Antiques Roadshow aired on BBC One last Sunday, and it saw a rather tense moment involving expert Ronnie Archer-Morgan.

The expert was shown a bronze statue which he believed was made just before the First World War.

The owner then revealed that it was left to her by a great friend, and it was given to him by his father.

However, expert Ronnie found it too special a piece to put a definite price on.

Ronnie began by revealed that it was linked to the Adriatic shore of Corfu, and he said: “I know that shore.

“A friend of mine’s got a villa where the land of the villa runs down to the shore at Corfu and looks across the sea to Albania which is where this man retreated from the Kosovo offensive in the first world war in 1918.”

It was after that when Ronnie went on to reveal that he thought it was too almost impossible to put a price on.

The expert said: “I think it’s amazing, and I think it’s a little irreverent to value something that packs such a powerful message as this so beautifully.”

However, Ronnie’s job on the Roadshow is to value items such as these, so he did end up giving the statue a price, and the owner was delighted by it.

Ronnie said: “But that’s what we do on the Roadshow.”

As he demonstrated the model, he said: “What we have is the moon running around the earth.”

The expert finally asked: “Do you have an idea of value at the moment?”

“Not at the moment,” they replied, to which Ben revealed that it was worth a staggering £50,000.

“That does make it special. Thank you very much,” the shocked brothers replied.

Canadian biathletes dominated the IBU Cup women's 7.5-kilometre sprint on Saturday in Austria, led by winner Nadia Moser of Whitehorse, who earned her first-ever podium finish.

The 21-year-old shot clean on both ranges and was quick on the track in Obertilliach, crossing the finish line with tears of joy in 20 minutes 43.4 seconds.

Calgary's Megan Bankes placed third behind Russia's Natalia Gerbulova, 7-10ths of a second behind Moser.

Emily Dickson of Burns Lake, B.C., was 58th and Calgary's Darya Sepandj 91st.

7th in super sprint final

Moser has demonstrated significant improvement in her performance this week.

After placing 69th in the women's 15 km individual on Wednesday, she climbed to seventh in Friday's super sprint final, 18.8 seconds off the winning pace of Sweden's Felicia Lindqvist.

Moser and Bankes are among eight Canadians on the World Cup circuit, but dropped down to the IBU Cup tour this week.

In the men's 10 km sprint on Saturday, Aidan Millar of Canmore, Alta., was the top Canadian in 33rd (24:21.3) followed by Adam Runnalls of Calgary (41st, 24:32.4), Carsen Campbell of Central Bedeque, P.E.I. (48th, 24:36.4).

Canada's Ivanie Blondin captured her second medal of the weekend at a World Cup speed skating event in Tomakomai, Japan, on Saturday.

The Ottawa native won bronze in the women's mass start in a time of eight minutes, 52.260 seconds, just one-hundredth of a second behind the silver time of Italy's Francesca Lollobrigida.

Canada's men's team sprint squad captured the country's first medal at the season-opening speed skating World Cup event on Sunday in Obihiro, Japan.

The team of Laurent Dubreuil, Christopher Fiola, Antoine Gelinas-Beaulieu and David La Rue finished the event third in one minute, 20.98 seconds.

The Dutch took gold in 1:19.780 while Norway won silver in 1:20.790.

"The race was really good," said Fiola. "The other teams were really fast, but we still managed to get the bronze medal. It's really encouraging for the World Cups to come and we know we can do even better."

Blondin 4th in 3,000m

Canada came fifth in the ladies' team sprint, behind a podium that included Russia, Japan and the Netherlands. Calgary's Kaylin Irvine, Winnipeg's Heather McLean and Ottawa's Ivanie Blondin posted a time of 1:29.540 and netted 80 points.

After a fifth place finish in the ladies' mass start race on Saturday, Blondin earned another impressive result on Sunday, this time a fourth-place finish in the ladies 3,000 metres.

The two-time Olympian, who won a pair of World Cup medals in the distance last season, completed the race in 4:07.139 and occupied the bronze medal position going into the final pairing. She was bumped off the podium by eventual silver medallist Natalia Voronina of Russia, who posted a time of 4:05.023.

Ottawa's Isabelle Weidemann skated a time of 4:07.139 and finished ninth. It marked her second top 10 result of this World Cup, the first an eighth-place finish in yesterday's mass start.

Bloemen cracks top 15 in 5,000

Dubreuil earned his third top 10 result of the weekend — a seventh-place finish in the men's 1,000  — with a time of 1:09.606. He had previously finished fifth in the 500 metres (1) and ninth in the 500 (2). Gelinas-Beaulieu was also amongst the top 10 skaters in the men's 1,000 metres, finishing in 10th position with a time of 1:09.833.

Russia's Pavel Kulizhnikov won the men's 1,000-metre race, clocking in at 1:07.85 seconds to finish 0.54 seconds ahead of Kjeld Nuis of the Netherlands. Thomas Krol, also of the Netherlands, took the bronze with a time of 1:08.62.

Krol's compatriot Patrick Roest won the men's 5,000 metres and the Netherlands also claimed top honours in the team sprint event.

In the men's 5,000, reigning Olympic silver medallist and world record holder Ted-Jan Bloemen of Calgary posted a time of 6:28.647, ranking him 13th overall.

Austrian Vanessa Herzog won the women's 1,000 with a time of 1:14.56, edging local favourites Nao Kodaira and Miho Takagi.

Esmee Visser of the Netherlands clinched her career first World Cup victory in the women's 3000 metres with a time of 4:04.60. Russia's Natalya Voronina took the silver while Martina Sablikova of the Czech Republic won the bronze. Russia took home the women's team sprint gold.

Canada's women's rugby sevens team beat host France 17-10 on Sunday for the bronze medal at the HSBC Paris tournament while the Canadian men placed fourth after a 38-5 loss to New Zealand.

Bianca Farella scored two tries and Ghislane Landry and Charity Williams had the others on the women's side.

Mike Fuailefau had Canada's lone try for the men, who equalled their season-best result of the World Series with fourth place.

The Paris event is the last stop for both the men and women on the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series. Teams will now gear up for the Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco in July.

The New Zealand women won in Paris, defeating rival Australia 33-7 in the final. But Australia took the season crown with 92 points ahead of New Zealand (90), France (68) and Canada (60).

The Canadian women had finished third in the World Series four times in the previous five seasons. It was runner-up the other year.

Canada beat the U.S. 26-24 in the quarter-final Saturday, ensuring a finish ahead of the Americans in the standings.

The Canadians dropped a 34-7 decision to New Zealand in Saturday's semifinal, taking them out of contention for gold.

South Africa beat England 24-14 in the men's final, moving past Fiji to claim the season crown with 182 points. Fiji was second (180) and New Zealand third (150).

The Black Ferns beat Australia 33-7 in the final World Rugby Women's Sevens Series of the season in Paris, however Australia won the overall series title. 36:23

The Fijians came into Paris having won 25 games in a row. But they could only go 3-2-0 in Paris.

Fiji won five of the 10 events, with South Africa taking two. But the Blitzboks were more consistent, reaching the podium eight times.

Canada's men placed ninth in the final standings, thanks to quarter-final appearances in London and Paris — the final two stops. The men finished eighth in 2016-17, 13th in 2015-16, ninth in 2014-15 and sixth in 2013-14.

The Canadian men advanced to the semis with a 19-5 win over Ireland in the Cup quarterfinals earlier Sunday, then lost 26-12 to England to fall to the bronze-medal match.

Nathan Hirayama had a try and two conversions to lead the Canadian squad against Ireland.

The men also finished fourth in Cape Town, losing to host South Africa in the bronze-medal game in the second stop of the Series.

They placed 11th in Dubai, 13th in Sydney, 11th in Hamilton, New Zealand, 10th in Las Vegas, 14th in Vancouver, 10th in Hong Kong and 10th in Singapore (where it won the previous season).

This season, the Canadian women were fourth in Dubai, third in Sydney, Australia, 11th in Kitakyushu, Japan, — where injuries played havoc — and fifth in Langford.

Canada’s Collin Cameron added to his Paralympic biathlon medal total with a bronze in the men’s 15-kilometre sitting race on Friday in Pyeongchang, South Korea. 

The 29-year-old of Sudbury, Ont., crossed the line in a time of 50 minutes 59.1 seconds while incurring only a single shooting penalty to finish just behind Germany’s Martin Fleig and American Daniel Cnossen. 

Cameron sped to a bronze medal in the men’s 15km sitting biathlon event, matching the bronze he captured in the 7.5km race.0:24

Cameron claimed his first-ever Paralympic medal on the opening day of competition, racing to bronze in the 7.5 km event.

He also had fourth and fifth-place results in cross-country.

In the women’s 12.5 km standing race, Brittany Hudak of Prince Albert, Sask., earned another bronze for Canada with a time of 41:20.7. 

It was the 24-year-old’s first Paralympic medal, having finished fifth and eighth in two earlier races.

Alana Ramsay continued Canada’s para alpine success at the Paralympics on Sunday in Pyeongchang, South Korea with a bronze medal in the women’s standing super-G. 

Calgary’s Ramsay reached the podium in a time of one minute 35.20 seconds behind France’s Marie Bochet and Germany’s Andrea Rothfuss. 

Mollie Jepsen of Whistler, B.C., who earned Canada’s first medal on Day 1 in the downhill event, finished fourth. 

Toronto’s Erin Latimer and Mel Pemble of Victoria B.C., finished ninth and 11th, respectively. Montreal’s Frederique Turgeon did not finish.

The Brit went into the competition as a possible contender to pick up a medal but after two runs he sat down in eighth.

Heading into the final run, Morgan had nothing to lose and everything to gain and he pulled off a magical routine with a double grab to move up into the medal positions.

Morgan punched the air as he nailed the landing and awaited the scores from the judges.

And he couldn’t quite believe it as he was given a 85.50 that proved good enough for bronze.

Then it was a nervous wait as other jumpers competed to take third place away from him.

Max Parrot was the final one to go, a silver medallist in the slopestyle at this Olympics, but he choked on his final jump, leading to scenes of jubilation from the British section of fans.

In picking up the bronze, Morgan ensured Great Britain achieved their greatest ever medal haul at a Winter Olympics with five.

Sebastien Toutant won gold for Canada while USA’s Kyle Mack finished in second for silver.

Dom Parsons (bronze), Lizzy Yarnold (gold), Laura Dees (bronze) and Izzy Atkins (bronze) are the other medallists for Great Britain in Pyeongchang so far.
