Bose also has a new model on the way, the QuietComfort Earbuds II. As the name suggests, this set is an update to the first QC earbuds the company debuted in 2020. This time around, the company has retooled the design, tweaked the fit and added some heavy-duty sound calibration technology. But all of the upgrades come at a cost as the QuietComfort Earbuds II will be $ 20 more then their predecessor at launch.

Bose says these next-gen buds are about a third smaller than the previous version, which will be a welcome change. The first QuietComfort Earbuds were plenty big, so anything the company can do to trim the overall size will be an improvement. Bose explains that it has also changed the fit of the earbuds with what it calls a Fit Kit. Essentially, the ear tip is now two pieces, with an oval-shaped tip and a “stability band” that keeps the buds secure in your ears. There are three sizes of each, so you can mix and match bases on what works best for you. What’s more, the Bose app offers a fit test that checks for an adequate seal by detecting any leaks.

Inside, the QuietComfort Earbuds II are equipped with what Bose calls CustomTune sound calibration. The technology has been available on the company’s SoundControl hearing aids, but in this case it’s used to improve a bunch of core earbud features. By measuring the acoustic properties of your ear canal, Bose says CustomTune tailors both the audio and the active noise cancellation (ANC) to you. The process takes less than half a second and is completed every time you put the earbuds in your ears. The company further explains that CustomTune “fully optimizes the sound frequency profile to the unique properties of every ear, so the sound that reaches the eardrum is just as the artist intended.” For ANC, CustomTune calibrates the noise reduction signal and Bose says its noise-canceling tech is better at blocking human voices and crying babies. Plus, the ANC is continuously adapting to any changes, keeping distractions to a minimum.

CustomTune is also applied to ambient sound on the QuietComfort Earbuds II. When you’re using that transparency or Aware Mode, a feature called ActiveSense can pick up any loud noise and apply the appropriate level of cancellation until it stops. Bose says CustomTune also helps the QC Earbuds II offer an ambient sound that’s “as natural and lifelike as possible.”

The QuietComfort Earbuds II are IPX4 rated for sweat and water resistance, so you should be able to use them during workouts with no problem. Bose says it also improved call quality thanks to changes to the noise removal algorithm. And lastly, you can expect up to six hours of battery life with three more charges in the case. A quick-charge feature will give you two hours of use in 20 minutes.

The QuietComfort Earbuds II will be available on September 15th for $ 299, but you can pre-order them now. Only the black color option will ship on that date, but Bose is planning to sell a “Soapstone” version later this year.

‘Objects In Space’ Lets Players Customize Their Starship For Trade, Stealth, Or Piracy https://briefnews.eu/objects-in-space-lets-players-customize-their-starship-for-trade-stealth-or-piracy/ https://briefnews.eu/objects-in-space-lets-players-customize-their-starship-for-trade-stealth-or-piracy/#respond Tue, 26 Jun 2018 13:07:27 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/objects-in-space-lets-players-customize-their-starship-for-trade-stealth-or-piracy/ ss_ecd3cd99785edb908c9caeaa5f77e7b4e4013be1.1920x1080.jpg

Objects in Space gives you your own starship and a galaxy to explore, picking up trade jobs, hiding from organized criminals, dodging shifty governments, or robbing shady captains as you see fit. Just take some time to tweak your ship’s build depending on what you want to do, though, as not all ships are created equally.

And don’t be cheap, either. You only have yourself to blame for buying discount thrusters.

Objects in Space sets you free in the universe, able to go wherever you want to provided you can afford the fuel and keep your ship intact. To do this, you can take on odd jobs for people and corporations, moving freight, helping people get around, looting abandoned ships, or attacking folks for their cargo. All of these are viable options as you traipse across the galaxy, letting you choose a life for yourself among the stars. With a ton of small activities each telling their own tale, there’s lots to experience throughout the game.

Based on what you want to do, you may wish to customize your ship in certain ways. All of the ship’s parts can be swapped out for different ones, allowing you to decide how it operates and what aspects you focus on. If you have an eye for stealth, combat, or speed, you can focus your ship’s build on that, but you also need to be wary of part costs. Cheap parts may get you by, but they’re also a lot less reliable and require more repairs. You’re in charge of that as well, as each mechanism works in complex ways, giving players a sense of being in a real starship. This sometimes means doing quick fixes, just like you would in a real rickety starship, so some challenge comes with all that deep simulation and customization.

Objects in Space looks to offer some incredible complexity and intriguing personal stories for you as you chart your route, and life, in space.

Objects in Space is available for $ 19.99 on Steam Early Access. For more information on the game and Flat Earth Games, you can head to the game’s site, the developer’s site, or follow them on Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.

Twitch allows everyone to customize streams with multiple tools https://briefnews.eu/twitch-allows-everyone-to-customize-streams-with-multiple-tools/ https://briefnews.eu/twitch-allows-everyone-to-customize-streams-with-multiple-tools/#respond Tue, 19 Jun 2018 16:21:19 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/twitch-allows-everyone-to-customize-streams-with-multiple-tools/

Twitch’s work on Extensions — video overlays and visual embellishments for streams — keeps plugging along. Today the broadcasting service announced that now every user can turn on up to three different video overlays and a trio of below-player Extensions for their channel. It all sounds pretty easy to use, too. Just head over to the Extensions Manager on your channel dashboard and activate the six add-ons you want. To celebrate, there are even a handful of new Extensions available from developers, some explicitly made to be combined with one another.

Amazon’s billion-dollar baby first introduced Extensions in late 2017, and has since made them compatible with the Twitch mobile app. Sure, there are other options for customizing your broadcast’s look and feel, but setting them up isn’t exactly easy. More often than not, you need special software and some knowhow to get everything up and running. Twitch baking these tools in and making them easy to use is smart, and a good way to keep people within its platform and spending money.

Google Pixel Buds let you customize which apps send spoken notifications https://briefnews.eu/google-pixel-buds-let-you-customize-which-apps-send-spoken-notifications/ https://briefnews.eu/google-pixel-buds-let-you-customize-which-apps-send-spoken-notifications/#respond Wed, 09 May 2018 23:16:10 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/google-pixel-buds-let-you-customize-which-apps-send-spoken-notifications/

A beta preview back in March hinted at a few features coming to Google’s Pixel Buds, like expanded double-tap functionality and in-ear detection. But there’s another addition coming for the wireless headphones: New settings to switch spoken notifications on or off for each app.

Previously, Android users only had a basic toggle to activate or deactivate spoken notifications sent to Assistant headphones for all apps at once. Now they can go app by app, switching on the vocalized alerts to their comfort. Messaging services are the only ones that deliver notifications by default, so you’ll have to click the others ‘on’ manually. Finally, this doesn’t seem like an upgrade to the Pixel Buds themselves but through the Google app, theorized 9to5Google, since they appeared after downloading Android 8.2.

Hulu Live TV subscribers can customize their Olympic coverage https://briefnews.eu/hulu-live-tv-subscribers-can-customize-their-olympic-coverage/ https://briefnews.eu/hulu-live-tv-subscribers-can-customize-their-olympic-coverage/#respond Sat, 03 Feb 2018 13:17:57 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/hulu-live-tv-subscribers-can-customize-their-olympic-coverage/

The 2018 Winter Olympics are just around the corner and while anyone with access to NBC channels will be able to watch the competitions and events, those with Hulu Live TV will get to build a personalized viewing experience tailored to their interests. Starting today, Hulu will let those with a Live TV subscription pick which Olympic sports they’re most interested in and from there, it will customize users’ UIs based on those preferences. For example, users selecting luge and freestyle skiing as their favorites will see coverage of those events appear up top in the Olympic Winter Games section of the Hulu UI. They’ll also see replays, highlights and athlete profiles surfaced.

Subscribers will have access to all of NBC’s Olympics coverage, but content in their Olympics collection will be ranked based on their preferences. Hulu is also putting together other collections of content that will compile highlights and clips from the Games.

Comcast announced earlier this month that it’s also giving Xfinity subscribers some useful and exclusive ways to view Olympic coverage. Its offerings include a feature that will let users jump into a live broadcast at any point and restart it from the beginning as well as “virtual channels” that will be centered on both specific sports and themes like “biggest upsets” and “funniest moments.” Additionally, Olympics fans can catch some Olympic preview shows over on Netflix and NBC is releasing VR coverage of the Games that will work on a number of devices.

With so much Olympic coverage available for viewers to watch, Hulu’s personalization tools are definitely useful. The Olympic Games kick off on February 8th and run through the 25th.

  • Create unique, responsive audio visual installations at home, work, at an event, or anywhere using the Nanoleaf Aurora Rhythm Lighting System Kit.
  • The Aurora Rhythm system can replicate the natural sunrise for a peaceful morning wake-up.
  • Full spectrum lighting combats affects of seasonal sunshine deprivation many of us experience during the long, dark winters.
  • The modular panels can be arranged in almost countless setups.

With the Aurora Rhythm system from Nanoleaf, you can transform any space into a dance club filled with color and light that pulsates in time to the music. You can also transform a space into a tranquil sanctuary where soft, warm colors gently shift and glow, enhancing the sense of stability and calm. You can use the system to enrich the experience of watching a movie or playing a game, programming the Aurora panels to flash and surge with light and color as the sound track surges or the sound effects thump.

You can also use a Nanoleaf Aurora as the most pleasant alarm clock imaginable, setting the panels to replicate the slow, peaceful rise of the sun, a process that naturally lifts the human body out of slumber and into wakefulness without that savage jarring of a screeching alarm. And finally, the light panels can be configured to give off the same full spectrum lighting of midday sunlight, combatting the depressive effects of seasonal light deprivation many of us experience during the long, dark winters.

Ok, so that’s what the thing can do, but what am I actually talking about here in terms of hardware?

The Nanoleaf Aurora Rhythm kit comprises nine equilateral triangular panels (you can connect up to 30 using expansion packs) that each measure about nine inches on a side. The panels connect using slender rectangular circuitry and they can be pasted on a wall with included semi-permanent adhesive pads. (The same pads you get with Command Strips, FYI.)

Once connected to the power source and with their wireless receiver unit connected, the Aurora system is set up. All you need to do then is pair it with your smartphone or tablet (iOS and Android both work), or to wireless-enabled media devices and stream audio to the panels.

They illuminate in time to the beat and melody of the sounds, with their color patterns informed by your input using the app. You can select a palette of blues or greens, reds or yellows, or you can allow the device to span the spectrum. Using multiple LED bulbs, the Aurora can generate millions of different shades and hues, not to mention white light measuring from as soft and warm as 1200k all the way to crisp, bright 6599k light.

The Nanoleaf Aurora system is part art installation, part science project, and all around engaging, which is why Insider Picks included the system in our buying guide of the best smart lights you can buy.

It makes the experience of sound a richer sensory experience that more fully engages the mind and the body. The system can be used in a baby’s nursery, a startup company’s conference room, a dorm, a lobby, and anywhere else, because ultimately the Aurora is what you make it — just pick your color preferences and add some sound.

Buy the Nanoleaf Aurora Smarter Modular Lighting System Kit at Urban Outfitters for $ 200

Buy the Nanoleaf Aurora Expansion Pack at Best Buy for $ 59.99

Buy the Nanolead Aurora Rhythm Add-On Module at Amazon for $ 64.99

Twitch extensions are live and ready to customize your page https://briefnews.eu/twitch-extensions-are-live-and-ready-to-customize-your-page/ https://briefnews.eu/twitch-extensions-are-live-and-ready-to-customize-your-page/#respond Thu, 07 Sep 2017 05:47:43 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/twitch-extensions-are-live-and-ready-to-customize-your-page/

Your favorite Twitch stream might look a bit busier and more colorful than usual now that the platform has switched on the extensions it announced at PAX West. Streamers can now customize their pages with interactive experiences they can display over their live videos, including Hearthstone match tickers, virtual pets, the channel’s top cheerers, various overlays, live trackers, in-game statistics and the like.

Some extensions like “Gear on Amazon” can help them earn affiliate money by giving them a way to display their favorite products on screen — they don’t even have to leave their dashboard to create their list. While the platform has a bunch of extensions streamers can use, they can also create their own plug-ins if they need something more personalized.

Twitch is giving third-party developers access to free asset hosting and fanout messaging on its Extensions platform. That means streamers can commission people to conjure up plug-ins for personal use if they can’t create their own, allowing them to add their own flair to their channels.

Twitch Product Manager for Extensions Ryan Lubinski said in a statement:

“Twitch is a platform where communities create, share, and interact with the content they love. With Twitch Extensions, we’re taking interactivity to the next level by empowering our developer community to create customized interactive content, directly integrated with the Twitch platform, opening up a whole new world of creator-viewer interaction.”

Although the feature is now live, it sounds like the company has yet to reveal everything about it. Twitch promises to share more at TwitchCon Developer Day on October 19th, including “how streamers and developers can make money through Twitch Extensions.”

ControllerGamers have usually tried to stand out by getting really good at a particular game, or sticking with a certain console.

Microsoft wants to make it easier to add some flair to your gaming set up by letting you design a custom controller through an online tool.

It’s simple to use, but gives you enough options that you probably won’t ever see one like it. I’ve walked through the creation process below so you’ll know what to expect if you make one yourself.

Start designing your own Xbox controller here >>

You start with a plain, black controller, and can change the color of its body or jump ahead to a different part. At the bottom you’ll also notice a button that lets you switch between a 2D and 3D view.

Picking a color gives you a high resolution view of how the controller will look.

Each color choice carries over through the different steps, so you can mix and match until you find a combination that fits your aesthetic.
