B recording artist Donald Glover attached as showrunner, executive producer and writer. However, after working on the project for nearly a year, both Donald Glover and FX have left the project due to creative differences.
News of the Deadpool animated series canceled comes from Variety, who confirmed that FX, Marvel and Donald Glover have all parted ways on the project. However, this doesn’t appear to create a rift between FX and Marvel because they will still collaborate on the FX series Legion from Noah Hawley.
FX reportedly said “creative differences” were the reason for the shake-up, but it’s not clear where those differences came from. One would think that FX would get along with Donald Glover since they have quite a lucrative relationship collaborating on the Emmy-winning comedy series Atlanta. Plus, Marvel and FX have been working together on Legion. And on top of that, Donald Glover had a role in the Marvel-produced Spider-Man: Homecoming. So what happened here?
One possible explanation, albeit an entirely speculative one with no evidence to support it, might be the continuing development with 20th Century Fox being purchased by the Walt Disney Company. Maybe Donald Glover and FX wanted to go for an edgier animated series than Marvel Television was willing to move forward with, perhaps thinking about a possible future with Disney. That seems like as likely as it is unlikely though, so who knows what the problem really was.
Another potential reason for the split between FX, Marvel and Donald Glover might be that the latter is just too busy to tackle the Deadpool animated series properly without spreading himself too thin. After all, he has complete control over his series Atlanta, and he’s now Lando Calrissian in Solo: A Star Wars Story. And if he’s the breakout favorite of the movie as early reactions to the trailer indicate he may be, then he might have A Star Wars Story of his own to lead in the future.
No matter the reason, this is rather disappointing. Donald Glover spent time writing the Deadpool animated series with his brother Stephen Glover (who was on the writing staff for Atlanta) during production for the aforementioned Star Wars project, and we would have liked to see what the writer brought to the table for the Merc with a Mouth.
As of now, it’s not clear if Marvel Television will try to develop the series with new creative talent, or if they’re going to let the project die. At the very least, Deadpool fans won’t have to wait long for more Merc with a Mouth action since Deadpool 2 is coming to theaters in May.

Politically, Americans are more divided than ever.
When it comes to issues of race, immigration, national security, and environmental protection, they disagree about how the government should handle things like never before.
Relative to polls in the 1990s, Republicans are now much more likely to say poor people have it easy, while Democrats are less likely to say so. Conservatives are also more likely to say that environmental regulations are costing the US too many jobs. Liberals now seem less convinced that peace can be achieved through military strength than they were decades ago.
The Pew Research Center reports that the country’s political divisions now far exceed “divisions along basic demographic lines, such as age, education, gender and race.” The share of Americans who sit in the middle of the political spectrum is lower, too.
Russian bots are taking advantage of these widening differences on Facebook and Twitter in an attempt to drive Americans’ opinions further apart.
But what in the brains of conservative and liberal voters actually drive their belief systems? Scientists have been researching the psychological differences between people with different stances, and there are a few key ways that people on opposite ends of the political spectrum see the world. Here’s what the data shows:
Shutterstock
Decades of research has shown that people get more conservative when they feel threatened and afraid.
Threats of terrorism make everyone less liberal — researchers found this was especially true in the months after 9/11. During that time, the US saw a conservative shift, and Americans displayed increased support for military spending and for President George W. Bush.
Americans aren’t the only ones whose political leanings are influenced by fear. A 2003 review of research conducted in five different countries looked into 22 separate tests of the hypothesis that fear fuels conservative viewpoints and found it was universally true.

Brain scans show that people who self-identify as conservative have larger and more active right amygdalas, an area of the brain that’s associated with expressing and processing fear. This aligns with the idea that feeling afraid makes people lean more to the right.
One 2013 study showed conservative brains tend to have more activity in their right amygdalas when they’re taking risks than liberals do.

Groundbreaking research that Yale psychologists published in 2017 revealed that helping people imagine they’re completely safe from harm can make them (temporarily) hold more liberal views.
The authors of that study said their results suggest that socially conservative views are driven, at least in part, by people’s need to feel safe and secure.
That finding didn’t hold true for people with economically conservative views, though.

Now that the new Silverado has made its debut, we’re awaiting the reveal of its mildly restyled twin, the GMC Sierra 1500. While it likely won’t be that different as far as capability and major equipment are concerned, we are looking forward to seeing what design changes it will have. Based on these recent spy shots, the changes will be mild, but still enough to make it visually distinctive.
One of the more obvious differences will be in the front fascia treatment. Unlike the Silverado’s grille that’s level with the top of the headlights, the GMC’s will rise above the lights, which will also yield a slight drop on each side of the hood to meet the lights. The grille is quite tall, extending far below the headlights, too. We can make out, behind some mesh, two dips on the outer edges of the grille that give the Sierra a more menacing frown. Large foglights are also found right near where the scoops for the wheel air curtains, and the headlights are unified on the edges, rather than split on the Silverado.
Along the sides, the sheet metal looks relatively unchanged. At some angles, we can make out the distinctive shoulder line from the Silverado that runs up to about the rear mirrors where it stops to make room for another crease that rises up from somewhere in the middle of the front doors to lead to the front. The wheel arches are decidedly different from the Silverado’s though. While the Silverado has fairly rounded arches, the Sierra’s have a rear-slanted bevel to the fronts of the arches and a rounded 90-degree corner at the rears.
There isn’t much we can tell about the rear except for the taillights. They’re quite large, and unlike the Silverado’s, there aren’t any areas where the sheet metal intrudes. It also appears that the tops of the taillights extend farther forward into the bed sides than the Chevy’s.
Because the Sierra has almost always been a mechanical twin of the Silverado, we expect it to offer the same 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V8s, as well as the new 3.0-liter diesel inline-6. Also, being a GMC, it will likely have a flashy, chrome-laden Denali trim level. We also will see the fully revealed model soon, as Automotive News reports the debut will be on March 1.

If you are someone who happens to be both A) a parent, and B) American, chances are pretty good that, at some point, at least one person in your life has told you that you need to start parenting like someone from a different country.
Exactly which country you should try to emulate in your parenting style, however, is up for debate. Some popular options are Denmark (where both parents and children are purported to be happier than their American counterparts), Germany (the parents there “encourage kids to play with fire,” to supposedly great results), and, of course, the old favorite France (French children are famously well-behaved).
One country that tends to be left out of this aspirational parenting narrative? England.
This, as it turns out, is not exactly fair. They may not be as publicized, but the Brits do have more than a few useful parenting tips up their collective sleeve. And, unsurprisingly, most of their techniques are quite different than those you might come across in an American parenting handbook. Check out what they are here:

According to The Telegraph, it is possible to get up to 52 weeks of maternity leave in the UK. This is certainly a substantial lot more than the United States, where some working mothers aren’t guaranteed a single day of maternity leave. (And, for what it’s worth, it’s also a lot more than the rest of the EU, where new mothers can expect to get about 14 weeks of leave.)

In many American households, using foul language of any sort as a child is a good way to get in big trouble. (Or, at the very least, have your mouth cleaned out with soap.)
In the UK, it’s less of a big deal — according to BBC America, swearing isn’t as much of a taboo as it is in the states, so if a kid lets a bad word slip, it’s not exactly the end of the world.

In the UK, it’s not out of the ordinary to walk into a bar and see a few kids running around. Many pubs in Britain have a more lax, open feel than American ones (and maybe even a garden in the back), so it’s easier for parents to head to an occasional happy hour. Instead of paying for a babysitter, all they have to do is bring their kids with them to the neighborhood bar.

The study appeared Thursday in the Scientific Reports journal. Scientists at the North Shore University in Illinois compared the genomes of 1,077 gay and 1,231 straight men of “primarily European ancestry,” and found differences in two genes.
The first, SLITRK6, is behind brain development and hormone production. It is particularly active in the hypothalamus region of the brain, which previous studies have shown are up to 34 percent larger in gay men. Differences were also found in another gene, TSHR, responsible for thyroid function, which previous studies also linked to sexual preferences as well as weight loss.
“Because sexuality is an essential part of human life — for individuals and society — it is important to understand the development and expression of human sexual orientation,” lead author Dr Alan Sanders told The Telegraph.
“The goal of this study was to search for genetic underpinnings of male sexual orientation, and thus ultimately increase our knowledge of biological mechanisms underlying sexual orientation.”
Not all men who have the “gay” variants of the gene end up that way, however.
“There are probably multiple genes involved, each with a fairly low effect,” Sanders told the New Scientist. “There will be men who have the form of gene that increases the chance of being gay, but they won’t be gay.”
In their report, the scientists warned that their findings are “best described as speculative,” though they may pave the way for more conclusive studies. Other experts too expressed caution, as studies such as this usually involve a much larger and more diverse sample size.
“As this study was carried out in European men, we do not know whether the findings will apply to homosexuality in women, or even to homosexuality in non-European men,” Dr Nina McCarthy of the University of Western Australia told Cosmos magazine.
“All that is required to see a genetic association in this study is for slightly more homosexual men to carry the genetic variant than heterosexual men, and many times this will simply be due to chance.”
Research on genetic factors in sexual preferences has been ongoing since 1993, when genetic variations were found between gay and straight men on the X chromosome, a phenomenon that was dubbed by the media as the “gay gene.” Supporters of LGBT rights back the ‘gay gene’ theory, as it renders sexual attraction a factor outside of a person’s control rather than a hedonistic lifestyle choice.
But according to Dr Ilan Dar-Nimrod of the University of Sydney, this may inadvertently lead to more homophobia by framing gays as an ‘other.’
“In this instance, it results in a heterosexual person feeling a clear ‘us’ and ‘them’ that leads to distancing from ‘them’ (i.e. gay people). Such a feeling may fuel prejudice,” Dar-Nimrod told Cosmos. He said further that the recent movement for same-sex marriage in Australia was characterized by “seeing sexual choices among consensual adults as their own business, rather than a moral issue.”
