At the heart of “House of the Dragon,” there’s much more going on than scheming, warfare, and oversized egos — though there’s plenty of that to go around. But before the inevitable storm, we got a taste of the peace: when princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (Milly Alcock) and her best friend Alicent Hightower (Emily Carey) could peacefully lay in the Godswood, talking about cake and their favorite warrior princesses. Now, several episodes in, the Targaryen civil war we’ve been promised has yet to begin, but the seeds of it have certainly been planted. There’s tension between Alicent, Rhaenyra and so many more, meaning it won’t be long before anger and jealousy envelop everything else.

The other element that doesn’t bode well for their relationship is how quickly “House of the Dragon” moves through time. In just a few more episodes, the younger actresses will step away from their roles to be replaced by Emma D’Arcy (as Rhaenyra) and Olivia Cooke (as Alicent). What will such a significant time jump mean for their relationship? So far, things aren’t looking great. Alicent’s already gone through quite the transformation. Once an anxious teen, she’s now considered an adult in the eyes of the realm: she has a husband and son, with another child on the way. Oh yeah, and she’s the Queen of Westeros — thanks to marrying Rhaenyra’s father, Viserys (Paddy Considine).

For Carey, Alicent Hightower was a daunting role to tackle — especially since the series is a followup to the massively popular “Game of Thrones.”

How Alicent’s Costume Changed Everything

Understandably, bringing Alicent to the screen meant tangling with her own nerves, but thankfully, the immersive experience of filming “House of the Dragon” helped her truly get into character. During a chat with Collider, Emily Carey explained that her costume made the biggest difference:

“I remember stepping onto set in my costume, and for a camera test, you don’t get any dialogue. You just are put in front of a camera and have to walk around a little bit. I remember that I was itching to just do it. I’d stepped on set and it was so immersive. The costumes pull your shoulders back and they change the way you walk.”

Actors have often expressed this sentiment when it comes to costume dramas: donning the outfit can be transformative. This seems especially true when it comes to a character like Alicent, whose costumes speak volumes about her actions. As early as in the first episode, Alicent is instructed to wear her mother’s dresses, because her father wants her to look older and more desirable for the king. For Carey, that physical change made the camera test feel very real and in-the-moment:

“I was there with Milly. It was just the two of us. And I remember looking at her like, “This is it. What do I say? Come on, give me something to do now.” It suddenly became very real, and it felt so right. Suddenly, a lot of my nervousness had gone away because I was there and everything clicked. Will Rhaenyra And Alicent’s Friendship Survive?

While there’s no doubt that the D’Arcy and Cooke will blow us away by tackling older versions of the two girls, it’ll be a shame to see Carey and Alcock go. The young actresses have poured a lot into the teenage characters and essentially built the foundations of the conflict to come. In the same interview, Carey discussed their complex dynamic and revealed more about how she and Alcock conceptualized the relationship:

“When you’re 14, especially when you’re a girl, the relationship that you have with your best friend is a closeness like no other. It toes the line between platonic and romantic. I don’t think you even know what those words mean at 14. You don’t know what the feelings mean. It’s just this need to be with that person. You love them with your whole being, and you just adore them. I think that’s the case for Alicent and Rhaenyra, which is what makes it so heartbreaking when their relationship starts to demise.”

This will be a crucial sentiment as “House of the Dragon” approaches a major time jump and gears up for its next chapter: is there any hope that Rhaenyra and Alicent will remember what they once meant to one another? Only time will tell.

“House of the Dragon” airs new episodes weekly on Sundays on HBO and HBO Max.

BBC JOURNALIST and radio presenter Bill Turnbull died this week aged 66. The dad-of-three was diagnosed with prostate cancer – the second largest cancer killer among men in the UK – back in 2017. But in the time leading up to his death Bill admitted he missed some of the early warning signs of the disease.

American Airlines staff didn’t let an unaccompanied minor buy food during a layover https://briefnews.eu/american-airlines-staff-didnt-let-an-unaccompanied-minor-buy-food-during-a-layover/ https://briefnews.eu/american-airlines-staff-didnt-let-an-unaccompanied-minor-buy-food-during-a-layover/#respond Sat, 03 Sep 2022 09:53:15 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/american-airlines-staff-didnt-let-an-unaccompanied-minor-buy-food-during-a-layover/ Boeing 787 Dreamliner American Airlines. Aircraft to Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci Airport. Fiumicino, Italy, on July 14th, 2022.
An American Airlines Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

  • A teenager traveling alone for the first time was not allowed to buy food on a layover.
  • He was told by staff to stay with the group despite seeking permission multiple times.
  • He was left hungry on a near-two hour layover due to likely "staff shortages", his stepmom was told.

American Airlines did not allow a 15-year-old to buy food during a layover between flights after he asked staff for permission multiple times.

The teenager was flying unaccompanied from Jacksonville, Florida, where he was visiting his sister, back home to Albany, New York via Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

The layover was supposed to be for an hour, but ended up being almost two as his flight was delayed, which Insider verified via flight details.

The incident is the latest involving American Airlines' treatment of unaccompanied minors reported by Insider amid a summer of travel chaos. The airline sent a 12-year-old child to the wrong state in June, and it lost a child's passport in July.

Jennifer Roback, the boy's sister, told Insider that he was not allowed to get food from a shop in the terminal just a few feet away as he had to stay with a group of other unaccompanied minors at all times on the layover.

"He didn't have breakfast so he hadn't eaten all day and was just left hungry," she said.

When the teen first asked the accompanying staff member he was told to ask someone else, Roback said, as that person was not the assigned leader. He then asked another person a few more times but was continually refused.

"I was upset about it because my brother's never flown alone before so it was a big trip for him," she said. "It bothers me that his way back wasn't great and I was angry for him."

When his step-mom picked him up from Albany airport, she went to the American Airlines desk to find out what happened. They apologized and told her it was probably due to staff shortages, she said.

"I know that there have been a lot of staff shortages because of the pandemic, but I feel like companies are now just trying to use that as an excuse," Roback told Insider. "It's one thing if someone closes a register at a grocery store, but it's another thing when you deny children food."

Roback messaged American Airlines on Twitter on August 8 about the incident and the airline responded: "If your brother had money to grab a bite to eat, our team should've had someone take him. DM his record locator and we'll pass this on."

American Airlines did not respond to Insider's request for comment.

‘I didn’t put Empress of World on mine’ Hartley-Brewer mocks Meghan birth certificate row https://briefnews.eu/i-didnt-put-empress-of-world-on-mine-hartley-brewer-mocks-meghan-birth-certificate-row/ https://briefnews.eu/i-didnt-put-empress-of-world-on-mine-hartley-brewer-mocks-meghan-birth-certificate-row/#respond Mon, 01 Feb 2021 11:10:11 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/i-didnt-put-empress-of-world-on-mine-hartley-brewer-mocks-meghan-birth-certificate-row/

Meghan Markle has hit back at critics after it emerged that the Duchess of Sussex’s given first names ‘Rachel Meghan’ were removed from son Archie’s birth certificate. The Duchess rebuked suggestions that she had wanted to be “nameless” on her own child’s birth certificate, before adding that the Palace asked for her to make the change.  Speaking on This Morning, Julia Hartley-Brewer mocked the Meghan Markle birth certificate row.

On the original certificate for Archie, registered on May 17, 2019, the Duchess gave her name as “Rachel Meghan Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex”.

However, less than a month later, the Duke and Duchess submitted changes to their names, with Meghan’s name “corrected” to merely read “Her Royal Highness Duchess of Sussex”.

Ms Hartley-Brewer said: “Surely, is there anyone, anyone at all who actually cares about this?

“I don’t even understand why their titles are included in terms of the names.”

JUST IN: Meghan warned snubbing Queen with no UK return will fuel royal row

This Morning host Holly Willoughby responded: “I think she cares about it, doesn’t she? I think everyone has a right to be represented fairly.

“That’s a really simple thing that every human being wants and desires, and she is the same.”

Ms Hartley-Brewer said: “I just had Julia Hartley-Brewer on the birth certificate for my daughter, I didn’t put Empress of the World on mine either.

“Does it really matter in the big scheme of things? The fact that everything this woman does becomes front page news.

“I’m not a fan of hers particularly but I think people need to give her a break.”

In response to the reports, a spokeswoman for the Duchess of Sussex said: “The change of name on public documents in 2019 was dictated by The Palace, as confirmed by documents from senior Palace officials.

“This was not requested by Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex nor by The Duke of Sussex.”

The Voice Recap: Which Contestants Survived Night 2 of the Battles — and Which Major Contender Didn’t? https://briefnews.eu/the-voice-recap-which-contestants-survived-night-2-of-the-battles-and-which-major-contender-didnt/ https://briefnews.eu/the-voice-recap-which-contestants-survived-night-2-of-the-battles-and-which-major-contender-didnt/#respond Wed, 11 Nov 2020 02:25:03 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/the-voice-recap-which-contestants-survived-night-2-of-the-battles-and-which-major-contender-didnt/ Let the head-scratching begin. During Night 2 of The Voice’s Season 19 Battles, three more contestants were given the hook, including one that, for my money, could’ve given Gwen Stefani her first-ever win. Who went down for the count before the Knockouts had even begun? Read on…

Team Kelly: Desz (Grade: B+) defeated Joseph Soul (Grade: B) on “If You Don’t Know Me by Now” — Joseph stolen by Gwen | After their first run-through, Kelly warned that she’d heard some pitchy parts. Ruh-roh. Advisor Leon Bridges recommended that Joseph sell the more subdued moments that he might’ve shied away from rather than belt to keep up with Desz. “I don’t want to be left in the dust,” he admitted. On stage, Joseph looked nervous but sounded fine. Desz, on the other hand, looked like she was born and raised in the spotlight and sounded amazing. As the song went on, Joseph stepped up his game, but then, so did Desz — to heights that he just couldn’t reach.

the voice recap jim ranger desz battlesTeam Blake: Jim Ranger (Grade: A) defeated John Sullivan (Grade: B+) on “Good as You” | In rehearsal, Blake had no sooner assigned his team members Kane Brown’s hit than he introduced their advisor… Kane Brown. No pressure, fellas. Running through the number, both guys’ tones were really cool, but Jim’s tendency to explode seemed likely to outshine him. By the same token, Blake warned him not to sing at but to the audience, prompting Jim to admit that yeah, he suffered from a condition known as oversinging. When the spotlight fell on J&J, John’s natural appeal served him well, but Jim’s richer, pointier voice stood out. Like, way out. They sounded terrific together once they really got going, but there was no question in my mind that Jim had won: Dude’s a showstopper.

the voice recap jim ranger desz battlesTeam Legend: John Holiday (Grade: A-) defeated Julia Cooper (Grade: B-) on “Summer Soft” — Julia saved by John (thus sending her to a four-way Knockout) | John assigned his duo a ridiculously challenging Stevie Wonder classic — and they actually rose to the challenge. Advisor Miguel then went and upped the ante by suggesting they pick even more places in the complicated song to embellish. It was gonna be a Faberge egg wrapped in a spiderweb by the time they were done! On stage, John seized every opportunity to show off, but Julia nonetheless impressed at first with her cool lower register. As the performance went on, Julia often seemed to be kinda yelling to me, whereas John, doing the same thing, came off more melodic. “I don’t even understand how you’re real,” Gwen told John when they were done. His range was unbeatable, despite the many and varied ways that Julia wowed the coaches.

And given short shift in a quickie montage were Tanner Gomes defeating Skylar Alyvia Mayton to remain on Team Kelly, and Chloe Hogan defeating Lain Roy to hold onto her spot on Team Gwen (meaning that argh, Gwen dumped an actual potential winner).

Was anyone else as stunned as I was that Gwen cut Lain? Or as bummed that Blake cut John? At least I could see how he lost to Jim Ranger. Vote for your favorite of the night below, then hit the comments.

A Place In The Sun’s Ben Hillman hits back at guest’s ‘brutal’ jibe: ‘Didn’t expect that’ https://briefnews.eu/a-place-in-the-suns-ben-hillman-hits-back-at-guests-brutal-jibe-didnt-expect-that/ https://briefnews.eu/a-place-in-the-suns-ben-hillman-hits-back-at-guests-brutal-jibe-didnt-expect-that/#respond Tue, 01 Sep 2020 18:07:36 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/a-place-in-the-suns-ben-hillman-hits-back-at-guests-brutal-jibe-didnt-expect-that/

A Place In The Sun saw Ben Hillman jet off to Malta to help Sharon and Nev from Salisbury hunt for the perfect home. Having visited the Island three times a year for the past few years, the couple felt a strong connection and were hoping to make the move from the UK to Malta permanently, should the right property come up on the market. With a budget of £160,000, Ben delivered five great options for them to view, but it wasn’t long before the prospective buyers were disappointed by how much their money could buy them versus what they had in mind.

Easy access, two bedrooms, outside space and close to the city centre, Ben didn’t hold back when it came to being realising with what they could afford.

“Crikey!” The presenter remarked. “This looks like it could be one of my toughest searches yet.

“The average price of a two-bed is £225,000, so we will have to start smaller.”

The first property was indeed a one-bedroom apartment in Cospicua, and ten minutes walk from the waterside.

It was fully renovated with bags of character and modern touches to the interior.

“I’m pleasantly surprised!” Sharon said as they stepped through the front door.

While the kitchen was a “good size” and the bedroom “not a bad space” it was the outdoor courtyard which Nev and Sharon felt let down over.

“This is a real shame,” Sharon commented. “We thought we could make it work, until we saw the outside space, and then we were a little disappointed.”

Ben had to up his game for the second property and he did just that with a three-bed apartment in Zabbar.

It was however on the second floor, and was one of six in the block.

“I’m going to keep an open mind,” she told Ben.

Stepping inside, they soon learnt they would need to install a kitchen, but enjoyed the “blank canvas”.

“It’s massive!” Sharon remarked.

“Does this excite you?” Ben asked to which the inside of the property did, but the noise was too much for them to bear.

The penultimate apartment boasted one bedroom and was 20 minutes from the airport.

It was valued at £159,091 at the time of filming and had two balconies, both with sea views.

The curb had no appeal to Sharon and Nev and Channel 4 viewers saw Ben reply with: “Not the best response, but I hope once they get up there and see the views they will change their mind.”

“That’s very small,” Sharon commented on the kitchen, and Nev said the “stairs were too much”.

“I don’t like the bathroom next to the kitchen, that is not good. And it’s really old,” Sharon continued.

“This is it guys, our final property, and I think the best of the best properties available for your budget. It’s first floor, with a lift, outside space, three bedrooms,” Ben rejoiced for fifth apartment.

“Positive, can’t wait to get inside How much is it?” Sharon said cutting straight to the chase.

“I think it’s a fantastic price, on the market for over £163,000,” Ben said before adding the owner would consider offers at the top end of the couple’s budget.

“The way I see this place, is it’s mainly cosmetic,” the presenter said referring to the bold and brash interior design.

“It needs gutting,” Sharon stated when she looked at the kitchen cupboards and Ben hit back: “I wasn’t expecting you to be that brutal!”

And it seems the furniture was proving difficult for Sharon and Nev to look past.

“Our heart says yes, but our head says there is a hell of a lot of work to do,” Nev explained.

As a result, they rejected every single property Ben showed them.

Alex and Michael told to ‘stop’ by emotional Nadiya Hussain: ‘Didn’t come here to cry’ https://briefnews.eu/alex-and-michael-told-to-stop-by-emotional-nadiya-hussain-didnt-come-here-to-cry/ https://briefnews.eu/alex-and-michael-told-to-stop-by-emotional-nadiya-hussain-didnt-come-here-to-cry/#respond Tue, 25 Aug 2020 20:41:29 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/alex-and-michael-told-to-stop-by-emotional-nadiya-hussain-didnt-come-here-to-cry/

The One Show has seen multiple guest hosts join regular star Alex Jones in the hot seat in recent months and once again, Michael Ball was on the famous sofas alongside her. The hosts were joined by previous GBBO winner Nadiya Hussain, who has been baking for key workers throughout the lockdown period but the star was left touched after some kind words from fans this evening, which led her to ask the pair to “stop” what they were doing.

Nadiya openly spoke out about her experiences during lockdown and how she has coped before being given some lovely messages from One Show viewers.

However, the flurry of compliments left Nadiya close to tears while she sat down with the duo in the studio.

Michael told her: “This is lovely from Liz, who got in touch to say she suffers from anxiety and depression and panic attacks – something you’ve been talking about.

“She thinks you’re fantastic Nadiya because you shine a light on this topic,” he said.

He proceeded to read out the comment, continuing: “The way Nadiya continues to challenge things is an inspiration to me and I sometimes tell myself, ‘Be more Nadiya.’”

Nadiya was left overwhelmed by the compliment, quickly responding: “Aw, that’s so… be more you, always be more you!”

She added: “That’s so sweet, oh my goodness.”

She went on to ask the pair to refrain from reading any more messages, saying: “Oh stop! I did not here to cry!”

She continued: “This is what baking does, it’s pretty special and I think we’ve all had the opportunity to step down and say, ‘You know what? What it is that allows us to focus and just be who we are?’ It’s a wonderful thing.”

The star also detailed what she had been up to during lockdown, explaining how she had been enjoying camping in the garden.

Nadiya told the hosts: “Yeah. I like camping, we just camped in the garden.”

“Come on, you snuck indoors and had a shower!” Michael joked.

Nadiya replied: “Only for a cup of tea! It was nice to be just close to the house and do something, a nice change.”

The famous baker also opened up about how she had got into baking in the first place after Alex quizzed her on the topic.

Host Alex admitted she was surprised to find out from Nadiya’s new book that she had not been baking for as long as she thought.

Alex said: “I assumed you were someone who baked from a very young age!” with the pair going onto talk about Nadiya’s husband who “inspired” the move.

The baker said she had recently celebrated her 15th-anniversary with her husband, which led Alex to remark: “Congratulations, especially after lockdown… I’m saying nothing!”

Later on, the trio had another famous face on the line, in the form of comedian Jimmy Carr.

He even showed off a baking creation of his own and spoke out about how his fellow guest had inspired him to have a go at the popular lockdown activity.

However, he did admit he had a few difficulties and had accidentally iced the cake while it was still warm, making for a slightly messy finish.

Michael was not impressed with Jimmy’s cake and bluntly told him: “That looks awful, Jimmy!”

The One Show airs weekdays from 7pm on BBC One.

Yellowstone Season 3 Finale Recap: Land Whoa! — Plus, Who Didn’t (Appear to) Survive to See Season 4? https://briefnews.eu/yellowstone-season-3-finale-recap-land-whoa-plus-who-didnt-appear-to-survive-to-see-season-4/ https://briefnews.eu/yellowstone-season-3-finale-recap-land-whoa-plus-who-didnt-appear-to-survive-to-see-season-4/#respond Mon, 24 Aug 2020 02:16:15 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/yellowstone-season-3-finale-recap-land-whoa-plus-who-didnt-appear-to-survive-to-see-season-4/ Warning: The following contains spoilers for the Season 3 finale of Yellowstone that are so colossal, there should be a better word than spoilers to describe them. If you want to be surprised when you watch (and haven’t done so yet), giddy-up and away!

Well, damn! Nobody can say that Yellowstone doesn’t know how to keep its audience on the edge of their seats — or, for that matter, how to knock ’em right the hell off. Sunday’s Season 3 finale was one shock after another — to the point that, although I think we’d all love it if Season 4 started next week — it’ll probably take us until next summer to really recover. What happened? What didn’t! Read on, and as the smoke clears, we’ll discuss.

Yellowstone Recap Season 3 Episode 10 Finale John shot‘HE’S LIVING PROOF THAT ONLY THE GOOD DIE YOUNG’ | As “The World Is Purple” began, tensions were running high in the bunk house. Not only was Mia perturbed about Jimmy having been branded, but Lloyd was understandably a bit crestfallen to see Laramie waking up in Walker’s bed. At Garrett’s place, Jamie’s biological father shared the sordid story of the day that he killed his boy’s mother. He’d come home from a long haul to find Jamie screaming, using a crack pipe for a substitute nipple, and his mother getting screwed over the sink. “I knew that you had only one chance in life,” Garrett said, “and that was without her in it. So I did what I did” — and looking at what Jamie had become, he didn’t regret it, either. When talk turned to Yellowstone and how Jamie was about to lose the place that he’d been raised to run, Garrett told him that it wasn’t a place but an empire. One didn’t buy an empire, he explained. One took it. But how? “Simplest thing on earth,” said Garrett. “Ya kill the king.” (Gulp.)

During a meeting with Rainwater, Angela derided the chief and scoffed at his hopefulness that one day their tribe would again call Yellowstone home. “Not with you [in charge], we won’t,” she said. He was trying to go about things in a moral way, and there was no room for morality in a war. “Winners are never judged by how” they win, she pointed out. “They save that for the losers.” (She’s growing on me, that Angela.) When Rip returned home after his long, long night, Beth joked, “Who’d ya kill?” only to realize that, oh, he had killed someone. When he wouldn’t tell her the names of the deceased — maybe he didn’t know Wade’s son’s name, either — she decided that she didn’t care. A Nietzschean to the core, she believed in loving with your whole soul and killing anything that wants to destroy what you love. Now, “if you’ll excuse me,” she said, “I gotta kill someone, too.”

‘THAT TRAIN ONLY RUNS IN ONE DIRECTION’ | Later, Rip reported to John that he’d gotten back that “thing” that he wanted retrieved from Wade. Rip also reported that the dead man and his son had been working for a guy named Roarke. Name didn’t mean anything to John — not yet, anyway. But the day was young. Crossing paths with Kayce, John expressed his delight that his plan for his son was working out so well. And again, the day was young! En route to the rodeo, Mia pushed and pushed Jimmy to explain why he’d let himself be branded like he was John’s cattle. Laramie noted that Walker had been branded, too, but he was so fine, “he could have his a–hole on his chest, and I wouldn’t care.” (Deep thoughts from Laramie could develop into one of my favorite bits of this show.) At Jamie’s office, Roarke, Willa and Team Market Equities gathered with Rainwater, Mo and Angela, the governor, and John and Beth to decide the fate of Yellowstone. It did not go as planned — at least not as Roarke and Willa planned.

No sooner had Roarke begun making his pitch to Lynelle than everyone received a breaking-news text: Willa had been accused of workplace harassment by a Jane Doe. “Problem, Willa?” asked Beth. “Take that, you f–king bitch.” Excusing herself, Willa said that Roarke could speak on her behalf. Roarke? Oooh, said John, a lightbulb going off over his head. Anyway, after Roarke made his presentation, Jamie usurped Beth’s power of attorney, owing to the fact that she’d filed her paperwork in Utah, not Montana, and approved the Yellowstone sale to Market Equities so that the Land Commission didn’t condemn the property and bankrupt the Duttons. He didn’t have a choice, he argued. “There is no choice anymore, John,” added Lynelle. “There are only options.” Thankfully, Rainwater had a plan — to have Angela file a class-action lawsuit to block the development due to the impact that it would have on the local wildlife. “We stopped wolf hunting for a decade,” she said, smirking at Roarke. “What do you think we’re gonna do to an airport?”

Yellowstone Recap Season 3 Episode 10 Finale John shot‘THAT LAND IS MINE’ | Before Rainwater left, he asked John to join his lawsuit — it would serve both their purposes and wouldn’t cost the rancher a dime. As the office began to clear out, John took a swipe at Roarke about his “lost pet” (Wade). “You think you’re winning this game, you don’t even know the goddamn rules,” sneered the Dutton patriarch. “But don’t worry, I’ma teach ‘em to ya.” On his way out the door, he and Beth gave Jamie a chance to speak now or forever hold his peace; having turned a corner and started to buy into Garrett as his real family, he chose the latter. “From now on,” he told Lynelle, “what I do is for me.” Yikes — methinks Bad Jamie just got worse. At the rodeo, Mia overheard enough of a conversation to glean that Jimmy was done riding bucking broncos. Was he really just John Dutton’s steer now? “When I saw you rodeo, I saw a really happy man — and I fell in love with him,” she said. “Be that man, and you can have me. But be this one, and I’ll see ya later.” Good Lord, that girl got Jimmy to agree to once again risk his neck (and every other part of him!). Next thing we knew, he was back in the saddle at the ranch and getting thrown so hard, it left him unconscious.

En route back to his office, Rainwater insisted to Angela that he could and would beat the Duttons and everyone else by playing by their rules. That was folly, she reiterated. They make rules for the slaves and rules for the masters — and he was choosing the slaves’ rules. Maybe Mo would take matters into his own hands, she suggested, eyeing the driver. Maybe he’d kill John, “make war for our people, and then… we go home.” (How many targets can John have painted on him? Sheesh.) Meanwhile, at Kayce’s office the chairmen of the Stock Growers Assoc. came by to say that they wanted to make him Montana’s next governor. He laughed, but they were as serious as a heart attack. Better get used to wearing a suit, buddy! Elsewhere, Rip had his mother’s body exhumed for the sweetest reason that I reckon one could dig up a corpse — he wanted to take the ring off her finger to give it to Beth. Back at Roarke’s, a livid Willa noted that this s–t didn’t feel like a land deal in Montana, “it feels like an oil deal in Yemen — and from now on, that’s how we treat it.” Could Roarke do that? As Josh Holloway foreshadowed for TVLine at the start of the season, you bet he could.

Yellowstone Recap Season 3 Episode 10 Finale John shot‘THE WHOLE F–KING VALLEY’S DYING TODAY’ | As the episode and the season drew to a close, Beth and her secretary were cleaning out her office (and really all of Schwartz & Mayer) when the assistant began opening a box within another box that was addressed to her boss. Quicker than Beth could get out the word “Don’t,” ka-freakin’-boom! At the same time, gunmen burst into Kayce’s office and opened fire! And while John was helping a mother and her kid change her flat on the side of the road, a van pulled up. “You’re John Dutton, aren’t you?” asked the driver. “Yep,” he replied. With that, the back of the van flew open, and another guy filled not only John full of lead but the mom, too. (Probably would’ve offed the kid as well if he hadn’t wandered off to find the lost lug nuts.) Panicking when he couldn’t reach anyone on the phone, Rip rang Jamie, who at that point was so far gone, he said, “I don’t think you should call me anymore.” Oh, Jamie. At Yellowstone, Rip spotted a dying horse being pecked at by crows and, sadly, put it down. “I’d rather kill a thousand men,” he sighed, “than shoot another horse.” Finally, we got a last glimpse of John, significantly worse for wear but at least alive — perhaps owing to the fact that his hated cell phone had taken a bullet! “Doesn’t that f—kin’ figure,” he grumbled. Man, had he ever been right when he’d told Kayce that he wasn’t gonna have a good day!

So, what did you think of the Season 3 finale? Grade it in the poll below, then hit the comments. We know John’s alive, at least for now. But what about Kayce… and Beth?
