The further back you go with James Bond movies, the more uncomfortable scenes can be when it comes to the spy’s sexual exploits. Now the Family Planning Association is highlighting its “Consent: Yes, yes, yes!” campaign for Sexual Health Awareness week this September. According to The Sun, the FPA have discovered a number of occasions when Bond sexually assaulted women in the films, without being brought to justice. To encourage the depiction of consent before sexual activity on screen, the charity are publishing guidance for production companies. A scene from Goldfinger where Connery’s Bond forces himself on Pussy Galore saw his incarnation dubbed as a “rapist”. But it looks like the depiction of 007’s sex life is changing for the better, as Daniel Craig earlier this year said he wants Bond to move away from being a womaniser. The 50-year-old spoke with PEOPLE at the Opportunity Network’s annual gala in New York City back in April. Craig said: “I’ve been trying to do that gently for the past four movies and I’ll continue to do that.” He added: “We’re right in the middle of doing it.” And before exiting Bond 25 as director, Danny Boyle revealed he had been working on a more progressive handling of the Bond girls. Speaking with Page Six in March, the Oscar winner said: “You write in real time. “You acknowledge the legacy of the world [of Bond] and you write in the world — but you also write in the modern world as well.” George Galloway says that both the alleged gas attack in Syria and subsequent US-led missile strikes this week were a “deliberate fabrication” meant to distract from a number of domestic scandals in the coalition member-states. Galloway, a former MP-turned-broadcaster, spoke to RT.com about the latest US-led strikes in Syria, the pretext behind them and the potential consequences for both the Syrian people and the international community. Like many political commentators, Galloway questions both the timing and the authenticity of the reports on a gas attack in Douma outside of Damascus earlier this week. “I believe that the entire Douma chemical weapons attack story is a deliberate fabrication… if Britain was involved in that fabrication I would be shocked but not surprised,” Galloway said. “It stands to reason that you can’t risk, even if the risk is small, the OPCW behaving with professional integrity and saying that there is no evidence of such a chemical weapons attack and certainly not one by the Syrian regime.” “You can’t risk that so you have to, in Noam Chomsky’s words, ‘manufacture consent,’ for an attack and then launch the attack before that manufactured consent begins to dwindle away.” Galloway also maintains that, in launching missile strikes against the Syrian government without sufficient international backing, let alone UN Security Council (UNSC) approval, President Donald Trump emulated the former US Commander-in-Chief Bill Clinton by using military action abroad to distract attention away from an embarrassing and widely publicized sex scandal at home. “I believe that Trump did it, just like Bill Clinton… Clinton launched cruise missiles against Sudan and Iraq… In Clinton’s case it was Monica Lewinsky, in Trump’s case it’s… Stormy Daniels. And, of course, many other problems also beset Trump so he tried to bounce free from those travails in the time-honored way of killing foreigners and destroying their country.” Trump, however, was not alone in taking unilateral action in Syria without the support of his government or his people; Theresa May and Emmanuel Macron both eagerly followed suit. In May’s case, Galloway maintains she took the decision “because she was afraid that she would lose in the parliament.” Regarding the conspicuous timing of both the alleged chemical weapons attack and then the subsequent US-led strikes that happened on the day that investigators from the OPCW were due to inspect the Douma site, Galloway believes that the bombings were a cynical attempt to undermine the probe. “It’s much harder now for the OPCW to report a negative because they will then be exposing Britain, France and the United States, three members of the security council [as having] launched a war on an entirely false pretext. We must hope that the OPCW behaves with professional integrity and we’ll soon see if they do.” Galloway, like many other political commentators, also drew comparisons with the Iraq war, which was, rather ominously, based on an entirely fabricated pretext regarding alleged stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction. He also highlighted the fact that military personnel from a number of P5 member states are operating in close proximity to each other, raising the stakes of the unauthorized intervention even higher. “It is as illegal as the US-UK attack on Iraq and, of course, made even more dangerous by the presence in the country they’re attacking of very large numbers of personnel from security council country, namely, Russia.” Galloway also scoffed at the French Foreign Minister’s suggestion that now was the time for diplomacy. “Ha! Now it’s time. After you’ve launched a war… but it can’t be diplomacy which seeks to give the alphabet soup of Islamist fundamentalists [a seat] at the negotiating table which they couldn’t win and hold on the battlefield. If it is diplomacy that is designed to find a way out of this war, that would be a good thing. If it was diplomacy that, for example, sought partition of Syria and dismembered it, that would be entirely unacceptable.” Finally, the outspoken former MP took aim at Donald Trump’s remarks that it was a case of “mission accomplished” in Syria following the coalition strikes. “If the mission was to destroy universities, people’s homes and kill some people then that was accomplished but that wouldn’t be much of a mission. If the mission was to weaken Syria and its alliances I would have thought that was an epic failure. Apart from anything else, to borrow the slogan of George W. Bush at the end of the Iraq War: ‘War is, by any standards, a public relations disaster.’ I remind you that 95 percent of all the casualties in Iraq died after George Bush declared that the mission was accomplished.” If you like this story, share it with a friend!

If you’ve been using the Facebook app on Android for quite some time, it’s possible that the social network has records of every call and text you made these past years — though it’s not as bad as it sounds. It was software developer Dylan McKay who first discovered that Facebook scraped his call logs and text metadata when he downloaded a copy of his account data under General in Settings. Ars Technica was able to confirm his report, finding similar info in his account after downloading the same document. With the Cambridge Analytica fiasco going on, the last thing Facebook needs is another issue related to data privacy. It doesn’t seem like the company collected users’ call and text logs on purpose, though: its app only got access to those info due to Android’s permission structure, and then only with your consent.

According to Ars, if you gave Facebook permission to read your contacts before Android Jelly Bean dropped, you also inadvertently gave it access to your calls and texts by default. The app was able to collect data until Google deprecated Android API version 4.0 in October 2017. So, yes, the issue has been fixed — and it never affected iOS users — it’s just unclear if you can purge call and text logs from your account. Since you can’t turn back time and prevent yourself from welcoming Facebook into your phone’s contacts section, best you can do is delete your contacts’ data and hope for the best.
In a response to the discovery, Facebook stressed that this call and text history logging was an “opt-in” feature for Facebook Lite or Messenger, and that you had to expressly agree to it. It added that turning it off in the relevant app’s settings would delete that info. Facebook never sells this data, the company said, and it never collects the actual content of your conversations. Really, this isn’t so much a shocking revelation as a reminder that many people have explicitly granted permission to Facebook and its apps without realizing what data they were offering up in the process.

Princess Eugenie, 27, will marry Jack Brooksbanks, 31, on Friday October 12 2018, but will she require a letter of consent from the Queen beforehand?
Meghan Markle, 36, and Prince Harry, 33, received a formal letter of consent – also known as the Declaration of Consent – from the Queen last week on March 14.
Kate Middleton, 36, and Prince William, 35, received an identically worded letter from the Queen ahead of their wedding in 2011.
However, it is believed Princess Eugenie, who is the daughter of Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and a granddaughter of the Queen, will not be required to receive such a letter before she marries her fiancé Jack.
This is because of a royal law, known as the Succession to the Crown Act 2013, which requires the first six people in line to the British throne to receive formal consent to marry.
If they fail to receive this consent, and still marry, it means the couple and subsequent heirs lose their right to the throne.
Princess Eugenie is eighth in line to the British throne, and this will go down to ninth in line once Kate Middleton has her third child.
This means she is not included under the restrictions of the act, and is therefore free to marry without the formal consent from the Queen.
However, this was not always the case. The Royal Marriages Act 1772, which was in recent years replaced by the more modern rule, meant all descendants of King George II required consent from the sovereign to marry.
The only exception was when royal princesses married into foreign families.
It is believed this is the law that caused problems during the Princess Margaret and Peter Townsend romance.
Princess Margaret was ultimately not given royal consent to marry her fiancee Peter, and the pair broke off their engagement as a result.
Princess Eugenie’s Instagram account, established earlier this month, broke a royal precedent which means the family do not have social media.
The granddaughter of the Queen signed up to the platform, and the newly engaged royal already has 18,700 followers on the social media platform.
Can we expect to see selfies and pictures of family life from behind the scenes at York family gatherings? The royal claims to have set up the account for one special reason.
She has uploaded images of her with her fiance Jack Brooksbank, showing the pair of them gazing at her engagement ring.

Monica Lewinsky, whose name saturated the American media 20 years ago when her sexual relationship with former President Bill Clinton became public, wrote in a new essay for Vanity Fair, saying the #MeToo movement has made reconsider her affair with Clinton.
“I now see how problematic it was that the two of us even got to a place where there was a question of consent,” Lewinsky wrote. “Instead, the road that led there was littered with inappropriate abuse of authority, station, and privilege. (Full stop).”See the rest of the story at Business Insider

A Dutch startup is launching an app that will allow people to give legal consent to sex via their mobile in an initiative spurred by Sweden’s plans to bolster its rape law.
]]>Subscribe to cable service for long enough and you’ll probably run into lousy customer service at some point, whether it’s technicians who don’t show up on time or phone reps that won’t let you cancel. However, Comcast’s behavior in Washington might take the cake. The state’s Attorney General has filed an amended complaint alleging that Comcast subscribed more than half of its Service Protection Plan customers without consent since the option was first available in 2011. It frequently enrolled customers without even mentioning the plan, according to the lawsuit, but the worst was when it did — employees reportedly claimed the $ 6 monthly service was free, and would even sign people up after they’d explicitly refused it.
To make matters worse, the Attorney General’s office added that the plan in question did… well, nothing. It was supposed to reduce the cost of repairs, but it excluded in-wall wiring and outdoor wiring — you know, a large portion of the service. As the Attorney General explained, all it really did was cover the technician coming to tell you that your equipment was broken.
Comcast denied doing anything wrong in a statement to Ars Technica, and said that it “strongly disagree[s]” with the Washington AG’s assertions. It maintained that the plan covered “virtually all charges over 99 percent of the time,” and that the lawsuit is based on a “flawed methodology and assumptions.”
However, the company hasn’t exactly gone to great lengths to provide evidence. The Attorney General’s Office said that Comcast has repeatedly refused to provide call recordings, and later admitted that it had deleted 90 percent of calls after it had been told to preserve them. Washington’s lawsuit is based in part on samples that supported accusations of deceptive practices.
Whoever’s telling the truth, this practice wouldn’t come out of the blue. Telecoms are notorious for including below-the-line fees that mask the true cost of service. However, it’s rare that they’re so audacious in those attempts that they charge you for services you didn’t want. If the lawsuit is successful, it could serve as a warning shot that deters other telcos.

Welcome toThird Rail With OZY, our electrifying TV show where we debate provocative hot topics each week. Last week, we asked: When does a big age gap in a relationship become abuse? You answered, and here are your thoughts, edited for clarity.
As long as no one involved is a minor, someone’s lack of experience and maturity relative to their partner doesn’t nullify their consent. People the same age get in bad relationships all the time due to a lack of maturity.
Is it really so hard to not screw teenagers? Just don’t do it.
A difficult topic. When I think about my great-grandparents, if they were alive today, my great-grandfather would be in trouble with the law. Yet my parents, me and my children all exist because of their beautiful union. He was well into his 20s, and she lied about her age to get married in Indiana. They were a beautiful couple.
The explosion of sexual assault charges against prominent men just keeps escalating, so it would appear that we need a new dialogue that defines sexual assault for both men and women. The query about whether a 16-year-old has the capacity to make an informed decision about whom to engage with sexually seems to be pointed at only females. What about 16-year-old males? Respectfully, I believe that sexual activity should begin initially between two individuals with the same skill set. In other words, fully aged adult men or women should not be engaging in sex with virgins of either gender.
When it’s statutory, a reasonable age of consent is 18, that’s the legal standard for most other things. By 18, the majority of people have matured sufficiently to have a sense of responsibility as to all who is involved with a serious (sexual) relationship. Yes, it is arbitrary because there will always be those less or more mature as to their decision-making. Another rule of thumb: If they’re still in high school or are of high school age, hands off!
When I was 17, I had a 30-year-old boyfriend. And I have dated [people] even up to 18 years older than me and wasn’t abused. So there.
If an 18-year-old came and asked for my 14-year-old, I say, “No!” If a 21-year-old comes asking, I say, “Hell, no!” If a 31-year-old comes calling … they better move rapidly in a zigzag fashion away from the door while exiting the kill zone.
Teenagers should be studying and playing video games and annoying their parents, not having sex!
Thirty- or 40-year-olds who go after girls not even in their 20s are most likely deemed undatable by their peers. Not being a prude, I just think some people need to work on themselves instead of using the trial-and-error method until they finally land a naive child.
I’ve been happily, lovingly married to someone 28 years older than me since I was 25. However, I was always an old soul [who] got along with adults better than kids since elementary school, and while my partner is a mature, responsible adult when she needs to be, she’s also the world’s oldest 2-year-old when she wants to be. Age, once you are of mature mental and physical age, is just a number.
I’d argue the most important thing is the stage of life that people are in. For example, if a 19-year-old has moved out, has a job and has been living on her own for a year, she is probably as mature as a 25-year-old man who is in the same stage of life. Conversely, a 23-year-old man who doesn’t have a job and is still living with his parents wouldn’t be nearly as mature as the 19-year-old. The genders of the people involved aren’t important here either.
So I’m supposed to trust an 18-[year-old] with the protection of the country and political affairs, but they can’t make a decision about their body and sexuality? But they’re still fully allowed to make medical decisions …
I’m 63 and date men half my age. I hope men in their 30s are fully grown adults by then.

If you’re suspected of a crime police can, if they have a warrant, request access to your DNA profile from both the Ancestry and 23andMe websites. The latter has received five requests for customer information from law enforcement, although the company says it didn’t comply with any of these requests.
“As the 5 requests resulting in zero information provided indicates, we resist all of these requests. For perspective, 5 requests with over 3 million customers is 0.0002% worth of requests in 11 years. That’s less than rare,” 23andMe spokesman Andy Kill told RT.com.

Though the company hasn’t ruled out providing information to authorities in the future. “We would always review a request and take it on a case-by-case basis,” privacy officer Kate Black told told WJAX on Thursday.
Ancestry.com, however, has complied with such requests. Of the nine made by authorities for customer info in 2016, the company provided information in eight of the cases, according to the company’s transparency report.
However, the company stressed to RT.com that these requests were not related to DNA profiles rather “they were all with regards to things like account data that could be useful in credit card fraud investigations.”
It’s not just your DNA cops can request. Even if you haven’t given into the temptation of trying to pinpoint your long lost ancestors, your relatives could also get you in trouble, as was the case for Michael Usry Jr.
Usry Jr was a prime suspect in the cold case murder of 18-year-old, Angie Dodge. The Idaho Falls police got a warrant to use Ancestry’s database to solve the crime. It found Ursy Sr’s DNA, which closely matched DNA at the crime scene. Police then got a warrant for Ursy’s own DNA. In 2017, he was cleared of any involvement in the murder, however.
Ancestry explained it does not “share any information with law enforcement unless compelled to by valid legal process, such as a court order or search warrant.” It said in Ursy’s case the DNA was part of a “database we purchased that was an open and publicly available research resource at the time we bought it. After this case, we made the database private to help protect the privacy of our customers.”
The bill, if adopted, will set a benchmark in French law on sexual violence, as it will for the first time define the age limit under which any sexual intercourse with a minor is legally considered rape.
“The question of the age below which the minor’s consent is presumed not to exist is crucial, because there are obviously extremely shocking and unacceptable situations,” French Justice Minister Nicole Belloubet said, as cited by RTL radio.
Regarding the age of consent, Belloubet said that the age of 13 “is worth considering,” while noting that the final decision in each case should lie within the discretion of the judges.
Marlene Schiappa, a junior minister for gender equality, argues that it should lie somewhere between 13 and 15 years.
“Below a certain age, it is considered that there can be no debate on the sexual consent of a child, and that any child below a certain age would automatically be considered to be raped or sexually assaulted,” Schiappa told BMF TV.
The need to amend the law was brought to light by the jury verdict in the case of a 30-year-old man who, back in 2009, allegedly lured an 11-year-old girl into a sexual relationship. Last week, the man, a Cape Verdean native, was tried by a jury court and acquitted after prosecutors, who were seeking eight years in jail for the defendant, failed to prove that the sex was non-consensual.

Under current French law, there is no legal limit to the age of consent, and only sexual acts committed with the use of “violence, coercion, threat or surprise” are considered to be rape.
Following the encounter, the girl, who is of Congolese descent, became pregnant and subsequently gave birth to a baby which her family decided to place in foster care out of fear of being condemned in the community. The family took the case to court, but only years later.
It is the second case in less than two months that came under the media spotlight for what is viewed by some as a verdict too lenient for a suspect accused of sexually assaulting a minor. In late September, an 11-year-old girl reportedly followed a 28-year-old man into his flat north of Paris, where they repeatedly engaged in sexual acts. The girl’s mother said that her daughter was devastated by what happened to her, but was unable to put up any resistance as she was numb from shock.
Despite her mother’s claims that the 11-year-old was unable to defend herself, the prosecutors dropped the charges of rape and charged the perpetrator with sexual assault of a minor below the age of 15 instead, brushing off the girl’s legal team’s arguments that she was unable to surmise what was going on.
The French Criminal Code envisages a punishment of up to five years of incarceration for sexual offenses. For rape, offenders face a much harsher penalty of 15 years behind bars if the victim is 15 or older, and up to 20 years if the victim is a minor under 15.
