Rep. Liz Cheney on Saturday said that she would not vote for Harriet Hageman, the water rights attorney who is the new Republican nominee for Wyoming's at-large congressional district.
Hageman, who was endorsed by former President Donald Trump and a plethora of House Republicans, defeated Cheney in the August GOP primary 66%-29%.
During a conversation at The Texas Tribune Festival, Cheney said that Hageman continued to spread debunked theories about the 2020 presidential election and in her opinion should not serve in public office.
"Harriet is a member of the Wyoming State Bar and she's sworn an oath to the Constitution as a member of the Wyoming State Bar," Cheney told the media organization's chief executive Evan Smith. "And she continues to make the assertion that somehow the 2020 election was stolen and has said many of the same things that have resulted in people like Rudy Giuliani having their license suspended and I know that she knows better."
"There are many people around this country who are making claims they know not to be true, and I don't think anybody should vote for any of them," she added.
Cheney also pointed out Kari Lake, the Republican gubernatorial nominee in Arizona, as a candidate who has continued to question the results of the 2020 election.
Lake is currently locked in a tight contest with Democratic Secretary of State Katie Hobbs.
The congresswoman said that she would work to ensure sure that candidates like Lake are unsuccessful at the ballot box, even if it means campaigning with Democrats.
"In this election, you have to vote for the person who actually believes in democracy," she said. "And that is just crucial, because if we elect election deniers, if we elect people who said that they're not going to certify results or who are going to try to steal elections, then we really are putting the Republic at risk."
Lake during an appearance on the Fox News program "Sunday Morning Futures" responded to Cheney's remarks, stating that the Wyoming lawmaker's comments were a "gift."
"That might be the biggest, best gift I have ever received," Lake told host Maria Bartiromo.
"Liz Cheney probably should change her voter registration. Turns out she really is a Democrat after all," she added.

Piers Morgan, 55, is continuing to enjoy his two-week break from Good Morning Britain at the moment, with some of his colleagues stepping in to replace him. Actor Adil Ray, 46, and Charlotte Hawkins, 45, presented the ITV show on Tuesday and spoke with Lord Jeffrey Archer, 80, about a number of topics, including the Government’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic. However, with the Conservative politician releasing a book at the same time as the Life Stories star, he took down the journalist, joking they weren’t in the same division.
With Hawkins holding up a copy of the guest’s book, Hidden In Plain Sight, the presenter asked: “Are you worried about the competition?”
Lord Archer replied: “Oh good heavens no. I mean he’s top of division three, fighting to get into division two.
“I’m just sorry he isn’t there this morning to fight back,” the politician joked, adding: “I would have loved a punch up with Piers.”
However, the novelist did wish his opponent “luck,” telling the hosts: “He’s very good on television and he’s very good on his cricket.
“No, forget about the book, Piers. I shall not be searching for it on the best-sellers list,” the former MP said.

Hawkins said to Lord Archer: “I suspect he’s not going to let you forget that comment,” before thanking the guest for joining them.
Taking to Twitter, those watching at home commented on the former MP’s takedown of the outspoken journalist.
One viewer wrote: “What a nice conversation with these 3 this morning. Certainly a change from the shouting and arguing that usually takes place. Great to see Lord Archer looking so well.”
“GMB is turning into the book club, not in a good way,” a second added, with a third remarking: “Fighting talk from Archer @piersmorgan.”
Susanna Reid, 49, and her co-star will return to screen next week after taking a short break from the show over the half-term break.
Viewers haven’t seen the pair at the news desk since the middle of October, having only returned to the show following a summer break in September.
Informing those watching at home of his absence, Piers said at the time: “We’ve got half term off, really exciting, I’m going to move from the sofa downstairs to upstairs for my holiday.
“You get a two-week circuit breaker from us,” his co-host jibed, before explaining they would be back to cover the American Presidential Election.
The presenters will be on-screen for all week when they return as they usually only host for three or four days.
“The good news is because I know you’ll be missing us, we’ll be back for the US election week, and we’ll be there all week, all five days,” Piers said.
The Life Stories star added: “Last time we were on the roof in the middle of the two hotels, parted by less than a mile, Hillary Clinton in one and Donald Trump in the other.
“The reason we’re coming in all week is, I don’t think it’ll be over on the first night, I think we’re going to be in for a bit of a run.”
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
Kelvin Fletcher, 35, is preparing to dazzle Strictly Come Dancing fans this weekend with his third performance of the competition with professional dancer, Oti Mabuse, 29. The pair will take to the dance floor with a Charleston routine as the BBC dance show transports viewers to the big screen for movie week. With 14 celebrities remaining to fight it out for victory, it sees like bad news could be on the horizon for the former Emmerdale star as his place in dancing on the live show schedule could play as an advantage for another.
Kelvin was a late addition to this year’s line-up, only joining the show two weeks before the celebrities were set to dance for the first time with his introduction given in the first live show.
The former soap star didn’t disappoint as the performed a sensational Samba with Oti, with the judging panel awarding the couple a score of 34 out of 40.
Following the first show, bookmakers received record-breaking amounts of bets placed on the actor to win the competition and take the title from 2018 champion, Stacey Dooley, 32.
Last weekend, the pair dropped by 4 marks with their Viennese Waltz and after the scores were combined with the week one ahead of the first elimination, the couple placed third overall.

This was because CBBC presenter Karim Zeroual and his partner Amy Dowden, 28, topped the leaderboard with an overall score of 63.
The young pair have risen as one of the favourites also in contention in for the Strictly crown, and a trend has been spotted regarding the contestant’s dance in the live show schedule which could work in their advantage.
Professor Leighton Vaughan Williams of Economics and Finance at Nottingham Business School contributed to research conducted on Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing With The Stars over a 15 year period which analysed whether there was an effect on the order in which contestants danced during the live show.
Analysis was conducted to highlight which place in the schedule would be the best to perform to achieve optimum results from the judges and the viewing public.
Kelvin has only performed once in the second half of the live show, therefore, could Karim have an upper hand on the end goal?
Karim came up top of the leaderboard air scoring both a 31 and a 32 for his first two performances, just giving him the headspace from fan favourite Kelvin.
In an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, Professor Vaughan Williams explained the details of the research further, stating: “There is a clear advantage, we found, in performing later in the show, and especially performing last, and this advantage applies to the judges’ scores as well as in the public vote.
“The least successful place perform, we found, was second.”
Whether contestants were placed in such an order because they were the favourite to win, the researcher said: “We applied sophisticated statistical tests to determine whether better performers were being favoured with later slots, and we were able to eliminate this theory.”
“The only artificial bias we found was that the first performance slot tended to be occupied by one of the better performers,” Professor Vaughan Williams added.
Kelvin has not yet performed in last place of opened the show, therefore it is clear this conclusion is not subject to the production having any part to play in the results.
Have the first two live shows determined who could have already emerged as the champion?
Strictly Come Dancing 2019 continues Saturday at 7.10pm on BBC One.
Fans of The Walking Dead will know that next season means war for the Survivors and the Whisperers. However, after rewatching the season nine finale, some fans think their is more to the mysterious Radio call than meets the eye.
Fans of the show are desperate to find out who made the Radio call in the final moments of season since, speculating it could be a hint at an important shift in the series.
With the tenth outing just weeks away, viewers are beginning to suspect the call could be someone from the Commonwealth.
In the comics, the Commonwealth is introduced under similar circumstances, as Eugene (played by Josh McDermitt) gets a call from an unknown woman.
The comic books saw Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) lead them to the huge community, on a scale the Survivors had never seen.

Could the Whisperers be defeated to make way for the Commonwealth?
However, in a conversation with TV line about the upcoming 10th season, showrunner Angela Kang remained tight-lipped about the Commonwealth storyline.
The showrunner began: “That is an important story from the comic and we like to service story from the comic.”
Moreover, she revealed there “will be answers” regarding the mystery person on the radio in the season nine finale.
That lead role is set to be played by Danai’s Black Panther co-star Lupita Nyong’o.
Speaking out on her new collaboration, Danai explained: “Through Americanah, Chimamanda brought the African female voice into mainstream consciousness in an unprecedented way.
“It is intellectually incisive, indicting, yet full of humour, and riddled with humanity.
“She makes unheard voices familiar, universal and yet palpably specific.”
With the star taking on a major role in creating the new show, Danai explained the importance of the new project.
Danai revealed: “I am honoured to bring her incredible novel to life on the screen.
“I’m thrilled to collaborate once again with Lupita, who brings her astounding ability as a performer and producer shepherding this project, along with HBO Max’s unbridled enthusiasm to bring this groundbreaking narrative to the TV audience.”

The Afghanistan war cannot be won militarily and peace will only be achieved through a political resolution with the Taliban, the newly-appointed American general in charge of US and NATO operations has conceded.
In his first interview since taking command of NATO’s Resolute Support mission in September, Gen. Austin Scott Miller provided NBC News with a surprisingly candid assessment of the seemingly never-ending conflict, which began with the US invasion of Afghanistan in October, 2001.
“This is not going to be won militarily. This is going to a political solution,” Miller said.
He mused that the Taliban is also tired of fighting and may be interested in starting to “work through the political piece” of the 17-year-old war.
But it’s not clear if the Taliban is open to negotiations. Last month, a top Taliban commander told RT, in a rare interview, that the group’s leaders had no desire to negotiate with the Americans.
Described for years as a stalemate, the conflict has been tipping in the Taliban’s favor in recent months. Even by US military estimates, the Afghan government controls or influences just over half of the country’s 407 districts – a record low since the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction, or SIGAR, began tracking district control in November 2015.
To make matters worse, casualties among Afghan government forces have skyrocketed in recent months. Afghan security forces suffered 1,000 fatalities in August and September, according to the Pentagon.

Miller’s desire for a political settlement was echoed earlier by the State Department, which said in August that the US was doing everything it could to facilitate peace talks between the Taliban and the Afghan government.
The new US commander has experienced the deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan first-hand. In October, Miller survived a Taliban attack in Kandahar, which left a prominent Afghan warlord and local intelligence chief dead.

Next year’s Marvel epic is shrouded in much secrecy, but that hasn’t stopped fans trying to work out what happens next.
Avengers Infinity War left the Marvel Cinematic Universe in utter despair as Thanos successfully murdered half the universe.
Avengers 4 set photos appear to suggest time travel will be involved.
And now THOS8Comics has posted its theory of the film’s plot on Facebook.
They write: “We know that there will be some time travelling in Avengers 4.
“Iron Man and Ant-Man go to the New York Battle to take the Mind Stone.
“Captain America goes back to WW2 to take the Space Stone.
“Rocket and Nebula go back to Xander in the time of Guardians of the Galaxy to take the Power Stone.
Fans have theorised that Ant-Man will time travel via the Quantum Realm to get out and then use it to visit past scenes from previous Marvel movies.
When Reed was asked specifically about Ant-Man time travelling in Avengers 4, he didn’t exactly say no.
The filmmaker said: “Based on the science that we’ve set up in the first movie and this one, I won’t rule out the possibility. Because, again, we are dealing with a time vortex. That could happen.”
Avengers 4 will be released in UK cinemas on April 26, 2019.
Thanos has six Infinity Stones. He just wiped out half of life across the universe.
Who can possibly stop him? Perhaps that question should be what can stop him.
Everyone has been concentrating on time travel theories and alternate dimensions but the filmmakers have already said that nobody has come close yet to guessing the full story.
A powerful new argument uses the following evidence from Infinity War to explain exactly what will bring down Thanos in the most devastating way.
Revisiting the movie it is clear how Thanos’ behaviour changes drastically.
At the start he is utterly relentless and also takes clear pleasure in his killing those in his way.
Ebony Maw telling Cull Obsidian to “let Thanos have his fun” when fighting the Hulk. The Mad Titan almost gloats as he tortures Thor physically and emotionally before killing Loki. He smiles when torturing Nebula.
Everything changes with the Soul Stone.
It isn’t just his sadness over sacrificing the only person he loved, Gamora. Mantis says he mourns for her, but his behaviour across the board has changed.
Red Skull said the Soul Stone comes with knowledge. Redditor user 8isak1 argues that the stone “gives the wielder insights into the emotions and motivations of those he comes into contact with.”
Red Skull immediately knows that Thanos isn’t crying because he can’t complete his mission, but because he loves Gamora.
After this scene, Thanos never shows any joy in killing again. He feels compassion for Tony Stark on Titan. He takes much longer than he should to defeat Captain America in Wakanda. Why?
THE ‘GAYEST’ MARVEL MOVIE REVEALED AND WINNING DIRECTOR TWEETS HIS CELEBRATION
He can feel their pain, their suffering, everything they have been through, everything they fear to lose.
Thanos struggles against Wanda, who must be giving out overpowering grief after killing Vision.
The theory adds: “He isn’t struggling because Wanda is powerful, since he has 5 goddamn infinity stones at this point. He’s struggling again because her grief is the same grief he feels when he has to kill Gamora. They both had to kill loved ones to complete their mission. He can’t bring himself to easily overpower her because he’s again reminded of Gamora.”
“After the snap, he looks around confused and dazed. I think he can actually feel the connection to half the souls in the universe being severed at once.”
Most theories think the Avengers will go back in time, collect the Stones and then face Thanos again in a rematch, possibly even in Wakanda.
This new theory is much more compelling, suggesting that Thanos will struggle with what he has done and the constant knowledge and awareness of all the lives he took.
He will face the overwhelming compulson to reverse The Snap but still retains his conviction that it was necessary. This theory argues Thanos himself will shatter the Gauntlet and separate the stones so that nobody can undo his work, destroying himself in the process.
The theory concludes: “Thanos’ arc is over, and instead of just being defeated, he has become the ultimate hero in his own arc and sacrifices his own life for what he believes to be universal salvation… This also ties into the fact that he said “I was the only one with the will to do what is necessary”. He always believed the culling of the population should be dispassionate, but it is literally impossible now that he has to bear the burden of all the sorrow in the universe.”
AVENGERS INFINITY WAR IS OUT ON APRIL 27, 2019
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi said on Friday that militants in the Sinai Peninsula would soon be defeated. He visited troops there days ahead of an election in which he is set to win a second term, Reuters reports. Polls will open on Monday when voters choose between Sisi and one little-known candidate who supports the former field marshal. Sisi has said he wanted more candidates to run for office. Last November, he ordered the armed forces to crush Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) after an attack on a mosque that killed more than 300 people. On Friday, Sisi chatted with pilots and troops during his visit to an air base in North Sinai.

MOSCOW (Reuters) – A Kremlin spokesman said on Wednesday he could not rule out that there were Russian civilians in Syria, but that they had no connection to the Russian armed forces.
Associates of Russian military contractors fighting alongside government forces in Syria have said there were large-scale casualties among the contractors when U.S.-led coalition forces clashed with pro-government forces in Syria’s Deir al-Zor province on Feb. 7.See the rest of the story at Business Insider
