Two IDF soldiers have been charged with assault after brutally beating a fellow Druze serviceman until he was rendered unconscious. Relatives are accusing an IDF commander of deliberately delaying the request for medical help.

Israel’s Military Prosecutor’s Office on Tuesday charged the two Israel Defense Forces (IDF) servicemen with aggravated assault and causing serious injury in aggravated circumstances. They are accused of beating the Druze soldier in two separate instances while stationed together in northern Israel.

According to a statement released by the victim’s family, the Druze soldier was at first “savagely kicked and punched” for refusing to vacate his own dorm. He was assaulted again the next day, leaving the soldier unconscious with a broken nose, “bleeding and humiliated on the ground.” Soldiers and officers nearby came to his aid and stopped the attack, the statement said.

The IDF Military Police arrested the two soldiers shortly after the attack. Israel’s Military Northern District Court has requested that the pair charged with the assaults remain in custody until the judicial proceedings against them are concluded.

“The IDF will not accept the violent acts towards soldiers and will continue to act, using the tools at its disposal in order to prevent a recurrence of similar incidents and in order hold anyone accountable who acted violently and against the law,” the Military Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.

According to family members, the victim’s base commander initially denied the Druze soldier’s request for a military vehicle to take him to a hospital. Only hours later did the commander allow him to be taken into emergency care, it was reported. Despite a doctor’s recommendation that he go home to rest and heal from his injuries, the soldier was ordered to return to his base, the statement, released on Facebook, said.

Speaking with Israel’s Ynet, the victim’s grandfather described the assault as attempted murder and said the IDF should be held accountable. “Look at the pictures. They speak for themselves. I wouldn’t say these were blows. I would say this was an attempted murder,” he said. “Everyone on the base responsible needs to be held to account. It doesn’t matter whether he was a Druze soldier, a Muslim soldier or a Jewish soldier. He is a soldier in the IDF.”

The Druze practice a branch of Shia Islam known as Ismailism. As a religious minority, the Druze have faced discrimination and violence in Israel. In 2015, a Druze IDF soldier was beaten at a nightclub – reportedly for “speaking Arabic.” A similar incident occurred the same year, when a Druze university student and former IDF soldier was beaten for speaking Arabic near Jerusalem’s Central Bus Station.

The assault comes a month after the IDF mulled crossing into Syrian territory to “protect” a Druze village.

The new Final Fantasy 15 Comrades mode is being launched on August 3 and will run until August 8.

The multiplayer expansion’s first phase of rollout is now complete on PS4 and Xbox One, with the beta test now available to download.

The new Final Fantasy 15 multiplayer expansion needs a lot of room, requiring around 12.8gb on PS4, and 13.86gb on Xbox One.

The game has yet to launch on PC and has yet to be announced as a ongoing project being handled by Square Enix.

The new Comrades expansion will be carried out simultaneously across all regions worldwide, allowing players to create their own custom avatars and join together with up to 3 others to participate in multiplayer quests.

Eligibility requirements, via Square Enix: 

  • Requires a purchase of Season Pass and a subscription to PlayStation®Plus or an Xbox Live Gold membership
  • The closed online test is only available from Thursday 3rd to Tuesday 8th August 2017 (This schedule is subject to change)
  • The content of the test version will be different to the final product. It will not be possible to carry data over from the test to the final version

The studio have also provided a rundown of what kind of features and content will be available during the PS4 and Xbox One beta test.

Playable Characters: Create, control, and save up to eight avatars.

  • “Develop avatars using experience gained from defeating enemies and completing quests. Updates will allow you to also play as Noctis, Gladiolus, Prompto, and Ignis.”

Avatars: Customize avatars with elements limited to the test version.

  • “Unlock customization elements with item purchases at outposts and quest rewards. Updates will add even more elements.”

Outposts: Begin at test version base camp and play through a custom tutorial.

  • “Experience a city with much more than the test version base camp.”

Weapons: Choose from katana, club, dagger, and shuriken weapons. 

  • “Attack patterns vary from those of Noctis. Enjoy an expanded arsenal featuring polearm, crossbow, and shield weapons as well, which also feature different attack patterns. Weapons come with preset abilities and experience points, and can be leveled up by meeting certain conditions.”

Royal Sigils: Invoke the powers of sovereigns for your avatar with this new feature. 

  • “Equip one of four default royal sigils in the test version. Collect and equip royal sigils as you progress. The wide array of enhancements provided by the royal sigils will play a key role in cooperative multiplayer combat.”

Quests: Choose from one of three quests, with up to three legs to each quest. 

  • “All players will be matched online in the test version. Explore quests with storylines as well as singleplayer quests. Join up to three other players online with a subscription to PlayStation Plus or an Xbox Live Gold membership, or fight alongside three AI companions.

Meals: Retrieve one ingredient per person per quest, and have the camp cook prepare a meal afterward.

  • “Encounter more cooks and enjoy a wider range of meal-based boosts.

Meteorshards: Receive meteorshards as quest rewards. Meteorshards cannot be used in the test version.

  • “Gather meteorshards during quests to expand the scope of available activities or to unlock new quests.”

Added Features: Interact with other players using preset chat messages. Also supports voice chat.

  • “Enjoy these additional features that include making Camps for Meetups with Friends, Expand/Customize Preset Chat Messages, Receive Quest Report Cards, Take New Photographs.”
