TVLine has an exclusive first look at the trailer for Charmed‘s third season, a 30-second video full of ominous predictions for the all-powerful witches.

In addition to Macy reminding Mel and Maggie that “the destruction of the sisterhood is inevitable,” we also hear an unfamiliar voice warning, “To restore life to the magical world requires the greatest power — and the greatest sacrifice.” That same voice can be heard saying, “I’m afraid not even the Charmed Ones can survive the death of all magic.” (Oh, you’re afraid?!)

Charmed wrapped its second season in May with a makeshift finale that found the sisters gearing up for their final battle against the Faction. It also included a heartbreaking moment for one of the show’s (incredibly) slow-burning couples, all of which you can read about in our interview with the showrunners.

Madeleine Mantock, Melonie Diaz and Sarah Jeffery star as the show’s titular Charmed Ones, along with Rupert Evans as their trusty Whitelighter. Season 2 also introduced us to Jordan Donica as a boxer named Jordan, and Poppy Drayton as Parker’s sister Abby.

Charmed returns with new episodes on Sunday, Jan. 24 (9/8c). Hit PLAY on the video above for your first look at Season 3 — you can click here to watch if the video doesn’t appear — then drop a comment with your hopes for the Vera-Vaughn sisters below.

Charmed Sneak Peek: Harry Makes a Horrifying Discovery About [Spoiler] https://briefnews.eu/charmed-sneak-peek-harry-makes-a-horrifying-discovery-about-spoiler/ https://briefnews.eu/charmed-sneak-peek-harry-makes-a-horrifying-discovery-about-spoiler/#respond Fri, 07 Feb 2020 14:33:47 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/charmed-sneak-peek-harry-makes-a-horrifying-discovery-about-spoiler/

What the Helen?! Charmed welcomes back Azura Skye’s character in tonight’s episode (The CW, 8/7c), but as you’ll see in TVLine’s exclusive sneak peek, she isn’t dropping by the manor for a spot of tea. (Honestly, we haven’t been this spooked by a hospital since the second season of Scream Queens.)

Perhaps a little context for this clip might help. According to the episode’s official synopsis, “a mysterious SOS call from Whitelighter Helen draws Harry, Mel, Macy and Maggie into a perilous conflict with Darklighter Helen.”

So here’s the question: Is Helen — one version of her, anyway — responsible for all the bloody corpses Harry discovers in the video above? It certainly wouldn’t be the first time that the Vera-Vaughn sisters were betrayed by someone with a friendly face. (Confession: We’re still working through our trust issues, thanks to that no-good Elder Charity.)

Meanwhile, “in an attempt to reignite the Power of Three, Macy resorts to drastic measures.” Based on the promo for tonight’s episode, our guess is that those “drastic measures” involve Macy asking Abigael to remove her demonic powers.

Charmed EPs Break Down Fall Finale’s Biggest Twists: [Spoiler]’s New Power, That Jaw-Dropping Kiss and More https://briefnews.eu/charmed-eps-break-down-fall-finales-biggest-twists-spoilers-new-power-that-jaw-dropping-kiss-and-more/ https://briefnews.eu/charmed-eps-break-down-fall-finales-biggest-twists-spoilers-new-power-that-jaw-dropping-kiss-and-more/#respond Sat, 07 Dec 2019 09:24:00 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/charmed-eps-break-down-fall-finales-biggest-twists-spoilers-new-power-that-jaw-dropping-kiss-and-more/

It was a nice day for a dark wedding (until it wasn’t) on Friday’s Charmed, which wrapped the first half of Season 2 with a series of heartbreaking, game-changing developments.

Determined to prove her sisters wrong, Maggie accepted Parker’s marriage proposal, making it all the way to the altar before Harry and Macy — with an unexpected assist from Abigael, who had her own plans to make manifest — whisked her back to Safe Space. Unfortunately, the Charmed Ones’ new hideout didn’t quite live up to its name, as Parker showed up to take his jilted frustrations out on Jordan.

The battle took a surprising turn when Mel, who discovered some very helpful black amber in the command center, used a new freezing ability to slow Parker down. Abigael stepped in to finish the job, presumably killing her brother and returning his body to the overlord compound. Only she didn’t kill him; Abigael merely left her brother to rot in his own dungeon while she assumed the throne and claimed all the glory for herself.

Meanwhile, after finally coming to terms with her feelings for Harry, Macy witnessed her Whitelighter in an intense lip lock with none other than Abigael. That was one of the many twists TVLine broke down with showrunners Craig Shapiro and Liz Kruger in the Q&A below:

TVLINE | I feel like it was a little risky waiting so long to bring back Parker. Were you worried the fans would grow restless?
KRUGER | Our goal is always to tell a great story, and giving people what they think they want too quickly can sometimes make the story lack energy and surprises. We wanted to examine different aspects of the characters and their relationships, so to bring him back right away would have undermined the story we were telling.
SHAPIRO | The fun is that it’s something everybody can relate to. When you break up with someone, and you don’t see them for a period of time, the next time you see them — whether it’s six months or six years later — you go, “Wow, you’ve changed. I think maybe I’ve changed, too?” You have to see that person with new eyes.

TVLINE | Any chance for a Parker/Maggie reunion down the road?
KRUGER | Well, he’s clearly not dead… for a reason. But what that reason is has yet to be revealed.

TVLINE | After that fight with Parker, I imagine Jordan will have a lot of questions for the sisters.
KRUGER | Yes. The next few episodes will deal with the repercussions of what happened in Episode 8, particularly with Maggie. We’re going to see her come out of the box pretty strong as she tries to recover from what happened. That’s going to be very powerful. And, yes, Jordan is going to ask a lot of questions, which will lead to some very surprising results.
SHAPIRO | Jordan’s going to spend the next few episodes trying to piece it all together.

TVLINE | And just to make sure: That was a new power Mel exhibited? Not just her old one, modified by the sprinkler system?
KRUGER | Correct, it was a new power. She was trying to activate her old power with the black amber, but in a moment of anger and panic, she [unleashed] a new ability.
SHAPIRO | It was just as Harry said — molecular manipulation. So she’s going to have to figure out exactly what that means, how it can be used and what the limits are.

TVLINE | Speaking of powers, the Power of Three is still out of commission. Will getting it back become a priority moving forward?
KRUGER | Yes. They’re about to go on a quest for the Power of Three that’s quite epic in scope, and it will reveal larger truths about the Charmed Ones.

TVLINE | I’m glad. I’ve missed seeing the three sisters fighting together as one.
KRUGER | Sisters are individuals, so we felt it was important to establish them as individuals. By the time they come together as the Power of Three, they’ll have been on their own journeys. We don’t all live in one room with our siblings. They have to go out and have adventures that change them, so they’ll have other things to offer each other when they do come together. We felt strongly that the idea of shedding your labels and having your siblings see you in a different light was an interesting path to put them on.

TVLINE | As for Macy/Harry/Abigael, is this a full-blown love triangle?
KRUGER | Well, Abby clearly has designs on Harry. The question is: Is it for nefarious reasons, or is her heart really in it?

TVLINE | And Macy has definitely accepted that she has feelings for Harry?
KRUGER | Yes. She’s been repressing that feeling because it’s scary. When she projected all of that onto the Darklighter, it was easier than it would have been with Harry. She’s coming to terms with the fact that she’s seeing him in a different light and allowing herself to take that leap. She’s someone who doesn’t leap without looking, and sometimes she looks too long.

May Sweeps In Memoriam: 30+ Deaths From Charmed, Empire, Supergirl and More — Which Loss Hit You Hardest? https://briefnews.eu/may-sweeps-in-memoriam-30-deaths-from-charmed-empire-supergirl-and-more-which-loss-hit-you-hardest/ https://briefnews.eu/may-sweeps-in-memoriam-30-deaths-from-charmed-empire-supergirl-and-more-which-loss-hit-you-hardest/#respond Thu, 23 May 2019 23:08:52 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/may-sweeps-in-memoriam-30-deaths-from-charmed-empire-supergirl-and-more-which-loss-hit-you-hardest/

The Grim Reaper certainly worked overtime during the month of May.

Throughout this year’s May Sweeps period (which concluded on Wednesday), more than 30 small-screen characters met their demise — some of them rather grisly, in fact. (The bright side? This year’s tally of 33 deaths is considerably lower than the 44 that last year’s Sweeps delivered.)

In the attached gallery, we’re reflecting on the men and women — and, in some cases, demons! — who perished in the last month. And it should go without saying that our photo recap contains major spoilers, so steer clear unless you’re caught up on your favorite shows.

The CW’s Charmed reboot led the death count, with a whopping eight characters headed to the TV afterlife. Meanwhile, The 100 and Whiskey Cavalier claimed second place with three deaths a piece. (Check out our May Sweeps Scorecard to see all of the month’s other developments, including hookups, breakups, character exits and more.)

We’ve also made room in our photo gallery for a few not-quite-official deaths, like The Flash‘s Nora, who “died” by getting erased from the present timeline. Heartbreaking and timey-wimey? It counts!

Charmed Sneak Peek: Have the Sisters Finally Solved Their Mother's Murder? https://briefnews.eu/charmed-sneak-peek-have-the-sisters-finally-solved-their-mothers-murder/ https://briefnews.eu/charmed-sneak-peek-have-the-sisters-finally-solved-their-mothers-murder/#respond Sat, 23 Mar 2019 23:40:37 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/charmed-sneak-peek-have-the-sisters-finally-solved-their-mothers-murder/

Last week’s Charmed blew the lid off its season-long murder mystery, finally revealing the person responsible for the witches’ mother’s death. So why is everybody acting like nothing happened?

TVLine has an exclusive sneak peek at Sunday’s episode (The CW, 9/8c), which picks up shortly after Macy discovered that not-so-sweet Charity killed Marisol in cold blood. Never mind the fact that Macy also watched Charity take out Elder Bari before her very eyes.

“Last night is a little bit fuzzy for me for some reason,” Macy tells her sisters over breakfast. She maintains that she doesn’t remember anything that happened the night before, including how she ended up with strange burn marks on her arm.

Things get even sketchier when Charity waltzes into the kitchen and immediately starts dodging Macy’s questions about her demonic test results. “Well, the circumstances are totally unprecedented, which is probably why Elder Bari is taking her time,” she explains unconvincingly.

Charmed was recently renewed for a second season, as part of The CW’s mass pick-up back in January. And as TVLine recently reported, the show will soon welcome Pretty Little Liars‘ Chloe Bridges as Tessa, the sisters’ new Whitelighter. (Wait, what’s happening to Harry?)

Hit PLAY on the video above for an exclusive first look at Sunday’s Charmed, then drop a comment with your thoughts on this fast-unfolding mystery: Did Charity really kill Marisol?

Charmed: What Is Galvin Hiding From Macy? Ser'Darius Blain Offers a Clue https://briefnews.eu/charmed-what-is-galvin-hiding-from-macy-serdarius-blain-offers-a-clue/ https://briefnews.eu/charmed-what-is-galvin-hiding-from-macy-serdarius-blain-offers-a-clue/#respond Sun, 11 Nov 2018 01:43:59 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/charmed-what-is-galvin-hiding-from-macy-serdarius-blain-offers-a-clue/

Charmed‘s Macy Vaughn is constantly struggling to conceal her new powers from pseudo-boyfriend Galvin — but is it possible that her new man is harboring a secret of his own? According to the synopsis of Sunday’s episode (The CW, 9/8c), “Maggie notices that Macy is upset about her situation with Galvin, so she offers to do some recon with her, but they discover that things might not be exactly what they seem.” Dun, dun, dun.

“There are definitely things you don’t know about Galvin,” Ser’Darius Blain tells TVLine. “We’ll get to know him quite a bit better over the course of these next few episodes, specifically in his relationship — or lack thereof — with Macy. I love the fact that the writers take the liberty of exploring my real-life culture as it pertains to my character. We explore that in the next few episodes, and that will explain a lot.”

But don’t expect Macy to share her big secret with Galvin — at least not anytime soon. “I’m excited for all the ways she’ll find to hide her secret from Galvin, but I’m also looking forward to hopefully becoming a part of the magic one day,” Blain says. “Niko and Galvin are the only humans on the show without powers… or are we?”

There’s a lot Blain appreciates about the couple’s budding relationship, but more than anything, he says, “I love that they’re two people the world might call ‘nerds.’ I like that the show is highlighting that being a nerd isn’t a negative thing, it’s empowering. I grew up in Miami, which is a very ‘cool’ city, but I was a science nerd. I was a biology major. But I also happened to be captain of the basketball team and first chair in band. Young people need to see that you can be a nerd and still be cool.”

Outside of his own character, Blain says it’s “an honor” to be part of a female-led show like Charmed that highlights the inherent strength of women: “I grew up around a lot of strong women, and they supported me, so it feels good to be able to return the favor, so to speak. Little girls need someone to look up to — and little boys need strong women to look up to, as well. I don’t think your heroes should be relegated to someone who’s the same sex or from the same background as you. Little boys should grow up wanting to be like Serena Williams.”

Charmed Sneak Peek: The Sisters Meet (and Clash With) Their First Elder https://briefnews.eu/charmed-sneak-peek-the-sisters-meet-and-clash-with-their-first-elder/ https://briefnews.eu/charmed-sneak-peek-the-sisters-meet-and-clash-with-their-first-elder/#respond Sun, 04 Nov 2018 00:03:26 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/charmed-sneak-peek-the-sisters-meet-and-clash-with-their-first-elder/

Historically speaking, the Charmed Ones haven’t exactly been chummy with supernatural authority figures, and it looks like some things never change. Sunday’s episode of Charmed (The CW, 9/8c) introduces the sisters to their first Elder, and TVLine has your exclusive first look at the awkward encounter.

“So these Elders are just sadists who kill anyone who gets in their way? That’s how they operate?” Mel asks Harry while an Elder named Charity (played by Fuller House‘s Virginia Williams) pokes and prods at Angela Wu, who remains chained up in the sisters’ attic while they figure out what to do about the evil harbinger demon living inside her.

“If they say killing the creature is the only way, it’s the only way,” Harry tells Mel, eliciting an expected — and, let’s be real, pretty deserved — eye roll. (Seriously, who is he calling a “creature,” anyway?) Charity does her best to explain the situation as delicately as possible, but to be honest, I’m more interested in the exchange between Harry and Charity. Do I detect… vibes between those two?

Charmed Reboot: 10 Times The CW's Premiere Honored the Original Series https://briefnews.eu/charmed-reboot-10-times-the-cws-premiere-honored-the-original-series/ https://briefnews.eu/charmed-reboot-10-times-the-cws-premiere-honored-the-original-series/#respond Mon, 15 Oct 2018 21:55:35 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/charmed-reboot-10-times-the-cws-premiere-honored-the-original-series/

Macy, Mel and Maggie may not be the Halliwell sisters, but they’re still the Charmed Ones — and they’re following in the original witches’ footsteps more than they probably realize. While watching the premiere of The CW’s Charmed reboot on Sunday, we’d be shocked if diehard fans of the classic series didn’t spot a handful of winks and nods to the ladies who started it all.

From the sisters’ complicated relationship with law enforcement (Nico is so the new Andy) to the ways they discovered their powers (Macy and Prue both hit the bars), TVLine counted 10 different instances of the reboot pilot paying homage to the original. In fact, there’s even a moment in which a character from the original series pops up in the reboot — name and all.

Of course, this isn’t a complete surprise. TVLine has spoken with the new series’ stars — Madeleine Mantock, Melonie Diaz and Sarah Jeffery — on multiple occasions, including at San Diego Comic-Con and at the CW Upfront, and they’ve always insisted that their show will honor what came before it.

“Our writers and EPs have seen every episode, I don’t know how many times,” Mantock said. “They definitely have the arsenal to be able to put those little treats in there.”

Browse our gallery of the Charmed pilot’s references to the original series — you can click here for direct access — then drop a comment with your thoughts: Did you notice any other connections?
