Kiev’s belligerent policies pose a “constant” security threat to Europe, Greece’s alternate foreign minister said, adding that the last thing Europe needs is another “hotspot of tension.”

“It is true that Ukraine is a constant problem for the European Security System,” George Katrougalos told the Greek Kokkino radio broadcaster when asked to comment on the recent maritime incident in the Black Sea when a group of Ukrainian ships illegally crossed into the Russian territorial waters. He added that “the last thing that we need is another hotspot of tension … at the heart [of Europe]” and vowed to raise this issue at a meeting of the EU foreign ministers.

The minister also referred to Ukraine as a “troubled and complicated” area, adding that the crisis there could be resolved only through “respect for the international law” and “belief that [all the] differences can be resolved only through dialog.” He then called for the implementation of the Minsk Agreements by saying that the accords provide all the necessary “political steps to bring the situation back to normal.”

Speaking about his country’s relations with Russia, the Greek diplomat called a recent meeting between Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and President Vladimir Putin an “absolute success,” adding that the two nations enhanced their cooperation and put their relations on a “better basis.”

It is important not to let any differences become a defining element of bilateral relations, Katrougalos said as he spoke about a brief spat in relations between Moscow and Athens this summer after Greece expelled two Russian diplomats. “Both sides agreed [to put] it behind us,” he said, adding that relations between Russia and Greece have traditionally been good and the current Greek government seeks to keep them this way.

  • The world’s largest bottler of Coke shuttered its operations in a town in southwest Mexico on Friday.
  • Coca-Cola Femsa said the shutdown was prompted by constant aggression from organized-crime groups.

Coca-Cola Femsa, the world’s largest Coke bottler, said on Friday it was indefinitely shutting down operations in Ciudad Altamirano, a town at the northern edge of Mexico’s Guerrero state, because of harassment from organized crime and a lack of response by authorities.

“The measure was taken to put first the security of more than 160 workers who work in the distribution center,” the firm said in a release. “The lack of necessary conditions to operate in an efficient and secure manner in this zone … as well as the recent unjustified aggression toward one of our workers, led the company to make this decision.”

  • Being a crab fishermen on Alaska’s Bering Sea is a very dangerous job with back-breaking labor and 20-hour work days.
  • In 2002, photographer Corey Arnold decided to give it a try. He ended up doing it for nearly a decade and brought his camera along for the many weeks at sea.
  • The Bering Sea is constantly suffering storms which make the work even more difficult and dangerous.

In 2002, photographer Corey Arnold left behind a poor economy in San Francisco and headed up to Alaska to try his luck at his longtime passion of fishing.

Arnold, who had worked summers during college on a salmon boat in Alaska, signed on to the f/v Rollo, a crabbing boat that fishes in the dangerous Bering Sea.

While working long, strenuous hours on the Rollo, Arnold often stole away with the captain’s permission to grab his camera and photograph the crew and the ship. Arnold eventually put together “Fish Work: Bering Sea,” a documentation of his seven adventurous and dicey crab seasons aboard the Rollo.

Arnold shared a selection of the photos with us here, and you can check out the rest in the book or on his website.

There are two annual crabbing seasons in the Bering Sea, King crab and Opilio crab. During each one- to two-month season, Arnold went on numerous trips crabbing. He went on one or two trips during King season, and three to five during Opilio season.

The Bering Sea, located between far east Russia and Alaska, has a unique interaction of strong currents, sea ice, and powerful weather patterns. It is one of the most dangerous places to fish in the world. Arnold calls the sea “a continuous storm.”

The 107-foot f/v Rollo is equipped to handle tumultuous seas. Average seas in the Bering Sea have around 10- to 20-foot waves, but Arnold has witnessed massive 50-foot waves and the Rollo’s captain, Eric Nyhammer, has witnessed 80-foot waves. Arnold rarely saw his captain get nervous, but when he does, the crew knows it’s time to worry.

Your dog has gone missing in an old factory filled with toxic waste and unsettling monsters, but there’s no way you;re letting your puppy pal get hurt in there. However, rushing in quickly causes some gross, but handy, mutations, and players will have to learn to deal with their never-ending array of changing powers and shifting limbs in Freaky Awesome.

Freaky Awesome tosses the player (and possibly up to four on- or offline co-op pals) into a randomly-generated factory, having them deal with an array of sickening mutants as they look for their dog. As enemies are defeated, each leaves behind a puddle of waste that players can pick up to heal themselves. However, each one of these they touch has a chance to mutate them, giving them different powers like throwing their own head to damage enemies, or creating vicious little clones of themselves.

The challenge in Freaky Awesome comes from constantly managing a surprising array of mutations and powers, learning what to do with each one as it unlocks. Players can steadily learn how they work and build up skill over time, which will help them take down the game’s colossal bosses (all of whom offer a neat power to offer the player who crawls around their oozy cast-offs). Should they die, they’ll lose all progress, but players will keep unlocked skills, items, and mutations, making it a little easier for the next run. Except the game unlocks harder enemies and locations on further runs, so things may balance themselves out no matter how good the player gets at predicting their next stomach-churning power.

Paul Ryan signaled he has become resigned to the reality that President Donald Trump will use his Twitter account to attack other members of the Republican Party.

“It’s what he does,” Ryan told MSNBC’s Kasie Hunt in a preview clip of an interview set to air on Sunday. “We’ve kind of learned to live with it,” Ryan said.

Trump lately has targeted Sen. Bob Corker of Tennessee, the Republican lawmaker who has criticized Trump for publicly undermining his own secretary of state, Rex Tillerson. The president did not appreciate Corker’s critique, later tweeting that Corker, who had already announced he would not seek reelection in 2018, had “begged” for his endorsement.

Corker responded, tweeting that it was a “shame the White House has become an adult day care center,” and suggesting that someone had “missed their shift” that morning. In an interview with The New York Times, Corker said Trump’s antics were putting the US “on the path to World War III.“

Corker continued to admonish Trump on Friday, telling The Washington Post’s Jack Diehl, You cannot publicly castrate your own secretary of state without giving yourself that binary choice.” Corker said that “binary choice” could force the US to choose between war or living with a nuclear North Korea or Iran in the absence of an effective secretary of state who can make inroads on those fronts.

Tillerson last week attempted to allay growing suspicions that a rift was developing between himself and the president after revelations had surfaced that he called Trump a “moron” during a meeting with national-security personnel.

Trump has previously attacked Ryan, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, John McCain, and many other members of his own party.

Repeated threats made by the US and directed against North Korea have only worsened the crisis on the Korean Peninsula, as they prompt Pyongyang to further develop its weapons, whistleblower Julian Assange said.

“Constant US threats” have put the North “on a total war footing,” the WikiLeaks founder, who remains holed up in the Ecuador Embassy in London, said in a Twitter post, adding that such a situation gives a “massive boost” to its missile research and development activities, as well as rallying support for the leadership in Pyongyang.

He went on to say that threats would not work for the “industrious, intelligent and conformist” Koreans.

Later, Assange also criticized the US military drills in the region as well as the deployment of the THAAD missile defense systems in South Korea in the context of US relations with China.

“The US posturing on China’s border through the DPRK proxy Cold War” would have the same effect on China as the US threats had on North Korea, he said, adding that it would only contribute to the “massive increase” in Beijing’s military research and development activities.

Tensions on the Korean Peninsula have been running high over the past few months. On Sunday, North Korean state media reported that Pyongyang had successfully tested a hydrogen bomb which can be mounted on an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM).

The test provoked a wave of outrage within the international community as many world leaders strongly condemned the actions of the North. Russian President Vladimir Putin “called on the international community not to give in to emotions and to take a reasonable and balanced approach,” according to his spokesman, Dmitry Peskov. He added that the sanctions imposed on North Korea so far had not worked.

Putin discussed the issue with Chinese leader Xi Jinping and they stressed the “importance for all sides to show restraint and focus on seeking resolution [of the crisis] solely in a political and diplomatic way.”

US President Donald Trump branded the North a “rogue nation and a threat,” adding that South Korea should understand that “talk of appeasement” with its neighbor “won’t work.”

He also said that the US was considering stopping “all trade with any country doing business with North Korea” as one of the responses to North Korea’s latest test.

US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis later warned that any attack on the United States or its allies would be met with a “massive military response.” He said that the US was not “looking to the total annihilation” of North Korea, but had “many options to do so.”
