Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Nicola Coughlan, Jamie-Lee O’Donnell, Dylan Llewellyn and Siobhan McSweeney all appear in the Channel 4 comedy – based in Northern Ireland during the Troubles. They attempted to impress judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood with an alcohol-laced trifle for their signature challenge. But a few of them tucked into the booze early as they whipped up sponges, jelly and custard. 

Prue told Dylan, 27, the layers of his Bakewell trifle are “a bit casual”, while she branded Saoirse-Monica’s effort “a bit messy and smeary”. 

Paul told Siobhan her trifle “looks like an aquarium,” while Prue added: “It does look like slime.” 

For the showstopper, the contestants had to make a two-tiered cake based on their favourite decade. 

Dylan crafted a 60s camper van using lemon cake, while Jamie-Lee, 28, fashioned the plane Amelia Earhart landed in Londonderry in the 1930s out of coconut cream cake. 

Nicola, 32, prepared a bowler inspired by 1930s film Berlin, while Saoirse-Monica, 26, made a 1960s peace and love lemon and blueberry cake. 

Siobhan, whose chocolate raspberry cake was in memory of family camping trips to Cork in the 1980s, later joked: “I’ve basically ruined the memory of my mother and father.” 

After the final challenge Nicola said: “I am a broken woman,” while Saoirse-Monica added: “I don’t think it could have gone any worse.”

The Star Wars Battlefront 2 release date is fast approaching and fans have been waiting for major news regarding the game’s loot box system.

Similar to games like Overwatch, players can earn loot boxes (Crates) by levelling up and completing objectives.

But while Overwatch’s loot boxes only contains cosmetic items, Battlefront 2’s Crates contain Star Cards that can boost your power.

Fans could also buy these Crates with real money, which means that anybody willing to spend extra cash could feasibly have an advantage on the battlefield.

However, EA and developers DICE have today confirmed the changes fans have been waiting to hear.

The system has been changed for the Battlefront release date launch so that Epic Star Cards will not be obtainable through Crates. 

Players will need to craft them instead, although there will still be a few special ones included in the Pre-Ordered and Special Editions of the game.

EA are also freeing up more of the exclusive Crate weapons and including them in the game for everyone, however, not all are making the switch.

Here’s the latest from EA and DICE:

Epic Star Cards, the highest tier of Star Cards available at launch, have been removed from Crates. To help keep everyone on a level playing field, these Star Cards will primarily be available through crafting, with the exception of special Epic Star Cards available through pre-order, deluxe, and starter packs.

You’ll need to reach a certain rank to craft upgraded Star Cards. You won’t be able to buy a bunch of Crates, grind everything up into crafting materials, and immediately use them to get super powerful Star Cards. You can only upgrade the ability to craft higher tier Star Cards by ranking up through playing the game.

Weapons are locked behind specific milestones. While a select few will be found in Crates, the rest can only be attained by play. Want to unlock a new weapon for your Heavy? Play as a Heavy and you’ll gain access to the class’s new weapons. 

Class-specific gear and items can be unlocked by playing as them. As you progress through your favorite class, you’ll hit milestones granting you class-specific Crates. These will include a mix of Star Cards and Crafting Parts to benefit your class’s development.

While this might not be everything fans were hoping to hear, DICE have also revealed that they will be changing things while the game is being played.

“This system, as well as all of the others, will be continually iterated on and improved. As we first announced at EA Play in June, we’re committed to keeping the community together. 

“All upcoming weapons, maps, heroes, and vehicles introduced in Star Wars Battlefront II’s post-release content will be free so that players can play alongside friends as the world of Star Wars Battlefront II continues to grow. 

“We know that the magic is in the balance, and we’re going to make sure that we continue to make a game that is fun for everyone.”

The Star Wars Battlefront 2 release date is set for November 17, 2017, a month before the release of Star War: The Last Jedi.

Wish the Honda Civic Type R didn’t look like a Civic Type R? There’s now an alternative way to enjoy Honda’s turbocharged rocket without being seen driving such a thing on the street where all your neighbors can stare at you. It’s the Type R’s K20C1 crate engine.

Available for the first time in the United States through the Honda Performance Development (HPD) Racing Line program, the premium-fueled turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four can be yours for $ 6519.87 before tax and shipping. Where previous Type R engines—like the Civics they lived in—were offered only in Europe and Asia, now that the car is available here, so is the crate motor. Honda used the 2017 SEMA show to reveal the addition to its HPD Racing Line. In our testing of the Type R, we’ve noted that the engine is smooth, punchy, and—despite the turbo pumping up to 23.2 psi—not very laggy. Extracting all 306 horsepower and 295 pound-feet is an easy, seamless job, thanks to a flat torque curve that peaks at 2500 rpm.

2017 Honda Civic Type R

But unlike Dodge, which now offers a 707-hp Hellcrate engine to all comers, Honda is going to be seriously nitpicky about where this K20C1 engine goes. If you aren’t racing a Honda or Acura in a sanctioned series, you’re not eligible and will have to find your Type R motivator in a salvage yard. Honda makes buyers of the engine sign a lengthy contract that requires proof several times over that you’re not attempting to bolt it inside a Subaru BRZ or other non–Honda/Acura product and, essentially, that your creation is intended for on-track competition. Also unlike Dodge, Honda offers no warranty, assuming that parts sold by HPD are only to be used in racing, not on the street.

Still, amateur racers with enough time, cash, and heroic wrenching skills could apply the Type R treatment to new and classic Hondas—if they can find a sanctioning body that will allow it. Some of the more logical, cost-effective choices might include the Fit and the Prelude. And remember, this is practically the same 2.0-liter engine used in the 2018 Accord, so the engine should bolt right in for a quick 54-horse upgrade. That is, if your marriage can withstand the strain of buying a brand-new, comfortable family sedan and turning it into a race car.

There are a plethora of subscription boxes to choose from these days, including nerdy ones like Loot Crate and Minecraft, kid-friendly boxes like the one from Nickelodeon, science-based subscriptions from MEL Chemistry and makeup assortments like Birchbox. Now even venerable toy company Hasbro has decided to jump into the fray with a a subscription service of its own, called the Hasbro Gaming Crate. It comes in both kid-friendly and more adult-oriented flavors and will send you three games every three months for $ 49.99.

Both of the featured games this first month have something you wear while you play. The first Family Crate will have an exclusive VR board game, Mask of the Pharoah, which was originally titled Mask of Anubis in Japan. It comes with a board, digital app and VR mask; players explore a pyramid in ancient Egypt while describing what they see. The Party Crate features Joe Santagato Speak Out, where you have to wear a weird mouthpiece that keeps your mouth open while you try to say different adult-themed phrases.

There are other board game boxes out there, like Board Game Bento and Awesome Pack, but this is the first time a major company has offered such a service. Hasbro will also curate each three-month delivery to include a few themed items that complement the included games. The company is offering free shipping on the first crate, too, which could help convince you to take the plunge. You can sign up now and crates should ship this fall.

One of the teaser trailers for the eagerly anticipated Dodge Challenger Demon featured a big crate full of goodies for the car. As with the car, though, Dodge was a bit coy about what was inside, simply saying there were 18 items, consisting of tools and parts. Now we know what tools the car gets, and they’re some very nice Snap-On pieces.

All of the tools and accessories are branded with the Demon logo. And the tools included should be perfect for easy tire changes at the track. Specifically, the tools include a hydraulic jack, cordless impact wrench with charger, torque wrench, and a tire pressure gauge. There’s also a fender cover to protect the paint when working under the hood, and a nice carrying bag with the Demon emblem on the side. And, naturally, all of the tools are limited-edition units made specifically to accompany the Demon.

If you want to do anything more involved than wheel swaps, you’ll need to supply a few tools of your own. But this should be good for the weekend drag racer or autocross driver who wants to drive down to the course on street tires, then throw on the sticky rubber at the track. Also, as you may have noted, these tools only constitute six items in Dodge’s count, leaving 12 others that must be car parts. We know that among the parts are some factory Demon wheels, and items that Dodge describes as “Direct Connection Performance Parts” and the “Demon Track Pack System.” Details on these remain scarce, but they will probably be revealed closer to the car’s debut date of April 11.
