Malcolm has previously spoken out on his personal health struggle and praised the Blackpool Victoria Hospital for their care.

Malcolm said: “Most of December I was in an induced coma, in the care of these brilliant, wonderful people at the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU).

“Fortunately I didn’t realise how bad it was; I was dying. The cardiac team, headed by Mr Joseph Zacharias, simply saved my life.

He continued to the Blackpool Gazette: “While there I collapsed and was brought here to Blackpool Victoria – where I was operated on, in a procedure which was described by my surgeon Mr Zacharias as groundbreaking.

“The heart attack tore a hole in my heart, they operated and took a chance.”

Coronation Street: Ray Crosby takes revenge as Faye Windass tells police about her rape https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-ray-crosby-takes-revenge-as-faye-windass-tells-police-about-her-rape/ https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-ray-crosby-takes-revenge-as-faye-windass-tells-police-about-her-rape/#respond Tue, 12 Jan 2021 11:51:16 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-ray-crosby-takes-revenge-as-faye-windass-tells-police-about-her-rape/

But what will Ray do? Craig promises Faye she’s done the right thing by telling the truth to the police but she is dealt a shock soon after.

Ray has been released and a fired-up Tim calls into Adam’s office, who assures him that he’s no wish to see Faye punished and he’s told the police that.

But will Faye manage to get through her ordeal and lead to Ray finally being dealt the comeuppance he deserves?

Faye’s family will no doubt be preparing to protect her as Ray will be out for revenge and keen to ruin Coronation Street.

If you have been affected by Faye’s storyline, please contact Rape Crisis on 0808 802 9999 or visit their website here.

Coronation Street fans baffled as former star auditions on Little Mix The Search ‘Hang on’ https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-fans-baffled-as-former-star-auditions-on-little-mix-the-search-hang-on/ https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-fans-baffled-as-former-star-auditions-on-little-mix-the-search-hang-on/#respond Sun, 27 Sep 2020 17:41:16 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-fans-baffled-as-former-star-auditions-on-little-mix-the-search-hang-on/

Little Mix The Search kicked off on BBC One on Saturday as the X Factor winners went on the hunt for an all-new band to join them on their next tour. The premise of the shows sees band members Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson put budding singers through a series of auditions to see if they have what it takes to secure a spot in a prospective band. With the boyband category kicking off the show, fans of ITV soap Coronation Street were bamboozled to spot a familiar face.

Aspiring singer Elliott appeared on the BBC singing contest on Saturday evening in the hopes of impressing the Little Mix girls.

As he began he introduction, he told viewers: “I want to be the most famous ever to come out of Oldham.”

The auditionee then explained his acting past, which has included roles in Coronation Street and Channel 4 soap, Hollyoaks.

“When I was 15, I went to my first acting class,” he said.

“Next minute,” Elliott continued. “I’m an actor, what else can I say?”

Elliott then reeled off his CV before being asked what role he played on the ITV serial drama.

“Coronation Street, I was just a walk-on,” he explained before adding: “But I got a lot of camera time.”

And it appears he did indeed as viewers quickly took to social media to express their surprise at seeing him on the talent show.

While a fourth tweeted: “Winky Elliott is very good. And he was in Corrie so that’s a YES. #LittleMixTheSearch.”

“Elliot looks like an extra from Coronation Street… hang on, what? #LittleMixTheSearch,” a fifth joked.

Elliott certainly impressed the band as he made it through to the final round of auditions for a part in the boyband.

However, with just five spaces available in the group, the last seven singers had to perform in front of a live audience to see how they got on.

And sadly for the former Corrie star, he didn’t quite make it, saying his goodbyes at the end of the episode.

However, he stayed optimistic, telling Little Mix: “I didn’t even expect youse to view my tape.”

Jesy encouraged him to keep pursuing his singing career due to his talent but unfortunately, it won’t be on Little Mix The Search.

Little Mix The Search continues on Sunday at 6:45pm.

Yasmeen was horrified by the revelation but Geoff continued to viciously insult his wife before lunging at her with a knife.

The Speed Daal chef picked up a wine bottle and hit her husband over the head before stabbing him in the neck.

In recent scenes, Tim was told Yasmeen just missed his jugular but his father remains in a serious condition.

Coronation Street residents were quick to take side with Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) revealing he has a bad feeling about Geoff.

Coronation Street spoilers: Ken Barlow ‘homeless’ as Tracy makes devastating discovery https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-ken-barlow-homeless-as-tracy-makes-devastating-discovery/ https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-ken-barlow-homeless-as-tracy-makes-devastating-discovery/#respond Tue, 28 Apr 2020 21:51:24 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-ken-barlow-homeless-as-tracy-makes-devastating-discovery/

Ken (played by William Roache) has been a pinnacle figure of Coronation Street since the show began airing six decades ago and has always resided at his beloved No.1. Recent months have seen him up sticks and join partner Claudia Colby (Rula Lenska) at the Stillwaters retirement complex, only for the pair to split during last week’s episodes of the ITV soap when he decided the cobbles was where he belonged. However, with daughter Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) now the lady of the manor, could a discovery about the property in the latest instalment of the Weatherfield-based drama reveal the stalwart could have no home at all?

After it was revealed in the soap’s 10,000th episode Ken was moving on, his children Tracy and Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) began bidding on who would claim their childhood home as their own.

It was eventually the former and her husband Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) who got their hands on No.1, moving in with daughter Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) when the stalwart began living at Stillwaters.

Following his split from Claudia, however, the Weatherfield icon returned to what is his daughter’s home last week and it already seemed he was a stranger in what was once his house.

As he tried to settle back into a routine during Monday evening’s episode, having been demoted to somewhat of a guest, a dispute about who the owner of the property is could lead the soap legend to end up on the streets.

At the beginning of the episode, it was revealed there was a problem with the boiler as Amy had a cold shower and didn’t hold back in letting her mother and grandfather know how she felt about the issue.

Tracy then called on a plumber to come and have a look, who explained there was something wrong and it would cost a fair bit to fix.

After sending the maintenance man away, the florist voiced her anguish to her father, telling him: “Did you hear how much it’s all going to cost? The best part of two and a half grand.”

Ken replied: “Well, I’m sorry to hear it’s going to cost so much, but don’t expect me to put my hand in my pocket.”

“Oh, I wouldn’t dare, dad,” Tracy hit back, adding: “I’d be too scared a load of moths would fly out.

“But it is your responsibility,” she told her father, to which he asked: “Oh yeah, how do you work that out?”

“Well, you’re the one who keeps banging on about how the house is still yours,” his daughter explained.

“You made it perfectly clear that the house very much belongs to you and to you alone, so actually Tracy, over to you,” the stalwart remarked, pushing the responsibility back onto her shoulders.

Coronation Street star addresses new storyline after death on soap [COMMENT]

Adding his pennies worth in, Peter said: “He’s right, you did say that,” to which Tracy’s reply wasn’t too pleasant given her brother was defending their father.

With it looking ever more likely the florist will have to foot the bill for the boiler repairs, she could take action against Ken’s reluctance to help.

Given she believes she is the owner of No.1 Coronation Street, the manipulating character could decide she no longer wants Ken living under her roof.

If his daughter really does throw him out for failing to pay up, will the stalwart end up homeless as he has nowhere else to go?

Could this have been the big storyline Executive Producer Iain MacLeod was hinting at when he said a “horrifically difficult” sequence of events would bestow upon the Barlow household?

Speaking with Metro.co.uk, the soap boss said: “Having re-established Steve and Tracy’s relationship on its strongest footing, something will happen that probably has the most far-reaching impact of any story we’ve done since I’ve been on the show.”

With nowhere to live, will the soap stalwart end up going missing and leave his family and his neighbours in turmoil over his wellbeing?

Or will the pensioner fight back and reclaim No.1 as his own, forcing Tracy to move back to her old flat with Steve and Amy?

Coronation Street continues Wednesday at 7:30pm on ITV.

Of course, Karl knows he wouldn’t have been caught if it weren’t for Craig and Dev, so they could find history repeating itself if Karl were to lock them in a situation they couldn’t escape from.

Dev is already struggling at the moment after learning his daughter Asha’s (Tanisha Gorey) intimate photos had gone viral.

After going to the police and not getting the answer he was looking for, could the Alahan family find themselves coming face to face with Karl?

Coronation Street boss ‘confirms’ Ollie Battersby’s death in heartbreaking storyline? https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-boss-confirms-ollie-battersbys-death-in-heartbreaking-storyline/ https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-boss-confirms-ollie-battersbys-death-in-heartbreaking-storyline/#respond Sun, 05 Apr 2020 18:10:38 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-boss-confirms-ollie-battersbys-death-in-heartbreaking-storyline/

Coronation Street could change forever in upcoming months as residents Leanne Battersby (played by Jane Danson) and Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) try desperately to understand their son, Oliver’s new medical condition. But what is the outcome of the storyline? It seems show boss Iain MacLeod may have teased the young boy’s death…

Back in February, express.co.uk predicted a new health battle for young Oliver following a spoiler picture from his birthday party celebration saw him asleep on the sofa while his family and friends gathered around.

Now, producer Iain has spoken out about what’s to come and explained how this storyline could be one of the most hard-hitting, set to affect numerous families.

In recent scenes, fans have seen Steve and Tracy Barlow’s (Kate Ford) relationship “re-established” to become the “strongest” it ever has been.

“Something will happen that probably has the most far-reaching impact of any story we’ve done since I’ve been on the show, and I include both stints.

“Something horrifically difficult and challenging will happen that draws in 3-4 different clans on the Street and forces them to deal with the hardest thing anyone would ever had to deal with,” Iain told Metro.co.uk.

The storyline in question will begin this spring and will play out until the summer apparently.

And this certainly fits in with recent spoilers which have suggested Oliver will start experiencing epileptic fits while left in the care of Summer.

A previous soap synopsis explained how Leanne asked Steve to look after their son for a day, but tragedy occurs.

But what is the diagnosis?

Many fans took to Twitter to discuss the possible storyline.

One said: “See know somethings up with oliver. Hes always tired and sick. Now leannes seen panicking too. Deffo the big spring storyline #Corrie”

“I said the big storyline involving several families would be something to do with Oliver and something happening to him #Corrie,” anther remarked.

Viewers will have to wait and see whether or not Oliver will be able to manage his epilepsy – if indeed it is epilepsy.

There is a chance he might have inherited a genetic disorder, his grandfather Jim McDonald (Charles Lawson) was diagnosed with Myotonic dystrophy several years ago.

It is a muscle loss and weakness condition which leads to the person diagnosed struggling with mobility as it worsens, could this be the beginning for Oliver?

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 7.30pm on ITV.

ITV cancels Emmerdale and Coronation Street filming in major coronavirus shake-up https://briefnews.eu/itv-cancels-emmerdale-and-coronation-street-filming-in-major-coronavirus-shake-up/ https://briefnews.eu/itv-cancels-emmerdale-and-coronation-street-filming-in-major-coronavirus-shake-up/#respond Sun, 22 Mar 2020 19:03:11 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/itv-cancels-emmerdale-and-coronation-street-filming-in-major-coronavirus-shake-up/

ITV bosses have announced today that Emmerdale and Coronation Street will stop all filming as of March 23 in a bid to stay in line with new government guidelines to stop the spread of coronavirus. Neither of the ITV shows will return until at least the summer in the hopes of keeping all the cast and crew safe.

ITV bosses released a statement today revealing that Emmerdale and Coronation Street production had been halted until the Summer.

In a statement, an ITV spokesperson said: “ITV has sadly taken the decision to suspend production of the soaps Coronation Street and Emmerdale with effect from Monday 23 March.

“We’ve been doing our best to carry on filming, whilst adhering to the Government’s latest health guidelines, to ensure we’ve episodes of both soaps airing on ITV until at least the early summer.

“However, the health and well-being of the production teams, actors, crew and their families is of paramount importance to us and we now feel that the time has come to stop filming.

“We’d like to thank our viewers for their support and hope they continue to enjoy both soaps in the coming months.”

These aren’t the only soaps to be postponed for the time being as it was also announced this week that EastEnders had been pulled off the air by BBC bosses for the same reasons.

EastEnders official Twitter page said: “In light of the spread of Covid-19, filming on #EastEnders will be postponed until further notice…

“We have also taken the decision to reduce the amount of episodes we broadcast each week to two.”

“Episodes will now air on Mondays, 8pm and Tuesdays, 7.30pm.”

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that all UK schools, pubs and restaurants would close on Friday.

Before filming ends, Coronation Street fans might finally find out what will happen between Yasmeen Nazir (played by Shelley King) and her abusive husband Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholemew).

A source told Sun Online, that even though Yasmeen may get away from Geoff for good, she could soon have blood on her hands.

A source has revealed that Yasmeen could murder Geoff after months of emotional and physical abuse.

But, will there be enough evidence to prove that she killed him in self-defence?

And on Emmerdale, Jamie Tate (Alexander Lincoln) could lose all custody of his daughter Millie Tate (Willow Bell) for good.

In upcoming scenes, Jamie will find himself in a passionate embrace with Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) once again, but this time she could find herself pregnant.

Jamie has spent weeks threatening Andrea Tate (Anna Nightingale) that she will never get custody of Millie.

But if she finds out about Jamie and Belle, would Andrea finally take Millie away for good?

“Neighbours can also be key witnesses.  It can, however, be difficult to involve 3rd parties as they may also be concerned for their safety/relationship with the perpetrator.

“The victim can also find a lot of shame in having to approach friends/family/neighbours for this information but in my experience, those who witness this behaviour are often willing to help the victim,” she added.

Both Eileen and Cathy are friends of Yasmeen and Geoff, with the former working alongside Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine), Geoff’s son.

On several occasions, Eileen has been stumped when she heard one of Geoff’s excuses about Yasmeen.

Will she and other friends help Yasmeen get justice?

Coronation Street spoilers: Aggie Bailey hiding dark secret set to tear Weatherfield apart https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-aggie-bailey-hiding-dark-secret-set-to-tear-weatherfield-apart/ https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-aggie-bailey-hiding-dark-secret-set-to-tear-weatherfield-apart/#respond Sat, 29 Feb 2020 21:02:56 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-aggie-bailey-hiding-dark-secret-set-to-tear-weatherfield-apart/

Coronation Street viewers have watched the Baileys settle into Weatherfield as their characters continue to be explored in more detail. Viewers don’t yet know much about mum Aggie Bailey (played by Lorna Laidlaw) but could she be hiding something from her family as its spoilers suggest there could be trouble in paradise?

James Bailey (Nathan Graham) finally told his father Ed (Trevor Michale Georges) he was gay after he started dating Danny, who his father had warmed to.

Aggie and brother Michael (Ryan Russell) had known about James’s sexuality but kept it a secret until the latter was ready to reveal the truth to his father.

Now, out in the open, Ed has had a difficult time adjusting and James was left upset by his reaction.

It seems Aggie could be at the centre of some new family drama after an upcoming struggle could occur after landing a new job.

READ MORE: Coronation Street spoilers: Craig Tinker in secret health battle?

Speaking to RadioTimes.com about what lies ahead for the family, Lorna who plays Aggie revealed: “I think it’s a big one. This little family in a year have been through quite a bit. We’re in the middle of this whirlwind, there’s a lot the family has dealt with.

“I think it will take quite a lot for them to get back to where they were when they first started on Coronation Street because words have been said. Once the genie’s out of the box, it’s hard to get it back again.”

“She’s fuming, quite obviously, she’s 100 prercent on James’s side. She pulls him up on it. We’ve never seen Aggie angry, she doesn’t do that. In that moment she’s ashamed of this man,” Laidlaw added.

As Ed continues to struggle with dealing with his son’s sexuality, it seems there could be further trouble ahead.

Could Aggie decide to end her relationship with her husband after they fail to work through their difference of opinion about their son, or will she manage to make Ed see sense?

Elsewhere on the cobbles, Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) has a tough decision to make after landing a new job in London, which her mum Sarah (Tina O’Brien) urges her to accept.

Bethany was prepared to reject the offer of a lifetime as she seemingly chose to stay in Weatherfield with her new love, Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard).

However, as scenes next week show Bethany will indeed leave, will Daniel decide to go with her or will she put an end to their troubled romance?
