There we go: Apple has tweaked the design of the battery percentage icon in iOS 16.1 beta 2. It now shows the proper charge level
pic.twitter.com/15tvFUCaPx
— Federico Viticci (@viticci) September 20, 2022
Thankfully, Apple is working on an improved version of the icon. Earlier today, the company released the second iOS 16.1 beta (via MacRumors). Among other things, the update introduces a tweak to the battery percentage indicator. Now, instead of the icon only turning red when your iPhone’s battery dips below 20 percent charge, it will also gradually deplete as the battery does. It’s a small change, but one that improves usability.
Beta two also includes a tweak to the lock screen. When you plug your phone to charge, a battery percentage indicator will briefly appear above the time, bringing back a feature from iOS 15. On the iPhone 14 Pro, you’ll also see one appear within the Dynamic Island. The next version of iOS 16 does not have a release date yet. We’ll also note here that Apple could further tweak some of the changes found in beta two.

Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt are usually seen crossing over to the Saturday Kitchen studio to find out what is coming up from Matt Tebbutt and his guest chefs. Last weekend, however, the BBC Breakfast presenters were not in the BBC studio but instead the celebrity guests on the popular cooking show. Throughout the morning, they were seen discussing their day jobs, tasting the food and having a good time. But those watching at home were less than impressed by their behaviour and branded the pair “rude” and “disruptive”, so much so, 100 official complaints were made to the broadcaster.
While Matt was hosting the show and cooking the majority of dishes, Yotam Ottolenghi was the guest chef.
Naga and Charlie were seen sitting at the round table, sampling the dishes and chatting with the presenter, but several of their comments infuriated those watching at home.
While many fumed on Twitter, it has been revealed 100 people complained to the BBC directly and a statement from the broadcaster in response read: “Saturday Kitchen Live’s format allows for an informal chatty style and the guests are encouraged to feel relaxed in the studio…
“Some viewers found the behaviour and comments of the guests this week to be inappropriate and that they were rude to presenter Matt.
“We appreciate the feedback and we shared it with the Saturday Kitchen team.”

During one moment of the show, Matt asked: “You’ve had a tough year right?” To which Naga replied: “Everyone’s had a tough year.”
“Everyone’s had a tough year, but to read for three to four hours a day that news – it’s pretty hard going,” he continued.
Charlie said: “You’ve really brought the tone down, haven’t you? I thought you were going to ask ‘what’s it like getting up in the morning?’ but you’ve gone -”
And Naga then interrupted: “For everyone who wants to turn off the news and might want a bit of relaxation, don’t tune into Saturday Kitchen, it’s not worth it! Yotam’s going to take over and then it’s going to be loads better.”
Another time, Naga turned to Matt and asked: “What does your food like? Chaotic?”
“It’s what’s inside my head,” he defended and she reiterated: “Chaotic.”
When Matt was in the kitchen, Yotam who was sitting on the side commented: “Do you think feta would be quite nice?” In terms of changing the main cheese ingredient.
“That wouldn’t work,” Matt joked and then added: “No, of course, it would!”
Charlie then hollered: “Shall we have a poll as to who we think has got the right call on that one?”
And Naga said: “This just proves my point, Yotam should be doing all of them. He’s got all the better ideas.”
“It’s no wonder Matt’s a bit anxious with you two in the room, it’s a bit intimating. If it was a real chef in here and I had to cook I would be intimated,” Yotam continued.
“Do you always have such glee when it happens?” Charlie asked Matt and he replied: “Totally, I revel in misery.”
He then got on with preparing the dish and Naga remarked: “I’m in shock.”
“Why?” Matt said. “After you were mean to the host of the nation’s favourite cookery show!”
“We weren’t mean!” She hit back. “I’m not disputing it’s the nation’s favourite cookery show, we were just having a laugh.”
But viewers didn’t see it that way. Tweets that day read: “Can someone tell Naga and Charlie they’re not presenting? Constant interruptions. I think Matt deserves a medal for the way he is handling their rudeness.”
“Should have put Superglue Sandwich on on the #saturdaykitchen menu….for Naga and Charlie gobs… Charlie and Naga deserved to get food hell,” another tweet read.
Someone else chimed: “Well done Matt!… Good, Charlie and Naga were absolutely awful, I’m surprised it wasn’t 100%. Obnoxious, rude, self-obsessed. Matt and Yotam working hard to keep it together with those two children in the studio.”
One, however, disagreed: “Can’t help but laugh at the Twitter rage on #SaturdayKitchen at Naga & Charlie. I think @matt_tebbutt has handled the banter with bashful good grace.”
And someone else said: “I think the teasing that Matt usually courts is what makes the show fresh and entertaining… Best TV I’ve seen in ages. Laughed so much. Well done Naga and Charlie. Don’t listen to the negative comments. X.”
Saturday Kitchen airs Saturday mornings at 9.30 on BBC One.
The 2021 series of Dancing on Ice is currently being ‘paused’ after weeks of disruption from Covid and celebrity contestants and/or their professional ice-skating partners getting injured. Last weekend, ITV viewers tuned in to see six couples perform live before the judges and viewers votes were combined and a skate-off between Lady Leshurr and Amy Tinker occurred. Before the elimination results were revealed, Rita Ora performed her new single Bang Bang, but her appearance on the show prompted some viewers to complain to the broadcasting regulator, Ofcom.
It comes after some questioned the appropriateness of the singer appearing on the programme in light of her breaking lockdown rules.
Ofcom has confirmed 78 official complaints were lodged, while many took to social media to voice their anger.
One said: “@dancingonice and @RitaOra She should not have been allowed on bad choice she has broken the rules so many times and doesn’t care.”
“@dancingonice and @RitaOra Bad taste having Rita Ora in the show, she broke Covid rules in a Spectacular Way,” someone else chimed.

As for the drama Dancing on Ice 2021 has experienced, it began with professional ice-skater Yebin Mok sustaining a freak accident during training the week before her and Graham Bell’s debut performance.
Denise Van Outen was then forced to pull out after she injured her shoulder in rehearsals and Amy Tinkler joined the line-up to replace her.
Rufus Hound then tested positive for Covid and therefore, had to withdraw, with Matt Richardson called in to replace him.
Billie Shepherd was also forced to quit the competition after hitting her head and suffering mild concussion.
Joe-Warren Plant also tested positive for Covid just last week and he and partner Vanessa Bauer left the show.
ITV then explained how Jason Donovan wasn’t going to skate in week five after an injury and Faye Brookes partner Hamish Gaman suffered a finger injury which means Matt Evers will perform with the Coronation Street star going forward.
Because of all this, ITV decided they have a week’s break with no live show on Sunday.
“Each week our production team and cast have delivered a fantastic show during incredibly challenging times,” a spokesperson said.
Titled The Nativity, the BBC‘s festive special of The Goes Wrong Show aired at primetime back on December 22 at 7pm. The half-hour Christmas play saw a handful of amateur performers take to the stage to deliver a take on the classic nativity associated with Christmas Day. However, it’s safe to say the tone of the episode didn’t sit well with all viewers, with some branding it an “insult” and “unacceptable” to Christianity.
The BBC’s synopsis for the episode reads: “The Goes Wrong Show team present their take on the nativity story, generously funded by a corporate sponsor after the BBC refused to pay for any more of the Cornley Dramatic Society’s work.
“As ever, all soon descends into chaos: an ingenious pop-up book set soon proves a physical danger to both cast and crew, the angel Gabriel develops a firework obsession, the actors inside a donkey have a terrible falling out that results in unnecessary nudity, and there is much more fire than anyone anticipated. In between, the greatest story ever told is told.”
The Goes Wrong Show Christmas special starred the likes Henry Shields, Charlie Russell and Henry Lewis hoping to provide the laughs.
But the episode had the opposite desired effect with some, with several BBC viewers venting their outrage online.

Taking to Twitter, one disgruntled viewer said: “#bbc what a disgrace I have just watched BBC TV The Goes Wrong Show
“Series 2: 1. The Nativity I am a Christian and found the show totally unacceptable.”
And they weren’t alone as a second echoed: “The Goes Wrong Show: The Nativity @bbc canned laughter, not funny, so offensive to millions of Christians across London.”
“The Goes Wrong Show tonight in BBC 1 – appalling and an insult to the Christian religion,” weighed in a third.
“However, we are always very conscious of how jokes might resonate with those with direct experience of the subjects we cover, and we never set out to mock or undermine their beliefs and experiences.”
Despite some of the criticism from viewers, there was still a number who enjoyed the festive tongue-in-cheek comedy.
One viewer added to the debate: “Have just caught up with the #GoesWrongShow nativity.. absolutely brilliant!! Can’t wait until we can see the amazing @mischiefcomedy live again!”
“#GoesWrongShow nativity was absolutely brilliant. Thank you @mischiefcomedy. Whole family in fits of laughter,” added a second.
“And he’s like, ‘No problem,’so he signed it to Vernon, good luck with the new gig, Tom Hanks.”
Vernon then revealed he met the actor again on a press junket on Eurostar for The Da Vinci Code.
He recalled: “I’ll never forget it, I I can see it now, Tom Hanks saw me and he just turned to Ron Howard (the film’s director) and he went ‘Oh this is Vern, he’s alright he is.’
“I’m like, ‘He remembered my name!’ and he just turned around and said ‘Vern, oh he’s a good guy!'”
One viewer complained: “How many more celebs is Vernon going to make drop in the next three weeks? Bit bored of that already” [sic].
Another remarked: “Dang Vernon dropping names like no tomorrow. Wonder who he’ll drop next after Hanks, DiCaprio? DeNiro?”

During Monday’s episode of This Morning, Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield spoke to travel editor Simon Calder for advice on where viewers could go in the UK for a short break. With half-term just a few weeks away, the pair wanted to help families find somewhere safe and affordable to enjoy a break.
However, as Simon suggested areas in the middle of Wales, viewers complained it was “unacceptable” of him to suggest they head to a country where there are local lockdowns.
While the south and north of Wales are under local lockdowns, Simon said Machynlleth in Powys and Aberystwyth in Ceredigion were both regions to consider visiting.
He added Wales was an “easy” option for a UK holiday which was the final straw for many viewers watching at home.
Taking to Twitter to comment, one fan complained: “Shame that most people living in Wales aren’t allowed to visit these lovely places- might be a good reason for this though. Just a thought…”

This Morning isn’t the only ITV show to be hit with Ofcom complaints.
Britain’s Got Talent’s latest episode, the last of the semi-finals, received 1,000 complaints regarding Nabil Abdulrashid’s comedy set and Amanda Holden’s racy gown.
Nabil, 35, entertained many viewers with his stand-up routine but some took offence as he mocked racists.
Amanda meanwhile angered BGT fans as she opted for a flowing navy gown with a thigh-high split and lacy corset.
In previous weeks, Britain’s Got Talent received over 28,000 Ofcom complaints following Diversity’s Black Lives Matter-inspired routine.
The pair referenced the recent death of George Floyd in the US with the powerful performance and received support from ITV regarding the routine.
Judge Alesha Dixon attracted another 1,900 when she showed her support for Diversity by wearing a BLM necklace the following week.
This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am.
The move has provoked many stars coming out in support, including Piers Morgan, who told viewers in a debate on GMB last week: “I think if you’re genuinely offended by what you saw on that show, there’s something wrong with you [general public].”
Judge Ashley has already responded to the decision on his Instagram page.
In view of his 912k followers, he made his feelings clear, saying: “Creativity is always a leap of faith.
“All I did what was what felt right and I’d do it 100 times over… Sending love to everyone that stood by us.”
Britain’s Got Talent continues on Saturday at 8pm on ITV.

The support to see Piers Morgan sacked from his presenting role on Good Morning Britain has doubled recently. His interview style has been criticised recently after several politicians went head to head with him to discuss the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. While he said he was “challenging them” and “holding them accountable”, claims of “bullying” have been raised. And some viewers have been so unhappy with the way in which Piers has conducted themselves that they have taken to signing a petition to see him booted off the show.

A few months back, a petition was created calling for Piers to be removed from GMB, it gained 21,000 signatures at the time and Piers even discussed the campaign about himself on the show.
But following a string of car-crash interviews between the morning chat and news show and the presenter, the support for the campaign has doubled.
So far, 51,150 people have signed the petition.
Express.co.uk has contacted GMB and a representative for Piers for comment.

It comes after his interview with Andrew Bridgen MP where he was accused of “humiliating” the politician.
Piers accused the Conservative representative of being “full of excuses” and “not having a clue”.
Following his appearance on ITV, Bridgen appeared on Talk Radio and he said after being “shouted at” by Piers, he “won’t be going back” onto the show.
“I’ll have a little bet, he won’t be fronting that programme by Christmas… his ratings are going to keep plummeting,” Bridgen added.
The producer for GMB recently revealed the viewing figures for the show compared to its rival BBC Breakfast.
“BBC & ITV use BARB to record viewing figs. Since our respective COVID crisis coverage started in Wk 13 (23rd March) @GMB has grown already flourishing audience further 14% or 104K viewers, compared to @BBCBreakfast 4% or 63K. Both growing, @GMB rather faster….” His comment read.
But on the flip side, some viewers really don’t like the way Piers grills guests.
Take Bridgen’s interview, for example, 281 people contacted Ofcom and complained earlier this week.
This comes after Piers was cleared by Ofcom after almost 4,000 complaints were made from his interviews with Victoria Atkins MP, Helen Whately MP and Health Secretary Matt Hancock to name a few – all which took place last week.
As a result, the Conservative Party are now not offering interview slots with GMB.
Instead, all other rivals, including This Morning who interview Hancock and Lorraine who interview Priti Patel are being given the chance.
Good Morning Britain airs weekday mornings at 6am on ITV.
“The FT says it’s over 41,000.”
Whately dismissed the figure as one she “didn’t recognise” and said the “figures can be inaccurate”.
“Do you know how many people have died in the health care system, both in hospitals and in care homes? The workers?” Morgan began.
Whately answered: “We know 61 NHS workers have very sadly died and we have a figure at the moment of 15 care home workers who have died.”
Unconvinced by the figure, Morgan stated: “Your numbers again are completely wrong.
“I’m going to show you on our screen here that the real figure of all the people who work in the NHS and all the people who work in care homes who have died is actually 111.
