Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has said he wanted to be able to “draw a line in the sand” after the anti-Semitism report’s publication, but Jeremy Corbyn hindered that. Since the release of the EHRC report into the Labour Party, Mr Corbyn has been suspended pending further investigation and has had the whip removed. Speaking to BBC Breakfast, Sir Keir said: “Within the Shadow Cabinet you have responsibility, I accept that.

“We all have to accept the findings yesterday and apologise for them.

“Recognise the hurt they have caused and be absolutely detemined as I am to implement the recommendations as quickly as possible.”

BBC presenter Charlie Stayt interjected: “As Luciana Berger said very clearly, for people looking from the outside what happened to her wasn’t hidden.

“The question to anyone who was in a senior role in the Labour Party over that period of time is, why weren’t you seeing it?

“If as you say, you did call it out why did you stay metaphorically in the room?

“You were backing Jeremy Corbyn whose leadership in this report has been called so far into question in terms of legality.

“You backed him just by staying there.”

Sir Keir continued: “I called this out in the Shadow Cabinet as did a number of other people and publicly.

The EHRC concluded that the lack of training for people handling anti-Semitism complaints indirectly discriminated against Jewish members until August 2020, by which time Sir Keir Starmer was leader of the party.

Labour has committed to proper training, with the EHRC recommending it should be mandatory and fully implemented within six months.

Recommendations made by the watchdog include commissioning an independent process to handle anti-Semitism complaints.

The EHRC’s lead investigator Alasdair Henderson told a press conference that blame could not be placed on one person alone and the problem went beyond Mr Corbyn, but added that “as leader of the party, and with evidence of political interference from within his office, he does have a responsibility ultimately for those failings”.

Jeremy Clarkson has long backed the remain campaign and has seldom held back before launching an attack on anyone who dares disagree with his political ideologies. Earlier on this year the ex Top Gear branded Brexit voters “Coffin-dodging idiots”, claiming they “screwed it all up” after Jaguar Land Rover set out plans to cut 4,500 jobs from its UK workforce. However, Clarkson has become slightly more exasperated with the whole deal in recent weeks, launching his latest attack on Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn.

One of Clarkson’s latest political tweets reads: “I’ve had a really good idea. Why don’t we all just agree this Brexit business is far too complicated and pretend it never happened?”

However, it seems Clarkson is not so willing to “pretend it never happened” when it comes to Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn’s appearance in the crunch ITV debate in the run up to the General Election 2019.

The Labour leader had become the talk of Twitter after his glasses began to slip down his face during the debate.

During an interview with Express.co.uk and other members of the press about his latest Amazon Prime Video special The Grand Tour Presents: Seamen, the host quickly got political.

Earlier in the show, Dan Walker grilled SNP Westminster leader, Ian Blackford over his party’s leaflet blunder.

Liberal Democrats leader, Jo Swinson has one a court bid to stop an SNP leaflet which was ruled as falsely accusing her of acceptation £14,000 from a fracking company.

Addressing the matter, Walker asked: “With that in mind, can voters trust the SNP to tell the truth?”

However Blackford refused to give his opinion on the issue citing he was unable to as the ruling is under appeal.

Jonathan Ashworth faced a grilling from Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan today as he gave Good Morning Britain an interview. He was initially there to discuss his plans for the NHS as the current Shadow Health Secretary but talk turned to Jeremy Corbyn. 

Last night, the Labour leader took part in an interview with Andrew Neil, but it hit headlines as critics and viewers alike branded it a “disaster”. 

Reid was keen to know if Ashworth thought the chat was as bad as everyone was making out, and started by asking about Corbyn’s lack of apology for alleged anti-Semitism within the Labour Party. 

Ashworth started: “I feel a tremendous sorrow an I want to say sorry; the Labour Party has been too slow.

“In the past, Jeremy Corbyn has apologised. Look, let’s be clear, the Jewish community feels aggrieved – rightly so – and upset – rightly so.”

Morgan jumped in: “You’ve had no trouble saying you’re sorry, but your leader was asked four times.

“He was incapable of just saying, ‘I’m sorry’  what’s wrong with him?” 

Ashworth continued to defend Corbyn, explaining how he has apologised in the past, but he couldn’t comment on the circumstances behind last night’s interview as he hadn’t seen it.

Reid then put Ashworth on the spot as she played him the exact clip they were referring to. 

Morgan added: “Isn’t it pretty extraordinary that senior politicians can’t find the time to watch interviews with their own leader?”

Ashworth explained that he was in “seven different places” yesterday and the day before, saying he “doesn’t have the time”.

Reid insisted he watched it on the train on his phone as he will be answering questions all day about it. 

Morgan laughed: “It’s called multi-tasking – why should we have to suffer it if you don’t have to?”

With it, Madeley branded Mr Corbyn and his Chancellor McDonnell as Marxists and wanted to know how their anti-capitalist stance would work for the economy should they win a general election. Richard Madeley was on top form this morning as he relaxed back into his former presenting position on ITV’s magazine show This Morning. Alongside his wife Judy Finnigan, they interviewed Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn. But midway through, Madeley had a burning question. 

“Can I ask you a question? Because this is the first time we’ve met, I’ve been wanting to ask you – on the assumption I’d interview you one day – here it is!” Madeley began. 

“You don’t do many interviews if I’m honest and I’m not on as much as I was.

“But anyway, here it is, your Shadow Chancellor says in Who’s Who, that his hobby is ‘fomenting the downfall of capitalism’. 

“He spells ‘fomenting’ wrong by the way but we’ll let that pass, he spells it like the beer, exactly,” the presenter continued.

“That’s what he says, and he is to all intents and purposes, as are you, a marxist which is an anti-capitalist stance. 

“How would it work, if you did win the election, to have a chancellor in Number 11 who is dedicated to the downfall of capitalism. A Chancellor who doesn’t believe in capitalism! 

“How on earth would that work?” Madeley reiterated. 

Mr Corbyn answered: “Well I think you’ve got a Chancellor who would be very good at managing the economy. 

It comes after the Labour Party’s would-be Chancellor, John McDonnell spoke seriously about overthrowing capitalism and building a socialist society. 

Asked about his entry in the Who’s Who directory of influential people which list his passion for “generally fermenting the overthrow of capitalism”, Mr McDonnell said it was a joke about beer-making, but he agrees with the principle.

Elsewhere in the This Morning interview, Madeley asked why Mr Corbyn didn’t want a general election. 

“The thing is you see, what people watching this will be thing is ‘Jeremy Corbyn is actually frightened of an election’. 

“‘He’s frightened for two reasons, one because his person poll ratings,’ your personal poll ratings are awful. They’ve never been this bad. 

“And your party’s poll ratings are dreadful too. And if there was an election based on the poll at the moment you’d lose and the Tories would win,” Madeley slammed.

Alongside this, many viewers were left “disappointed” with Finnigan’s response when Mr Corbyn made a swipe at Mr Johnson.

Brexit has been heavily debated on Good Morning Britain by its hosts and guests ever since the referendum in 2016.

While MPs clashed over the prospect of leaving the EU on October 31 with or without a deal, it seemed as if the only way to solve the parliamentary crisis for a General Election to be called.

However Boris Johnson has now lost two votes in parliament to call for an early election as Jeremy Corbyn announced he wants to avoid an election at the moment. 

Speaking to Express.co.uk at the TV Choice Awards, Ranvir Singh and Charlotte Hawkins revealed what they think about the current crisis.

“We’re definitely heading for an election,” Ranvir predicted. “When is anybody’s guess.

“But basically all sides are back into a corner and they’re all fighting for their lives right now.”

Charlotte explained many people were “bored” of Brexit but now there’s been a huge shift in people’s interest in the topic.

She said: “I think we’ve gone through the bit where everyone was bored of Brexit.

“Now it’s getting to the stage where it’s unprecedented, uncharted waters.

“It’s actually got fascinating now because nothing like this has ever happened before.”

However the GMB host was a little more wary to predict what will happen next in UK politics.  

“You expect the unexpected,” she remarked. “You never know what’s going to happen next.”

Ranvir added: “Politics isn’t boring anymore, people used to switch off when they saw a politician on air.”

The GMB presenter than made a revelation about Brexit’s impact on the ITV show.

“Now viewing figures for all politics programmes, politics channels, everything is going up.

“For programmes like ours, what’s happening is fantastic.”

If Ranvir could interview anyone in the world of politics, the GMB host dropped a name which may come as a surprise.

Rather than put the Prime Minister in the hot seat, Ranvir opted for Dominic Cummings. 

But when she provided her explanation for wanting to grill the PM’s chief of staff, Ranvir appeared to take a swipe at the current government. 

She described him as: “The man who’s pulling all the strings at No. 10.”

Jeremy Corbyn is hatching a plot to seize power from Boris Johnson and delay Brexit, with the Labour leader writing to the Liberal Democrats, the SNP and rebel Tories to ask for their support. Kwasi Kwarteng claimed only one Conservative MP, Guto Bebb, has given support to Mr Corbyn’s plan however. ITV  Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway remarked: “He’s gaining support from all sorts of places, SNP have indicated, Plaid Cymru, other people have indicated actually.

“As I say including some of your Tory MPs, that it might be ‘no bad thing’ or the ‘worst of all’ options.”

The Tory MP for Spelthorne hit back: “I think there was one Conservative MP, and that’s up to Guto.

“He left the Government and said he’s stepping down from Parliament at the next election, and that’s up to him.

“But it was very striking to me that Jo Swinson, the newly elected leader of the Liberal Democrats, has essentially ruled out supporting Jeremy Corbyn.

“That’s up to her. I don’t know the goings-on that are happening, the conversations that are happening.

“What I do know is that the Government is focused on leaving the EU on October 31, which we fully intend to do.”

However, Tory MP Dominic Grieve recently said he was happy to speak to Mr Corbyn about ways in which they might “co-operate” to stop a no-deal Brexit.

He added: “Even for a short period a prime minister in a caretaker capacity has got to be somebody who can inspire trust – and such people do exist within the House of Commons and would be in a position to do that.

“I have to say that seeing Jeremy Corbyn’s history, it’s difficult to see how he could possibly be in a position to do such a thing.”

Mr Grieve said it would be a “very good idea” for someone who does not want the job as Prime Minister permanently to be in the caretaker role, but would not speculate on candidates.

“I would expect there are people in his own party and indeed the necessary Conservative backbenchers who would be unwilling to support him.

“It is nonsense.”

She added: “This letter is just more red lines that are about him and his position and is not a serious attempt to find the right solution and build a consensus to stop a no-deal Brexit.

“I am committed to working in a credible way with those in other parties, and none, across Parliament to stop a no-deal Brexit and will set out how that could work in my speech tomorrow.”

The Labour leader’s plans of delaying Brexit further by securing an extension to the Article 50 process were outlined in the letter to Westminster’s opposition leaders and key Tory rebels, including Mr Grieve and Sir Oliver Letwin.

On Monday the Labour Party announced its backing for another EU referendum to prevent a “damaging Tory Brexit”. Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Kevin Maguire, associate editor of the Daily Mirror, claimed another referendum would be between remaining in the EU or supporting Theresa May’s Brexit deal. The remark sparked a furious response from Andrew Pierce, who claimed the decision from Labour was a “betrayal”.

Mr Maguire said: “It will be the Brexit on offer. Do you want the Brexit on offer? Which is the real Brexit.

“Not the unicorn and the moon, the likes of him, sold you three years ago.

“With lies and illegality, because you know there’s no £350million a week for the NHS and so on. You know that now.

“It will be the truth. But, it’s still unlikely to be at this stage passed by Parliament.

“There are a lot of MPs, a sizeable minority of Labour MPs who will vote against it.”

Pierce replied: “And most Tory MPs will vote against it because it is a betrayal of what we voted for in 2016.

“We were told by David Cameron it was a once in a lifetime vote.

“The Government will support it, Labour said they would support it, and they are selling out millions of voters.”

Labour leader Mr Corbyn said he would put forward or support an amendment in favour of a public vote to stop Mrs May’s deal being “forced on the country” if his Brexit demands are not met.

Shadow Brexit secretary Sir Keir Starmer confirmed that if Mrs May’s deal got through Parliament, Labour’s policy was for it to be put to a referendum – with remaining in the EU as the alternative option.

He told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “We specifically agreed yesterday, as the Labour Party, that if the Prime Minister’s deal gets through, that deal should be subject to the lock, if you like, of a public vote in the way that Jeremy Corbyn spelt out yesterday.”

But, Labour MP John Mann warned Mr Corbyn risked being ditched by voters over the party’s “absurd” shift to support a second referendum.

He told BBC Radio 4’s Today: “Voters won’t have it. The last person to renege on their manifesto was Nick Clegg, it didn’t end very well for him on tuition fees.

“Our manifesto was unambiguous, we would accept the result of the referendum. A second referendum doesn’t do that and the voters – in very, very large numbers – will not accept that.”
