Announced at BlizzCon 2019, Blizzard has slowly released details about Overwatch 2, including showing off concept art for new maps and letting players try out the game in beta.

Although we still don’t have all the concrete details, Blizzard has revealed a lot about Overwatch 2, with even more details coming from multiple showings in 2022. Until the next event gives us new details to work with, here’s everything we know about Overwatch 2.

Release date

A team of Overwatch characters advance up a street in Overwatch 2.

Overwatch 2 will launch in two parts: PvP and the new PvE experience later on. The PvP mode, which is by far the most popular mode, will launch for free as early access on October 4, 2022.

Platforms

Winston and other heroes looking a little confused.
Blizzard

Overwatch is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Blizzard confirmed in 2019 that Overwatch 2 is coming to every platform that currently supports the first game.

Given that Overwatch was released simultaneously on PS4, Xbox One, and PC in 2016, Overwatch 2 will likely launch on PC and consoles on the same day. We also learned that it will come to current-generation systems, the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, at the same time.

Trailer

During the 2021 BlizzCon event, we got a look at a new talent system that shows each character having their own abilities and skill trees to unlock. Odds are this will be specific to the PvE modes of the game, but it may show up in traditional multiplayer as well. We also saw that some characters are getting a facelift. Reinhardt doesn’t have a helmet anymore, Mercy got a haircut, and Lucio has glowing hair. So far, there are new character designs for Tracer, Mercy, Lucio, Reinhardt, Genji, Mei, and Winston, which you can find here. It sounds like all of the heroes are getting a graphical update, though.

To those versed in Overwatch lore, Sojourn is a natural inclusion for Overwatch 2. She’s been featured in multiple cinematics for the original game and has roots dating back to before Overwatch’s 2016 launch. Michael Chu, lead writer of Overwatch 2, told PlayStation Blog that “she will be extremely important to the events that take place in Overwatch 2.”

In place of arms, Sojourn has two guns. One is clearly shown as a fast-firing railgun in the gameplay trailer, while the other shoots an area-of-effect orb that not only slows opponents caught inside but also chips away at their health. She can also use jets on her legs to perform long slides and leaps, sliding under barriers and briefly hovering in the air. For her ultimate called Overclock, Sojourn can charge up her railgun and shoot a highly damaging piercing shot.

The release date reveal trailer came during the Xbox and Bethesda showcase in 2022 and shows a little montage of some existing heroes looking stoic before some action shots, including the new heroes Sojourn and Junk Queen. This is also where we learned that the game would now be free for the first time with the main new bit of information being the early access launch of October 4, 2022.

Multiplayer

Tracer, Mai, and other heroes striking a pose.

Going backward, all Overwatch heroes will be in Overwatch 2. In the announcement panel as well as in several interviews, Kaplan confirmed that they’re not cutting any characters from the roster, simply adding new ones. We’ll likely see some balance changes to account for the new heroes, but the roster is only going to grow from here on out.

Overwatch 2′s multiplayer PvP environment is simply an extension of the first game. When playing competitively, all players will operate in the same ecosystem, regardless of the game version they have. Blizzard will add new PvP content to Overwatch, creating a centralized system for all players.

We don’t know how this will look, however. You may need an external account, but that seems unlikely given Blizzard’s dedication to maintaining the current Overwatch ecosystem. We know that players with both versions of the game will play together and that it will feature crossplay across platforms.

This centralized approach also affects cosmetics. All of your cosmetics from the first game will transfer to Overwatch 2. Although Blizzard isn’t releasing any new heroes for the base game until the sequel launches, the cosmetic factory is still in full swing. Even now, you can rest assured that if you earn rewards from loot boxes, you’ll have them in Overwatch 2.

Overwatch has been at the center of the controversy surrounding loot boxes, though they may not be present in the second entry. In an interview with PCGamesN, Overwatch 2 game director Jeff Kaplan had this to say: “Well, we have made a lot of changes to loot boxes and how they work over the years, so we’re definitely open to change. Overwatch 2, in terms of business model, we’re exploring different options that move us away from loot boxes.” In the same interview, Kaplan mentioned a battle pass, though not as a direct replacement for loot boxes.

Overwatch 2 will bring a few new multiplayer game modes, but we only know about one: push. Essentially, two teams each have a robot pushing a barrier to the other side of the map. If you push the enemy team far enough back, the barrier will move forward, and vice versa. Push is a bit of a riff on Escort, except both teams have payloads they need to protect.

Frankly, it looks excellent. The focus on two central points opens up a lot of possibilities. Sure, you’re going to encounter a firefight around each barrier. However, you can use that to your advantage to hang back and attack from a different angle.

In a very controversial move, especially in the competitive scene, Blizzard has chosen to change one of the core dynamics of Overwatch in the sequel by reducing team size from six players to just five. The game’s director, Aaron Keller, claims this change was to help simplify the game that can have “a lot going on” and make it easier for players to know what’s happening and what they should be doing. During a livestream, Keller said, “Overwatch has changed over time. We’ve gone from having no hero limits at all in the game to having a hero limit. We ended up introducing a role lock over the course of the game. And we feel like this is the next step in the way that Overwatch ought to be played.”

Another competitive change noted in a Reddit AMA is that there will not be a Competitive MMR reset in Overwatch 2. MMR is your rank that helps the game pair you up against opponents close to your skill level. This means that your MMR from the first game will translate over to avoid massive imbalances between veterans from the old game and new players starting off, but it won’t go down unless you are inactive for multiple days.

Also from that AMA, we learned that you won’t have levels anymore, but instead, your progression will be exclusively tied to the seasonal Battle Pass.

Finally, a new Guild system is going to be introduced into Overwatch 2 as a new social platform. They didn’t detail exactly how these Guilds will work and expressed that they are still currently developing it, indicating that it may not be available at launch. This could potentially tie in with in-game tournaments, another social aspect the team is working on as well.

Along with the change from 6v6 to 5v5, teams will also be limited to only one tank character per team. On this, Keller said, “Tanks can be problematic. A [damage-per-second] hero is simple — they’re shooting. But a tank has abilities that can be noisy or when stacked with other tanks can cause problems for other teams to try to overcome and counter.”

Beyond those changes, we can expect some familiar heroes to be altered as well. So far, two character overhauls have been outlined: Doomfist and Orisa. Doomfist will now be a tank class, has more health, has less damage but higher ammo regen, and has a new Power Block and Seismic Slam, among other tweaks. Orisa has similar tweaks, but the biggest are her new Energy Javelin that shoots a stunning javelin at an enemy, the Javelin Spin that destroys incoming projectiles and pushes enemies back, and Terra Surge, which pulls enemies in, gives you the Forty effects, and charges up a surge of damage. She will no longer have Protective Barrier, Halt, or Supercharger.

Taking cues from the battle royale genre, Overwatch 2 is also confirmed to be adding a handy ping system. This will allow players who don’t have the option to or simply prefer not to engage in voice chat to still have a streamlined way to communicate with their teammates. This system will be contextual, meaning the options or directions you have will vary depending on what it is you’re looking at, such as an enemy or objective. Pinging an enemy will mark them, though if they use an ability to teleport or go invisible, the ping will turn into a question mark at their last known position. It is hoped that this system can help curb some of the toxicity the original had.

Finally, besides just the addition of new maps to keep things fresh, Overwatch 2‘s maps will also include a system called Environment States. This will give maps a new feel each time you play by implementing different weather effects and times of the day. That means one match may see you playing a certain map during the night, another during a snowstorm, or a desert map during a sandstorm.

The only things that Blizzard won’t add to Overwatch are the PvE modes. There are two types of PvE missions: Story and Hero.

Story mode

Story mode is, essentially, a co-op Overwatch 2 campaign. Players will join arms as various heroes from the Overwatch roster to take down the robotic Null Sector. Although we don’t know much about Story mode yet, we do know that you’ll be able to pick up items while you’re playing. Playing as Tracer, for example, you could pick up a barrier shield to protect you when bullets start flying. None of the items are exclusive to any particular hero, but they won’t carry over between missions. Each mission will also feature one of Blizzard’s excellent cinematics to lead you in and out of the mission.

Hero mode

Hero mode is a living PvE environment. The missions are designed for high replayability, allowing players to group up and take on the same swarm of enemies over and over again. These will be played across many maps, with unpredictable objectives and enemies thrown in each time you play. The main draw of this mode seems to be character progression. As you play Hero missions, you’ll earn experience for the hero you’re playing as, which unlocks modifiers for that hero’s abilities. Given how strict Blizzard is about competitive play, we suspect that these buffs are exclusive to PvE.

DLC

Genji slashes a robot in Overwatch 2.

It’s been confirmed that Overwatch 2 will receive DLC over time, just like the original game. However, it probably won’t fit the mold of traditional DLC released for single-player games. As a “live” game, Blizzard will likely continue monetizing Overwatch 2 with cosmetics and in-game items, not expansions or map packs. Instead, Overwatch 2 will get that content for free, like the first game. One small tidbit we do know is that two out of the three characters that will come during season 2 will be support-style characters.

Overwatch continues to receive updates from Blizzard with new content, even four years after release. Players can expect that Blizzard will continue releasing that content for Overwatch 2. However, there’s one new piece of information regarding how new heroes will be unlocked. Rather than be automatically unlocked for free as they were in the original game, new released heroes will now have to be earned via the free battle pass. The battle pass will have 20 tiers available for free, with 80 available to those who purchase it. However, this only applies to heroes released after Junker Queen and Sojourn, which will be available to everyone.

Pre-order

Mercy and Winston standing side by side

With the PvP mode being free to play and a free upgrade for anyone who owns the original game, there’s no need to pre-order it. If the PvE mode does still cost extra money to get and is made available for pre-order, we will update you on that as soon as we know more.

Some new official art for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

  • The next Legend of Zelda game, Tears of the Kingdom, will release on May 12, 2023.
  • Nintendo revealed the game's title and release date alongside a new trailer on September 13.
  • Tears of the Kingdom will be a Nintendo Switch exclusive, and is a direct sequel to 2017's Breath of the Wild.

It's been five years since the release of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and three years since Nintendo announced they were working on a sequel. Since 2019, news about the game has been sparse.

But during Tuesday's Nintendo Direct, we got more news about this new Legend of Zelda game than we ever have before.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will release in May 2023

Tuesday's Nintendo Direct ended with a short trailer for the next Zelda game. And that trailer ended with two reveals:

  • The new game is titled The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
  • It's planned for release on May 12, 2023.

These are both big pieces of news. Up until this point, the game had only been referred to as "The Sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild." And all we knew about the release date was that Nintendo had planned it for "Spring 2023."

No one is quite sure what the title refers to yet — in fact, we don't even know what definition of the word "Tear" it's using. Is it a tear you cry? Or like a tear in a piece of paper? Until someone at Nintendo actually says the name aloud, your guess is as good as ours.

It's also important to note that even though Nintendo has given us May 12, 2023 as an official release date, it's not necessarily set in stone. Plenty of Zelda games in the past have experienced delays, even after receiving a solid release date. This game was originally planned for 2022 after all. Nintendo seems determined to ship Tears of the Kingdom in 2023, but there are no guarantees.

It'll release exclusively on the Nintendo Switch — unless Nintendo suddenly reveals a new console, like the rumored Switch Pro. And it'll likely cost $ 59.99 on release like most Nintendo games.

Tears of the Kingdom is a sequel to 2017's Breath of the Wild

Games in the Legend of Zelda series are all connected by one long and confusing timeline. Despite this, it's rare for a Zelda game to ever receive a direct sequel that features the same characters in the same time period.

This is a big reason why fans are so hyped for Tears of the Kingdom: It's a direct sequel to 2017's The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Breath of the Wild received universal acclaim upon release, and is considered one of the best Zelda games — if not one of the best video games — of all time. Even five years after its release, it still routinely makes the list of the Switch's bestselling games each month.

Zelda Breath of the Wild
Breath of the Wild was a groundbreaking open world game.

All this is to say that Tears of the Kingdom has a lot of weight on its shoulders. The few trailers we've seen of the new game make it look like it'll keep Breath of the Wild's art style and general gameplay systems. But when it comes to the story, we don't have much to go on.

However the plot pans out, we're sure that Nintendo will reveal more in the coming months.

NASA confirms date for third launch attempt of next-gen rocket https://briefnews.eu/nasa-confirms-date-for-third-launch-attempt-of-next-gen-rocket/ https://briefnews.eu/nasa-confirms-date-for-third-launch-attempt-of-next-gen-rocket/#respond Tue, 13 Sep 2022 04:37:16 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/nasa-confirms-date-for-third-launch-attempt-of-next-gen-rocket/ Following two failed attempts to launch its new Space Launch System (SLS) rocket toward the moon, NASA on Monday confirmed a new schedule for a third effort to get the highly anticipated Artemis I mission underway.

The space agency said it is now aiming for Tuesday, September 27, for its next launch attempt. If that fails, it will try to send the rocket skyward on Sunday, October 2.

Last week, NASA said it was targeting Friday, September 23 for a launch attempt, but that date has now been scrapped.

Specifically, the September 27 launch attempt involves a 70-minute launch window that opens at 11:37 a.m. ET, with the Orion capsule arriving back on Earth about six weeks later on November 5. If that launch is unable to proceed, NASA will aim instead for October 2, with a 109-minute launch window opening at 2:52 p.m. ET and the spacecraft returning to Earth on November 11.

Prior to the attempted September 27 launch, NASA said it needs to perform a fueling test, an exercise it plans to conduct no earlier than Wednesday, September 21.

“The updated dates represent careful consideration of multiple logistical topics,” the agency said in a release on Monday, adding that the new timetable “also allow managers to ensure teams have enough rest and to replenish supplies of cryogenic propellants.”

NASA called off the August 29 launch attempt with just 40 minutes on the countdown clock after engineers identified an issue with one of the engines on the rocket’s core stage.

Five days later, it halted final preparations for another launch after a fuel leak came to the engineers’ attention.

The 97-meter-tall rocket and Orion spacecraft remain in place on the launchpad at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The uncrewed Artemis I mission will send the Orion on a fly-by of the moon, with the spacecraft returning to Earth six weeks later. If the test mission is a success, NASA will send astronauts on the same flight path for the Artemis II mission. Then, possibly in 2025, Artemis III will endeavor to put the first woman and first person of color on the lunar surface in the first crewed moon landing in five decades.

NASA wants to use the early Artemis missions to build a moon base for long-duration crewed missions, using what it learns for the first astronaut mission to Mars, possibly in the late 2030s.

NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) rocket with the Orion spacecraft aboard is seen atop a mobile launcher at Launch Pad 39B as preparations for launch continue on August 25, 2022.

After a long-awaited run-up to the day NASA's moon rocket was supposed to blast off from Earth, the mission's launch was delayed on Monday due to an engine issue.

But now NASA has a new target launch date for Artemis I: Saturday, September 3.

Just 40 minutes before liftoff, NASA froze the launch countdown to inspect a suspicious difference in temperature on one of the RS-25 engines as they all went through the routine process of bleeding hydrogen. Engine number 3 wasn't matching its three counterparts.

After more than an hour of holding for further information, the launch director finally called off the launch attempt at 8:35 a.m. ET.

"We don't launch until it's right," NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said on NASA's livestream shortly afterwards. "I think it's just illustrative that this is a very complicated machine, a very complicated system, and all those things have to work. And you don't want to light the candle until it's ready to go."

The Space Launch System core stage (RS-25 engines circled in blue) in the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida on June 10, 2021.

The rocket, called the Space Launch System (SLS), was partially filled with fuel at the time of the issue. NASA said the rocket and its Orion spaceship were stable, so engineers were maintaining that partially fueled state Monday morning in order to gather more data on the engine issue.

In a blog post after the scrub, NASA said that "launch controllers were continuing to evaluate why a bleed test to get the RS-25 engines on the bottom of the core stage to the proper temperature range for liftoff was not successful, and ran out of time in the two-hour launch window."

NASA had previously intended to test the engine bleed during a launch rehearsal in June, but was unable to do so because of a hydrogen leak.

The space agency previously said the earliest opportunity to launch would have been Friday, September 2 — which was one of the backup launch windows in case of technical issues or weather delays. Engineers would make the decision after gathering more data about the issue.

"That [date] is available to the launch team, however we will await a determination of what the plan is to go forward, to remedy the engine bleed, and then go from there," Derrol Nail, NASA spokesperson, said during live commentary on Monday. "We must wait to see what shakes out from their test data."

In the meantime, the rocket will remain on Launchpad 39B at NASA's Kennedy Space Center.

17 years of work, $ 50 billion, and NASA's return to the moon hang in the balance

More than 100,000 visitors were expected to gather near the space center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, to view the inaugural launch of the new moon rocket and spaceship.

NASA has spent 17 years and an estimated $ 50 billion developing the SLS rocket and its Orion spaceship, according to The Planetary Society.

During the Artemis I mission, NASA aims to fly the Orion crew capsule all the way around the moon — farther than any spacecraft built for humans has ever flown — before heading back for a splashdown in the Pacific Ocean in October.

There won't be people on board during the Artemis I launch. But if the spaceship successfully completes its mission, NASA plans to put astronauts in the Orion module for another trip around the moon, during the Artemis II mission, then land them on the lunar surface as part of Artemis III, in 2025. That would be humans' first return to the moon since 1972.

The Pale Blue Eye: Release Date, Cast, And More For The Christian Bale Netflix Movie https://briefnews.eu/the-pale-blue-eye-release-date-cast-and-more-for-the-christian-bale-netflix-movie/ https://briefnews.eu/the-pale-blue-eye-release-date-cast-and-more-for-the-christian-bale-netflix-movie/#respond Tue, 30 Aug 2022 18:09:26 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/the-pale-blue-eye-release-date-cast-and-more-for-the-christian-bale-netflix-movie/

(Welcome to …And More, our no-frills, zero B.S. guide to when and where you can watch upcoming movies and shows, and everything else you could possibly stand to know.)

Hot off his rather surprising appearance as the main villain Gorr the God Butcher in “Thor: Love and Thunder” (making him the latest actor to have dipped his toes into both ends of the DC and Marvel swimming pool), Christian Bale is about to venture back into much more familiar territory. Bale has collaborated with director Scott Cooper on a few occasions in the past, stretching back to 2013’s “Out of the Furnace” and the 2017 Western “Hostiles.” The third time should be the charm for both artists, as they’re once again reuniting for the upcoming “The Pale Blue Eye.” Official information about this project has remained scarce up until recently, as Netflix begins to ramp up marketing for the film that’s set to arrive roughly towards the end of this year and the beginning of the next.

Long a passion project for Cooper, “The Pale Blue Eye” now has a first look image and a release date to look forward to, along with various other notes and tidbits about what the film is about, who’s involved, and everything else you need to know.

The Pale Blue Eye Release Date And Where To Watch It

Christian Bale has seen one other film of his end up going straight to Netflix, although that wasn’t quite the intention from the beginning. Director Andy Serkis’ “Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle” was originally meant to debut theatrically via Warner Bros., but Netflix ended up swooping in and taking that picture off the studio’s hands. This time around, however, “The Pale Blue Sky” will undergo a limited theatrical release before premiering on Netflix. Mark it down on your calendars to look for theatrical showtimes near you on December 23, 2022. After that brief run, the movie will be made available on streaming January 6, 2023.

What Is The Pale Blue Eye About?

Upon the production’s initial announcement, director Scott Cooper stated that, “This is my attempt at a large-canvas whodunit, with a serial killer at its center. I want to make films that push me into a different, maybe uncomfortable space, but I am glad to have Christian go there with me. I’ve wanted to make this for over a decade and fortunately for me, Christian has perfectly aged into the lead character.” Cooper’s film is an adaptation, based on the 2006 novel of the same title by author Louis Bayard. The plot has been described as a “Gothic thriller that revolves around a series of fictional murders that took place in 1830 at the United States Military.” The longer synopsis of the novel is as follows:

At West Point Academy in 1830, the calm of an October evening is shattered by the discovery of a young cadet’s body swinging from a rope. The next morning, an even greater horror comes to light. Someone has removed the dead man’s heart. Augustus Landor—who acquired some renown in his years as a New York City police detective—is called in to discreetly investigate. It’s a baffling case Landor must pursue in secret, for the scandal could do irreparable damage to the fledgling institution. But he finds help from an unexpected ally—a moody, young cadet with a penchant for drink, two volumes of poetry to his name, and a murky past that changes from telling to telling. The strange and haunted Southern poet for whom Landor develops a fatherly affection, is named Edgar Allan Poe.

The Pale Blue Eye Cast And Crew

Given the lead actor involved and the well-known figure featured in the story, casting will prove to be even more important than usual with “The Pale Blue Eye.” Christian Bale is attached as lead protagonist Augustus Landor, the detective in charge of unraveling this disturbing murder mystery. The aforementioned “young cadet” who’s none other than Edgar Allan Poe himself will be portrayed by distinctive character actor Harry Melling, a veteran of the “Harry Potter” franchise, “The Ballad of Buster Scruggs,” “The Tragedy of Macbeth,” and the popular Netflix series “The Queen’s Gambit.” We previously reported that a bevy of other actors had also joined the cast. These names include Gillian Anderson, Robert Duvall, Timothy Spall, Lucy Boynton, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Toby Jones, and Harry Lawtey.

As mentioned, the film will be written and directed by Scott Cooper. The esteemed Howard Shore is reportedly on board to compose the score, with cinematography duties falling to Masanobu Takayanagi, who’s known for his work on “Warrior,” “The Grey,” “Spotlight,” and Cooper’s previous film, “Hostiles.” Stay tuned for more details as they come in.

The Bold Type Sets Final Season Premiere Date at Freeform https://briefnews.eu/the-bold-type-sets-final-season-premiere-date-at-freeform/ https://briefnews.eu/the-bold-type-sets-final-season-premiere-date-at-freeform/#respond Thu, 08 Apr 2021 17:53:29 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/the-bold-type-sets-final-season-premiere-date-at-freeform/

Meeting in the fashion closet next month: The Bold Type will return for its fifth and final season on Wednesday, May 26 at 10/9c, Freeform announced on Thursday.

The fashion-magazine drama’s six-episode swan song finds Jane, Kat and Sutton “on the brink of defining who they really are and how best to leave their mark on the world,” per the official synopsis. “Their futures are bright, and their love and support for each other will never change.” Check out a first-look photo from the final season above.

As previously announced, Nikohl Boosheri will reprise her role as Kat’s ex-girlfriend Adena for multiple episodes later in the season. And in fresh news, the season opener will feature guest star Carson Kressley (Queer Eye for the Straight Guy) as himself.

Season 4 wrapped up on July 16, 2020, two episodes short of its 18-episode order as a result of the coronavirus production shutdown. In the defacto season finale, Sutton ventured home for comfort after her husband Richard left her, but instead found several bottles of booze in her alcoholic mother’s fridge. Then while drunkenly drowning her sorrows, Sutton hooked up with her married ex-boyfriend. Elsewhere, Kat texted Eva that things between them were too complicated to continue, while Jane challenged Jacqueline’s decision to squash an inappropriate workplace story.

Looking ahead at Season 5, showrunner Wendy Straker Hauser previously told TVLine, “I feel like The Bold Type always comments on what’s going on in the world, and we don’t shy away from uncomfortable conversations. There’s a real opportunity for The Bold Type to dig deeper and to explore more stories with more women of color and various backgrounds, and to really challenge what conversations are being had today. [That’s] something really interesting that if we’re so lucky to explore, we would really go there.” (For more scoop on what’s in store, check out our finale post mortem with Hauser.)

The SAG Awards are taking a “shorter is better” approach to this year’s ceremony, which will consist of a one-hour, pre-taped telecast, our sister site Variety reports.

The program — which will not have a host or even a set — will consist of a mix of winner announcements, comedy bits and the SAG Awards’ signature “I Am An Actor” mini-speeches from performers.

“We’re looking at trying to do a unique award ceremony in an hour and leave people saying, which they very rarely do [with an awards show], ‘Man, I wish we had more,” executive producer Todd Milliner tells Variety.

The show airs Sunday, April 4 at 9 pm ET/6 pm PT on TNT and TBS.

Wynonna Earp to End Syfy Run With Back Half of Season 4 — Get Premiere Date for Final 6 Episodes https://briefnews.eu/wynonna-earp-to-end-syfy-run-with-back-half-of-season-4-get-premiere-date-for-final-6-episodes/ https://briefnews.eu/wynonna-earp-to-end-syfy-run-with-back-half-of-season-4-get-premiere-date-for-final-6-episodes/#respond Fri, 05 Feb 2021 21:12:42 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/wynonna-earp-to-end-syfy-run-with-back-half-of-season-4-get-premiere-date-for-final-6-episodes/

It’s last call at Shorty’s, so get ready to let your freak flag fly free one last time.

Wynonna Earp will end its Syfy run with the back half of Season 4, it was officially announced on Friday — and those final six episodes will premiere on Friday, March 5 at 10/9c.

As such, the series finale will land on Friday, April 9 — almost five years to the day of its debut.

“I’d like to thank our wonderful cast and crew, all of whom were instrumental in bringing Wynonna Earp to our loyal and passionate audience,” series creator/showrunner Emily Andras said in a statement. “We couldn’t be prouder of these last six episodes on Syfy, and are thrilled to share them with our beloved fans, who have changed our lives forever. I have been honored to tell Wynonna and her family’s story, and along with Seven24, Cineflix and CTV Sci-Fi, are hopeful we can continue to share their inspiring tales in the future.”

The supernatural drama’s long-term future has been in flux for almost two years, ever since production on Season 4 was delayed due to financial challenges on producer IDW Entertainment’s part. Ultimately, Cineflix Studios came aboard to co-produce Season 4 (in trade for handling international sales of the series), and production resumed on the 12-episode fourth season, which aired in two halves.

Despite now pulling modest numbers (Season 4A averaged 320,000 total viewers and shy of a 0.2 demo rating in LIve+Same Day numbers), Wynonna Earp is a two-time People’s Choice Award winner for Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show and, more significantly, a four-time GLAAD Award nominee for Outstanding Drama Series (due to its liberal representation of LGBTQ characters/relationships).

Can Peacemaker hit the proverbial bull’s-eye, with just six episodes to go and at least one major mess clean up? (Wynonna and Doc broke up in the midseason finale, after she dishonorably shot the Clayton clan’s Sheriff Holt in the back.)

Tim Rozon, who plays Doc Holliday, seemed to give fans hope of a satisfying ending to Season 4, telling TVLine, “This fandom is the most incredible fandom, built on kindness and acceptance…. It’s an incredible thing to be a part of, and this season is the season that fandom deserves.”

Home Improvement Reunion: Tim Allen and Richard Karn’s Assembly Required Sets Premiere Date — Watch Promo https://briefnews.eu/home-improvement-reunion-tim-allen-and-richard-karns-assembly-required-sets-premiere-date-watch-promo/ https://briefnews.eu/home-improvement-reunion-tim-allen-and-richard-karns-assembly-required-sets-premiere-date-watch-promo/#respond Mon, 25 Jan 2021 17:58:16 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/home-improvement-reunion-tim-allen-and-richard-karns-assembly-required-sets-premiere-date-watch-promo/

Home Improvement costars Tim Allen and Richard Karn reunite on the set of Tool Time in the first promo for History Channel’s Assembly Required.

Premiering Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 10/9c, the 10-episode series will “spotlight the best and brightest makers from across the country, as they compete head-to-head, to create mind-blowing builds — everything from a dual all-season ice melter/leaf blower and all-in-one riding comfort mower, to a do-it-yourself jacuzzi and BBQ bicycle — which not only pushes each builder beyond their limits, but challenges their inner fixer and inventor to build it bigger, better and more powerful.”

Due to the pandemic, each episode will feature “three incredible makers who compete from their own home shops” as they “create insane builds with their bare hands.” Allen and Karn will “pop in virtually to deliver colorful commentary and oversee their work across two challenge rounds.” DIY YouTuber April Wilkerson will serve as the series’ “resident expert” and be the duo’s “go-to source on the ‘how and why’ of each build, breaking down the complexities and giving the audience a bird’s eye view of what our challengers are up against.” Watch a nostalgic teaser below:

Allen and Karn’s latest reunion comes nearly 30 years after the premiere of ABC’s Home Improvement (which debuted Sept. 17, 1991). The pair was previously reunited on Allen’s Last Man Standing, which is set to conclude its nine-season run this spring.

“They say a longtime friend is someone who responds with, ‘This is by far your worst idea ever.’ Fortunately, this was a great idea working with Richard,” Allen said in a statement. “I loved those days doing Tool Time. We both share a great appreciation of people who can solve a problem not by talking about it, but by ‘doing’ it with creativity and amazing building skills. Plus, it gives me more time to make fun of his fake beard.”

Added Karn, “Tim has always been jealous of my facial hair — mainly because when he grows his it looks a bit off — but I will say this has been one of his best ideas ever. Working alongside him has been the bright spot of this difficult year. We see eye to eye on a lot of things, but if nothing else this show has brought out the differences in our own personal design preferences and when you add in the creativity of our contestants, well, let’s just say it brings me great joy to be a part of this!”
