It would certainly be a massive coincidence if three distinct plans to take down the Duttons all kicked off at once, though it’s not outside the realm of possibility considering how many enemies the ranch has made over the years.

Reddit user dogsanddundermifflin posted: “Okay … so I know this seems far fetched, but it is Yellowstone, and as much as I love this show, that might make this theory even more plausible.

“What if all three attacks (on John, Beth and Kaycee) are all at the hands/orders of different people? And have essentially nothing to do with each other.”

Most fans have the likes of Roarke Morris (Josh Holloway) and Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) high on their list of suspects who could have orchestrated the attacks.

One person has been killed and two others wounded as a knife-wielding man went on a rampage in a busy street in central Melbourne. The attacker was detained after police shot him in the chest.

Victoria Police responded to a major incident on Friday afternoon on Bourke Street in Melbourne, Australia. The officers initially responded to reports of a fire, but when they arrived and got out of the car, they were “confronted by a male brandishing a knife and threatening them,” Superintendent David Clayton told reporters.

It is reported that a man burned a car before starting his knife attack.

Videos with the burning vehicle in the background have surfaced online, apparently showing the moment officers approached the suspect. The attacker is seen viciously hitting at the officers, who at first tried to calm him down.

A total of three people were stabbed during the assault, police revealed during a press conference. One of the victims later succumbed to the injuries, while two others are still receiving treatment.

Witnesses say they heard one bang or multiple bangs and gunshots in the area, which was subsequently put on lock down.

No terrorist link has been made so far, according to police. However, the investigation is still in the early stages and the authorities said they would “keep an open mind as to whether there is any link.”

Knife-wielding attacker shot outside Iranian envoy's residence in Vienna https://briefnews.eu/knife-wielding-attacker-shot-outside-iranian-envoys-residence-in-vienna/ https://briefnews.eu/knife-wielding-attacker-shot-outside-iranian-envoys-residence-in-vienna/#respond Mon, 12 Mar 2018 08:14:19 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/knife-wielding-attacker-shot-outside-iranian-envoys-residence-in-vienna/

An unknown assailant was shot dead as he attacked a guard outside the Iranian ambassador’s residence in Vienna, Austria, local police have confirmed.

“An unknown attacker armed with a knife has been shot dead by a guard from the Federal Armed Forces,” a police tweet said. The assault happened round midnight local time on Sunday. The guard was also injured in the incident and is now in hospital. The motive of the attack is not clear yet, law enforcement added.

The perpetrator is a 26-year-old Austrian citizen, local police said in statement.

The 23-year-old guard was stabbed several times, but only suffered minor injuries thanks to a stab-proof vest. He initially used pepper spray to tackle the attacker. Later the two engaged in a tussle on the ground, during which the officer reached for his service weapon and fired several shots.

Authorities ordered heightened security measures at diplomatic missions in Vienna, according to local media. It is not clear if the ambassador was inside the building at the time of the attack.

Last week, four people, including a teenage girl, were seriously injured in two separate attacks in the Austrian capital. The perpetrator in one of the incidents was described as “uninhibited and psychotic,” according to witnesses.

Hamburg knife attacker wanted to kill Christians to avenge Muslim injustices – prosecutors https://briefnews.eu/hamburg-knife-attacker-wanted-to-kill-christians-to-avenge-muslim-injustices-prosecutors/ https://briefnews.eu/hamburg-knife-attacker-wanted-to-kill-christians-to-avenge-muslim-injustices-prosecutors/#respond Fri, 10 Nov 2017 10:45:39 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/hamburg-knife-attacker-wanted-to-kill-christians-to-avenge-muslim-injustices-prosecutors/

A Palestinian man who fatally stabbed one person and wounded six others at a supermarket in Hamburg, Germany, in July wanted to kill as many Christians as possible to avenge what he believes are injustices against Muslims worldwide, prosecutors say.

According to prosecutors cited by AP, the suspect – identified only as Ahmad A. – considered his actions to be a “contribution to a worldwide jihad.” However, they said there is currently no evidence to suggest he had the support of any extremist group.

Prosecutors said in a Friday statement that they were formally indicting Ahmad A., a failed asylum seeker of Palestinian origin who was born in the United Arab Emirates. He is being charged with one count of murder, six counts of attempted murder and six counts of serious bodily harm.

The crimes committed by Ahmad A. occurred when he entered a branch of the supermarket chain Edeka in Hamburg in July, grabbing a knife with a 20cm blade from the shelves. He attacked a 50-year-old customer who later died from the injuries he sustained.

The attacker then continued on his stabbing spree, injuring five others. Another man was hurt while overpowering Ahmad A. in the street alongside other bystanders.

Witnesses told AFP at the time that the suspect shouted “Allahu Akbar” as he fled the supermarket. They told German media that people ran after the suspect with improvised weapons including chairs and sticks, to prevent him from getting away.

Germany has been on high alert since a lorry plowed into a Christmas market in Berlin in December 2016. Twelve people were killed in that attack.

Manhattan attacker was likely radicalized inside US – retired army general https://briefnews.eu/manhattan-attacker-was-likely-radicalized-inside-us-retired-army-general/ https://briefnews.eu/manhattan-attacker-was-likely-radicalized-inside-us-retired-army-general/#respond Wed, 01 Nov 2017 05:57:00 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/manhattan-attacker-was-likely-radicalized-inside-us-retired-army-general/ The New York terrorist may have been a “lone wolf” but his attack is part of the war waged by ISIS supporters against the US and the West as a whole, retired US Army General Paul Vallely told RT, noting that the suspect was likely radicalized in the US.

The New York Police Department has been treating an incident in lower Manhattan, during which a rental truck mowed down cyclists and pedestrians, killing eight and injuring a dozen, as one carried out by a lone attacker. The 29-year-old suspect, reportedly a native of the Central Asian nation of Uzbekistan who came to the US in 2010, was shot and injured by police and is in custody.

Paul Vallely told RT he disagrees with the term “lone wolf” used to describe attacks when perpetrators appear to have no direct accomplices, arguing that the man, identified as Sayfullo Saipov by several sources, was apparently influenced by the ideology of violent Islamic extremism, which is at war with Western civilization.

“These are not lone wolves, they are part of being a jihad, being a warrior for Islam… The tactics they use is terrorism.

“We have to realize that this is active jihad. This is a war against the West, this is the war against the United States… This is the caliphate trying to expand, to be more powerful,” Vallely said.

It’s not necessary for the attacker to have been to a war zone to be indoctrinated, as they can be as easily radicalized on home turf, he added.

“We have noticed almost, I think, ten training sites in the US right now and I’m certain they are all over Europe as well,” Vallely said.

The Manhattan attacker might have been radicalized in Tampa, Florida, where he lived for almost a decade, he said, and the local mosque could be the culprit.

“We know that’s a very active mosque down there that recruits and should be closed down at the earliest opportunity,” the retired general said.

While it’s hard to prevent an attack carried out with no weapon other than a rental car, Vallely still believes the special services could have done a better job – as they do in Russia.

“Well, I just think like you have done in Russia. Russia has done a very good job. Europe has done a poor job but they’re getting better. Our intelligence is getting better on the identification of these individuals and where they come from and where they were recruited at.”

Part of the problem, the general said, lies with the many peaceful Muslims, who harbor no ill intentions but are reluctant to alert police on suspicious activities in their community. He went on say that the portion of those who hold radical beliefs could also be quite sizeable.

“The Muslim people that are peace-loving, they’ve got to engage, and if they see any activity that looks like jihad, or there’s going to be an attack, they’ve got to come to the authorities, too.”

“Almost everything has been done wrong after 9/11”

By unleashing a war on terror that involved invading countries on false pretexts, the US stepped on a path that has led to it being engaged in a perpetual war with vibrant Islamic extremism, Coleen Rowley, a former FBI agent and whistleblower, told RT.

“Police are quite desperate now in trying to assure the public that they can keep them safe, but the truth is unless they really examine some of the root causes for this, which go back now decades, there’s not going to be any change, we are just going to see one incident after the other, and the police authorities are going to be rather helpless in the face of it.”

Rowley called the US decision to launch a war on Iraq in 2003 one of the major policy mistakes, saying that she had written a memo to George W. Bush three weeks before the invasion, warning him that the operation would increase the level of terrorism and not otherwise.

“George W. Bush promised that he ‘would fight them over there so we would not have to fight them here,’ Rowley said, noting that the outcome was just the opposite.

“Almost everything has been done wrong after 9/11,” she said.

Very often the US military engagements contribute to the spread of terrorism as they aimed against the countries battling it.

“Some of those countries, for instance, Iraq, obviously, Syria, Libya was another one, some of those countries had nothing to do with Al-Qaeda, ISIS-type Islamic extremism. Some of these countries that the US had chosen to target were actually the countries that were a buffer between Al-Qaeda terrorism and were enemies of it,” Rowley said.

“So you see almost everything being done wrong after 9/11, and we get to this really sad state 16 years later. Perpetual war.”

At least three people are in critical condition after a gunman opened fire at an Israeli settlement in the West Bank, 10km from Jerusalem, medics say. Local media report the assailant was a Palestinian and the three wounded succumbed to their injuries.

The incident took place near Har Adar, northwest of Jerusalem, Magen David Adom (MDA), the Israeli national emergency service, said on Twitter.

Paramedics say they were treating four patients, three of whom were in critical condition.
The attacker was “neutralized” at the scene, MDA added.

A male assailant went on a rampage on Saturday morning while running along central streets of Surgut and injuring passersby with a knife before he was killed by police.

The attacker was identified by Russia’s Investigative Committee as a Surgut resident. A spokeswoman for the committee, Svetlana Petrenko, said in a statement that the investigation will deploy crime scene and forensic units, as well as conduct searches of the suspect’s flat.

To date, this is the only piece of information officially confirmed by authorities.

After the stabbing rampage resonated widely among the public, the Investigative Committee announced that local law enforcement agencies had handed the case over to their federal counterparts.

Son of an Islamist known to police

The 19-year-old attacker’s name is reportedly Artur Gadzhiev, who comes from a family originally from the southern Russian Republic of Dagestan, various Russian media speculated citing local investigative officials.

Telegram public channel Mash also reported that Gadzhiev’s father, Lametulakh, was known to police as an “extremist” and “supporter” of radical Islam.

Mash published what it said was an actual photo of Gadzhiev, whose neat appearance and smile triggered a frenzy among social media users.

Interestingly, the stabber was initially identified by some Russian media as a 23-year-old Tajikistani national by the name of Bobichel Abdurakhmanov, the claim that soon proved false.

On Sunday, a video became available allegedly showing the stabber being chased and shot dead by a policeman. The video shows a black-clad man running along the street before collapsing to the ground.

Security guard at a local supermarket

Other claims that have also emerged locally said the suspect could have worked as security guard at a Surgut supermarket.

An activist of a grassroots group checking supermarkets for products’ shelf lives claimed he recognized the assailant shot dead by police as a security officer from one of the city’s chain stores.

Posting a grab from one of his videos on Russia’s VKontakte (In Contact) social network, the activist alleged “this young man was employed as a security guard at a local grocery store.”

The activist, who describes himself as a journalist and a cameraman, accused the authorities of silencing the fact the assailant was sane.

“A madman? Seriously? Watch the video and see the man in his right mind,” he wrote, challenging authorities’ statement that the suspect might have had psychiatric disorder.

4 injured in spree struggle for life

Meanwhile four people injured in the stabbing spree have sustained serious injuries, local health officials said, adding one of them is in a life-threatening condition.

“One person is in a very grave condition,” an official of Surgut trauma care center told Interfax on Sunday morning, adding, “three patients are stable, but still in serious condition.” Two other victims were moderately injured. One person sustained light injuries and was not hospitalized.

ISIS claims credit for attack

Law enforcement agencies did not single out terrorism as a possible primary motive at this stage. Nevertheless, Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) claimed credit for the attack, Reuters reported on Saturday citing the terrorist group’s Amaq news outlet.

Russian authorities reiterated later in the day that they had opened an investigation into attempted murder, adding detectives will be keeping an open mind about the assailant’s true motives.

Investigators are also currently looking into causes of the incident and are trying to establish the attacker’s motives.

“At the moment, the investigation is verifying all possible causes of the crime,” Petrenko said.

The city of Surgut lies 2,100km (1,330 miles) northeast of Moscow in the oil-rich Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area.

The knife attack in Surgut comes just a day after an 18-year-old Moroccan asylum seeker deliberately targeted women in a stabbing spree that left two dead in the Finnish city of Turku on Friday. He injured six other people, among them four women, before being shot in the thigh by police.

Four Moroccan nationals were detained in a Turku apartment and a local refugee reception center later in the day. Police have also issued an international arrest warrant for another person whose nationality has been withheld.

Turku knife attacker was asylum seeker, presumably targeted women – investigators https://briefnews.eu/turku-knife-attacker-was-asylum-seeker-presumably-targeted-women-investigators/ https://briefnews.eu/turku-knife-attacker-was-asylum-seeker-presumably-targeted-women-investigators/#respond Sat, 19 Aug 2017 12:19:35 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/turku-knife-attacker-was-asylum-seeker-presumably-targeted-women-investigators/

The suspect behind the deadly stabbing attack in the Finnish city of Turku was an 18-year-old Moroccan asylum-seeker, investigators said, adding that it seems the attacker deliberately targeted women.

“The suspect was seeking an asylum [in Finland],” Robin Lardot of the Central Bureau of Investigation said at a press conference on Saturday.

The attacker arrived in Finland in 2016, Lardot said, adding that it was not clear if the man was denied asylum.

Apart from the prime suspect, Finnish police detained four Moroccan citizens, Krista Granroth of the Central Bureau of Investigation said.

An international arrest warrant was also issued for a sixth person, she added, without disclosing the suspect’s nationality.

The suspect seems to have deliberately targeted women, Granroth said, adding that both killed were women. Four of the six injured are also women, she stated, adding that the two men who were injured seemed to be protecting the women during the attack.

Two people were killed and six injured in the stabbing attack. Police shot and injured the suspect, who is now being treated in the hospital. Police will question the suspect via an interpreter later on Saturday, the authorities added.

Both of the deceased were Finnish citizens, police said earlier, as cited by Yle. UK and Italian citizens are among those injured in the attack, police and investigators say.
