“I won’t be able to do any lifts, tricks or solo skating on the show due to my injury. I’m going to bail out gracefully with my DOI bling sling.

“@themattevers has been the most incredible support and skate partner (a true friend) and I’m so grateful for his expertise in teaching me (ice virgin) the basics.

“I just wish I was well enough to learn all the fabulous tricks my injury won’t allow me to do.

“Chair dancing on Ice with a massive pie won’t get us points on the leaderboard.

“I’m actually proud of what I’ve achieved (not much, lowest scores so far).

“If you don’t mind I’m going to give myself a couple of points for bravery for doing cartwheels on Ice at 46 with broken bones.”

Denise Welch clashes with Eamonn Holmes in explosive COVID row: ‘How am I causing panic?’ https://briefnews.eu/denise-welch-clashes-with-eamonn-holmes-in-explosive-covid-row-how-am-i-causing-panic/ https://briefnews.eu/denise-welch-clashes-with-eamonn-holmes-in-explosive-covid-row-how-am-i-causing-panic/#respond Fri, 04 Sep 2020 13:59:39 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/denise-welch-clashes-with-eamonn-holmes-in-explosive-covid-row-how-am-i-causing-panic/

This Morning saw Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford back for the final instalment of the week. As ever, the presenters were joined by a range of guests to discuss various topics. One of this morning’s talking points remained COVID-19 after some famous faces, including Denise Welch, have come out and given their thoughts on the Government’s strategy towards the disease. However, when host Eamonn accused Denise of causing “panic” she continued to stay firm on her stance in a heated discussion.

Today’s show saw Denise and This Morning’s resident doctor, Dr Sara Kayat speak out on the pandemic.

With the Government now urging Britons to go back to work as life slowly begins to resume to normal, many members of the public have differing feelings on what should happen next.

And when Eamonn led a debate between Denise and Dr Sara, the former slammed the media and Government’s response, claiming they were not explaining how things had improved.

Denise claimed: “At the moment, people aren’t going in (to hospital), aren’t putting their sick relatives into hospital – it’s criminal.”

Taking aim at the news coverage once more, the Denise continued: “What we have is, ‘Bong, fears rise as spikes reach 1,075 positive tests per day’.

“So if you’re going to frighten us with how many were dying every day, please enlighten us and tell us how things have improved, when no one is dying.”

Touching on the issue of mental health, she said: “As a mental health person, if people want to say, ‘She’s on about that again,’ I don’t care because of the people it does help – I will do anything to help balance the fear-mongering.

“The other day, it said, ‘Universities could become the care homes of the second wave,’ how dare they?”

Those watching at home flocked to Twitter to comment on the debate, with many coming out in support of what the star had shared.

One said: “Thank you, you are totally right, I work in a care home and we’ve said we will lose more residents from mental health due to lockdown than COVID! Plus I’m a high-risk pregnancy and have to go to appointments on my own, so no support at appointments.”

Another shared: “Denise you are smashing it on @thismorning thank you so much.”

“I couldn’t agree with what you are saying more.  So much scaremongering it’s terrible!” commented a third.

However, not everyone agreed with Denise, with one saying: “Please calm down. I know you’re passionate but I can’t listen to shouty people! It’s stressing me out. Calm comes across better.”

Another added: “Why on earth is This Morning giving a platform to tinfoil hat-wearing conspiracy theorist Denise Welch? Who next? David Ike?”

EastEnders spoilers: Carmel Kazemi to expose Kush's cheating secret to Denise Fox? https://briefnews.eu/eastenders-spoilers-carmel-kazemi-to-expose-kushs-cheating-secret-to-denise-fox/ https://briefnews.eu/eastenders-spoilers-carmel-kazemi-to-expose-kushs-cheating-secret-to-denise-fox/#respond Fri, 24 Aug 2018 10:04:06 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/eastenders-spoilers-carmel-kazemi-to-expose-kushs-cheating-secret-to-denise-fox/

Viewers have seen Kush (played by Davood Ghadami) struggling lately as he’s become very withdrawn and taken to drinking heavily on BBC soap EastEnders.

The problem reached new heights in Tuesday’s episode at Ian Beale’s (Adam Woodyatt) restaurant opening where it looked as though he was about to sleep with Talia, a new worker at the eatery.

Last night’s instalment confirmed the pair had slept together as Kush woke up in bed next to the newcomer having cheated on girlfriend Denise (Diane Parish).

Carmel Kazemi (Bonnie Langford) saw the waitress slipping out of Kush’s room and suspected her son had been up to no good.

Kush tried to play it off like the girl had been a stranger in distress who needed somewhere to sleep for the night, but it was clear Carmel didn’t buy the lie.

In his intoxicated state the night before, Kush had also revealed Kim Fox’s (Tameka Empson) pregnancy secret and so he set about apologising to her in yesterday’s episode.

After that, he sought advice from Martin Fowler (James Bye) about his infidelity and what he should do now.

Kush told his friend he wanted to come clean to Denise, but Martin subtly urged him against it.

Knowing what it’s like to be cheated on, Martin wasn’t so sure that it would be a wise move to tell Denise.

But it was clear the guilt was overwhelming Kush as he went to spill the secret to Denise, however he was stopped when he saw Carmel.

It’s clear Carmel is concerned for her son’s wellbeing, but could she tell Denise the truth as tensions mount in tonight’s episode?

Meanwhile, plenty of viewers aren’t happy with what Kush has done to Denise.

“Noooo Kush, How could you cheat on Denise,” one fan lamented on Twitter.

A second added.“Can’t believe kush cheated on Denise #eastenders.”

“Oh Kush what have you done? #Eastenders,” a third questioned.

However, his unusual behaviour has come about as a result of Shakil Kazemi’s (Shaheen Jafargholi) death.

Kush didn’t break down so much at first as he was there to support their mother after their tragic loss.

But now the roles have reversed for the pair as Kush is the one struggling to cope.

Kush star Davood revealed to Express.co.uk earlier this year that this change would be coming.

He said: “I think his role has been trying to support his mum and I think that’s something he wants to do naturally but it’s also something for him, to find his leafletting equivalent that he can keep his eye on, that can make him focus away from the tragedy of what’s happened.

“But like I say, there’s no way someone could go through this and not have it touch pretty much everything they do.

“Whether you think about it every minute, every hour, you’re thinking about it everyday. Kush has been through a lot of tragedy in his life anyway and it just seems to get closer and closer to home for him.

“Again, it’s not something that he’s going to be able to lock away.”

EastEnders continues tonight at 8pm on BBC One.

Denise Welch weight loss: Loose Woman star shows off TWO stone bikini body transformation https://briefnews.eu/denise-welch-weight-loss-loose-woman-star-shows-off-two-stone-bikini-body-transformation/ https://briefnews.eu/denise-welch-weight-loss-loose-woman-star-shows-off-two-stone-bikini-body-transformation/#respond Wed, 08 Aug 2018 10:44:35 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/denise-welch-weight-loss-loose-woman-star-shows-off-two-stone-bikini-body-transformation/

Denise Welch, 60, showcased her incredible weight loss today on Lorraine.

The Loose Women panellist, formerly known for her roles on Coronation Street and Waterloo Road, has showed off her new body in recent bikini pictures on her Instagram account.

In June this year, Denise revealed on her Instagram that she had lost a total of two stone.

But how did she do it? Denise, an ambassador for LighterLife, has opened up about her weight loss journey.

Revealing more about her weight loss, Denise said on Lorraine: “I’m a size 12 and at 60 I feel better than I ever have before.”

Writing on Instagram earlier this year, she confessed to having swapped an “alcohol addiction with a food addiction”.

Posting a before and after image, she wrote: “5 yrs ago, after giving up alcohol, I turned to food and gained over 2 stone. (sic)

“I wanted to lose weight and keep it off as I was in danger of replacing an alcohol addiction with a food addiction.”

Her weight loss was aided by cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) which helped her to beat her sugar cravings after giving up alcohol.

“Until I gave up drinking, I never really had a weight problem. I’d certainly never had a sweet tooth,” she told Broccoli & Brains magazine.

“I could take or leave a dessert. But once I stopped drinking, I started getting massive sugar cravings and the weight started going on.”

She signed up for a weight loss group which involved CBT sessions.

“I initially found myself reluctant to go to the group,” she said.

“While in my job I am generally a bit of a show-off, I am quite shy in that private sort of situation.”

Another example of a Loose Women star losing weight is Lisa Riley’s weight loss.

Lisa Riley, 41, was once a size 28 but has now slimmed down after losing 12 stone in just 18 months.

Speaking on Lorraine recently, she revealed the method she used to shed weight. And it wasn’t a quick fix that saw her shed the pounds, but instead “changing her lifestyle”.

She also shared the one exercise she owes her new body to – zumba.

She also revealed her daily diet, having hot water and lemon with porridge and honey for breakfast, and butternut squash with coriander soup and oatcakes for lunch.

For dinner she has garlic and chilli cod with roasted spinach and cauliflower, a far cry from her original diet, which saw the British star eating four slices of white toast, Coco Pops with full-fat milk and coffee with sugar.

As well as overhauling her diet, Lisa has had excess skin removed. The actress underwent a tummy tuck, surgery to remove the loose skin for her thighs, a boob lift and the removal of her “bingo wings”.

Weight loss: Denise Welch reveals the diet plan tricks that helped her shed three stone https://briefnews.eu/weight-loss-denise-welch-reveals-the-diet-plan-tricks-that-helped-her-shed-three-stone/ https://briefnews.eu/weight-loss-denise-welch-reveals-the-diet-plan-tricks-that-helped-her-shed-three-stone/#respond Fri, 23 Feb 2018 06:02:48 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/weight-loss-denise-welch-reveals-the-diet-plan-tricks-that-helped-her-shed-three-stone/

Weight loss for many is a frustrating affair, and many yo-yo from one end of the scales to the other, struggling to stick to their ideal weight.

Denise Welch, 59, has also struggled to keep her weight low in the past.

The British actress, born in Tynemouth, has starred in the likes of Coronation Street, Holby City, Waterloo Road and Benidorm.

The Loose Women presenter revealed to Express.co.uk her weight loss tips, and how a diet paired with counselling helped her to change her eating habits for good.

“I lost just over two stone in four and a half years,” Denise explained.

He weight loss journey began when she gave up drinking six years ago. Denise said: “I gave up drinking six years ago and as a result of that I started to eat in the same way I was drinking.

“I realised that I had the wrong relationship with food and giving up drinking highlighted that and I over ate, and would eat secretly.”

However, the star turned to a diet with cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) to get her on track long term.

“I knew how to lose weight but what people don’t know how to do it keep it off.”

Denise turned to Lighter Life for help. She said: “I think when you hear terms like cognitive behavioural therapy people thinks it’s an intense therapy, and it’s not, it’s a bunch of women who are all on the same journey, which teaches you little tools to address you thinking.”

For Denise, the therapy has been key in helping her to address her issues with food, however, she has various other weight loss tips that any dieter can adopt, including one meal she relies on to keep her healthy and full.

Denise said: “I find if I don’t have vegetables in my diet my mood suffers so Lincoln and I will make a big vegetable stew, no recipe just everything from the vegetable world in there and a little bit of curry paste, and have that for a couple days.”

However, Denise also has a sweet tooth. The actress makes one food swap to stop her from reaching for the chocolate.

She said: “I make sure I have plenty of yoghurt and fruit in. I’ve taken a lot of dairy out my diet so instead I’ll have natural yoghurt on my fruit.”

“My go to for breakfast would be lots of fruit with a few raisons because I like that with yoghurt.”

For lunch the actress will enjoy avocado, a poached egg and granary bread or a big halloumi salad.

For dinner Denise likes to indulge in pasta, but adds: “I try not have big portion.”

She also follows the 5-2 diet, using Lighter Life projects to help her stay on track.

What is the best weight loss diet?

Weight loss diets are big business, and most Britons will have followed one at some time in their life.

Low carb diets have been shown to be effective in helping with weight loss, but they mainly fall into two categories – high fat and high protein.

So, which is the best for helping with weight loss?

EastEnders spoilers: Kim and Denise Fox FINALLY discover truth about adoption bombshell https://briefnews.eu/eastenders-spoilers-kim-and-denise-fox-finally-discover-truth-about-adoption-bombshell/ https://briefnews.eu/eastenders-spoilers-kim-and-denise-fox-finally-discover-truth-about-adoption-bombshell/#respond Tue, 20 Feb 2018 20:12:30 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/eastenders-spoilers-kim-and-denise-fox-finally-discover-truth-about-adoption-bombshell/

Sisters Denise (played by Diane Parish) and Kim (Tameka Empson) have always been close on EastEnders, ever since the latter arrived on the BBC soap nine years ago.

Yet a recent confession from their mother Emerald Fox (Doña Croll) knocked Denise and Kim for six as she told them that Denise wasn’t actually her biological daughter.

Stunned, the two women listened as Emerald revealed that Denise was actually found by her uncle when the character was a newborn baby.

Without hearing exactly what took place between Emerald and her uncle, Denise and Kim learned that the former raised the tot as her own.

Leaving her daughters reeling, Emerald didn’t stick around to hear their reaction and scarpered from Walford before they could even process the news.

Struggling to get to grips with the possibility that Denise isn’t her biological sister, Kim eventually manages to persuade her to take a DNA test and find out the truth once and for all in upcoming scenes on the soap.

Kim then discovers that Denise is shying away from opening the results letter when she finds toddler Pearl playing with the envelope stuck down the side of a handbag.

Realising that Denise may not react well to the answer, Kim comes up with another plan in an attempt to soothe her sister when the news is finally revealed.

But it backfires, and Denise is left shocked and confused.

It turns out that Kim got a card for both outcomes so she could prepare to support Denise whatever the answer may be, but the latter ends up coming across both.

Yet, in a heartwarming moment for the pair, Denise reveals that the mix-up doesn’t matter anyway because she’s already made up her mind on how she feels.

She tells Kim that the result is irrelevant and they will always be sisters, whatever happens.

In true soap fashion though, it probably won’t be long before Kim can’t resist taking a sneak peek at the hospital letter – and how will Denise react then?

Meanwhile, Kim has her own problems to face with her husband Vincent (Richard Blackwood) following his run-ins with local villain Aidan Maguire (Patrick Bergin).

After the botched New Year’s Day heist, Vincent’s money problems have become worse and worse, until he finally has to share the reality of the situation with his concerned wife.

EastEnders continues tonight at 7.30pm on BBC One.

James Bulger – was he sexually abused? Boy's mum Denise Fergus DEMANDS answers https://briefnews.eu/james-bulger-was-he-sexually-abused-boys-mum-denise-fergus-demands-answers/ https://briefnews.eu/james-bulger-was-he-sexually-abused-boys-mum-denise-fergus-demands-answers/#respond Tue, 20 Feb 2018 14:14:38 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/james-bulger-was-he-sexually-abused-boys-mum-denise-fergus-demands-answers/

Speaking to and on , Denise said she had a number of questions were never answered following James’ death.

She explained she had a list of 14 questions and now she is finally being given the information she had wanted to know for so long.

“I couldn’t move on because I had so many questions I wasn’t getting answers to,” Denise explained. “I strongly believe he never got justice.”

Phillip asked: “Did you really want to know what had happened?”

“He’s my son and I thought just kick me while I’m down because I couldn’t get any lower,” Denise commented.

“Over time I didn’t want to know but with all of this coming up now, the questions are coming back.”

She added: “There are so many questions.

“What I wanted to know was, was James sexually abused? I was protected so much. I wasn’t given the answers but now I’m learning so much.”

Phillip continued: “We won’t go into the details here about what happened but it was horrific.

“Knowing what you know now about how he was sexually abused before he was killed, how does that…”

“I am more determined to get justice for him,” Denise replied.

“I’m determined to carry on, I wanted them to spend time in adult prison and I want all my questions answered. I want the truth, I don’t want to be lied to.”

Denise went on to note that following James’ death she became two people are she cared for her other three sons.

“When I had the other three boys, I became like two people,” she detailed.

“I was James’ mum and campaigning but when I went home to the boys I became their mum and it didn’t get spoken about.”

Sean Sexton, Denise’s solicitor, told the Liverpool Echo both he and Mrs Fergus believe two-year-old James was sexually assaulted prior to his brutal death on train tracks in Walton.

Mr Sexton said: “Denise knows that there is evidence…indicating that Thompson and Venables sexually assaulted James prior to killing him.

“She does not understand why that evidence was not presented to the Parole Board when Venables was originally released in 2001 or again at the 2013 Parole Board hearing.

“She believes there was a rush to release Venables and Thompson before they entered youth custody and the authorities turned a blind eye to any evidence that neither of him posed a risk to children.”

This Morning airs weekdays on at 10.30am.

James Bulger’s mother Denise Fergus tells of heart-wrenching meeting with his ghost https://briefnews.eu/james-bulgers-mother-denise-fergus-tells-of-heart-wrenching-meeting-with-his-ghost/ https://briefnews.eu/james-bulgers-mother-denise-fergus-tells-of-heart-wrenching-meeting-with-his-ghost/#respond Tue, 23 Jan 2018 15:47:48 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/james-bulgers-mother-denise-fergus-tells-of-heart-wrenching-meeting-with-his-ghost/

Denise was on the ITV programme to discuss her new book I Let Him Go, a memoir about her son and the events after his death.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of James’ murder, in an event which rocked the nation.

The toddler was tragically killed in 1993 by ten-year-olds Robert Thompson and John Venables after they took him from a shopping centre when he was with his mother.

Denise went on to have three more sons after James’ death: Michael, Thomas, and Leon.

She revealed finding out she was pregnant with Michael had “saved her” after the loss.

Denise told the Loose Women panel: ”When James was taken I just wanted to be with him, but then I found out I was having Michael and if I wasn’t having him I don’t think I’d be here.

“I was a mum and I didn’t have any kids, but when Michael was born I was a mum again.”

She continued: “Sometimes I would feel a tug on my nightdress when I was cleaning and would turn to see what Michael wanted and he wasn’t there.”

When Denise found out it wasn’t Michael, she said she believed it was James trying to contact her.

Denise went on to recall the heartbreaking moment James was snatched when she turned her back for just a moment.

“As I turned to get my bag and my purse to pay, I looked down and he’d gone,” she said.

However, she did say that the book had been a positive experience for her, bringing back happy memories of James.

She told them: “The memories that are poured into the book are all mine now to keep.”

Denise said she had stopped “torturing” herself for the abduction, telling the Loose Women that it would not have been fair to her other children.

“I wanted them to have normal lives, I wanted them to grow up.”

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.

The tear-jerking moment comes as Kim Fox-Hubbard (played by Tameka Empson) finally tells sister Denise (Diane Parish) about her miscarriage.

Kim has been lying to her friends and family as she couldn’t bring herself to tell them her sad news.

Until now, it was only her husband Vincent (Richard Blackwood) and Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) who knew about it.

It was nurse Sonia who comforted her in hospital when she realised she had lost her baby.

She believed if she got pregnant again right away, she wouldn’t have to let anyone know about the miscarriage.

However, Kim will tell her sister what has really been going on in scenes to be aired next week after Denise notices something is wrong.

After confronting Kim, Denise is then able to give her some much-needed support.

Next week is also bound to see more trouble for the Hubbard household as Vincent will play his part in Aidan Maguire’s criminal job.

Aidan (Patrick Bergin) has rounded up Vincent, along with Mick Carter (Danny Dyer), Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) and Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) to commit a mystery money-making crime.

Will Vincent be able to complete the job unscathed? Or is Kim set for more tragedy?

Denise, 43, was first up to take on the Wibbly Wobbly Word game which consisted of lying down on a vibrating platform and describe a word to their teammates to guess.

Wearing a Marie Antoinette inspired outfit for the episode, the presenter was concerned about flashing her underwear.

John Barrowman came to her rescue and held her skirt in place as Denise kicked her legs out to avoid a major mishap.

However, it wasn’t just her knickers she needed to worry about as her assets almost popped out of the low-cut costume.

Holding on to her bust, the mother-of-one shouted: “My t**s are going to come out!”

John, 50, was up next to take on the entertaining challenge but ended up red-faced after a hilarious gaffe.

As soon as he got down to lay on the platform, he lifted his legs in the air and accidentally ripped his trousers to reveal his black underwear.

The Celebrity Juice guests burst out laughing while actor John attempted to keep his modesty intact and held on to his pants.

Laughing, he said: “My b******s are going to fall out!”

Those watching the special episode were in hysterics as one person commented on Twitter: “Not laughed so much in years! Best episode yet #CelebJuice #buybarrowmannewtrousers.”

“Best Christmas special ever, I can’t wait for next series #CelebJuice @lemontwittor @CelebJuice,” praised another.

A third couldn’t stop laughing at the pair as they commented: “@denise_vanouten and @JohnBarrowman are hilarious on this tonight #CelebJuice.”
