  • Costco recently raised prices on some goods, but Nelson said the company wants to be "the best value in the marketplace."

Costco has hiked prices on some items over the last year due to rising inflation, but the company has promised to keep the cost of two of the company's mainstays consistent, at least for now.

On the company's quarterly call, Costco executive Bob Nelson said the retailer has no plans to raise its membership dues at this time.

"Given the current macro environment, historically high inflation, and the burden it's having on our members and on all consumers in general, we think increasing our membership fee today ahead of our typical timing is not the right time," Nelson told investors and reporters. 

However, Nelson clarified that just because the company is not currently announcing a membership fee hike, it doesn't mean it will not announce one in the near future.   

He also attempted to put to bed rumors that Costco was raising the price of its famous food court staple. 

"I want to address some incorrect information floating around on social media and a few other media outlets claiming that we've increased the price of our hot dog and soda combination sold in our food courts. Let me just say, the price when we introduced the hot dog and soda combo in the mid-80s is $ 1.50, the price today is $ 1.50, and we have no plans to increase the price at this time," Nelson said. 

The big box retailer hasn't been able to keep prices consistent on all its goods amid rising costs. For example, the company has raised prices on other food court items like its chicken bake, muffins, and croissants due to the increased price of raw materials. 

Nelson said that the company wants to be the "best value in the marketplace," and if it can prove that to customers, "it's easier to pass on higher costs."

UPDATE ONE: A new warning has been made by Nintendo for those who are planning to switch their prized pocket monsters from Pokemon Go to Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu.

As many fans will already know, it’s possible to transfer Pokemon caught on Android and iOS, to Pokemon on Nintendo Switch.

However, this also comes with a warning from Nintendo on the process and what can happen. This includes the fact that if a transfer is interrupted, the Pokemon can be lost.

“If the Pokémon GO app gets disconnected while transferring Pokémon to Nintendo Switch, there is a chance that the resume transfer function would no longer work.

“It is also possible that the Pokémon GO app in which this issue occurred will no longer connect to any supported games on Nintendo Switch.

“To prevent this issue from occurring, ensure that you have a stable connection between the smart device and the Nintendo Switch game when transferring Pokémon.”

ORIGINAL: Pokemon Go fans on all platforms can now grab new rewards and access new options if they the recently released Nintendo Switch game – Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu.

Fans of the mobile smash hit can now transfer their Pocket Monsters to the Switch title, and they can also enjoy some new in-game bonuses.

It can prove a great combo between the two games, especially if you have been an active Pokemon Go player.

And it looks like the new Pokemon adventure could sell a lot of copies for Nintendo, according to the latest data.

A new report from NPD analyst Mat Piscatella suggests that a lot of Pokemon Go players are interested in buying Let’s Go Pikachu.

The number could be as high as 15% of the Pokemon Go playerbase, a massive amount if proved true.

Here’s what the report reveals on the new Nintendo Switch games release and the Pokemon Go affect:

“Of currently active Pokémon Go players, 24 percent are also active Switch players. Further, 65 percent of this Pokémon Go player/Switch owner group intend to purchase and play Pokémon: Let’s Go. This works out to be roughly 15 percent of total current Pokémon Go players that intend to purchase and play the Switch version of Pokémon: Let’s Go.

“In addition, more than 13 percent of Pokémon Go players who do not currently play games on Switch intend to purchase and play Pokémon: Let’s Go.

“This is a large group of individuals that intend to buy Nintendo Switch primarily due to the presence of Pokémon: Let’s Go…

“The data further suggest that the multi-pronged approach the Pokémon brand has taken to engage with fans across mediums has been successful in growing the total potential market. Mobile and console offerings appear to be working together to make the total pie much larger.

“Because of these efforts, Pokémon as a franchise has far more sales potential than were it to only focus on one specific platform or another.”

This could mean that around 7 million Pokemon Go players are interested in Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu, which could equate to a massive sales boost.

It’s still early days, but more data released by Nintendo in the future should confirm just how big an impact Pokemon Go has had.

In other Pokemon Go news, it looks like fans will soon find out more about the official December Community Day.

Niantic typically announces the Community Day date and featured Pokemon just a few days after the previous event ends.

But nearly a week removed from the November Community Day event starring Cyndaquil, fans are none the wiser about the date or featured Pokemon.

Some fans have even speculated that the December event has been cancelled due to the holiday season.

Fortunately, however, it looks like the announcement has simply been delayed and the event hasn’t been cancelled.

That’s according to Niantic Support, who told one fan that the announcement is coming soon.

Asked for more details about the Community Day event, Niantic Support tweeted: “We’ll be making an announcement with all of this information soon, keep an eye on the @PokemonGOApp channel for details.”

The December Community Day event is expected to take place on the weekend of December 15/16. If it’s anything like past events, it will take place between 10am and 1pm.

The Surface Dial, a hockey-puck-sized controller designed for use with Microsoft’s Surface Studio desktop computer, is the palette to the Surface’s pen. It clicks, double clicks and rotates, adding contextual menus and smooth navigation to apps such as Maps and Adobe Photoshop without the need to reach for a mouse. Unfortunately—despite some third-party alternatives—there’s nothing as slick as a Surface Dial available to creative types at home on a Mac.

That’s where the Logitech Craft comes in. Priced at a substantial £179, the Logitech Craft is a premium keyboard armed with a “crown,” that allows for the same clicks, double clicks and twists that make the Surface Dial so compelling, without the need to splash out on a Surface Desktop to go with it. While there are some odd limitations to the crown’s functionality, at least at launch, it’s a compelling companion to the keyboard and mouse.

It helps that the Craft is beautifully made. The main body is constructed from a sturdy matte grey plastic, while a heavy aluminium bar at the top adds weight, a comfortable tilt (although it’s sadly not adjustable), and the crown itself, which sits just above the escape key to the left of the keyboard. The Craft is a heavy thing with solid rubber feet that, once placed down on a desk, reassuringly stays put.

A fourth person even suggested that Piers Morgan, 52, should run for Prime Minister in the future, writing: “@piersmorgan @susannareid100 @GMB Guys never enjoyed the Election News so much. Loving It. @piersmorgan such a legend!you should run for PM.”

However, some viewers were not impressed and noticed that Piers kept speaking over 46-year-old Susanna Reid.

“I’ve no idea how @susannareid100 keeps her composure constantly being spoken over by her co-host, who lacks any professional courtesy,” one person tweeted, while another wrote: “@piersmorgan Please please can you and @susannareid100 stop talking over each other and especially other people when they are talking.Thanks.”

Another viewer criticised both presenters and tweeted: “#GMB @piersmorgan makes this ITV breakfast show an absolute car crash of a programme. Embarrassing seeing @susannareid100 wading in too.”

During the ITV show, Piers called for Prime Minister Theresa May to resign and wasn’t shy abider expressing his frustration with the leader of the Conservative party.

“She hasn’t got the balls to be leader,” he claimed. “I didn’t see any strength, I just saw timidity and hiding.”

Piers continued to take his criticism of the Prime Minister even further, suggesting that there’s no possible way she can continue in her current position.

“She is damaged, broken goods,” he added.

Sold as the “Rugged Combo,” the kit is aimed primarily at school kids and educators and has been designed in partnership with Apple.

As its name helpfully suggests, the device features a robust design to help protect it from drops of up to six feet, water splashes, and the kind of general knocks and scrapes it’ll likely experience inside — and outside — of a busy classroom. While some will be quick to give the chunky Rugged Combo low marks for looks, it’s a safe bet that kids won’t give two hoots about the design just so long as they can get their hands on a tablet during school time.

Focusing on the case component, we see that it incorporates a handy kick-back stand with mechanical hinges enabling it to be set at a range of angles. Importantly, Logitech promises it can comfortably handle “aggressive tapping” without suddenly collapsing.

The keyboard, meanwhile, physically connects to the 9.7-inch iPad using Logitech’s proprietary connector and draws its power directly from Apple’s tablet so you won’t have to charge the keyboard separately or worry about it losing juice. The company notes that “keyboard power consumption is optimized to use minimal power.”

Logitech says the device, which includes a row of short-cut and function keys for speedier operation, offers a “familiar, laptop-like typing” experience for ease of use.

“The Logitech Rugged Combo for the new 9.7-inch iPad is built from the ground up with personalized learning in mind,” Michele Hermann, Logitech vice president of mobility, said in a release. “We worked with Apple to design the Rugged Combo to be incredibly durable and protect iPad while bringing a secure keyboard connection that’s approved for testing, so teachers and students can focus on expanding what’s possible inside the classroom and beyond.”

The kit will also be available as two separate components. Pricing hasn’t yet been announced, though all will be revealed later this week when Logitech’s new offering hits Apple’s education site.

While Apple has long been targeting U.S. schools with its computers and tablets, recent research published in a NY Times report this month suggested that in the last four years the Cupertino-based company has lost a lot of the market to Chromebooks made by a variety of companies, while Windows devices have also started to sell in greater numbers.
