Enlarge / NASA’s Space Launch System rocket may be rolling back to the Vehicle Assembly Building on Sunday night, or maybe not. (credit: Trevor Mahlmann)
NASA on Saturday announced that it will no longer attempt to launch its Artemis I mission on Tuesday, September 27, as Tropical Storm Ian continues developing in the Caribbean Sea.
Instead of preparing the massive Space Launch System rocket for liftoff in three days, teams at Kennedy Space Center in Florida will instead start to configure the ground systems and vehicle for a potential roll back to a large hangar, the Vehicle Assembly Building. Sheltering inside this building would protect the $ 4 billion rocket and Orion spacecraft from any foul weather due to Ian.
Earlier, NASA had said it would make a decision by Saturday afternoon on whether to roll the Artemis I mission back inside the hangar. However, in its announcement on Saturday the agency said it would now make that decision on Sunday.

Just a day after an appeals court cleared the Justice Department to review classified records seized from Mar-a-Lago, the decision proved a setback not only for former President Donald Trump but also for one of his most prominent allies.
In Minnesota, a federal judge on Thursday rejected MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell's request for the return of his cellphone, which federal agents seized last week in the drive-through line of a fast-food restaurant. The ruling from Judge Eric Tostrud came only two days after Lindell filed a lawsuit demanding that the Justice Department return his cellphone and refrain from accessing data on the device.
Ruling against Lindell, Tostrud did not have to look far to find legal precedent backing up his conclusion that the phone should remain in the Justice Department's hands. A Trump appointee confirmed in 2018, Tostrud cited the recent decision from the US Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit that allowed the Justice Department to resume its review of about 100 classified records seized from the former president's South Florida home and private club.
In that decision, three-judge panel of the 11th Circuit overruled a lower court order barring the Justice Department from reviewing the classified materials. The 11th Circuit panel fully embraced the Justice Department's argument that a further delay in its review of the classified records could cause "irreparable harm" to the government and public.
"It is self-evident that the public has a strong interest in ensuring that the storage of the classified records did not result in 'exceptionally grave damage to the national security,'" the 11th Circuit judges wrote.
"Ascertaining that," they added, "necessarily involves reviewing the documents, determining who had access to them and when, and deciding which (if any) sources or methods are compromised."
The 11th Circuit panel included two Trump appointees — Judges Andrew Brasher and Britt Grant — along with Judge Robin Rosenbaum, an Obama appointee. In addition to sympathizing with the Justice Department's national security concerns, the panel appeared at a loss for why Trump needed access to the classified records seized from his South Florida estate.
"For our part, we cannot discern why Plaintiff would have an individual interest in or need for any of the one-hundred documents with classification markings," the judges wrote.
Rarely does an appeals court decision so rapidly grow legs that it is cited in a separate case within 24 hours. But Tostrud found use for it as he presides over just one of the lawsuits Trump and his allies have filed seeking to limit the Justice Department's access to evidence.
Last week, Lindell said that FBI agents swarmed his car while he was in the drive-through line at a Hardee's and presented him with a warrant for his phone. In interviews and on his online television show, Lindell said the agents asked about his ties to Tina Peters, a county clerk in Colorado who is facing state charges related to an alleged effort to obtain data from voting machines produced by Dominion Voting Systems. Peters is accused of engineering a scheme she believed would prove a long-debunked conspiracy theory that Dominion's machines were used to steal the 2020 election from Trump.
The seizure of Lindell's phone signaled interest at the federal level in the accusations against Peters. In Lindell, the search warrant targeted one of the highest-profile promoters of pro-Trump disinformation about the 2020 election.
Lindell's lawsuit followed a similar move by John Eastman, a conservative lawyer who helped advise Trump on how to overturn the 2020 election results. Eastman filed a lawsuit for the return of his cellphone after FBI agents seized it in a restaurant parking lot in New Mexico. A federal judge rejected his bid for the immediate return of his phone, and the Justice Department later obtained another search warrant to review the contents of the device.

When M. Night Shyamalan’s third feature “The Sixth Sense” arrived on the scene, the gripping story, horrific visuals, and shocking twist earned the film six Academy Award nominations, and a Newsweek soon had a cover story declaring him “The Next Spielberg.” This unfortunately put Shyamalan on a ridiculous pedestal, which has turned him into one of the most hotly debated filmmakers currently working today. For the last few years, Shyamalan has been independently funding his own projects, a way to maintain the creative control of his vision.
Shyamalan avoided surprise endings for years after it became synonymous with his name, but since 2015 with “The Visit,” he’s been back to incorporating his signature twists, and making movies exactly the way he wants. It was announced about a year ago that Shyamalan was making yet another horror movie, the secretive and highly-anticipated “Knock at the Cabin.” Fans have been speculating for months about what the film could possibly be about, but as is the case with most of Shyamalan’s filmography, trying to predict the truth of the story is a fool’s errand. We can sit here and pretend we know what the film is about until we’re blue in the face, but no one will ever truly know what’s what until the final credits roll.
Fortunately, a new trailer for the film has finally been made available, so at least now our guesses can be somewhat educated. Let the predictions begin.
Loosely based on Paul Tremblay’s 2018 novel “The Cabin at the End of the World,” this home invasion horror film of the apocalypse has an absolutely killer cast. Excitement first sparked when “Guardians of the Galaxy” star and pro-wrestler Dave Bautista joined the film, with Shyamalan citing his turn in “Blade Runner 2049” as his reasoning for casting him. Shortly after, “Harry Potter” mainstay Rupert Grint was cast, who recently had a phenomenal run in Shyamalan’s Apple TV+ series “Servant.” The two are joined by Nikki Amuka-Bird who was seen in Shyamalan’s “Old,” with “Mindhunter,” “Hamilton,” and “The Matrix Resurrections” star Jonathan Groff and Ben Aldridge (“Pennyworth,” Fleabag”) rounding out the cast.
As is customary, Shyamalan is writing, directing, producing, and funding the film, with Jarin Blaschke (“The Lighthouse,” “Servant,” “The Northman”) bringing his vision to life as director of photography. “This one really changed me as a person and an artist,” the director said in a Tweet announcing the film’s wrap. Whether you love him or hate him, a new Shyamalan movie is always going to be worth talking about.
“Knock at the Cabin” arrives in theaters on February 3, 2023.

The F1 Singapore Grand Prix is back after a two-year pandemic hiatus, and the city is gearing up for its biggest weekend — think parties, fast cars, and global music acts converging all in one spot.
Home to the first Grand Prix night race, the country shuts down public roads in the city center and transforms them into a brightly lit track known as the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Around 268,000 fans attended the 2019 F1 Singapore Grand Prix — the second-highest on record since the 2008 inaugural race, race organizer Singapore GP told local news outlet The Straits Times. This year's race, held from September 30 to October 2, is expected to draw a similar turnout, Singapore GP told local news outlet Today.
Those without tickets can catch the action on two of the country's major pay-TV broadcasters. It's a big, celebratory event — even non-F1 fans will head out to the clubs for a slice of the action.
Want in? Get ready to pay up. Here's how much it'll cost you to party big during F1 weekend in Singapore.

Prices for single-day general admission tickets vary across the weekend.
Ticket prices start at 98 Singapore dollars, or $ 70, for the practice race on Friday and go as high as S$ 988 for the race on Sunday. Three-day tickets will set you back as much as S$ 1,288.
There are also three-day hospitality packages, which include free-flow drinks and access to viewing galleries for prices ranging from S$ 1,605 to S$ 9,898.
The S$ 9,898 package — the Formula 1 Paddock Club — lets attendees watch the race from an air-conditioned suite above the pit garages. They also get access to walk down the pit lane and check out the cars and the race crew.
The F1 concert lineup this year includes Westlife, Green Day, and Marshmello. To catch the concert, you'll need to have tickets to the race first.
The Marina Bay Street Circuit is surrounded by some of the largest hotels in the city.
But, as of September 16, rooms in Pan Pacific Singapore, the Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore, and the Fullerton Hotel Singapore were completely sold out from September 30 to October 3.
A representative for the Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore told Insider that room prices during the F1 weekend were around S$ 1,700 to S$ 2,000 per night. In contrast, rooms on a non-F1 weekend at the Ritz start from S$ 650 a night, per the hotel's website.
There are still rooms available at Parkroyal Collection Marina Bay hotel, where the Singapore Night Race (Track View) package costs S$ 2,500 per night. A representative for the company told Insider a minimum stay of three nights is required during that period.
Hotel room rates in Singapore are almost reaching a 10-year high, based on data from the Singapore Tourism Board. In July, the average room cost was S$ 259 — the highest since prices peaked at S$ 261.66 a decade ago in September 2012.

Of course, the party doesn't end when the race ends.
Amber Lounge is one of Singapore's biggest F1 after-parties, which is also held in Monaco and Abu Dhabi. This year's party will be held at The Fullerton Bay Hotel and touts "immersive theatrical cabaret," "cirque-themed performances," and lots of Champagne.
Entry passes for the party cost between S$ 800 and S$ 1,200. Groups of 10 who are looking to party in a VIP suite and have S$ 45,000 to burn can buy a package that includes vodka, caviar, and yes, Champagne.
Marquee Singapore, a nightclub at the Marina Bay Sands, or MBS, is celebrating race weekend with DJ Steve Aoki on September 30 and Afrojack on October 1. General admission tickets start from S$ 80, while express entry tickets start from S$ 250.
There's also the Mandala Weekender party happening at the MBS convention center for all three nights of the race weekend. The party costs upwards of S$ 148 a head and and features artists such as Kelis, Rae Sremmurd, and Rudimental.
Restaurants around the city are catching F1 fever, too.
Perched 57 stories above the ground, right at the top of the iconic MBS, is Cé La Vi Singapore. The rooftop restaurant opens up to views of the city-state on one side and the open sea on the other. It has a four-course F1 set menu: For S$ 300, you can feast on dishes like Boston lobster and Japanese king crab.

LAVO, an Italian restaurant also on the MBS rooftop, is holding a Race Weekend Party Brunch. For S$ 248, diners get to enjoy their food with free-flow drinks while Swiss DJ Gil Glaze spins his beats.
Alternatively, diners can indulge in some French food over at La Brasserie's Winning Formula Brunch, which costs S$ 238 with free-flow Champagne and house wines.

Former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said President Joe Biden's administration is being "unfairly" viewed as "lax" on immigration.
"This administration, I believe, unfairly, is perceived as lax on border enforcement. In fact, we are sending back over 100,000 people a month and have been for the last two years, over 2 million people. The lesson I learned managing this issue is you've got to repeat yourself maybe 25 times before anybody will listen to you," Johnson said in an interview with CBS's "Face the Nation" host Margaret Brennan on Sunday.
The former Obama administration official said that despite criticism from GOP governors on Biden's immigration policies, his administration has been sending people back at the border and advised the current administration to "continually stress that we are, in fact, with the machinery of government about as fast as we probably can. "
Johnson added that border security is a lot tougher since he served as DHS Secretary eight years ago.
"We were dealing principally with the Northern Triangle countries Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Mexico. This problem has become hemispheric. In addition to those countries, you now have Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela who are not cooperating with us," Johnson said, adding that while border patrol capabilities have expanded, they're still struggling.
His remarks come as several GOP governors began sending migrants to northern US cities. Last week, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis flew 50 migrants from Texas to Martha's Vineyard. In the past several weeks, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott sent around 8,000 migrants to Washington D.C. and another 2,200 to New York City.
The moves were efforts to protest Biden's immigration policies. Johnson called the migrant relocation efforts a "political stunt."
"Well, there's a right way and a wrong way to do that, Margaret," Johnson said. "The wrong way is on 20 minutes notice to send people by bus or airplane to the Edgartown Airport or to mass [avenue] in front of the vice president's residence without giving local resources, NGOs, shelter's local government an opportunity to plan for how they intend to feed and clothe and house migrants."
He added: "What the governors of Florida and Texas are doing, frankly, is a political stunt and treating people like livestock."

Wes Anderson is a director whose films all reflect his specific style. They feature the same unique shot compositions, thematic messaging, and a dose of whimsy. Some people criticize Anderson for this, saying he isn’t capable of making a movie any different than all his others. But in a world where mainstream American movies are becoming more homogenous and visually uninteresting, it’s refreshing to see a talented director who leaves his own personal signature on every one of his movies. Not every director needs to direct in the Marvel house style, and I’d rather see the vision of one person reflected over and over again than the vision of a conglomerate.
With such films as “The Royal Tenenbaums,” “Moonrise Kingdom,” and “The Grand Budapest Hotel” under his belt, all reflective of his unique directing style, one can’t dispute the fact that Wes Anderson’s style tends to produce fun, funny movies that are beautifully shot.
Edward Norton agrees with me. (What a sentence to write.) Norton, who has appeared in every single one of Anderson’s films since his Anderson cinematic universe debut as Scout Master Ward in “Moonrise Kingdom,” is clearly a huge fan of working with the filmmaker. But what is it about Anderson’s movies that keeps Norton coming back? According to an interview with NPR in 2014, Norton loves the whimsy and messages about family.

Edward Norton spent his time honing his craft and performing in off-Broadway productions until he was discovered in 1995. It was then he was cast for the film “Primal Fear,” based on the novel of the same name. His performance as an altar boy accused of murdering a Catholic archbishop received critical acclaim and set him on a rocket ship to stardom. He would go on to star in such films as “Fight Club,” “American History X,” and “The Incredible Hulk” (which he actually wrote the screenplay for), all before finally linking up with Wes Anderson for “Moonrise Kingdom.”
Since he began working with Anderson, Norton has appeared in every one of the director’s films, in small parts and large. Norton said in his NPR interview that it’s the movies’ combination of humor and emotion that always get him. “This sort of whimsy and the incredible humor and everything, but there’s always these moments of, like, pathos that come in and sideswipe you,” said Norton. “And every time I watch the ‘Royal Tenenbaums’ I’m laughing and laughing, and then for whatever reason, as soon as there’s that scene where he releases the falcon or the hawk over the city and they play that Velvet Underground song, I tear up every single time I watch the movie at that point.”

It’s not just a respect of Anderson’s skill for filmmaking. Norton has a special appreciation for some of the common themes of Anderson’s work, which include those of found family and self-discovery. “I’ve come to think that a lot of Wes’s movies are about the same thing, which is maybe people struggling with the way that the family that you’re born into fails you or you don’t have the family that you sort of want. And so you go and create the family that you need, you know,” said Norton. “So many of the characters in Wes’s movies are essentially creating alternative communities that support them. And I think there’s something really sweet in that idea.”
Norton doesn’t act as often as he did back in his heyday in the ’90s, but he still comes out for projects he really believes in (he’ll soon be seen in the ensemble cast of Rian Johnson’s “Knives Out” sequel, “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery“). And with such reverence for Wes Anderson’s approach to filmmaking, it’s only a matter of time until he pops up in the next Anderson movie — maybe as a snooty waiter, or an incompetent grade school teacher. If Anderson builds it, Norton will come.

If Alberta doctors ratify a proposed new agreement with the provincial government, the government has pledged to reverse a controversial legislative change, say documents obtained by CBC News.
]]>In a briefing held before today’s presentation, Ubisoft Bordeaux, the studio leading development on the project, described Basim as the most agile assassin in franchise history. He’ll have new abilities to assist him in avoiding detection, some of which you can see on display in the cinematic trailer Ubisoft shared today. An integral part of Basim’s kit is Enkidu, his pet eagle. Like Senu in Origins, Enkidu can scout ahead for you to spot potential threats, but new to Mirage is that there will be archers who can spot and take out your feathery friend. In addition to new gadgets, including smoke bombs and poison mines, Basim will also have the ability to briefly slow down time and plot out multiple assassinations.
With the action returning primarily to a single city – Baghdad circa 861 CE – parkour will play a much bigger role than in more recent games. Ubisoft Bordeaux said Basim would be one of the fastest free runners in franchise history, with a move set that includes both new and returning tricks. The story, meanwhile, will focus on The Hidden Ones, the organization that predates the Assassin Brotherhood and will see Shohreh Aghdashloo (The Expanse, Destiny 2) play Basim’s mentor, Roshan.
When it arrives next year, Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be available on PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Amazon Luna and PC. In the meantime, fans can look forward to The Last Chapter. The free DLC will arrive later this year and complete the story of Valhalla.
