Welsh health minister, Vaughan Gething, 46, also seemed to suggest the royal tour shouldn’t flout travel restrictions.

The First Minister said on Monday that images showing the apparent lack of social distancing at packed pubs “made me want to cry”. She warned a cluster of new cases in Aberdeen is “exactly what we feared when we reopened hospitality”. But appearing on ITV Good Morning Britain, Emily Hewertson blasted Nicola Sturgeon‘s apparent message to younger people enjoying the easing of lockdown restrictions in Scotland.

The young commentator blasted: “Do you want to know what makes me cry?

“All the jobs opportunities that young people are’t going to be able to get because of COVID.

“I think young people really have the bad end of the deal here.

“A lot of grads can’t get jobs now and are having for fork out of master’s.

“I think young people are in a really difficult position and at the end of the day, only two percent of COVID deaths came from people under 50.

“And a lot of those deaths were people who had underlying health conditions.”

The First Minister has repeatedly warned Scots the move to the final phase could take longer and said on Monday that phase three will continue for the “foreseeable future”.

Speaking at the Scottish Government’s coronavirus briefing in Edinburgh on Monday, she said: “One of the criteria we’ve got to satisfy ourselves of to go into phase four is that the judgment is that this virus no longer presents a significant threat to public health and we’re not there yet right now.

Despite saying there will be no wholesale move to phase four, the First Minister announced a number of indicative dates for the easing of some restrictions.

If the virus continues to be suppressed , outdoor mass gatherings and contact sports, funfairs, amusement arcades, bingo halls and pool halls will be allowed to reopen on August 24, along with the resumption of driving lessons.

On September 14, gyms, swimming pools, indoor live events, sports stadiums and indoor sports courts will be able to begin again.

TV legend John Challis criticised plans to censor classic British sitcoms like Only Fools and Horses for being “offensive” to modern audiences. British streaming service Britbox – a subscription service led by the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 – was launched earlier this month. However, its decision to “censor” and attach sensitivity warnings to shows that could offend modern sensibilities have drawn widespread criticism.

The bespoke warnings will label specific episodes – with one Only Fools and Horses episode and almost every episode of Fawlty Towers impacted.

Only Fools and Horses star John Challis spoke out against the move during an appearance on the Jeremy Vine show this morning.

Challis questioned why it was right that a show like Only Fools and Horses, that was “still enjoyed by hundreds every day”, could be taken down because it offends “two or three people”.

He recommended that people who are offended by these programmes “simply choose to not watch them”.

Challis said: “Well Only Fools and Horses still shows every day.

“But, jokes in that show that used to get an enormous laugh at the time 30 years ago now don’t. Is that acceptable now, or not?

“Hundreds of people who watch the show I was in, and think what a relief, we can laugh at that.

“What has happened to comedy now because you can’t say anything that might offend one or two people. Is that right?”

Till Death Do Us Part includes the bigoted character Alf Garnett, while Love Thy Neighbour features a West Indian couple who move next door to a white English couple.

An ITV spokesperson added: “We’ve carefully selected a wide range of the very best in British programming which will appeal to viewers in 2019.”

Following the launch of BritBox, a spokesperson confirmed that the “vast majority” of British shows will disappear from Netflix within the next year.

Reemah Sakaan, the ITV executive leading Britbox, acknowledged that “changing tastes” were a factor in the selection process and some material had not aged well.

A grinning Pete Davidson caught hell online for making fun of a wounded Navy SEAL and congressional candidate, saying his eyepatch made him look like a “hitman in a porno movie.”

As part of a Saturday Night Live segment mocking the physical appearance of –mostly Republican– midterm election candidates, Davidson singled out former Navy Seal and Texas congressional candidate Dan Crenshaw, who wears an eyepatch since an IED blast almost took his sight in Afghanistan.

“You may be surprised to hear he’s a Congressional candidate from Texas,” Davidson said, “and not a hitman in a porno movie.”

“I’m sorry, I know he lost his eye in a war or whatever,” Davidson added as the audience laughed, before giggling himself.

Davidson moved swiftly on, but conservatives on Twitter were unamused.

The National Republican Congressional Committee demanded an apology from Davidson on Sunday, releasing a statement saying “Getting dumped by your pop star girlfriend is no excuse for lashing out at a decorated war hero who lost his eye serving our country” – a reference to Davidson’s high-profile breakup with singer Ariana Grande.

According to his campaign website, Crenshaw was hit by an IED blast while on his third deployment in Afghanistan in 2012. The blast completely obliterated Crenshaw’s right eye and left him blind in the left, but doctors were able to restore his sight in this eye. Following his injury, Crenshaw deployed twice again, once to the Middle East and once to South Korea.

Among the other candidates insulted by Davidson on Saturday were Florida Senate candidate Rick Scott, who “looks like someone tried to whittle Bruce Willis out of a penis,” and Greg Pence –the vice-president’s brother– who was compared to “a Ken doll that spent a year in the river.”

Davidson, however, also mocked his own appearance too, saying he looks “like I make vape juice in a bathtub.”

Back in 2006, Federer claimed Djokovic ‘cheated’ during Switzerland’s Davis Cup clash with Serbia, which the Swiss side won 4-1.

The pair have since intensified their rivalry by battling for all the major honours for well over a decade and they share 34 Grand Slam titles between them.

However, Federer and Djokovic repaired their relationship by teaming up to help Europe win the Laver Cup two weeks ago.

And now Srdjan has slightly changed his opinion of the 20-time Grand Slam winner after watching him in Chicago.

“At the time I said that Federer was a great champion, but a little man. That’s what I am thinking today,” said Srdjan.

“Recently his attitude changed. He is even a coach, you saw him giving him (Novak) suggestions at Laver Cup.”

Following that initial Davis Cup clash 12 years ago, Federer said: “I do not believe at his injuries. I am serious, really. I think it’s not real when he has these injuries.”

Meanwhile, Djokovic opened up about how much he is enjoying being back on top form after a difficult 12 months out injured.

“I mean, look, tennis is a big part of my life. I enjoy the sport,” he said.

“I love this sport. I love competing, travelling, you know, being around people who care about me, who sacrifice their lives for me to be here and most of their time.

“I don’t take that for granted. I understand that many people who are not as fortunate as I am to do what they love to do. To be top of the world in this sport, it’s quite a remarkable, so I always try to remind myself of that.

“Tennis‑wise I’m going to, of course, as long as I have this passion for the sport, keep on going and keep on practising and working and hoping that I can win many big titles and stay No 1.”

Djokovic is back in action at the Shanghai Masters next week as he tries to close the gap on Rafael Nadal’s world No 1 ranking.

However, he will face stiff competition from defending champion Federer.

Mike Phelan says moody is undermining the rich heritage of the club with his sullen and negative approach.

Mourinho has endured a summer of discontent when he has been at odds with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward over transfer policy, various players and the media.

And Phelan thinks the former Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid manager’s confrontational attitude is causing many of his own problems, lowering morale in the squad and diminishing the good name of a club with a huge global fan base.

“Any manager of any big institution, which is what is, internationally, you have a role and a responsibility to give out the correct messages,” said Phelan, who was a player, coach and assistant manager under Ferguson.

“You don’t have to avoid conflict, but you certainly have to conduct yourself in a way which is befitting of the tradition of where you’re working, and that’s something you can do by keeping your own counsel and getting on with the job.

“But he [Mourinho] is a completely different character and he expresses himself in a completely different way.

“There are opportunities to say things and there are opportunities to keep it to yourself. He chooses one way, and with that there are consequences in what you say.”

To add to his problems Mourinho could claim the unwanted distinction of the becoming the first United boss since Ferguson in 1992-93 to lose two of the first three League games of the season if they are beaten by Tottenham at Old Trafford tonight (Mon) on the back of last weekend’s shock defeat at Brighton.

And Phelan believes turmoil at Old Trafford is playing into the hands of their neighbours City, who have established themselves as the No1 club in the city and country.

“There is fierce competition within the city,” added Phelan. “If United are at loggerheads within the club, it just helps fuel City’s cause more than anything else.

“That’s something they need to be very careful of, because City are a very big club now and they’re very well run.

“They know how to use certain situations, and unrest across the road helps. It can’t not be a help and they use it well.”

Phelan refuses to accept the notion however that Mourinho is laying the groundwork for an early exit with many people looking at his track record at previous clubs and suggesting he will not last the season – former United star Lee Sharpe has claimed he will be gone before Christmas.

“I don’t think so,” said Phelan, speaking to BBC’s Sportsweek. “You’re the manager of Manchester United, why would you want to leave that situation?

“But to be supportive of the team against Brighton, where we didn’t play well and lost the match, it gives you a fantastic feeling.

“I hope that feeling, that the players also feel it and that the players they are ready to give them everything they have.”

Despite his current problem, Mourinho remains an inspiration to Mauricio Pochettino, the Spurs boss admitted as he prepared to lock horns with him at Old Trafford.

“I have learned a lot of things,” he said. “For every single manager that is younger than him he was the inspirational manager.

“Of course he is an unbelievable manager and of course the circumstances that happen with myself and happen with different managers is always going to be up and down.

“I have a very good relationship with Mourinho from when I was a manager of Espanyol and I have full respect for him and the club of Manchester United.

“When you are manager, you are always in the spotlight no matter the club. People are always judging you and talking about your decisions. When you win all the people know you are so good, when you lose, everyone knows the manager is wrong. We are so exposed. In all clubs you feel similar pressure.

“So he has been inspirational – but then, like I say, I am younger than him!”

Mourinho is expected to make a raft of changes tonight with Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Nemanja Matic, Alexis Sanchez, Ander Herrera and Antonio Valencia all set to return to avoid a defeat that would only deepen the early season crisis.

Ronaldo turned his back on Real Madrid after nine successful years at the Bernabeu, joining Juventus in a £105million transfer last month.

The 33-year-old chose to leave the club after growing tired at club president Florentino Perez’s refusal to give him the same salary as the likes of Lionel Messi and Neymar.

Cristiano Ronaldo appeared to aim a dig at Real by praising Juventus as a ‘family’, recently saying: “Since I was a child, I looked at this team and I hoped one day I could play there.

“It’s the biggest club in Italy and one of the best in the world, so it was an easy decision. It’s different here, it’s like a family.”

Many interpreted that as Ronaldo suggesting Real Madrid was a club that lacked a family feel.

And Ramos has now hit back at his former team-mate for his comments.

The Real Madrid captain, speaking ahead of Los Blancos’ UEFA Super Cup showdown with Atletico Madrid, said: “Here we have always felt like a family, so I don’t know what he was talking about.

“We have had lots of success, which is because we are a family and he was part of that family, which we have continued to have.

“It’s obviously a negative when you lose a player like Cristiano Ronaldo, but we can continue to win and in Real Madrid’s history many have come and gone, but Real Madrid continue to win.

“No one is above Real Madrid, whatever happens Real Madrid will continue to live on and it was his choice to leave.

“The decisions are not mine to make, but the doors are always open to those that want to be part of Real Madrid.

“Losing Ronaldo was hard, but no player is above Real Madrid and we still have the hunger to improve and win more titles.

“The mindset we have is more important than any individuals in the team.”

Ronaldo also recently praised Juventus fans for the standing ovation they gave him in April.

“I felt surprised at first. I am used to following Juve and I like the club, but since that moment I liked them even more.

“I won’t say it was the key point in my decision, but every detail helps. It helps when you see the fans and club like you, the feeling is completely different.

“I don’t have a precise moment when I decided [to join]. During the years, we played a few times against Juve and I had a special feeling that the Italian supporters like Cristiano.”
