Leading backbencher Jacob Rees-Mogg and other Brexiteer Tories have indicated their readiness to support Theresa May’s Brexit deal in order to prevent Britain’s departure from the bloc being sabotaged Remainer MPs. During a debate with Tory MP Nigel Evans and Independent MP Heidi Allen, the ITV Good Morning Britain host urged MPs to “grow a pair” and stand up for their principles instead of backing a Brexit deal they have once “trashed”. The Good Morning Britain presenter insisted he would respect Brexit-backing MPs more if they did not support Theresa May’s deal. He ripped into the politicians for not respecting the result of the 2016 referendum and said: “You all stood on a platform of representing the British public and right now you have all singularly failed, or rather, collectively failed.” Heidi Allen, who has repeatedly demanded a so-called People’s Vote, hit back and said: “Or perhaps we are trying to protect their futures. Does it occur to you that possibly the reason MPs are really struggling with finding a way through this is because in their hearts they know Brexit is going to make their constituents poorer?” In response, Piers blasted: “Yes but you know what? The trouble is that it didn’t say on the ballot paper that if you vote Leave or stay in you didn’t have all these little caveats, you know, you’re a Remainer MP and you can use the excuse it is bad for the people.” He added: “No deal is actually the purest form of leaving imaginable yet you have all taken it off the table so now we are left with a Theresa May fudge which everybody hates and now is all pretending is the best deal possible when you have been saying is a terrible deal. “So, forgive me if I have lost confidence.” The furious TV host then questioned Brexit-supporting MP Nigel Evans for announcing his support for Mrs May’s Brexit deal. Piers said: “It’s a load of baloney Brexit deal that everyone has been trashing. She has had two of the most destructive negative votes in the history of the House of Commons. “Nothing has changed, it’s the same thing.” Mr Evans replied: “I appreciate that but a lot of things have changed and one of them is that the Prime Minister took no deal off the table two days ago because she knows that Parliament will not vote for that. “So, the hierarchy. Extending Article 50 is that we fight the European Union elections. That would be appaling.” In response, Piers branded MPs as “unprincipled charlatans” following the Brexit U-turn. He said: “What’s going on now is just a shady load of people doing stuff to suit their own purposes and not actually principle.” The ITV host then warned the best way to solve the deadlock is a general election. He joked: “PM for PM.” Jacob Rees-Mogg, chairman of the influential European Research Group (ERG), publicly admitted MPs were now facing a choice of “deal or potentially no Brexit.” Speaking on a podcast on the Conservativehome website for Tory activists, he said: “Whether we are there yet is another matter, but I have always thought that no-deal is better than Mrs May’s deal, but Mrs May’s deal is better than not leaving at all.” The MP for North East Somerset added that “leaving the European Union, even leaving it inadequately and having work to do afterwards is better than not leaving at all”. Tory MP Michael Fabricant, who has previously voiced his concern about backing the deal, also indicated his willingness to switch sides. He said: “My fear is that if we don’t now back the withdrawal agreement – which frankly I feel very uncomfortable about, it’s not the best agreement we could have had by a long way – we’ll end up with this Remainer Parliament taking control of Brexit and giving us no Brexit at all in effect.” Mrs May is set to appeal to backbench MPs to back her deal during a meeting of the 1922 Committee of Tory backbenchers in the Commons on Wednesday afternoon. The Prime Minister admitted on Monday there was not yet enough support for her Brexit deal to bring it back before Parliament in a third meaningful vote. Mrs Mays’s spokesman said: “We will only bring it back if we think we have a reasonable chance of success. “The Prime Minister and her ministerial colleagues are working hard to try and build further support for her deal.” Since announcing their UK tour for 2019, The Spice Girls have sold over 600,000 tickets. It’s not surprising that they’ve had to add extra dates due to phenomenal demand to see them back together. And now the singers have replaced their “girl power” catchphrase with a call to “people power” in light of the divisiveness of Brexit. Speaking with The Sun, Emma Bunton said: “It’s people power. We’re about equality and bringing everyone together.” While Geri Horner spoke of backing the Prime Minister, who she said did not have an “easy position”. Ginger Spice added: “Britain, come together whatever it is, come together and sort our solutions out together, that’s the most important thing. “We don’t have to agree on politics, it’s bigger than that. “You can just support a woman doing the best she can and that’s it.” Meanwhile, Ticketmaster have confirmed The Spice Girls 2019 tour demand for tickets has broken records. At one point, a rep confirmed, over 700,000 people were in the online queue. The girls had announced six dates, which quickly became ten when demand proved to be exceptional. Andrew Parsons, managing director at Ticketmaster, said according to Metro: “Demand for Spice Girls was off the chart. They have smashed through Ticketmaster UK’s records becoming the busiest ever sale. “There were millions of people on our site searching for tickets, with a queue at one point of well over 700,000.” He added: “Hundreds of thousands of tickets were sold to happy fans across the country within minutes. Congratulations to the girls. “From what we saw, they could have played nearly every night for a year.” International tour dates are yet to be announced, but will no doubt be revealed in the near future. That is the view of Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure, who will go up against Pogba on Saturday. Pogba, the £89million Manchester United star, has been criticised for too many tricks and not enough consistency ever since he returned to the club in the summer of 2016. Pogba’s United future has had a cloud hanging over it this summer after his World Cup triumph with France, with rumours of a move to Barcelona and of a fallout with manager Jose Mourinho. But Doucoure, who played alongside Pogba in France’s youth teams from Under 17 to 21, believes the midfielder has always had this dash of devilment in him and that is what makes him such a brilliant player on his day. Premier League surprise team Watford, who have won their first four games, face Pogba’s troubled United tomorrow at Vicarage Road and could go top of the table for only the second time in their history if they win, which would pile more trouble on Mourinho and his team. But Doucoure said: “I played with Paul since the U17s. He was always the same. “He likes to show off a little bit. Both on and off the pitch. “He has this personality – because he is good on the pitch as well. It’s good for him. “Paul brings a lot of personality, and shows-off sometimes. But it’s good in to have that in football.” Doucoure, unlike Pogba, is yet to win a full cap for France. He added: “We still speak. I sent him a message after the World Cup to congratulate him. “He’s a very nice guy, very natural. Today there’s a different dimension, because he is a superstar, but he was always the same. “He liked to laugh, to talk about everything. “At Under 17 he was physically, the same as he is today. He was in advance of everyone else. “And he had his technique. He grew up in Italy, and he did very good things in England with United. “Of course, is a very important player for United now. We have to be aware of him, he will be very dangerous for us.” Doucore added: “We are in the best condition because we have a very good pre-season. “Everyone was involved, everyone come back with a good mentality. “Nobody complained about anything. We changed some details. “This year everyone here wants to be in the top 10. We think we can do something, we have a very good start. We just want more now.”

Mourinho has been told by executive vice chairman Ed Woodward that the club still believe he is the man to turn round their fortunes.
And he has also been told he will be backed there if he wants to strengthen his squad in the January transfer window after voicing his frustrations at United’s failure to land one of his defensive targets this summer.
Woodward is understood to have spoken with Mourinho immediately after Monday’s 3-0 defeat to Tottenham at Old Trafford – the heaviest home setback the former Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid manager has suffered in his career – to offer his support and that of the club’s American owners, the Glazer family.
It is also the first time that United, who launmched a new third choice pink kit on Tuesday, have lost two of their opening three League games since 1992. However, the board were impressed by the positive first half display, the effort of the players and the fact the fans did not turn on the team or the manager at the final whistle.
And it is understood they were delighted Mourinho made a point of standing in front of the Stretford End at the final whistle to thank the fans for staying behind the team.
The club also do not have any concerns over Mourinho’s worsening relationship with the media. Sources say they were well aware of his abrasiveness and volatility when they appointed him.
Mourinho, however, knows that results must improve – and quickly – because the minimum requirement for a Manchester United manager is to finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League.
They are already six points behind title pacesetters Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea and Watford who have all taken maximum points from their opening three games.
United will also be expected to qualify from their group and reach the knock-out stages of Europe’s top club competition – they will learn their group stage opponents when the draw is made in Monaco on Thursday – and make strong progress in both the domestic cup competitions.
United have never been ‘knee-jerk reaction’ club. They stuck with David Moyes for 10 months until there was no longer the possibility of qualifying for the Champions League and despite many fans turning against Louis Van Gaal’s style of football, they gave the Dutchman two years before dismissing him.
Despite winning the FA Cup in his final game, Van Gaal, like Moyes, was sacked because United had failed to qualify for the Champions League. Mourinho knows that is the bottom line for him.
United next visit Burnley on Sunday and a setback for Mourinho as he tries to cure his team’s defensive problems is that Phil Jones is likely to be out for at least three weeks after injuring a hamstring in his first outing of the season on Monday.
Jonathan and James from Omaha, Nebraska, are two such cases, and were in St. Petersburg on Tuesday to watch World Cup hosts Russia take on Egypt in their crucial Group A match.
The pair were defying the notion that Russia and the US are foes, and were backing the home team.
“We’re cheering for Russia,” said James, who was wearing a Stars and Stripes vest and bandana.
“Because the USA didn’t make it, we want to support the home team,” Jonathan added.
It’s the pair’s first trip to Russia, and they have been impressed with that they’ve seen.
“The people are very nice, the food’s great, the weather is now amazing, so it’s very good,” Jonathan said – as the skies cleared in St. Petersburg after a sudden downpour had drenched those on the way to Tuesday’s game.
The pair are also planning to visit Moscow on their Russian adventure, and have not been put off by some of the negative reports in the press back home.
“We think that’s propaganda between the governments, the people we like each other,” James said.
Jonathan added: “We have no reason to be afraid, everyone is smiling and welcoming us, there’s no reason to be afraid.”

In March 2017, Scott Pruitt, the new administrator of Donald Trump’s Environmental Protection Agency, appeared on CNBC and said that carbon dioxide was not known to be a major factor in climate change. “I would not agree that it’s a primary contributor to the global warming that we see,” Pruitt said, adding, “there’s a tremendous disagreement about the degree of the impact” of “human activity on the climate.”
The next day, a group called Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER) filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request with the EPA, asking for any agency documents that Administrator Pruitt may have relied on to come to his conclusions. Since Pruitt’s words contradicted scientific evidence shared by the EPA before the administrator took office, PEER’s request might turn up some recent document that indicated Pruitt had new information.
Instead, the EPA stalled and refused to provide any information to PEER. The employee group then sued the agency.

Journalist Max Blumenthal called out Democracy Now for pushing for regime change in Syria. The move sparked a war of words between guest Wendy Pearlman and others on Twitter.
Tweeting footage from a Democracy Now discussion about Syria, Blumenthal questioned the news outlet’s apparent backing of “the neocon project of regime change in Syria.” He also pointed to guest Pearlman’s earlier calls for the US to provide air cover to extremist groups in Syria, highlighting just how poorly that strategy worked in Libya.
If @democracynow is going to push the neocon project of regime change in Syria so relentlessly and without debate, it should drop the high minded literary NPR aesthetic and just host Nikki Haley for a friendly one-on-one #EstablishmentNowhttps://t.co/OOXmGRhTSc
— Max Blumenthal (@MaxBlumenthal) February 25, 2018
This “peace builder” & @democracynow guest has called on the US Air Force to provide air cover to US/UK/GCC-backed extremists dedicated to turning Syria into Libya. Of course, she would never even think about calling for the US military to protect Palestinians or give them arms. https://t.co/R3j3dmTorD
— Max Blumenthal (@MaxBlumenthal) February 26, 2018
In his critique of Democracy Now’s coverage, Blumenthal also invoked Pearlman’s 2014 call for the US to further arm the Free Syrian Army. Her article dismissed 12 common arguments against US intervention, including fears arms would end up in the hands of other extremists or that Syria would end up like Iraq and Afghanistan.
Indeed, it has since been revealed that those US weapons given to Syrian rebels did end up in Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) hands. The same thing happened when the US approved arming rebels in Libya in 2011 – the arms fell into extremist hands, and Libya remains a failed state.
The Twitter argument then switched to Palestine. A professor at Northwestern University and advocate of Palestinian non-violence, Pearlman has written two books on the Palestinian struggle for statehood. “Of course, she would never even think about calling for the US military to protect Palestinians or give them arms,” Blumenthal added to his criticism.
Pearlman is also a former fellow of the US Institute of Peace which, as RT journalist Dan Cohen noted, is a federally-funded organization to “promote international peace and the resolution of conflicts,” and whose board is appointed by the president. Pearlman replied that she received a dissertation grant from USIP with “zero political input or strings attached.” A 2016 article by former USIP vice president Daniel Serwer calling for the US to bomb Hezbollah if it didn’t follow its order to leave Syria was quickly shared by Blumenthal in response.
Pearlman was soon met with social media users pointing to the presence of Al-Qaeda and IS fighting Syrian government forces, while Blumenthal and others were accused of being Russian trolls for even questioning calls to arm militants.
Interesting transition from studying Palestinian non violence to zealously championing a unilateral American Air Force regime change war and the arming of jihadist proxies @dancohen3000https://t.co/7oPLSdirUX

The Palestinian struggle is for freedom, dignity, and human rights. The Syrian revolution is a struggle for freedom, dignity, and human rights. Support for one should demand support for the other.

Regime change shills who cheered as the US/UK/Saudi/Turkey/Qatar/Israel destroyed Syria — turning the country into a hellscape, unleashing genocidally sectarian Salafi death squads — really need to stop exploiting the Palestinian liberation struggle as a cheap talking point.
— Ben Norton (@BenjaminNorton) February 26, 2018
The time has long passed when regime change shills claimed they could support both Palestinian resistance and the Israel-backed Syrian opposition. Corporate media have for years admitted Israel supports Syrian rebels, including al-Qaeda.
This is shamelesshttps://t.co/t64UNR9dTK

That is a startlingly uninformed opinion you have there. Are you aware who #Assad has been fighting? Do you consider #ISIS and #AlQaeda to be bastions of human rights and dignity? Isn’t it incumbent upon you, as a journalist, to do some basic research before publishing anything?
