“It’s going to make me cry,” Cat said as she watched the birth play out on-screen.

And Adam got to grips making sure everything was safe and sound for the ewe and her newborn lamb.

However, the heartwarming miracle of life appeared to bypass a number of viewers at home who weren’t best pleased to be watching the graphic scenes play out.

“Who the hell thought it was a good idea to show a lamb being born on breakfast tv? Breakfast means breakfast… not sheep juice whilst I’m eating my Shreddies. @lorraine #GMB,” one fan vented.

The piece Charlie was discussing was from today’s national newspapers, and he spotted a positive story.

He said: “On the theme of the outdoors, some of the negative stuff about people being outdoors was about the litter, and too many people getting together.

“On a slightly lighter note in relation to people going outside – the countryside code, which is a good thing, all the stuff people maybe know about, like shutting a gate and keeping your dog under control, don’t litter – in amongst all the advice now they’re talking about part of the new code.

“Which is to make other people feel more comfortable – the idea is that you should smile more. Some people feel as though the countryside is not a place for them so you can do something and make a difference.”

Naga’s BBC colleague Huw Edwards has since rushed to defend the 46-year-old following the criticism she has faced online.

The Welsh BBC News journalist took to Twitter to issue a humorous jibe at the incident while joking that he will now be presenting the programme in front of the Flag of Wales in light of the debate. 

However, his post has now been deleted “by order”, Huw has since claimed.

Huw initially shared a photo of himself, which he had edited so it seemed like he was hosting the news with the flag’s famous red dragon behind him.

He penned alongside the parody snap: “Flags are now mandatory — very pleased with my new backdrop for @BBCNews at Ten.”

Express.co.uk has contacted the BBC asking for comment.

Appearing via video link on Saturday’s BBC Breakfast, Steve Backshall surprised one of his biggest fans, young conservationist Aneeshwar Kunchala, who appeared alongside his dad. Although, when hosts Jon Kay and Rachel Burden were trying to conduct the interview, things took an unexpected turn. As broadcaster Steve spoke with Aneeshwar about his favourite animals, his toddler son got a bit jealous and tried to get his attention. In a bid, to get involved Steve’s son climbed up onto his lap and gatecrashed the interview.

Just as presenter Jon Kay was asking Steve what he thought about Aneeshwar’s passion, Steve’s young son came into shot.

“I think one of the most exciting things, right now – this period in history – is that we’ve got this new wave of young activists and I’ve got one at my feet right now, actually,” Steve explained as he pulled his son on to his lap.

Jon and Rachel laughed as they saw the funny side of the mishap, although, poor Steve stepped in to apologise.

“I’m sorry about that,” he continued. “That wasn’t planned.”

Continuing with the interview, Steve added: “I think YouTube and social media has such a powerful part to play in this new wave of activism.

“He is right at the perfect time, the perfect place and it’s standing up to say, ‘I want to make a difference, I want to make the planet a better place’. It does my heart proud.”

Steve went on to apologise again as his son continued to make noises over the interview.

Jon bowed his head as he tried not to laugh, while Rachel tried to continue with their questions.

She asked: “Aneeshwar, I wonder if there is anything or anywhere that you want Steve Backshall to explore, where would you go if you could go anywhere in the world?”

Aneeshwar asked his hero about the insect Tardigrades, and just as Steve went to answer, his son gatecrashed the interview again.

“I’m covered in children,” Steve laughed. “I’m sorry.”

“Aneeshwar, you probably can’t see what’s happening at the moment,” Jon weighed in.

“But, Steve’s own child is getting jealous of all the attention that he’s showing to you I think.

“It’s basically Steve Backshall, childcare on BBC One right now.”

Taking to Twitter after the segment, viewers luckily saw the funny side of the interview, with many commenting on how adorable Anesshwar is.

One tweeted: “Full credit to Steve, one child on top of him while advising another on Zoom on live TV.”

Another joked: “@SteveBackshall what a fantastic interview on BBC Breakfast inspiring children to be environmentalists while wrangling your own.”

While one added: “Best feature I’ve seen in a long time on BBC Breakfast. When conservative turns into Steve Backshall daycare.”

Dr Véronique Trillet-Lenoir told BBC Breakfast that the French Government was seeking reassurance over the safety of the Oxford/Astrazeneca vaccine as the MEP defended the suspension of the jabs rollout in the EU for “caution and safety.” Her remarks come as numerous European governments announced a temporary ban on the drug after cases of blood clotting raised safety concerns. Ms Trillet-Lenoir comments sparked a furious backlash on social media and Britons questions the “political” motivation behind the vaccine freeze.

The French politician said: “In European countries, we have noted a few cases where the existence of the thrombosis is atypical in its presentation and location.

“This is why caution and safety require that we suspend for a very short time giving the experts the opportunity to go into details on the case report and probably reassure as tomorrow through the voice of EMA.”

The European Medicines Agency is set to publish further guidance regarding the AstraZeneca vaccine but as maintained throughout that the doses benefits outweigh any potential health concerns.

France, Italy and Germany are among 17 EU countries including Ireland, Latvia, Austria, Lithuania, Estonia, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Bulgaria to have halted the administration of the drug this week.

Viewers took to social media to vent their dismay at the decision by the European capitals seeing the ban has a further attempt to distract from the EU’s own vaccination programme mismanagement.

One wrote on Twitter: “EU decisions are a clear indication that large organisations are lacking in prompt leadership.

“Reflect on the failings of chain stores who lose touch of individual customer needs and close down.

“Big is not beautiful in these circumstances. Thank goodness the UK has left the EU.”

“Jealous EU out to discredit UK vaccination success – simple as that!” blasted one more.

Elsewhere someone added: “They’ve already had that reassurance from the European Medicines Agency.

“This is a campaign by Europe to undermine the UK vaccination programme.

“We cannot be seen to be successful.”

Naga was left in stitches by his reaction to her joke.

After Charlie’s low guess of 31, Owain thanked the “great lighting in this studio” and revealed he actually just turned 37.

One Twitter user described him as “a breath of fresh air” and said they “loved the delivery and presentation” of his weather report.

A second wrote: “Loving the new happy, happy weatherman on @BBCBreakfast.”

A third added: “Worth watching the programme for you.”

A number requested to see “more of him please” because they felt he made “even a horrible forecast fun to watch”.

Owain’s popularity led to speculation about his future on BBC Breakfast.

Before Owain became a hit on BBC Breakfast, his mother was worried about him being verbally attacked for being gay. 

In 2014, the star told Wales Online that he was “concerned” about coming out to his parents and feared the “difficult” interaction.

Owain, who was surprised by how supportive they were, said: “They have been amazing. 

“It was quite a shock at the beginning because they did not expect it.”

Owain claimed his mother was “shocked” when he told her because “she had never thought” he was gay.

He recalled: “My mum told me… that it did not affect who I was.”

However, knowing of her son’s ambitions to become a TV presenter, she gave him some advice about how to conduct himself.

Owain recalled: “She warned me to be careful at what I did in life.”

Wales Online claimed her worries were “because of his job” – which would make him a nationally-known figure.

They wrote: “She was worried her lad might get negative press.”

The response suggested she had concerns that the public might not accept him because of his sexuality. 

Thankfully, Owain claimed to have encountered very few troubles – the majority of which were online.

Since working on TV, he claimed his mother need not have been so worried.

Owain said: “No one was bothered and it was not even an issue.”

The BBC Breakfast star married his husband Arran Rees four years ago and has made no secret of their hopes to adopt one day in the future.

Mr Hancock, 43, sparked uproar a couple of weeks ago when he told the public he had booked a holiday to Cornwall for the summer, despite the UK still being in a national lockdown. With Transport Secretary Grant Shapps, 52, and Prime Minister Boris Johnson, 56, urging people not to make plans at the moment, the Health Secretary was put under the spotlight by BBC Breakfast host Charlie Stayt, 58. Taking to Twitter, those watching the BBC news segment at home weren’t too impressed with the line of questioning.

One wrote on the social media platform: “Well @BBCBreakfast are really as rubbish, as usual, this morning. Obsessed with this c**p about booking holidays.

“There is a pandemic on, or has nobody told you yet #bbcbreakfast #bbc,” they continued, with a second adding: “Man books holiday on the off chance he can take his family on holiday…as we all want to do. Not news, move on…#bbcbreakfast.”

A third commented: “Do we really give a s**t about whether someone has booked their holiday or not!! #BBCBreakfast Just how pedantic can it get!!”

“What a load of s**t useless questions #BBCBreakfast,” a fourth remarked.

However, not everyone was opposed to the direction of the interview, as another added to the debate: “Well done Charlie, proper interview with @MattHancock not interrupting but coming back to the original question if it’s not answered #bbcbreakfast.”
