BioWare is launching a massive playtest of their latest PS4, Xbox One and PC game, the Anthem VIP Demo.

Set for launch on all platforms on Friday, January 25, fans received good news this week on the start times.

There have been times where players have found themselves missing out on certain playtests due to the platform they use.

Because EA Access and Origins are only available on PC and Xbox One, this has meant problems for PS4 players sometimes getting early access.

However, BioWare has confirmed that everyone, no matter what platform they play on, will be getting access to the Anthem VIP Demo at the same time.

The official Demo start time has been set by EA and BioWare for 5PM, GMT, on Friday, January 25.

Central Europe will get access at 4PM, the United States East Coast at 12pm and the West Coast at 9am.

There is three current way to get access to the Anthem Demo this week – EA Access, Origin Access and Pre-ordering the game.

EA has also confirmed that anyone with VIP access can also invite three friends to join them in the demo, opening the game up to even more players.

If you’re playing on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, you’ll need to wait until the game servers are live on January 25 to launch and sign into the game.

This still puts PS4 players at a slight disadvantage but the good news is that an open demo is also being arranged.

The VIP Demo can be downloaded via the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store or EA Access services, and will require you to login into your EA account.

You can register for the demo by visiting the Anthem website, inputting your code and selecting your preferred platform.

If you do download the Anthem demo ahead of release, you should note that it weighs in at around 23GB on Xbox One and roughly 26GB on PS4.

“If you are an Origin Access or EA Access subscriber or if you digitally pre-ordered on Origin, Xbox Store, or PlayStation Store, you have been automatically registered for the VIP Demo & do not need a code.

“If you’ve pre-ordered Anthem through any other retailers, you will need a code to access the VIP Demo. Please contact the retailer you pre-ordered from to obtain your code.

“If you are an EA Access or Origin Access Subscriber, or Pre-Ordered the game, you need to Sign In to access the Friend Pass page.”

For those who want to know just how long the new demo lasts, EA has confirmed that the Anthem VIP Demo ends on Sunday, January 27.

The open demo, available to everyone to download on all platforms, is scheduled to run from Friday, February 1 to Sunday, February 3.

EA has dropped several teases about what will be available during the Anthem Demo, including: “We want to give you a taste of all you can experience in Anthem, we’ll set you up with some missions and then a slice of the world is yours to explore.

“We start you off at level 10 in the demo, so you get to play with a more powerful Javelin and use more powerful weapons.”

Millions of SMS text messages—many containing one-time passcodes, password reset links, and plaintext passwords—were exposed in an Internet-accessible database that could be read or monitored by anyone who knew where to look, TechCrunch has reported.

The discovery comes after years of rebukes from security practitioners that text messages are a woefully unsuitable medium for transmitting two-factor authentication (2FA) data. Despite those rebukes, SMS-based 2FA continues to be offered by banks such as Bank of America, cellular carriers such as T-Mobile, and a host of other businesses.

The leaky database belonged to Voxox, a service that claims to process billions of calls and text messages monthly. TechCrunch said that Berlin-based researcher Sébastien Kaul used the Shodan search engine for publicly available devices and databases to find the messages. The database stored texts that were sent through a gateway Voxox provided to businesses that wanted an automated way to send data for password resets and other types of account management by SMS. The database provided a portal that showed two-factor codes and resent links being sent in near real-time, making it potentially possible for attackers who accessed the server to obtain data that would help them hijack other people’s accounts.

The Walt Disney Company hasn’t exactly been making the most level-headed decisions lately, but here’s something I think they have a right to be a little miffed about. The company has filed a lawsuit to halt Redbox from selling digital download codes for Disney movies in its kiosks across the country. Does Redbox stand a chance of winning this? According to The Wall Street Journal (via Variety), Disney has sued Redbox to stop the DVD rental company from selling digital download codes for its films. Redbox and Disney haven’t had a distribution deal together since 2012, so Redbox has been buying Disney DVD and Blu-ray combo packs themselves and renting them out to customers. Those combo packs come with a digital download code, which Redbox has been separately packaging and selling to customers since October, when they launched a service offering those codes for sale in their kiosks.

The problem for Redbox is that the fine print on the combo packs includes the phrase, “Codes are not for sale or transfer,” and that’s exactly what they’re doing. A Redbox spokesperson responded to the lawsuit by saying, “While we don’t comment on pending litigation, we feel very confident in our pro-consumer position.” Unless there’s a loophole that I’m missing, I’m not quite sure how Redbox thinks they’re going to win this one. The Disney legal department is pretty damn powerful, and they’re not only asking Redbox to stop selling their movies, but “asking for damages of up to $ 150,000 per title sold by Redbox for ‘willful infringement’ (or monetary damages to be determined at trial), and also wants Redbox to fork over the money it has made from sales of its movies.” Depending on how many Disney films Redbox has sold thus far, that could be a tremendous amount of money.

The timing here may not be completely coincidental. Last month, Disney Movies Anywhere added multiple other Hollywood studios to its home video app and rebranded as “Movies Anywhere,” and of course Disney is also on the precipice of launching its own streaming service full of Disney, Marvel, Pixar, and Lucasfilm movies and brand new original content – including a live-action Star Wars TV series. This might be a situation in which Disney is looking to clear away some of its competition before they blast into the marketplace…but again, from the outside, it seems as if Redbox is blatantly breaking a copyright law, so they’re probably right to go after them.

There’s still a possibility that this gets settled out of court, but I almost hope it doesn’t because I’d love to hear Redbox’s reasoning for how they think they’re justified in this case.

Update: Variety reports that after Disney’s first attempt to block Redbox from selling these codes failed, the studio reworked the language for the release of Black Panther to be far more detailed, and that convinced the judge to issue an injunction.

“Because Redbox did not obtain an ownership right to any digital content when it purchased Combo Packs, Disney has adequately shown that it is likely to succeed on its claim that Redbox encouraged Redbox customers to infringe Disney’s copyrights by redeeming Codes in violation of the license terms set forth on the redemption sites,” he wrote.

According to Variety, “the injunction applies to any combo packs that use the language on the Black Panther DVDs”, but it’s unclear if the studio is going to be able to stop Redbox from selling Disney download codes for older movies that don’t have that language in place.

fans are getting excited for the release of Black Ops 4, after Treyarch and Activision announced a beta for the multiplayer for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

Black Ops 4 has already had one week of beta testing on the PS4, but is now open for Xbox One and PC users. 

The beta is closed invitational beta, meaning you will need to get your hands on a code in order to play it. 

Luckily, there are a few ways to get your hands on a code for free to play Black Ops 4 early. 

How to get a Call of Duty Black Ops 4 beta code

You can get instant access to the beta if you are willing to spend some money first. 

If you pre-order 4 online or in stores, you will be given access to the beta with a download code. 

If you bought a physical edition of the game, the code can be input into the official Call of Duty website to give you access to the beta. For digital versions, you will automatically be given access to the beta when you pre-install the game. 

However, if you want to play the beta for free, you can enter a competition on the social platform Reddit, to get a free code.

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 fans are counting down to the start of this weekend’s multiplayer beta.

The Black Ops 4 beta has an August 3 release date on PS4. It ends a few days later on August 6.

Activision has announced a 6pm UK start time for the beta, so there’s not long to wait.

Pre-loads should be available from the evening of August 2. Activision updates tend to go live at 6pm, so it’s worth checking the PlayStation Store from then.

Unfortunately for Xbox One and PC users, the initial beta is a closed test on PS4 only. This means that you need an invite code to play.

To get a beta code, just pre-order a copy of Call of Duty Black Ops 4 online or in store.

If you pre-order a physical copy of the game, you’ll have to redeem a code on the Call of Duty Black Ops 4 beta website. Most codes can be found on the printed receipt, or will be emailed over.

If you pre-ordered digitally – from PSN or Xbox Live, for example – then you’ll automatically be entered into the beta program.

Epic Games have released their popular Battle Royale game on devices that took some by surprise.

While rival game PUBG launched on portable devices earlier this year, it did so in only one region, China.

But Fortnite on Mobile is now available to a select group of iOS users and has already been backed for success.

While only in its first phase of launch on iPhones and iPads, Epic Games have been backed to be very successful with their new launch.

The reason? Fortnite Mobile has one very special feature that makes it stand out from the crowd.

While players using the portable version have to deal with touchscreen for the time being, they can also use crossplay.

That means being able to party up with friends on other devices, as well as use cross-progression to keep all your stats and loot on platform.

This is apparently what makes Fortnite the future of gaming and is also the thing that will make it a big release.

This is according to KeyBanc Capital Markets analyst Evan Wingren who wrote at much in a recent note to clients.

“This means players across devices can squad up with friends and play together,” Wingren is quoted by CNBC.

“We believe this is the future of games. The same game on all platforms. Console quality graphics and action. Play when you want, where you want.”

And while there have been a lot of games released on mobile that have made a big impact, Fortnite stands out from the pack.

Just by looking at Google Trends, you can see that Fortnite is by far one of the biggest established games to launch on iOS and Android.

Candy Crush Saga is the only other that shows even close to the same interest, and that still comes in at near half the ranking.

But while Fortnite on Mobile is proving popular with fans, it will need to keep its eye on the prize.

PUBG Mobile just had a soft release in Canada on Android, meaning a bigger launch globablly could be just round the corner.

However, while the Android market is big, it isn’t quite as profitable as iOS.

While both games look set to launch on both platforms, Fortnite launching on iPhone and iPad sooner, may make it bring in more cash.

New data from App Annie suggests that iPhone users spend around twice as much on games as those on Android.

That could mean a big boost for Epic Games, until we see PUBG launch.

Other data tied to the recent report suggests that Mobile games generate nearly 80 percent of overall spending on the Google and Apple app stores.

Fortnite Mobile is out now on iOS devices, such as iPhone 6S/SE, iPad Mini 4, iPad Pro, iPad Air 2 and iPad 2017.

It’s a pretty wide selection of phones and tablets that can be used to play the Battle Royale mode, which is already providing popular.

It was recently revealed that the mobile title managed to hit the top of the free iOS games charts, without even a full release.

That won’t be for sometime, with Epic Games currently providing Fortnite Mobile Codes to those who have officially signed up to the pilot program.

Those who have been invited through the first waves of emails also get a few additional codes to share with friends.

But Epic Games are warning players not to waste them.

As mentioned at the top of this article, only certain devices can currently run Fortnite on Mobile.

“Got a friend code to send? Make sure your friends have a device that can play Fortnite,” the Epic Games development team confirms.

“Fortnite on Mobile is currently ONLY compatible with: iPhone 6S/SE, iPad Mini 4, iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, iPad 2017 devices or later.”

It should also be noted that Fortnite Mobile Codes for Android devices won’t be sent out for a few months.

The game will be sticking with the iOS program, until Epic Games says further.

While the process is straightforward enough, fans may have problems when it comes to actually downloading the app.

That’s because the Fortnite Mobile Battle Royale download weighs in at a hefty 2GB (it’s 1.98GB on the iPhone 7 Plus).

Many fans will need to free up some storage space to play the game, although it’s definitely worth it.

The Fortnite Battle Royale app works surprisingly well on iOS devices.

The hardest part is getting used to the touch controls, which assign movement to the left side and actions to the right.

Another big change from the PS4, Xbox One and PC is an indicator that provides you with the direction you’re being attacked from.

This also helps you find nearby chests and has been put in place to help for when people are playing with no sound.

Epic Games are asking for feedback from fans, with Fortnite Mobile still very much in the beta stage.

As mentioned by the development team, new features are being worked on for iOS and Android players.
