Love or hate Isle of Dogs, you can’t deny that it is filled with Good Dogs. And yes, I mean capital Good.

Which is why it’s genius that a line of collectible Isle of Dogs toys is being released in conjunction with the new stop-motion Wes Anderson movie. And you’ll definitely want to…fetch yourself at least one of these cute little puppers — though maybe not as a chewable toy for your own dog.

This is only Anderson’s second stop-motion animated film, but the symmetrical auteur has already established himself as the source of some of the coolest collectible movie tie-in toys. 2009’s Fantastic Mr. Fox spawned several beautiful collectible toys which are now virtually impossible to find, unless you’re willing to shell out cash on eBay. So it’s probably a good idea to snap up these lovely Isle of Dogs pieces before they scamper off.

Fox Searchlight is releasing this set of collectible Isle of Dogs toys. The pack includes the — ahem — pack of dogs who help guide the young injured pilot Atari Kobayashi (Koyu Rankin) as he searches for his lost dog Spots (Liev Schreiber) on Trash Island.

The dogs Chief (Bryan Cranston), Rex (Edward Norton), King (Bob Balaban), Boss (Bill Murray), and Duke (Jeff Goldblum) are rendered in immaculate detail, right down to the bristles of their hair and the embroidery on their tiny baseball jerseys. There’s also a pretty great action figure of Atari sporting his signature black eye and slingshot.






We can all agree that as culturally insensitive as Isle of Dogs is, the dogs were at least super cute, right? Fox Searchlight hasn’t yet announced when these toys are going on sale, but I’m sure they’ll offer a fetching price.

Isle of Dogs is currently playing in select theaters across the U.S.

When, by executive decree, all the canine pets of Megasaki City are exiled to a vast garbage-dump called Trash Island, 12-year-old Atari sets off alone in a miniature Junior-Turbo Prop and flies across the river in search of his bodyguard-dog, Spots. There, with the assistance of a pack of newly-found mongrel friends, he begins an epic journey that will decide the fate and future of the entire Prefecture.

Laser Guided Games and Hollow Earth are launching the first episode of Golem Gates, a hybrid game that combines real-time strategy combat and collectible card battlers like Hearthstone or Magic: The Gathering.

The release on Steam is the first part of a single-player campaign, which they’ll publish later. The teams at Laser Guided Games include industry veterans from Epic Games, while Hollow Earth was responsible for character design in the Marvel films Spider-Man Homecoming, Iron Man, and the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War. It’s $ 20 in Steam Early Access, and it should come out as a full release in March.

Golem Gates is a dark fantasy RTS and CCG, and the first episode, dubbed Book I, is available today as a free update on Steam. It has 100 collectible cards (known as Glyphs) for combat units, buildings, traps, buffs, debuffs, and techs.

The story begins with a mysterious voice, calling from the darkness. The Harbinger is an outcast in this forsaken world, and its goal is to find the monolithic Golem Gates, which aid the enemy, and destroy them to be redeemed. The episode teaches the player to wield the power of The Harbinger to manipulate and command nanites from The Ash. Over the course of five episodes, you’ll follow this mystery about the golem’s long-lost creators.

“We’re thrilled to introduce players to the The Harbinger, the protagonist of the game, and the Golem Gates themselves, the ominous giant structures that protect the enemy,” said Hollow Earth head Josh Nizzi, in a statement. “We can’t wait for players to dive deeper into the dark and dangerous world of Golem Gates.”

Through Steam Early Access, players can take their decks online in various competitive and cooperative multiplayer modes and experience the beginnings of Golem Gate’s story ahead of launch. Today’s update also adds a new Trials Mode for a series of diverse challenges.

“With the introduction of the Golem Gates single-player campaign, players can now further immerse themselves in its arcane setting,” said Laser Guided Games’ Matt Oelfke, founder and lead developer, in a statement. “Our Early Access players enjoying Golem Gates’ multiplayer side couldn’t get enough of the world we created, so we’ve expanded our scope to deliver even more single-player content than originally planned. Book I is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to hear what fans think.”

Golem Gates is a collaborative project developed by Laser Guided Games and Hollow Earth. The Laser Guided Games team has worked on titles such as Gears of War and Unreal Tournament, while Hollow Earth focuses on art design and story development. Hollow Earth’s Nizzi was also involved in games such as Red Faction and MechAssault 2.

Laser Guided Games is self-funded and it has four employees.

John Boyega might be a huge star now thanks to his leading role as the defected Stormtrooper FN-2187 in the new Star Wars trilogy, but back in 2011 he was a little known name at the center of the sci-fi horror comedy with some incredible monsters,  a fantastic ensemble cast and a fantastic score.

Attack the Block mixes Gremlins with Goonies and sets the action in South London where an alien invasion must be thwarted by a street gang of young miscreants. Driving the action with a thumping electric beat is a score by Steven Price, and that score is now getting a special limited edition glow in the dark vinyl release from I Am Shark.

The 3D platformer Donkey Kong 64 was lauded for its expansive worlds and multitude of well-hidden collectibles when it launched on the Nintendo 64 in 1999. Like many games of the era, it has enjoyed a peculiar afterlife as speedrunners blitz through it in record time under various conditions, like picking up each of the 976 banana coins found within. Unfortunately, all those completionist runs now seem to be invalid: 17 years after the game came out, streamer Isotarge has found a 977th coin.

Turns out the collectible was hidden underground in the game’s fifth level, Fungi Forest, but the telltale patch of dirt indicating buried treasure in the game was hidden by a patch of tall grass. Isotarge was examining save data for that stage and discovered that the information for a particular pickup, rainbow coins, was incomplete. Using analysis tools, they pinpointed its location and unearthed it. While Isotarge is no stranger to using glitches to find out-of-bounds items likely leftover by developers, this particular coin is in fair territory and can be plucked from the ground using an ordinary character move.

As noted above, this means the leaderboards for complete runs of Donkey Kong 64 will likely have to be reset. But as Kotaku points out, this new factor could shift player strategy in the game’s highly competitive speedrunning community. Discoveries like this are what revitalize even the most well-worn titles.

“Many runs were invalidated because of this discovery,” Isotage told Kotaku. “It’s one way to keep the community active. I’m looking forward to seeing speedrunners claim back those records”
