eBay is the world’s biggest online marketplace, with thousands of rare and valuable items on its books.

Among those items are rare coins, with eBay users looking to make big bucks from their small change.

The latest addition to the site is a rare 50p coin made to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Benjamin Britten.

The coin was listed this afternoon by eBay user “aimedawso_5” and is selling for an impressive £750.

Looking to attract potential buyers, the seller titled the listing: “50p UK Coin Collectable Benjamin Britten 2013 Commemorative Very Rare Circulated.”

The description reads: “Very rare coin, excellent condition.

“Coin does not look used.”

Boasting 100 per cent positive feedback, the seller has listed the coin for a seven-day auction.

Considering offers lower than £750, the coin has the option for potential buyers to “make an offer”.

Only listed for a short time, the 50p has already become a “hot item” on the site, attracting three views per hour.

The coin was minted in 2013 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Benjamin Britten.

Benjamin Britten was a British composter, best known for his works including the opera Peter Grimes, the War Requiem and the orchestral showpiece, The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra.

The unique coin was the first ever UK 50p to show both date and denomination on the obverse.

Designed by Tom Phillips CBE, it had a mintage of 5,300,000, with the coin still very much in circulation.

With such a high mintage the coin is actually considered “common” by scarcity index website, Change Checker.

Yesterday, another rare 50p coin was actually sold on eBay for a whopping £1,620. 

The coin was part of the Beatrix Potter collection and featured an engraving of one of her most beloved character’s, Peter Rabbit.

Selling for 3,240 times its intended 50p value, the coin was sold as a: ”Peter rabit 50p coin 2016 (rare collectable) (sic).”

The description read: “Peter rabbit 50p. Very good condition. Rare and collectable.”

While little other information was given, the coin managed to fetch its full asking price.

Who is representing Sweden at Eurovision 2018?

Representing Sweden at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest is singer Benjamin Ingrosso.

The 20-year-old vocalist will be performing the song Dance You Off.

Well-known in his native Sweden, the singer participated in national talent contest Let’s Dance in 2014 and on Melodifestivalen in 2017 and 2018.

The latter is the country’s contest which determines who will be sent to represent Sweden in the Eurovision each year.

After an unsuccessful run in 2017, Ingrosso was chosen by the public for this year’s competition back in January.

According to Eurovision: “Born in Sweden on the outskirts of Stockholm and raised with a strong tie to his Italian heritage, it didn’t take long for Benjamin to find his feet within the world of entertainment.

“It served him well, for by the age of nine he had already penned his first gold-certified hit.”

The prolific young artist takes inspiration from greats such as Hall & Oates, Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson.

Speaking about his music style he said: “There’s a lot more ways to show the world what you’re all about.

“I don’t want to just be an artist. I want to be an entertainer.

“The number has to be something you really want to see and hear. It’s an experience that can play with all the senses.”

Ingrosso is one of Sweden’s most popular artists at the moment with a number of hist singles in the charts such as One More Time and Good Lovin’.

Currently, Betfair places Sweden at 14/1 odds of winning the entire Eurovision on Saturday.

Ingrosso wowed fans on stage at rehearsals this week with an impressive light show.

Bet fair spokesperson Katie Bayliss told Express.co.uk: “With the news that former Eurovision winners and possibly the most successful contestants ever – ABBA are reuniting this year, there could be plenty of talk around Sweden this weekend.

“They are currently 14/1 sixth favourites, with their odds having shortened from an opening 25/1.”

Left-back Mendy limped off during Saturday’s 5-0 destruction of Crystal Palace, which made Guardiola’s team the outright Premier League leaders.

Guardiola said of Mendy: “We are going to give him a test to see if he is able to play.

“Ilkay trained yesterday and so did Vincent, but neither is ready for Tuesday.”

Manchester City have won seven out of eight games in all competitions so far, but Guardiola has warned against complacency.

He said: “It is the seventh time I have played against Shakhtar in my career, once in the Super Cup and three in the Champions League, and every time before I have the same feeling.

“The first time we face in the group stage, my team went to see them and came back saying ‘wow’. My team were really impressed. Fernandinho played and Douglas Costa and they had a lot of Brazilians.

“In Barcelona all the time it was the same. ‘Shakhtar, Ukraine, who cares? Which players play? Nobody knows them.’

“I can assure you they were one of the best teams in terms of playing football. They had five or six Brazilians. Always was so tough for me.”

Lisa arrived at the Walford hospital where her daughter Louise Mitchell (played by Tilly Keeper) was being kept after she was brutally attacked at her school prom and left with third degree burns. 

The actress was rumoured to be making a comeback to the long-running soap and yesterday night . 

Now the 47-year-old has opened up about her return to the show and revealed the real reason she agreed to reprise her role as Lisa. 

“At first I wasn’t too sure because it is a chapter that was closed and it wasn’t something I’d thought about,” Lucy confessed. 

“You don’t live your life thinking ‘I wonder if’,” she continued. “I didn’t know how I felt about it and with having kids too, I didn’t know the length of time I was going to be back for. 

“But once I knew how fabulous the storyline was I was thrilled.”

A writer for the soap told the star exactly how her character would return and how she will face her ex Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden). 

“She called me personally and explained the journey that Lisa would have,” she continued to Mirror Online.

“She made it too good an offer to refuse. As soon as I spoke to her I said, ‘Okay, I’ll do it’.”

Lucy also teased fans of about what they can expect from Lisa in upcoming episodes. 

“There’s a lot of drama, there’s lots of twists and turns you don’t see coming,” the mother-of-two commented. 

“I think there’s lots of history and you’ll see a lot of old Lisa being played out. You’ll see that character there and ready to come out and do some stuff the viewers recognise from before.”

EastEnders continues on Monday on BBC One at 8pm.

Etihad bosses remain confident of landing Monaco star Mendy in a £54m deal – despite being accused of tapping-up his team-mate Kylian Mbappe.

City are one of three clubs that have angered the French outfit for making an illegal approach for the teenage superstar. But the Premier League side insist they have done nothing wrong and can still complete a deal for Mendy that would see him join Kyle Walker as the most expensive defender in world football.

City will also land Danilo from Real Madrid this weekend in a £30m deal after the full-back snubbed the chance of a move to Chelsea.

It is understood Danilo, 27, has agreed a five-year deal with City and the move will be confirmed within 48 hours.

The Brazilian international is in Los Angeles with Real but will leave their camp to have a medical.

Despite all their spending, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola hailed 17-year-old midfielder Phil Foden “a gift” after an eye-catching display in their 2-0 friendly defeat against Manchester United in Houston.

Foden, who has been associated with City since the age of six, was handed a maiden first-team appearance and was among City’s most impressive performers.

“I don’t have words. I would like to have the right words to describe what I saw,” said Guardiola. “You are lucky guys, believe me, you are the guys who saw his first game in the first team at Manchester City.

“I’ve not seen something like I saw today for a long time. His performance was another level. He’s a City fan and loves the club. He’s a gift for us. He’s special.

“He’ll stay training with us and maybe in the season stay with us,” added Guardiola.

Foden admits he has yet to fully appreciate the magnitude of his experience but is already hoping for another chance in City’s next game against Real Madrid.

“It hasn’t sunk it, it doesn’t feel real playing against players like Pogba. I’m only 17,” said Foden.

“I’d like to thank Pep for trusting me in a massive game like this, it’s a dream come true. He’s such a great manager and I’ve learned a lot from him.”

Mendy, 22, has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League with Manchester United and Chelsea said to be interested in him. 

However, Gianluca Di Marzio claim Liverpool have entered the race to sign Mendy as Jurgen Klopp looks to bolster his ranks ahead of a potential Champions League campaign next season.

It is claimed Klopp is interested in securing Mendy’s services and has made him a priority summer transfer target.

The Italian transfer guru also suggests Liverpool are in talks over bringing Fulham defender Ryan Sessegnon to Anfield. 

However, the Reds will not push through a deal to sign Sessegnon until they have tried to sign Mendy. 

But will face a fight to sign Mendy with and Manchester United also registering an interest in the France international. 

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is keen to bolster his defensive ranks ahead of next season and views Mendy as an ideal candidate to fit into his 3-4-3 system. 

And he would also provide healthy competition at full-back for Marcos Alonso.

While United boss Jose Mourinho has earmarked , who has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford. 

But United will apparently only stand a chance of signing Mendy if they secure Champions League football next season. 

Which is possible through the back door route with United needing to beat Ajax in the Europa League final to ensure they mix it with the elite once again next term. 

Mendy has made 39 appearances across all competitions for the newly-crowned Ligue 1 champions this season and has scored one goal.

Manchester United’s evergreen striker believes he is football’s answer to the fictional character who reverses the ageing process.

At 35, the Swede’s powers are showing no signs of waning. He broke the deadlock after 31 minutes against David Moyes’ doomed side with his 17th League goal for the club and set up Marcus Rashford late on after Henrikh Mkhitaryan had stretched the lead just 46 seconds after the break.

The win enabled United to leapfrog Arsenal – for 24 hours at least – into fifth and keeps alive their hopes of a top-four finish.

Ibrahimovic, who has the option of a second year at Old Trafford, reckons there’s plenty left in his tank.

“Of course, as I get older, I can’t move so well as five or 15 years ago,” he said. “But the older and more intelligent [I get], you don’t waste as much energy on things you don’t really need.

“My game is improving. I’m getting better and better. I feel like Benjamin Button. I was born old and I will die young.”

Mourinho is delighted United’s season is still alive on two fronts and while he is desperate to win the Europa League to qualify for the Champions League, he won’t give up qualifying through the Premier League.

He also singled out left-back Luke Shaw for special praise four days after accusing him of lacking a football brain.

Sunderland look doomed but Moyes, who has now sent his observations on ‘Slapgate’ to the FA, refuses to throw in the towel.

“We keep going until while it is still mathematically possible,” he said. “It’s even tougher for us now and we’re in a difficult position but we’ve a home game next so let’s get a bit of momentum.”

Moyes was unhappy with referee Craig Pawson for sending off Seb Larsson in the 48th minute.

“Seb got the ball,” he said. “It was not even a booking. The referee got it wrong.”
