MMA star Conor McGregor has agreed an out-of-court settlement after a Las Vegas security guard filed a $ 95,000 lawsuit against him for allegedly being hit by energy drinks cans at a UFC press conference in August 2016. MGM Grand security guard William Pegg filed the lawsuit after being caught in the melee at the venue’s David Copperfield Theater ahead of McGregor’s hotly-anticipated rematch with Nate Diaz at UFC 202. READ MORE: McGregor v Diaz press conference descends into bottle-throwing mayhem McGregor famously lost the first meeting between the pair at UFC 196, and tensions were high during fight week ahead of the rematch. Nowhere was that more apparent than during the pre-fight press conference. When Diaz walked off stage and headed for the door mid-way through proceedings, it promoted an angry exchange between the two fighters that descended into a missile-throwing melee, as McGregor picked up a handful of unopened cans of Monster Energy drink and hurled them from the stage into the stalls, where Diaz and his team were standing. Pegg claimed he was hit in the back and shoulder by cans thrown by McGregor during the fracas, and sued McGregor for a total of $ 95,000. The sum consisted of $ 5,000 in medical bills and an additional sum of $ 90,000, calculated as a share of McGregor’s $ 15 million earnings from UFC 202. READ MORE: McGregor beats Nate Diaz on points at UFC 202 Attempts by Pegg’s legal team to bring McGregor to the witness stand were hampered by the Irishman’s lawyers, who had successfully moved the case to federal court in an attempt to keep the UFC superstar’s financial records private. Pegg’s lawyers also claimed McGregor failed to show for a scheduled appearance due to his involvement in his subsequent attack on a bus containing Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 223 in Brooklyn. “McGregor’s deposition was scheduled for April 6, 2018. However, McGregor did not appear for his deposition. Instead, on the night of April 5, he was throwing metal barriers and other objects at UFC 223, at which he was not scheduled to appear,” their statement read. READ MORE: Conor McGregor sued by fellow UFC fighter over Brooklyn bus attack But Pegg withdrew his complaint at Nevada Federal Court this week after the two sides of the lawsuit came to a settlement out of court. McGregor is set to appear before the Nevada State Athletic Commission on December 10 to face sanctions for his involvement in the post-fight brawl after his loss to Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 in October. Nurmagomedov is also scheduled to appear at the hearing. Both men are expected to be handed suspensions and fines for the incident at the T-Mobile Arena, and will not be booked to compete in their next respective bouts until matters with the commission have been resolved. Earlier this week McGregor appeared in court in his native Ireland, where he was banned from driving for six months and handed a €1,000 (US$ 1,130) over charges of speeding. It was supposed to be the future of digital communications, helping to connect the “next five billion people” to the Internet. But Facebook has now shut down its internal effort to build high-altitude solar-powered drones to provide a backbone for Internet connectivity in areas lacking wired infrastructure. In a blog post yesterday, Facebook’s Yael Maguire announced that the company is shuttering its Aquila drone program.
The goal of the Aquila program was to create a drone that could stay aloft for months at a time, orbiting over a geographic area at high altitude to provide a persistent radio link. Facebook based Aquila on the work of the UK-based drone research company Ascenta, which Facebook acquired in 2014—incorporating the operation into the company’s Connectivity Lab and Internet.org project. The original plan was to use laser communications links between Aquila drones to provide a backbone network to provide Internet connectivity to ground stations.
At the time, Facebook and Google were both aggressively looking for ways to further expand their reach; Google had launched its Project Loon the year before and made its own solar-powered drone acquisition in April of 2014, buying Titan Aerospace. But like many things that both Facebook and Google took on four years ago, both drone efforts struggled. Facebook only managed two test flights of the Aquila design; the first ended in a hard landing caused by a structural failure, and the second was more successful but still far from meeting Facebook’s goals. Titan suffered a similar fate after being incorporated into Google’s X spin-off company; Titan was shut down last January, as Google parent Alphabet chose to focus on Project Loon and delivery drones.

]]>When looking at why the number of vans on the roads is increasing, the answer points towards the growth in online shopping and deliveries. In 2016, the total UK market for e-commerce deliveries was 2.7bn packages. While each of these packages must be delivered, and with the ordering and delivery sectors expected to grow 70% in the next 5 years, it is clear why people are investing in these vehicles and considering careers as self-employed delivery drivers. With the number of deliveries showing no signs of slowing down, should we expect more vans on our roads in future? Take a look at the stats and the growing market in the infographic below from Select Car Leasing.

Instagram/Donald Trump
President Donald Trump drinks roughly 12 cans of Diet Coke every day, according to a lengthy New York Times profile about how he grapples with the daily demands of the presidency.
Trump is famous for his voracious consumption of cable news and tendency to fire off impulsive tweets when he’s displeased with the way he’s portrayed in the media. According to the Times report, the only people allowed to touch the TV remote are Trump and the technical support staff. The Times said the president watches up to eight hours of TV per day.
While he watches the news, Trump frequently likes to share his thoughts on the day’s headlines with whoever’s in the room — including members of the housekeeping staff, whom he “summons via a button for lunch or one of the dozen Diet Cokes he consumes each day,” per The Times.
Trump is known for his fast-food habit. According to a book written by former top campaign aides Corey Lewandowski and David Bossie, “the orchestrating and timing of Mr. Trump’s meals” during the campaign “was as important as any other aspect of his march to the presidency.”
“On Trump Force One there were four major food groups: McDonald’s, Kentucky Fried Chicken, pizza and Diet Coke,” the book said.
While he embraces his taste for fast food, Trump frequently pushes back against the notion that he’s an avid consumer of cable news.
When The Times reached out to him with a list of questions about its article, including one about his TV habits, Trump didn’t respond directly. He told reporters from other outlets last month that he didn’t have time to watch television because he was too busy reading “documents.”
“I do not watch much television,” Trump said. “I know they like to say — people that don’t know me — they like to say I watch television. People with fake sources — you know, fake reporters, fake sources. But I don’t get to watch much television, primarily because of documents. I’m reading documents a lot.”
He said as much in July, amid reports that the White House was in disarray as special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation was heating up.
“The W.H. is functioning perfectly, focused on HealthCare, Tax Cuts/Reform & many other things,” Trump tweeted at the time. “I have very little time for watching T.V.”

It’s a Monday morning and Val Trinkala and Robert Sledge are slowly making their way along Pittsburgh’s downtown streets, stopping to check public trash cans in a Department of Public Works truck. About half the cans need emptying; the rest they skip. But they still check every can on every street on their route.
This time next year, a ride with these guys will look pretty different. Pittsburgh is spending $ 854,000 to install sensors in street-side trash cans. Those sensors will transmit information that tells workers when the cans are full to reduce time they spend checking empty cans.
“If we are able to knock off 50,000 hours, that’s roughly 25 employees that can be rededicated to other tasks in public works,” said Mike Gable, director of public works. He said they can then do things like “pothole patching, vacant lot cleanup, it could be more tree pruning, street cleaning.”
Gable expects this upfront money will turn into savings down the line. Sara Bixby, with the Solid Waste Association of North America, has seen variations of this type of technology in trash.
“It adds better data to their decision-making, and if we want to have more effective government and more effective collection programs, we need better data,” she said.
It’s what’s called the internet of things — merging the physical with data to collect information. Carlo Ratti with Senseable City Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology said this information can make cities run better. In Cambridge, his lab installed sensors on trash trucks.
“By actually using a small number of trucks, Cambridge has learned a lot of things about the city,” he said, citing data about air quality, temperature, potholes and infrastructure. He points to similar projects in Copenhagen and Singapore. “I would say we’re at the beginning of this internet of things revolution in cities. And I think we need to experiment a lot,” he said.
Back in the Department of Public Works truck, Trinkala, who’s in the Teamsters union, said this experiment will waste tax dollars.
“There’s no need to get sensors and invest all that money to tell us what we’re doing right now. That’s not a good business decision,” he said.
He’s been emptying cans for 37 years. Even if they’re not full, he said the cans should still be emptied at least once a day. Food waste attracts rats. And the biggest concern, he said, is discarded needles.
While city officials expect a return on their investment within a few years, workers like Trinkala feel differently. At the dumping site, he points to a pile of dented, rusted trash receptacles. Snow, ice, salt, vandalism — those are the realities of street cans he said, not fancy cans with sensors that cost $ 1,200 apiece.
“They’re going to be scrapped in three years. Just by the weather, environment. By age — everybody, everything gets old. Things need [to be] repaired,” he said.
The sensors will be installed throughout the city over the next year.

Tiffany & Co.
The average Tiffany customer can afford to pay a premium for luxury. Perhaps this is why the company now has an “Everyday Objects” section on its website, where it sells silver and gold versions of “household” items, like balls of yarn and porcelain eggs, for thousands of dollars.
It might also be an attempt to build buzz among millennials and compensate for declining traffic in its stores, according to CNN.
The company said the collection was “born out of the notion that beautiful things should not be limited to special occasions,” adding that the “covetable accessories possess a whimsical wink that is quintessentially Tiffany.” (Or, in other words, they’ll do well on social media.)
These are the craziest, least practical “everyday objects” you can currently buy on Tiffany’s website.

Beats Studio 3 WIreless review
With Apple continuing its campaign to kill the headphone port, more consumers are switching to wireless headphones.
Beats are no stranger to going wire-free but now there’s a new pair of Bluetooth cans called the Studio 3 Wireless.
These updated headphones offer the ultimate experience if you own an iPhone with them instantly connecting and switching between all of your Apple devices.
This compatibility should come as no surprise considering the US technology firm bought Beats back in 2014 for $ 3billon.
So, if you’re in the market for some new noise-cancelling headphones should Beats be top of your Christmas wish list?
Express.co.uk has been putting them to the test around the noisy streets of London and here’s our full Beats Studio 3 Wireless review.
EXPRESS NEWSPAPERS
Beats Studio 3 WIreless offer a decent level of noise cancellation
There’s no getting away from the fact that the plastic look and feel of the Beats Studio 3 Wireless won’t be for everyone.
Other manufacturers, including Bower and Wilkins, are producing far more premium looking cans.
However, despite their plastic appearance, the new Studio 3 Wireless actually feel pretty solid and very well built.
They also have a neat folding mechanism which means they can fit snuggly in your bag.
Beats supplies a tough case so you should also feel pretty confident that your new £300 headphones aren’t going to get damaged when not on your ears.
Having used them for a few weeks we really don’t have an issue with the overall design of the Studio 3 Wireless but there one thing that’s been bugging us.
On the side of the left ear cup are hidden controls which allow you to pause, skip and change the volume of the music you happen to be listening to.
Tucking these controls behind the famous Beats logo is a nice touch but in reality they don’t work well enough and actually become highly irritating to use.
EXPRESS NEWSPAPERS
Beats Studio 3 wireless are some of the most comfortable cans on the market
Pressing to control the volume can end up in tracks being paused and double/triple tapping to skip songs if fraught with issues.
Other premium headphones include separate buttons or touch technology which is far more simple and accurate.
The controls may be a little confusing but one great thing about the design is how comfortable these headphones feel when placed on your head.
The lightweight build means you hardly notice you are wearing them and the soft cup around the ear makes them blissfully pleasant to use.
We wear glasses and some on-ear cans, that we’ve tested in the past, can pinch and become excruciatingly uncomfortable but the Beats pass this test with flying colours.
In fact we’d go as far to say they are possibly some of the most comfy cans we’ve ever tried.
EXPRESS NEWSPAPERS
The Beats fold neatly into a protective case
If you want a pair of headphones that offer subtle sound, switch off right now as the Beats Studio 3 Wireless are definitely not for you.
These cans boom out bass like it’s going out of fashion and are aimed at people who like their music loud and eardrum rumbling.
That’s not to say that the Beats are bad as we’ve really enjoyed our time with them and if bass is your thing you’re going to love them.
With the latest pure ANC noise-cancelling tech tucked inside you’re also offered an uninterrupted experience with your tunes packed full of depth and a decent amount of clarity.
Unlike most noise-cancelling cans, which require the user to change the settings depending on their environment, the Beats Studio 3 do this automatically.
This clever tech constantly monitors what’s going on around you via unique microphones tucked inside the headphones and adapts the cancellation accordingly.
We’re not totally convinced the sound blocking is as good as some of its rivals with a small amount of background sound leaking through, but the Beats Studio Wireless 3 provide a decent enough experience without any fuss.

Beats Studio 3 WIreless review
Inside the Beats Studio 3 Wireless is Apple’s new W1 chip which makes them incredibly easy to link to your iPhone, iPad and Mac devices.
Wireless headphones can often be a huge pain to connect and switching between devices often means having to press an array of buttons to reset the Bluetooth pairing.
As long as you have a relatively new iPhone or iPad you simply place the Studio 3 Wireless nearby to instantly connect.
Start using your Mac later in the day and, as long as you are signed into your iCloud account, the Beats will pair without too much hassle.
It’s clever stuff and certainly solves the usual and annoying connectivity issues of Bluetooth cans.
There is only one slight criticism if you do own an iPhone as Beats only bundle a standard 3.5mm headphone cable in the box with its Studio 3 Wireless.
This wire can be used when Bluetooth isn’t available or the headphones run out of juice but, with the iPhone not including a headphone port, it seems a strange decision not to package a Lightning cable that will connect via Apple’s unique charging port.

EXPRESS NEWSPAPERS
Sound quality is excellent although these headphones are made for bass
Being wire-free the Studio 3 Wireless need a battery to power them and Beats has managed to squeeze around 20-hours of life into one charge.
This fast-charging battery life is increased even further if you switch noise-cancelling off.
It’s hard to fault the power of Studio 3 Wireless with them easily lasting the longest of long-haul flights, but Beats has made a bizarre decision when you want to refill them with juice.
As we explained earlier in this review, Apple uses its own Lightning connection on its iPhones and USB-C on its new MacBooks, so why the Studio Wireless 3 are charged via the ancient, and soon to outdated, Micro USB has left us totally baffled.
It’s not a deal-breaker, it just makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
There is one other issue with these cans as they don’t automatically switch off so you need to make sure you tap the power button when you get home or you’ll face flat battery the next time you go to use them.
EX
There’s no question that the Studio 3 Wireless are a fabulous pair of headphones.
They’re solid, well built and are incredibly comfortable to wear.
If you like a bucket load of bass the sound is also excellent although this booming audio won’t be for everyone.
The noise cancellation is also very good and its adaptive technology means there’s no fuss switching settings.
Plus, if you own an iPhone or iPad you’ll love how easily they connect to all of your Apple devices.
The Studio 3 Wireless should be a five star product but there’s simply too many little niggles for them to receive our top score.
The controls on the side are irritating, the plastic look is not premium enough and Micro USB charging is just plain odd.
We also think there’s better noise-cancelling headphones on the market for similar money.
If you love all things Beats you really won’t be disappointed as the Studio 3 Wireless are excellent they just won’t be to everyone’s taste.

Microsoft is shaking up its consumer-oriented e-mail offerings, further improving the value of its Office 365 subscriptions as it continues to push customers away from perpetual licenses.
Features formerly part of the Outlook.com Premium scheme, an annual subscription to Microsoft’s consumer e-mail and calendaring service, are now rolled into the Office 365 Home and Personal subscriptions. But there’s a downside to this: Outlook.com Premium is being discontinued (as spotted by Paul Thurrott). At least for now, that service includes features not found in Office 365 Home or Personal.
Consumer editions of Office 365, unlike their corporate counterparts, don’t come with an Exchange account for e-mail. Rather, Microsoft’s consumer e-mail solution is Outlook.com, an ad-supported free-mail provider. Separately from Office 365, Microsoft also sold Outlook.com Premium. This removed the ads, increased the size of your inbox, and allowed the use of Outlook.com mail with a custom domain name.
