You know you’re in for an insane episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars when someone yells “You’re a shady bitch for doing that!” less than five minutes in. Friday’s installment picked up moments after Manila Luzon’s ludicrous elimination at the hands of Naomi Smalls, who played coy when asked to explain her controversial decision.

In person, she kept her answer vague, attributing it to “a lot of different reasons.” But in her confessional, she admitted, “I sent her home because I wanted to,” acknowledging that Manila was also “crazy competition.” Another reason, which she eventually revealed, was that she owed Latrice for saving her one week prior.

Monet X Change then revealed that she also chose Manila’s lipstick, though she was considerably less sorry about it than Naomi. “I’m a petty bitch from Brooklyn,” she explained. “I wish I could have done it on stage!”

This triggered the wrath of Trinity, who put both queens in their respective place before exiting the conversation. “I’m gagged that Manila is gone,” she said. “This was her first time in the bottom and she’s won the most challenges. Manila deserved to be in the competition, so far, until the end. … I definitely think that, up until now, the eliminations have been pretty fair. But now it’s all out the window.”

This week’s maxi challenge found the queens performing a highly unauthorized Sex and the City sequel titled, what else, Sex and the Kitty Girl 3. And because Ms. Smalls was last week’s winner, she also got to play casting director, putting herself in the plum role of Carrie Bradshaw. (Sorry, I mean, “Sarah.” Seriously, I cannot possibly overstate how unauthorized this was.)

Rounding out the cast of this disaster movie was Trinity as sex-crazed “Kim,” Latrice as lawyer-turned-politician “Cynthia,” Monet as prissy art dealer “Kristin” and Monique as “K-Jo,” the ’80s party girl who fell out of a window — because of course this show would resurrect Kristen Johnston’s character.

As the judges would later relay to the queens, the finished product wasn’t exactly brown cow stunning. Trinity and Monique did what they could to keep the movie afloat (with a minor assist from Latrice), but they simply couldn’t support the others. And what the heck was that clown segment? The fact that Emmy Award-winning guest judge Felicity Huffman had to sit through this mess in its entirety is honestly a crime against the arts.

Following a “cat couture” runway — which Trinity and Monique won with their tiger bodysuit and Puss in Boots homage, respectively — Ru announced, “If you’re not in the top, you’re in the bottom.” This sent the other three queens into a damn tizzy, as they each scrambled to ensure that their lipstick wouldn’t be chosen at the end of the night.

Following an ’80s-tastic battle to the tune of Janet Jackson’s “When I Think of You,” Trinity was named thee winner. And she used her power to send Latrice packing for the second time this season.

In other Drag Race news, VH1 announced that Season 11 will premiere on Feb. 28 at 9/8c, with new episodes now airing on Thursdays. Watch a promo below:

Facebook carried ads from mysterious pro-Brexit group for months https://briefnews.eu/facebook-carried-ads-from-mysterious-pro-brexit-group-for-months/ https://briefnews.eu/facebook-carried-ads-from-mysterious-pro-brexit-group-for-months/#respond Sun, 21 Oct 2018 03:15:14 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/facebook-carried-ads-from-mysterious-pro-brexit-group-for-months/

While Facebook might be making strides in clamping down on fake news and shady political ads, there appear to have been holes in its strategy. The UK’s Digital, Culture, Media and Sport committee has published data showing that Facebook carried ads for a “hard Brexit” (that is, a UK exit from the European Union with few if any deals) from a mysterious organization, Mainstream Network, for 10 months. There’s no clear indication as to who’s behind the group, but it had a wide reach — the £257,000 it spent (about $ 336,000) helped it reach up to 11 million people across the country.

The ads vanished earlier in the week, soon after Facebook announced that its political ad disclosure policy would reach the UK. In other words, Mainstream Network decided it would rather withdraw all its ads than identify its backers.

The findings and the subsequent response suggest that Facebook’s new policies might be necessary, even if it still has to address problems for cultural groups whose ads are incorrectly marked as political at times. At the same time, it’s also raising concerns that government regulation might be necessary. The Electoral Reform Society, for instance, told the Telegraph that the UK shouldn’t leave election integrity “to the whim of individual companies.” It might be fortuitous that Facebook just hired former politician Nick Clegg to help it navigate the policy waters.

Prostate cancer symptoms: How are checks for prostate cancer carried out? https://briefnews.eu/prostate-cancer-symptoms-how-are-checks-for-prostate-cancer-carried-out/ https://briefnews.eu/prostate-cancer-symptoms-how-are-checks-for-prostate-cancer-carried-out/#respond Sun, 15 Jul 2018 11:49:26 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/prostate-cancer-symptoms-how-are-checks-for-prostate-cancer-carried-out/

Prostate cancer symptoms usually don’t appear until the cancerous growth is large enough to put pressure on the urine-carrying tube.

Signs of this cancer, the most common in men, include difficulty starting to urinate or emptying the bladder, a weak urine flow or feeling as though the bladder hasn’t emptied properly, according to charity Prostate Cancer UK.

Dribbling urine, needing to use the toilet more often and a sudden urge to urinate, “you may sometimes leak before you get to the toilet”, are other signs of the cancer.

“Most men with early prostate cancer don’t have any signs or symptoms,” said the charity.

“One reason for this is the way the cancer grows. Because the cancer usually starts to grow in a different part of the prostate, early prostate cancer doesn’t often press on the urine tube and cause symptoms.”

Diagnosis of the cancer is possible through one of the available tests.

The NHS advised that someone with symptoms of the cancer should visit their GP.

“There’s no single, definitive test for prostate cancer,” said the NHS online, “Your GP will discuss the pros and cons of the various tests with you to try to avoid unnecessary anxiety.”

Possible tests to check for prostate cancer include a urine sample screening, digital rectal examination, where a gloved finger is inserted into the bottom to check the prostate, and the prostate-specific antigen test, also called the PSA test.

“Your GP will assess your risk of having prostate cancer based on a number of factors, including your PSA levels and the results of your prostate examination, as well as your age, family history and ethnic group.”

The PSA test measures the level of a particular antigen in the blood, made only by the prostate gland.

“PSA is a protein produced by normal cells in the prostate and also by prostate cancer cells,” said Prostate Cancer UK online.

“It’s normal to have a small amount of PSA in your blood, and the amount rises as you get older and your prostate gets bigger.

“A raised PSA level may suggest you have a problem with your prostate, but not necessarily cancer.”

Symptoms of prostate cancer can also be caused by a “very common non-cancerous” condition known as enlarged prostate.

The prostate is part of the male reproductive system.

It is a gland at the neck of the bladder which releases a fluid into the semen to help with reproduction.

The causes of prostate cancer are unclear but being overweight, having a bad diet and having an age over 50 can increase the risk of the cancer developing.

“Recent research suggests there may be a link between obesity and prostate cancer, and a balanced diet and regular exercise may lower your risk of developing prostate cancer,” said the NHS.

“Research is ongoing into the links between diet and prostate cancer, and there is some evidence that a diet high in calcium is linked to an increased risk of developing prostate cancer.”

2 Israeli warplanes carried out strikes on Syrian airbase – Russian MoD https://briefnews.eu/2-israeli-warplanes-carried-out-strikes-on-syrian-airbase-russian-mod/ https://briefnews.eu/2-israeli-warplanes-carried-out-strikes-on-syrian-airbase-russian-mod/#respond Mon, 09 Apr 2018 07:40:35 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/2-israeli-warplanes-carried-out-strikes-on-syrian-airbase-russian-mod/

Two Israeli F-15 fighters targeted Syria’s T-4 airbase in Homs province, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday. The jets fired eight guided missiles, but five of them were shot down before they hit the airfield.

In a statement on Monday, the Russian military said: “Two Israeli Air Force F-15 jets fired eight guided missiles at the T-4 airfield.” The Israeli aircraft did not enter Syrian airspace and launched the strikes while flying over Lebanon.

“Syrian air defense units have shot down five guided missiles,” the military said, but confirmed that three of the missiles “reached the western part of the airfield.”

Citing its own correspondent, Lebanon’s Al-Mayadeen channel said earlier on Monday that an Israeli reconnaissance aircraft was airborne during the attack on the Syrian base. The missiles crossed Lebanese airspace over Keserwan and Bekaa, heading towards Syria, according to the broadcaster.

Shocking moment a woman gives birth in the SEA – and the placenta is carried in a bucket https://briefnews.eu/shocking-moment-a-woman-gives-birth-in-the-sea-and-the-placenta-is-carried-in-a-bucket/ https://briefnews.eu/shocking-moment-a-woman-gives-birth-in-the-sea-and-the-placenta-is-carried-in-a-bucket/#respond Tue, 13 Mar 2018 14:42:30 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/shocking-moment-a-woman-gives-birth-in-the-sea-and-the-placenta-is-carried-in-a-bucket/

A woman has given birth in the Red Sea in Egypt and the photos and video gone viral.

The town of Dahab by the red sea has been the spot where a woman had her baby.

The Russian woman was filmed from a balcony and the amazing moment was shared on social media.

An older man and younger man, thought to be her partner, carried the baby out of the sea, and the placenta in a bucket.

The location is north of Sharm el-Sheikh, is a popular tourist spot.

The woman then appeared from the sea in her bikini smiling and wearing goggles.

The birth may or may not have been planned, but the bucket was on hand to catch the placenta.

Reports have claimed the older man may be a doctor, on hand to help, but this is not confirmed.

Everyone on hand seemed happy and healthy. According to Baby Centre there are legends of South Pacific islanders giving birth in shallow sea water.

In Guyana in South America there is a special river where women go to give birth.

In 2015 a woman who appeared in a Channel 4 documentary Extraordinary Births wanted to give birth in the sea with dolphins as a midwife.

There are not many animals who have played this important role in birth.

There is currently no update as to whether any sea life played a role in the birth.

Another woman gave birth dramatically in a hospital corridor after arriving at hospital too late to make it to a bed, and the shocking moment of the birth was caught on camera.

Jesica Hogan, from Kansas, USA, welcomed baby Max in July last year and the incredible birth story has gone viral thanks to its unusual nature.

The birth occurred at the Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, Kansas, and was captured by the Hogan’s birth photographers, Little Leapling Photography.

US and South Korean forces reportedly carried out a training drill to infiltrate North Korea and take out its nukes https://briefnews.eu/us-and-south-korean-forces-reportedly-carried-out-a-training-drill-to-infiltrate-north-korea-and-take-out-its-nukes/ https://briefnews.eu/us-and-south-korean-forces-reportedly-carried-out-a-training-drill-to-infiltrate-north-korea-and-take-out-its-nukes/#respond Wed, 20 Dec 2017 09:45:47 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/us-and-south-korean-forces-reportedly-carried-out-a-training-drill-to-infiltrate-north-korea-and-take-out-its-nukes/ us army south korea warrior strikeUS Army Photo by Pfc. • The US and South Korea reportedly trained to ‘infiltrate’ North Korea and remove its weapons of mass destruction.
  • If war broke out between the US, its allies, and North Korea, this would be a vital early step.
  • Video shows US troops participating in the drill, which followed an exercise where stealth aircraft ran simulated bomb runs on North Korean targets.

The US and South Korean militaries carried out a training exercise focused on “infiltrating North Korea and removing weapons of mass destruction in case of conflict,” military sources told Yonhap News.

Lt. Col. Christopher B. Logan, a spokesman for the US military in South Korea, told Business Insider that the US military doesn’t “discuss specific scenarios,” but that “exercises are vital to the readiness of the US and our allies, and ensure we are ready and trained for combined-joint operations.”

Online video of the exercise, called Warrior Strike, shows US troops training in protective gear and in urban environments, much as they might if they had to fight through a situation where nuclear, chemical, or biological weapons had been used.

The training, which took place on December 15, followed up a week-long air drill that involved an unprecedented number of stealth aircraft carrying out simulated bomb runs on North Korean targets.

If war broke out between the US, South Korea, and North Korea, a key task early in the conflict would be seizing control of, or destroying, Pyongyang’s weapons of mass destruction.

Though its arsenal remains secretive, experts suspect North Korea possesses chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons. North Korea has frequently threatened nuclear attacks on South Korea and the US, and demonstrated nuclear devices six times.

At the moment, China and Russia accuse the US of escalating tensions with North Korea as it increases its military drills, while the US pushes the world to implement strict sanctions on Pyongyang and refuses to accept the nation’s illegally forged nuclear status.

N. Korea stole cyber tools from NSA, carried out WannaCry ransomware attack – Microsoft chief https://briefnews.eu/n-korea-stole-cyber-tools-from-nsa-carried-out-wannacry-ransomware-attack-microsoft-chief/ https://briefnews.eu/n-korea-stole-cyber-tools-from-nsa-carried-out-wannacry-ransomware-attack-microsoft-chief/#respond Sat, 14 Oct 2017 13:11:20 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/n-korea-stole-cyber-tools-from-nsa-carried-out-wannacry-ransomware-attack-microsoft-chief/

The head of Microsoft accused North Korea of carrying out the WannaCry cyberattack which crippled 200,000 computers in 150 countries earlier in 2017. Pyongyang used “cyber tools or weapons stolen from the NSA,” the company’s president believes.

Microsoft President Brad Smith told ITV that he believed “with great confidence” that North Korea was behind the worldwide WannaCry cyberattack.

“I think at this point that all observers in the know have concluded that WannaCry was caused by North Korea using cyber tools or weapons that were stolen from the National Security Agency in the United States,” Smith said.

According to Smith, over the last six months the world has “seen threats come to life… in new and more serious way.”

“We need governments to come together as they did in Geneva in 1949 and adopt a new digital Geneva Convention that makes clear that these cyber-attacks against civilians, especially in times of peace, are off-limits and a violation of international law,” he added.

There has been speculation that North Korea may have played a significant role in the WannaCry ransomware attack in May. Shortly after the hack, Neel Mehta, a prominent Google security researcher, revealed a resemblance between the code used in what is said to be an early version of WannaCry ransomware, and that in a hacker tool attributed to the notorious Lazarus Group in a Twitter post.

Russian cyber security firm Kaspersky Lab explained in a blog post that Mehta drew parallels between “a WannaCry cryptor sample from February 2017” and “a Lazarus APT [Advanced Persistent Threat] group sample from February 2015.”

The Lazarus Group is believed to be behind high-profile hacking attacks on SWIFT servers of banks, including an attempt to steal $ 851 million from Bangladesh Central Bank in February 2016.

However, Kaspersky researches said that the apparent use by the WannaCry attackers of similar code is not enough to come to definitive conclusions about its origin, as there is the possibility of it being a false flag operation.

“Attribution can always be faked, as it’s only a matter of moving bytes around,” another renowned researcher, Matthieu Suiche from Comae Technologies, said at that time, as cited by Cyberscoop.

In May, a South Korean government-commissioned report produced by the Financial Security Institute (FSI) said that North Korea was responsible for the attack on Sony’s entertainment business in 2014, which erased vast amounts of data while disseminating emails and personal data of employees, in addition to leaking pirated copies of upcoming film releases.
