In the latest TV show ratings, NBC’s The Voice this Monday drew 7.4 million viewers and a 1.0 demo rating, dipping week-to-week yet dominating the night in total audience. (Read recap.)

Leading out of that, Debris (3.4 mil/0.4) dropped 23 and 33 percent in Week 2.

Over on ABC, The Bachelor (4.9 mil/1.2, read recap) ticked up and led Monday in the demo. The Good Doctor (4.1 mil/0.6, read recap) was steady.

Elsewhere:

THE CW | All American (826K/0.3) and Black Lightning (453K/0.2, recast alert?!) both ticked up, with the former tackling its second largest audience of the season.

FOX | Heading into their six-week hiatuses, 9-1-1 (6.1 mil/1.0, TVLine reader grade “A-“; read post mortem) and 9-1-1: Lone Star (5.3 mil/0.9, reader grade “A-“; read post mortem) were steady.

CBS | The Neighborhood (5.4 mil/0.8) and Abishola (5 mil/0.6) were steady.

The Live+Same Day numbers reported in our ratings column do not reflect a show’s overall performance, given the increased use of delayed playback via DVR and streaming platforms, plus out-of-home viewing. These numbers (Nielsen fast nationals, unless denoted as finals) instead aim to simply illustrate trends or superlatives. Loss of appetite, dry mouth, stomach upset/pain, dizziness, headache, fever, nervousness, and trouble sleeping may occur.

The Bachelor: Emmanuel Acho to Replace Chris Harrison as Reunion Host https://briefnews.eu/the-bachelor-emmanuel-acho-to-replace-chris-harrison-as-reunion-host/ https://briefnews.eu/the-bachelor-emmanuel-acho-to-replace-chris-harrison-as-reunion-host/#respond Sun, 28 Feb 2021 03:41:56 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/the-bachelor-emmanuel-acho-to-replace-chris-harrison-as-reunion-host/

It will be Emmanuel Acho, and not Chris Harrison, who puts the Bachelor cast in the hot seat during the show’s After the Final Rose special.

Acho, a former NFL linebacker and Fox Sports analyst, will officially replace Harrison as host of the traditional finale special, in which leading man Matt James and his chosen winner will return to discuss the season and their current relationship status, reports our sister site Deadline. The two-hour Season 25 finale is set to air Monday, March 15 at 8/7c, with the Final Rose special airing immediately after.

“It’s both an honor and privilege to be hosting After the Final Rose,” Acho said in a statement. “This is an incredibly pivotal episode on one of the most storied shows in television history.”

Harrison will be absent from the special after choosing to take a “period of time” away from the franchise, following his controversial defense of current Bachelor contestant Rachael Kirkconnell. When photos surfaced of Kirkconnell attending an Antebellum party — a problematic gathering that celebrates the pre-Civil War South and reinforces racist imagery from that time — Harrison defended her in an Extra interview conducted by Rachel Lindsay, The Bachelorette‘s first-ever Black lead. Despite Lindsay’s attempts to explain why Kirkconnell’s actions were indefensible, Harrison decried “cancel culture” and suggested that Kirkconnell’s attendance at the party simply looks worse through a present-day lens.

The host later apologized for “wrongly speaking in a manner that perpetuates racism,” and three days later, he announced he would step aside from the franchise, including the upcoming Final Rose special. “The historic season of The Bachelor should not be marred or overshadowed by my mistakes or diminished by my actions,” Harrison wrote at the time. “I am dedicated to getting educated on a more profound and productive level than ever before.”

Beyond sitting out this finale special, Harrison’s future with the franchise has yet to be determined.

RELATED STORIES

The previews leading up to this Monday night’s installment of The Bachelor certainly made it seem like Matt James planned to get rid of the show’s bad apples.

After watching Matt choose Season 25 villain, Victoria, over much nicer contestants week after week, it felt like all of her slights, verbal jabs and lies would never catch up with her. But they finally did. Victoria is finally gone. But first, Matt came in and let the women know what was on his mind.

“If you have to belittle someone else for you to shine, then those aren’t the qualities I’m looking for in my wife,” Matt announced in a very serious but nervous way, before taking aside Brittany, 23. After all, she was the one who Anna, 24, accused of being an escort in their hometown of Chicago.

Brittany talked to Matt about how the rumor made her feel, and even cried. She said the rumor could change the way her mother looked at her while watching at home. (Sigh. Really? But you said you’re not a sex worker so why would your mother be ashamed? This feels like such an antiquated concern for something that isn’t true. But maybe that’s our inner Twitter talking.)

Matt confronted Anna for what she did and though he heard her out, in the end he sent her packing. She cried and said she felt disappointed in herself, but it came across like an act. She and Matt never even kissed on camera and appeared to have little to no chemistry. Next!

Soon after kicking out Anna, Matt asked Ryan, 26, a choreographer from Brooklyn, how she felt about being on The Bachelor — and she said Victoria called her a ho. She too began to cry. Man, for a show where people swap spit and make out in every kind of hot tub ever invented, these women sure worry a lot about their perceived virtue.

Bachelor VictoriaMatt then took aside Victoria, the self-proclaimed Queen, and questioned her about calling Ryan disparaging names. When she contended the insult was taken out of context, Matt intelligently asked in what context being called a “ho” is a good thing. Victoria fumed and acted all wounded, and yelled at the producers that she was insulted and hurt. Meanwhile, all of the other women laughed at her behind her back. She has no friends in this bunch.

And then bam, Matt handed out the roses and Victoria didn’t get one. Yay! Goodbye, Victoria! The only downside — and this seems like an odd thing to say considering how dreadful Victoria behaved — is that Season 25 will be a lot less funny without Victoria’s catty quips. There, we said. It’s not something to be proud of, but it’s true.

The other negative is that Matt didn’t give a rose to Lauren, 29, a corporate attorney from Miami, nor Mari, 24, the former beauty queen from Maryland. And both women deserved roses, more screen time and most of all, Matt’s consideration.

Bachelor RAchaelMATT’S BEST MOMENT | Matt’s one-on-one date with Rachael, 24, a graphic designer from Georgia, brimmed with romance and fun. The pair went shopping with the help of a stylist and Rachael walked away with some stunning designer dresses and a pair of red bottoms, aka Christian Louboutins. Um, wow! Matt and Rachael also clearly dig each other, and their chemistry is off the charts. Take note, Rachael is a frontrunner. The other frontrunner? Michelle, 27, the teacher from Minnesota. She’s the only one Matt kisses with his eyes closed.

MATT’S WORST MOMENT | Hmm, Matt’s choice to play around with MJ, 23, on the group date, only to leave her to run and make out with Pieper, 23, felt all kinds of wrong. Not that he has that kind of chemistry with MJ, and judging from his confrontation with her about her antagonism in the house, she’s probably going to be ousted. But still, respect these women’s feelings, Matt. It’s only fair.

THIS WEEK’S TRAIN-WRECK MOMENT | This distinction definitely goes to Victoria, who on her way out the door vowed to never date another man named Matt.  This is why her histrionics will be missed. Who even talks like this?

BACHELORETTE STOCK FALLING! | Sadly, Katie seems to be placing herself firmly in the friend zone. She’s been Matt’s confidante, telling him what’s going in the house and who the bullies are. But dude still isn’t kissing her. Maybe Katie, 29, will become the next Bachelorette. Shrug.

Are you admittedly said to see the Queen dethroned?

After 25 seasons and nearly 19 years on the air, The Bachelor kicked off its latest season Monday night with the first eligible Black man to ever look for love on the beloved ABC series.

Matt James, a commercial real estate broker, says that after spending too many hours alone quarantined during the pandemic, he realized it was time to share his life with someone.

To help him find the right stay-at-home soulmate, producers wrangled up 32 Black, white, brown and Asian women from all walks of life. Despite the inclusiveness of the contestants, Matt, 28, says he feels a lot of pressure to pick the right woman for cultural reasons.

“People want you to end up with a certain type of person. I get that,” Matt tells host Chris Harrison at the start of the show, before the ladies arrive. “My mom is white and my dad is Black, and I experienced what it was like to be a product of an interracial marriage.”

Matt says more than anything he doesn’t want to disappoint viewers, even though he likely will no matter what. “It’s tough because you’ve got people who have certain views, old school views, on what a relationship and love look like,” he adds. “You’ve got people who are cheering for you to find love and you’ve got people who are cheering for you to end up with a specific person of a specific race.”

“That’s something that kept me up at night,” Matt continues. “I don’t want to piss off Black people. I don’t want to piss off white people. But I’m both of those. How do I please everybody?”

Khaylah arrived with a serious “pick-up” line

Unfortunately for Matt and the nearly three dozen women on this incarnation of The Bachelor – and for that matter, in every season – disappointment and rejection are a given. Dude can’t choose them all. He did however seem to have a connection with some contestants more than others. Early frontrunners include Khaylah, a 28-year-old healthcare advocate who, like Matt, hails from North Carolina. Khaylah grabbed Matt’s attention by pulling up in a pickup truck and later having a picnic for two in the cargo bed.

Meanwhile, Kaili, 26, a hostess from Chicago, caught Matt’s eye by showing up in lingerie and asking the former college basketball star to pick one of two dresses she had hanging on a rack.

The gaggle also included a woman in goat slippers (Saneh, 25, an IT consultant from Denver) and another delivering a pizza (MJ, 23, a hairstylist from Ohio).

Bachelor Recap Matt James

Katie’s pet Rabbit got blurred out on TV

Of course there always is a villain, and this season it’s Victoria, 27, a self-described “Queen” from Los Angeles. Katie, 29, a banker from Washington state, also rubbed some of the other women the wrong way by waving around the, um, vibrator that kept her company in quarantine. She even tapped Mari, 24, on the shoulder with the contraption — much to the former Puerto Rican beauty contestant’s chagrin.

But in the end, the First Impression Rose went to Abigail, 25, a delightful and dimpled Oregon native who was born deaf and works in finance. After a deep conversation about being vulnerable, the two kissed and Matt gave her the coveted flower. And there were more roses to be delved out as Matt chose 23 more contenders including Victoria (Seriously? Can you say “the producers’ choice”!) and Bri, a communications manager from San Francisco who is also biracial.

What’s your early take on Matt, who was of course a contender on the most recent season of The Bachelorette, and his early picks?

The East High Wildcats are back (and with a longer title than ever!) to bring us High School Musical: The Musical: The Series: The Holiday Special.

Now streaming on Disney+, the joyous event finds the cast of HSM:TM:TS performing a series of festive jams — including classics like “Little Saint Nick” and “Feliz Navidad,” as well as “The Perfect Gift,” a new song written by series star Joshua Bassett — from what feels like every corner of the world. So, how did the whole thing come about?

“I had this crazy plan that someday we would shoot a High School Musical Christmas movie with the cast,” showrunner Tim Federle tells TVLine. “We were a couple of months into quarantine, and I knew we would be returning to Salt Lake to start shooting Season 2, but it still felt pretty dire. No one had really cracked it. So I said to Disney, ‘What if we used this natural separation to our advantage and got to know the actors behind the characters? When I was a fan of teen shows, I would read any interview I could that would tell me just a little bit more about the actors. And as soon as I looked at the brilliant actors that we have, the songs just fell into place.”

And this is where Federle reveals himself to be a time wizard: “I thought, ‘If this lands around the holidays in 2020, we’ll all be so Zoomed out as a society,’” he says. “So even though I pitched the special over the summer, I fought hard to not have the cast shoot themselves on iPhones. That made it 100 times harder, but hopefully it’s something that will stand the test of time.”

One of the most stirring performances comes courtesy of Olivia Rodrigo, who introduces Joni Mitchell’s “River” to a new generation of viewers. And if you think the setting of her big number looks familiar, you’ve got a good eye. Or you just watch a lot of reality TV.

“We shot that in the middle of a heatwave in front of the Bachelor mansion in Malibu,” Federle says. “It was the only location in Los Angeles that was available at the height of quarantine. It just makes me laugh that Olivia looks into the fountain, and I’m like, ‘The number of Bachelors I’ve watched walk past that fountain…’ We’re really carrying on the legacy.” Check out her performance below:

The special also gives us our first look at HSM:TM:TS‘ second season, much of which has already been filmed. “We’re still working on the last couple of episodes,” Federle says. “We always have some surprises up our sleeves.” But fear not — the coronavirus won’t be one of those surprises.

“We made a game day decision where we were like, ‘Let’s let Grey’s Anatomy do that. They’re going to do it really well. That’s their world,’” he explains. “By the time we premiere, I truly do believe that we as a world will be on a better track. I don’t know if people will want to tune in for a half hour every week to be reminded of what we just came out of. So you will not see masks in Season 2, other than potentially a Beast mask.”

What’s your favorite number from the holiday special? Grade HSM:TM:TS:THS below, then drop a comment with your hopes for Season 2.

That same week, ABC will unveil a fresh Thursday-night game show slate that included a celeb edition of Wheel of Fortune and a new, Sara Haines-hosted Stateside adaptation of the quizzer The Chase (get details).

American Idol, meanwhile, will hope to make a “date” with its viewers on Valentine’s Day — Sunday, Feb. 14 — when Season 19 arrives, with evvvvverybody returning.

RELATED STORIES

After a season full of romantic turbulence, The Bachelor‘s Peter finally made his choice and got down on one knee to propose — but it’s never that simple on this show anymore, is it?

As Tuesday’s Part 2 of the finale opens, it seems like Peter’s decision has already been made for him: Madison said goodbye to him and the show in Monday’s Part 1, leaving Hannah Ann as his only remaining option. But even though she doesn’t know Madison has left, she still senses that Peter is not quite sure about her. He talks himself into it, though, and picks up a ring from Neil Lane and calls Hannah Ann’s dad to get his blessing. He’s ready to propose… but Hannah Ann is still stewing about him saying he’s torn between her and Madison. (Plus, in a glimpse at the live show, Chris Harrison points out that booted contestant Kelley is in the audience, along with Peter’s parents, who look none too pleased. Hmmm…)

The Bachelor Finale Chris Harrison PeterAt the final rose ceremony, Peter gets a visit from Chris Harrison, who breaks the news that he’s “not positive” Hannah Ann is coming. Oof. Peter is left reeling — the guy thinks he’s been rejected by both of his final ladies at this point — and lies on a bed while producers try to calm him down. But wait, Hannah Ann is on her way after all! She arrives at the rose ceremony, and a relieved Peter gives her a big hug. (We hear those heartbeats again!) He gives her a tearful speech and reveals that Madison left two days ago — so Hannah Ann wins by default, we guess! “My heart chooses you forever,” he says, and he assures her he loves her before getting down on one knee to propose. And she says yes! It seems like a happy ending… but as Chris Harrison reminds us, there’s way too much show left for this to be the end. (They keep showing Kelley in the crowd, too…)

We see Peter tell his family about the proposal — his mom sobs, of course — and Chris Harrison brings him out live for a few softball questions. But then the bad news starts to trickle in: A month after taping, Hannah Ann comes out to visit Peter in L.A., and she still doesn’t seem completely sure about how he feels. He admits he’s been “struggling,” before he casually mentions that he “[gave] his heart to two people” (!). He apologizes that he can’t give her his whole heart right now, but she’s just about had it: “You took away from me my first engagement,” she says before storming off. “I said yes, and I get this?” (They keep showing Peter’s mom in the audience, just to twist the knife further.) Hannah Ann accuses him of “not being true to his words” and ultimately pulls away: “I don’t need anything more from you. You’ve done enough damage.” She hands him his ring back and walks out after he admits he “betrayed” her… and Peter’s own mom claps for her! (Quick, somebody get her a #TeamHannahAnn T-shirt.)

The Bachelor ABC Finale Peter Hannah AnnOn the live show, Hannah Ann comes out to see Peter for the first time since the breakup, and she’ll only give him an awkward side hug. She chides him for leading her on, and says he even reached out to her parents after they broke up, saying he wished they hadn’t met on reality TV. (Right, dude, like it’s reality TV’s fault.) He stammers to apologize, but she hammers him for not telling her what was really happening with Madison: “I had no idea what I was saying yes to.” She wishes she would’ve seen a red flag earlier when he said he needed closure with Hannah Brown: “Really, our engagement involved three women” (!!). She concludes by advising Peter that, to be with a real woman, he needs to “become a real man” — and again, applause from his mom!

Meanwhile, we know damn well that Madison is still lurking out there, and sure enough, Chris Harrison goes down to Alabama to check in on her. She talks about how hard this has all been on her — while Peter’s mom rolls her eyes! — and when Chris asks if she regrets what she did, she says yes. He tells her that Peter and Hannah Ann got engaged… but they split up: “He ended his engagement because of his feelings for you.” (No, Hannah Ann dumped him, Chris, but whatever.) Madison says she’s open to “a second chance,” so she jets off to L.A. and drops in on Peter for a quick chat. She says the way she felt about him “has not gone away at all,” and she still has “so much love in my heart for you.” (There’s that heartbeat sound effect again.) He admits he made “a million and one mistakes” — uh, ya think? — but he fell in love with her, and he’s still in love with her. “So what do we do?” he asks.

The Bachelor Finale Peter MadisonBack on the live show, Peter tells Chris that he’s in love with Madison, and when they bring her out live, she and Peter are all smiles. (Peter’s mom, however? Is not.) She rambles about how all those old feelings are still there, but when Chris asks what’s next, Peter isn’t ready to propose (again): He says they’ll just take it “one day at a time.” Chris checks in with Peter’s mom, who says things were rocky right away with Madison because she made them wait “three hours” (!) in Australia and then told her she wouldn’t accept a proposal from Peter in four days. Peter asks his family to give her a chance, but his mom really isn’t onboard, and she and Madison low-key bicker (again) before his mom declares that everyone in Peter’s life knows that “it’s not going to work.” (Even his dad points out how his son and Madison have “so many differences to overcome.”)

Chris Harrison tries to put a happy bow on this mess, but man… that first Weber family dinner is going to be awkward, huh?

Alright, Bachelor Nation, now it’s your turn: What should Peter have done? Vote in our poll, and then hit the comments below with your post-finale thoughts.

Reality TV’s next eligible bachelor could very well be a silver fox. ABC on Monday aired a casting announcement for a new reality dating show that would feature older contestants looking for love later in life.

Here’s the on-air announcement, as captured by Rob Mills, Senior Vice President of Alternative Series, Specials and Late-Night Programming for ABC Entertainment:

As Mills later clarified in a tweet, ABC is looking for applicants over the age of 65.

The announcement directed viewers to an official casting website, which offers a bit more information about the in-development project: “Are you entering your golden years and looking for romance? The Producers of The Bachelor are looking for active and outgoing single men and women in their golden years for a new exciting dating show!”

Of course, this older-skewing dating show isn’t the only Bachelor offshoot on the horizon. Premiering on Monday, April 13 (8/7c), we also have The Bachelor: Listen to Your Heart, in which 20 singles “embark on an incredible journey to find love through music,” according to the official logline. By singing popular songs, both individually and as couples, the contestants will “look to form attractions through the melodies, find and reveal their feelings, and ultimately fall in love.”

Would you watch a Bachelor/Bachelorette-type dating show with older contestants? Drop a comment with your thoughts below.

RELATED STORIES

Welcome back, rose lovers! A new year means a new season of The Bachelor, and Monday’s premiere — with Peter the pilot stepping up as leading man — delivered three hours (!) of kisses, tears and airplane puns. Lots and lots of airplane puns.

Right at the start, the premiere flashes forward to the end of the season, with Chris Harrison consoling a devastated Peter as he delivers some bad news — and promising an “unbelievable journey” in the voiceover. A full season trailer shows us a bevy of women throwing themselves at Peter, fighting with each other, crying a whole lot… and then it takes us back again to that unhappy ending. We also get the usual fluffy intro filler: Peter emerges from an airplane hangar like Maverick in Top Gun, with a leather jacket and aviators, and tells us how he’s ready for love again after Hannah broke his heart. (Yeah, more on her in a minute.) Plus, we get sneak peeks at some of the ladies, including Chicago body waxer Alexa; Syracuse tomboy Tammy; Tennessee model Hannah Ann, who looks like a Disney princess; and Chicago attorney Kelley, who already had a run-in with Peter in a hotel lobby months earlier. Hmmm, interesting…

The Bachelor Premiere Peter Deandra WindmillSoon enough, the limos are arriving at the Bachelor mansion, and Peter is there to greet them in a tuxedo and bow tie. Alayah hands him a letter from her Grandma Rose. Hannah Ann immediately catches his eye; she’s clearly an early frontrunner. Eunice thinks she has an advantage because she’s a flight attendant… but then there are two others in the mix! There are plenty of attention-grabbing stunts, too: Georgia nanny Kiarra emerges after being zipped up inside luggage, and Deandra arrives dressed as a windmill and asks him, “Are you ready for Round 5?” One girl even blindfolds him and kisses him — um, not OK! — but the biggest gasp happens when the last limo pulls up and out steps… Hannah Brown!

The girls inside scream bloody murder and freak out, of course (“Is this legal?”), but Hannah’s only there to wish Peter well and give him back the wings he gave her so he can go find his co-pilot. How sweet! (Yeah, stay tuned on that!) Peter joins his ladies inside and assures them that they don’t need to worry about Hannah; he gets to mingling, reading the letter from Alayah’s Grandma Rose and bonding with Hannah Ann over a painting her dad did of the Smoky Mountains. That earns Hannah Ann the first kiss of the season… but that’s soon followed by him locking lips with Tammy and Canadian fashion blogger Mykenna, so maybe she shouldn’t feel all that special.

All the women Peter is not kissing are starting to get antsy: While he’s kissing Mykenna, Natasha is standing right nearby, sipping tea and yelling, “Tick-tock!” (To be fair, Mykenna did interrupt Natasha’s alone time with him, and that is an unforgivable offense on this show.) Hannah Ann also steals more alone time with Peter, and when Shiann pulls her aside and calls her out on it, she just smiles her way through it. (You can’t be mad at her! She’s a Disney princess!) Peter remembers Kelley from their hotel lobby rendezvous and thinks they have a spark, but when he grabs the first impression rose, he makes a beeline for Hannah Ann, and they kiss some more. Boy, he sure likes the name “Hannah,” huh?

The Bachelor Premiere Peter PilotTime for the first rose ceremony: Peter hands out roses to Victoria P., Madison, Kelley, Lexi, Savannah (who?), Lauren, Tammy, Alayah, Jasmine, Sydney, Natasha, Mykenna (OK…), Deandra, Sarah, Alexa the body waxer, Kelsey, Payton, Kiarra, Courtney, Shiann and… Victoria F., who cried all night about not getting enough attention. (Gotta keep that drama going!) But wait: The premiere’s not over yet! We move right into the thick of the action, with a group date for Hannah Ann, Kelley, Deandra, Tammy, Courtney, Shiann, Victoria P., Jasmine and Victoria F., who meet Peter at a nearby airplane hangar. A pair of female pilots put the girls through “flight school,” which means math problems, a rundown of sexy-sounding aviation terms and a spin in the nausea-inducing gyroscope. Poor Victoria P. has a weak tummy — she threw up on the teacups at Disneyland! — but she summons up enough courage to strap into the gyroscope for a few spins. And then promptly pukes in the bathroom.

For the final challenge, the ladies don flight suits to go through a goofy airplane-themed obstacle course, and Kelley emerges as the winner — though she clearly cheated, riding her tricycle straight to the finish line rather than around the cones. Tammy calls her out for cheating, but not only does Kelley still get alone time with Peter, but she also scores the group date rose after she and Peter recreate their fateful hotel lobby meeting, because the producers made sure this date took place in the same dang hotel where they met. (See, kids? Cheaters… actually do win!) But it’s Madison who lands the season’s first one-on-one, accompanying Peter to meet his whole family while his parents renew their vows — wow, no pressure there — before enjoying a romantic dinner together. She confesses she already doesn’t want to share him, but he reassures her he won’t hurt her (hmmm, foreshadowing, perhaps?) before they take in a private performance by someone called Tenille Arts. It’s all sweet, but a little boring.

The Bachelor Premiere Peter Group DateNot boring, however, is the next group date, which brings Lauren, Sydney, Payton, Natasha, Alexa, Kelsey, Mykenna, Alaya and Savannah to an L.A. club where “a very good friend” of Peter’s has set something up for them. Oh hey, it’s Hannah B.! Again! With a windmill behind her! The other ladies aren’t thrilled to see her as she tasks them with sharing a personal story about sex in front of a live audience… after she tells the windmill story again, of course. (Four times! Did you catch that?) While the girls work on writing their stories, though, Hannah tells a producer she still has feelings for Peter (??), and he finds her crying backstage (!!). (Also, it’s her birthday, apparently? Happy birthday, Hannah!) He admits he kind of wanted her to stay on that first night, and she blubbers that she regrets sending him home: “I question it all the time.” He even asks her if she’d consider coming back into the house… and she says “maybe.” He wants her to come back, but he’d feel like a jerk with the other girls — and the episode ends with a big, fat “To Be Continued.” Oof.

Alright, Bachelor Nation, it’s time to weigh in: Grade tonight’s premiere in our poll, tell us whether or not you want to see Hannah come back as a contestant and then hit the comments to share your thoughts on all three hours.

HBO Max’s 12 Dates of Christmas Weds Hallmark Movies, Bachelor in Paradise https://briefnews.eu/hbo-maxs-12-dates-of-christmas-weds-hallmark-movies-bachelor-in-paradise/ https://briefnews.eu/hbo-maxs-12-dates-of-christmas-weds-hallmark-movies-bachelor-in-paradise/#respond Mon, 16 Dec 2019 18:14:26 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/hbo-maxs-12-dates-of-christmas-weds-hallmark-movies-bachelor-in-paradise/

HBO Max will aim to bring cheesy, tinsel-draped TV-movies to life with 12 Dates of Christmas, a holiday-inspired dating series set in “a stunning winter wonderland.”

Officially ordered to series and set to debut in 2020, 12 Dates of Christmas will follow a cast of singles as they “step into a real-life romantic comedy full of cozy sweaters, fireside cuddles and mistletoe kisses, all arranged to help these souls find love — just in time for the premiere date the holidays.”

The romantic journey begins at “a picturesque Christmas castle,” where the prospective couples will enjoy festive holiday traditions like ice skating, sleigh rides, and “hot toddies after a fun day in the snow.” But! “Like all great rom coms, their path to love won’t be easy,” reads HBO Max’s synopsis. “Filled with unexpected twists and turns, the singles will ultimately choose a special someone to take home for the holidays, with the hope of a perfect Christmas ending.”

The press release makes no mention of Hanukkah, so those who celebrate will presumably still have to rely on their Aunt Irma for all matchmaking needs.

“The holidays can be a magical time for budding relationships and where better to find your perfect match than in this real-life fairytale castle in the snow?” asks HBO Max unscripted EVP Jennifer O’Connell. “Viewers can grab some hot cocoa, watch the romance unfold and be charmed right along with these hopeless romantics as they search for a Christmas miracle— parking at the mall true love.”

HBO Max is set to launch in May (exact date TBA) and cost $ 14.99 per month. The streamer has at least 16 other series in various stages of development, including The Griswolds, a Gossip Girl reboot, an Adventure Time revival and Kaley Cuoco’s The Flight Attendant. In addition, HBO Max will feature a robust selection of library content, including all episodes of Big Bang, Friends, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Pretty Little Liars and South Park, as well as all of HBO’s programming.
