Fall behind? Read our previous The Conners recap here. This week on The Conners, Dan loses his patience with Jackie’s unemployed boyfriend, while Darlene gets dating advice from an unexpected source. Dan is unamused when Jackie gets Peter a $ 3,000 Vespa for Christmas. He agrees to make the necessary repairs, but only for his sister-in-law’s sake. Down at the restaurant, Peter shows up to write Dan a check for the repairs, at which point Dan discovers that Peter and Jackie now have a joint checking account, despite the fact that Peter has nothing to contribute. And if that’s not enough to send Dan over the edge, Peter lets slip that Jackie’s paying for his college tuition. Dan proceeds to rip up the check, then accuses Peter of taking advantage of Jackie. He then threatens to pulverize this wannabe Frasier, who tries to stand up for himself by throwing his intellect in Dan’s face. The following day, Jackie comes over to write Dan another check, clearly perturbed that her brother-in-law meddled in her relationship. “All you do is give, and all he does is take,” Dan points out. But Jackie doesn’t see it that way, and assures Dan that her relationship is working. She then threatens Dan, saying if he winds up being the reason that this relationship doesn’t work out, she’ll move into his home and bring Bev along with her! Darlene, meanwhile, pursues a relationship with Ben. Becky tells Darlene that she and Ben are too similar to make it work, but Darlene is certain that she’s finally found the right guy. But when Ben invites Darlene over for a home-cooked meal at his place, the new couple gets into their very first fight; Ben refuses to let Darlene add salt to his recipe, and Darlene storms out. Afterwards, Darlene discusses her relationship with Blue, of all people, when David is unable to meet for coffee. Blue suggests to Darlene that she might find happiness if she gives up some control and allows Ben to lead in their relationship, an idea which Darlene struggles to entertain. At work, Ben apologizes for upsetting Darlene, and the couple debates whether two alphas can make a relationship work. They ultimately agree that it’s worth a shot, even if it turns out to be a disaster. What did you think of The Conners Season 1, Episode 7? Hit the comments with your reactions!

Now that summer is officially over, colder weather and shorter days are the new normal. While the change of seasons causes most fair-weather runners to trade in miles on the road for the comfort of indoor treadmills, New Balance is helping competitive runners and athletes stay on track through the fall and winter with a collection of apparel designed for cold weather.See the rest of the story at Business Insider

Children of war must develop far quicker than the average child. With danger lurking in every corner, Orphan Age revolves around keeping a band of kids, each with their own personalities, safe and sound through decisive efforts as you scrounge for what you need in a warzone. You’ll have to make tough choices to gather necessary resources and recruit extra hands to keep your base in tip top shape to have any hope of keeping these kids safe.
To keep your crew happy and healthy, you’ll have to scavenge for materials (food, water, medicine, and crafts), but these trips come with risk as players stumble across soldiers or other things that may injure them. This is made more challenging by the generated maps, which constantly forces you into the unknown. Also, the survivors come with different skills, ages, and backgrounds, varying what your kids can do and how they react to certain situations.
Back at home base it’s all about putting your scavenging rewards to use. Build beds, heaters, playgrounds – anything to fill the needs of the children. If you want to figure out how to build more complicated structures, researching can expand your knowledge. With a focus on building, risk-taking, and careful attention to the thoughts and mental states of your kids, Orphan Age is all about working together in a world divided, building a home with the future undecided.

A dark mystery lurks in the deepest floors of the dungeons of Moonlighter. Having the right equipment to survive long enough to get some answers requires cash, though! Luckily, you’ll be able to sell the rubbish you find in your dungeon crawling, and if you price it right, you’ll be able to turn a profit and arm yourself to the teeth.
Will is a shopkeeper by day and dungeon explorer by night. Wanting to prove himself as a hero and solve the mystery of the dungeons, Will takes a shot at the dangerous area and quickly discovers he’s going to need a lot of help (and funds) to do it. Basic equipment won’t help Will last long in Moonlighter‘s top-down combat, so players will need to defeat who they can, gather the goodies they drop, sell them, and use the funds to gain better equipment that will increase their chances of victory in the end.
Acquiring items to sell isn’t so easy (the rare ones, that is), as you’ll get them by defeating monsters. With a limited bag, you’ll have to pick and choose what you want to bring back from your dungeon exploration. Some items will be cursed as well, and you may have to make some hard decisions to keep them (like blowing up an item adjacent to the rare, cursed one). Then, you’ll need to price them just right in your shop to make the money you need to amass the gear needed to stay alive and solve that mystery.
With 5 dungeons to explore and profit from, you’ll be making millions and a name for yourself in no time!
You can purchase Moonlighter on Steam, GoG, Humble Store, Microsoft Store, or PlayStation Store. You can also check out developer’s Twitter and Facebook page.

(Welcome to Road to Infinity War, a new series where we revisit the first 18 movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and ask “How did we get here?” In this edition: Avengers: Age of Ultron takes a long, hard look at gods, monsters, and the humans in-between.)
How often do we ask ourselves why we created God and the Devil? We’ve been questioning our own existence for thousands of years – where we came from and what we’ll leave behind – so to have those ideas pumped into a $ 300 million superhero sequel, albeit to varying degrees of success, is something of note.
We’re well into Marvel being the biggest thing in popular culture with Avengers: Infinity War, but the questions asked by Joss Whedon’s medial crossover are of particular interest when it comes to the Avengers’ iconography. By 2015, our entertainment landscape had become dominated by the violent Übermensch in a visage of childlike fantasy, and it warranted artistic introspection.
Avengers: Age of Ultron is not some Watchmen-esque deconstruction; then again, neither was the 2009 Watchmen movie, which took straight from the pages of the 1986 comic series rather than drawing from the culture around it. Age of Ultron on the other hand came out a mere two years after the destruction debate post-Man of Steel, which focused largely on civilian causalities. Whether as response to the new tenor of superhero conversation or as a means to set up Captain America: Civil War (or both; the intent isn’t mutually exclusive), Age of Ultron places similar debates in its crosshairs, first by making its characters’ top priority the protection of civilians, and then by exploring the ways in which they ought to go about it. The film forces the Avengers to contend with their in-world legacy as a means to explore their fictional legacy on-screen.
It’s a narrative nexus, building on what came before while setting up Marvel’s future, as it attempts to define that very nexus for each of its characters. A mirror to our modern pantheon.

Our heroes have thus far been the resounding answer to this question in the form of a negative. In The Avengers, they stopped a nuke launched at New York City as a means of preventing global invasion. In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, they opposed HYDRA’s plan to take lethal preventative steps in order to achieve peace. When the decision wasn’t theirs to make, and when they opposed the extreme measures taken by shadowy governments, their heroism was clear. It’s an ugly idea that villains seem to answer all too easily (see also: Watchmen’s Ozymandias) but what of a situation in which our heroes themselves are forced to confront this question?
Tony Stark, the futurist who has trouble learning from the past, creates the Artificial Intelligence Ultron (voiced by James Spader). Ultron’s mission, logistically speaking, is peace. But it’s peace without conscience, not unlike HYDRA’s Project Insight, and peace with no care for people. Ultron has the tools to build and to destroy, but he’s a reflection of the Avengers without protective instinct. That protective instinct is granted to Jarvis, Stark’s A.I. who eventually becomes the answer to Ultron, but Ultron’s idea of harmony is a world where humanity is no longer around to muck things up.
To prove his point about the futility of human heroes – people he believes unworthy since they’ve all been killers at some point – Ultron raises the entire city of Sokovia miles in the air before planning to drop it like a meteor. The result would be human extinction, but the Avengers destroying this meteor before rescuing every Sokovian citizen on it would be a catastrophe too.
It’s the O.M.A.C. Project film we may never get from DC, a story of Global Security A.I. run amok that calls into question the responsibility of the superhero – only DC’s penchant for characters embodying abstract concepts is replaced by Marvel’s feet of clay. The seeds for this massive third act are planted throughout the film, with each Avenger having to contend with the nature of their past and how their actions could dictate their future. As much as Age of Ultron is about humans establishing humanity in the face of a soulless being, it’s about why those humans must establish their humanity if they’re to keep on being heroes, and characters with stories worth telling.

The film’s opening scene involves a glorious long-take, not dissimilar from the sprawling action in The Avengers’ New York climax. Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye and Hulk function as a single unit, as they partake in what they hope is their final mission against HYDRA. Loki’s scepter from their first film has been used for human experiments, and the Avengers believe it’s their job to intervene unilaterally. The citizens of Sokovia however? They aren’t so happy about these American heroes launching attacks on their soil. Sokovian graffiti portrays The Iron Man as a war profiteer, clutching guns and money in the background of a scene where his drones dictate terms of safety. The Avengers work as a group, but do they work within the world at large?
The Avengers are brought together by their desire to do good. However, they’re torn apart by the exacerbation of their fears a la Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), whose scepter-derived abilities fill our heroes’ heads with terrifying visions. Tony Stark sees his friends dead at his feet, as Earth is again left vulnerable to alien invasion. He’s unable to shake the idea that he should be doing more to prevent future catastrophe, so he proceeds to create Ultron without consulting the team.
Steve Rogers/Captain America, transported to a time shortly after World War II, is forced to question his place in a world without war. Even if he can go back to wanting love, a home and a family, things that were lost to him decades ago, would he be able to stop seeing evil and conflict at every turn? Spilt wine turns to blood. A celebration turns to violent disagreement. Maybe his experiences have left him too paranoid for a peaceful world. Maybe war is what he craves in the first place, and maybe the scars of war have left both Tony and Steve too vulnerable to trust one another.

You start off with your main station, which has certain demands that need to be met. “Bring us four units of wood and six units of cows!” And off you go, connecting your station to resource-producing buildings scattered all over the landscape with some fancy rails. Once you got a route set up, you can manually order your trains to and from these buildings.
If this sounds too easy, fret not: it gets complicated quite fast, with multiple production steps necessary before you can haul the goods back to your station. You’ll need to extend your rail network and delegate your little trains – all of this without causing an accident.
Depending on how efficient you’re trying to be, this is either a relaxing or a horribly stressful experience. You see, there’s a scoring system attached to each level. If you want to earn the highest amount of stars, you need to play extremely efficient and execute your planning without any hiccups. Some of the target times are incredibly hard to achieve and require perfect planning and impeccable micromanagement.
Currently, this is purely intrinsic, without your progress being tied to performing well. Just finish a level and you can play the next one, no “you need X stars to advance.” This makes Train Valley 2 incredibly accessible and at the same time offers a high challenge for players who strive for perfection.
The game just entered early access, so all of this might change quite a bit, but I’m hoping the way it handles difficulty stays just the way it is right now. There’s also a level editor and more levels, trains, and other stuff planned for the near future.
You can purchase Train Valley 2 from Steam Early Access for $ 9.99. For more information, visit the game’s website and follow developer Flazm on Twitter.

The Game Awards takes place on at 5:30 pm Pacific time Thursday. Now in its fourth year, the event gives gamers their chance to beat their chests about their favorite games, and it lets the industry honor those who created them. It also features revelations from some of the biggest game companies about the new games that are coming in 2018.
Geoff Keighley, awards’ host and organizer, said in an interview with GamesBeat that the show will feature world premiere announcements of two new games based on properties that players have never seen before. It will also feature announcements such as new map for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, one of the most popular new games of 2017 with more than 20 million copies sold. (Here’s the list of nominees).
“At least two games are brand-new game worlds that no one has ever seen before,” Keighley said. “It becomes a sport to guess which ones they will be.”
Keighley said the show at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles has evolved into something unique. It’s not the Oscars, as many people cast it to be to the annoyance of gamers, who don’t want their medium compared to other entertainment. It welcomes game fans among celebrities such as Conan O’Brien, but it’s not loaded with Hollywood celebrities who don’t understand or appreciate games.
“Because it represents our industry, a lot of thought and care goes into what we put into the show,” Keighley said. “How do we represent gamers? What’s the right tone? One incident is all it takes to become a meme on the Internet. It represents gamers and the industry, and if we are a little bit off, it misrepresents our industry and the people in it.”

“It’s not the Oscars. It’s not the GDC awards,” he said. “It’s The Game Awards. It’s a balance of awards and games that are coming in the future.”
All the major first-party game platforms and third-party game makers will show up and put competition aside for an evening, Keighley said.
Purists tell Keighley that it should only be about awards, but he said that polls suggest that gamers favor the revelations. The combination of awards and revelations gives the game creators the largest possible audience for their big moments.
“We’re going to bring out Carol Shaw, who was the first successful video game programmer of River Raid back in 1980,” Keighley said. “Her story has been lost in time. We’re going to bring her to the show, and millions of people will be able to understand her story because we have these world premieres.”
The show’s balance came over time, as past events have been criticized for some faux pas or snub. Some of the reaction to the initial pitch for The Game Awards was skeptical the first time around. Previously, the show aired on TV.
“We’re moving in the right direction and I don’t think we need to pivot,” Keighley said.

“In 2014, some of the reaction to my first pitch was whether it was worth it, since it wasn’t on TV,” Keighley said. “Is it even worth it? Now, four years later, it feels like we made the right choice. Now, people say it’s the new TV. You’re digital. Most of the partners feel like they don’t want to be on TV anymore. This is the way they can reach the whole world.”
Last year, viewership for the livestream and video on demand was 8.6 million viewers, up 65 percent. A big part of the growth was China, and so it’s no surprise that a category has been added for the “best Chinese game.”
Keighley said the categories have changed over time, and this year features a new student game award.
“We have trending gamer for influencers, and we are adding student game award, which is awesome,” he said. “Kids are coming from all around the world. We can make a difference. There’s a showcase for games for impact. We can recognize some games and really help them potentially succeed. Destiny and Call of Duty are going to be fine without The Game Awards, and they are a big part of the show. If you do all of the standard game categories, you get the same games getting nominated for everything. With new categories, it allows more diversity on stage.”
Indie games have a couple of categories this year, including best indie game and best indie debut game. The show also changed the eligibility requirements to allow Early Access games, as PUBG is still in Early Access on Steam and hasn’t officially been published yet. There’s also an award for best ongoing game, with nominees such as Grand Theft Auto Online, which has had big updates this year.
Above: Game of the year nominees for The Game Awards.
This year, the awards feature a performance by the band Phoenix, cellist Tina Guo, and a full orchestra. And it will have presenters such as Hideo Kojima of Kojima Productions, motion capture actor Andy Serkis (who is making a Planet of the Apes game), director Guillermo Del Toro (a close friend of Kojima’s), comedian Aisha Tyler (who has Ubisoft connections), and actor Jack Black (who voiced games such as Brutal Legend).
“These are folks that care about games and want to celebrate game creators,” Keighley said. “They are not just filling out another spot on their press circuit.”
I asked how the show would handle controversies like Electronic Arts’ loot crates in Star Wars: Battlefront II.
“We can reference some of that stuff and it would be wrong to not reflect the zeitgeist,” he said. “There could be a lot of snark about the industry in general, but I really want something that is positive and uplifting that celebrates our love of video games.”
The public is voting for the first time, and votes have climbed above 5 million across all categories. On Twitch, viewers can predict which game will win an award and Twitch will keep a running tally of who guesses the most accurately.
“We’re see the difference between what the jury picked and what the fans picked,” Keighley said. “With Twitch, it gamifies the show as you vote in real time. It makes it feel more interactive.”
Facebook will also broadcast the event live and influencer Andrea Rene will interview the winners as they come off the stage. The show will be broadcast in 4K on YouTube. Mixer will give away free games if you watch the show there.
“We let people watch it any way they want,” he said.

The 44-year-old Queen of Spain was photographed attending ‘The Art of Educating’ school programme at El Prado Museum with husband King Felipe VI of Spain.
The pair walked hand in hand in front of photographers and were all smiles for the cameras.
Queen Letizia wore a white cropped collarless jacket with three quarter length sleeves along with a chiffon white skirt which fell just below her knee.
Her nude-coloured stiletto mules had a large bow on the front and matched the colour of her clutch bag.
She finished off the look by wearing pillar box red lipstick and her hair down in loose waves.
During the royal visit to the Prado Museum, Queen Letizia and King Felipe VI met with a group of children and posed with some of the museum’s famous paintings.
The Prado Museum is the main Spanish national art museum, located in central Madrid.
It features one of the world’s finest collections of European art, sating from the 12th century to the early 20th century.
Before her marriage to Felipe, Letizia was a journalist and news anchor and clearly has an eye for fashion.
Former television news presenter Letizia first met the then Prince Felipe de Borbon at a colleague’s dinner party in 2002.
Soon after the pair met each another again while she was on assignment, covering a story about an oil spillage in northern Spain.
Romance blossomed and she gave up her career before marrying him during a lavish wedding ceremony in 2004.
Traitor Nightly has you juggling a few different tasks. You play as an interviewer questioning the Grandmaster of a game called ‘Traitor’, playing the game with them as you try to get truthful answers. However, depending on how well you do, you may find your subject altering their answers, forcing you to find a balance between playing well and finding out your interviewee’s story.
Traitor Nightly takes you to the Pharostine Empire, a fictional place which the developer describes as “Byzantine Empire crossed with the Ottoman Empire and 1920s America.” In this world, you’re playing a game with your subject, but as your do, you’ll find that the Grandmaster’s life is on the line should they lose. This can make talking to someone kind of difficult, as an interview subject who is dying because of you can be loath to give honest answers. You know how these things go.
Tasking players with deciding if story is more important than winning, or if the truth is meaningless if they have to lose for it, it challenges the player to not try their best, or treat games as a back-and-forth rather than something you purely play to win. It explores some of the social aspects of games, as well as the importance of winning and losing, all while in a rich empire with some sharp conversation and a board game that’s quite fun to play.
Traitor Nightly is available for $ 3.99 on Itch.io. For more information on the game and Subaltern Games, you can head to the developer’s site, or follow them on Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.
