Are you ready for the first trailer for the Hellboy reboot? What would Armie Hammer‘s version of Batman have been like in George Miller’s Justice League? Why isn’t the Miles Morales suit in the Spider-Man PS4 game? What did Ryan Reynolds give to the fan who had AvengersEndgame.com redirect to Deadpool? All that and more in this edition of Superhero Bits.
There’s already a stop-motion animated LEGO version of the teaser trailer for Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame.
Lou Ferrigno Jr. has been cast as Justice Society of America co-founder Hourman in DC Universe’s Stargirl.

— Variety (@Variety) December 13, 2018
Jason Momoa performed a ceremonial haka dance at the Aquaman premiere last week and broke a trident.
Domino’s is trying to get in on free advertising by offering to send pizza to Tony Stark marooned in space.
Here’s a trailer for Avengers: Infinity War cut in the style of the first teaser trailer for Avengers: Endgame.
Stargirl has also cast Brian Stapf in the DC Universe streaming series as as Ted Grant, also known as Wildcat.

A new poster for Hellboy arrived at IGN before the first trailer arrives on Thursday, so get ready to feel the burn.
Insomniac Games had a stupid response and worse defense for a lack of Miles Morales suit in Spider-Man PS4.
Due to the amount of graphics and images included in Superhero Bits, we have to split this post over THREE pages. Click the link above to continue to the next page of Superhero Bits.

If you though the recent online frenzy over Superman’s moustache was crazy, just wait for this.
Henry Cavill’s offending hairy upper lip had to be digitaly removed at great expense (and huge ridicule) during Justice League reshoots.
Now another Hollywood hunk has revealed that his private parts faced the chop in the same undignified way.
Apparently there was too much dangling there for his very short shorts to contain and he gave his co-stars an eyefull. Luckily (or not, depending on your tastes) cinema audiences were spared the sight.
The star spends much of the movie in shorts, since his character is holidaying in Italy where he falls in love with the teenage son of his hosts.
During an appearance on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy, Armie told host Andy Cohen the naked truth – but was he joking or bragging?
He said: “There were a few times where they had to go back and digitally remove my b***s from the movie. They were short shorts. What’re you gonna do?”
And it appears he really wasn’t joking.
ARMIE HAMMER ADMITS: “KISSING LEO DICAPRIO GAVE ME AN ERECTION”
Cohen asked: “Armie Hammer has big b***s is what you’re saying?”
In response, the movie’s director Luca Guadagnino clarified: “No, no, I’m not just saying it. We had to remove them!”
The revelation is typical of the huge fun the film makers have been having promoting a movie which has quickly become a critical splash, picked up early awards and is generating massive Oscars buzz.
CALL ME BY YOUR NAME IS OUT NOW IN CINEMAS
If you’re having a bad week, and there’s a good chance you probably are, here’s something that might cheer you up: professional handsome man Armie Hammer dancing up a storm in a new Call Me By Your Name clip. It’s Hammer time.
Listen, I’m not going to sugarcoat it: the last few weeks have been terrible. I don’t want to bring you down, but it just seems like every day there’s a new piece of soul-crushing news that drags everything further and further down into the muck. We could all use a pick-me-up. And thankfully, one has just arrived in the form of Armie Hammer dancing his ass off in Call Me By Your Name.
Call Me By Your Name is one of the years best films, a hypnotic, poetic adaptation of the novel by André Aciman. We raved about it from Sundance and we raved about it again from the Toronto International Film Festival. Luca Guadagnino helms the film, which follows 17-year-old Elio (Timothee Chalamet) as he idles away a lazy 1980s summer at his family’s Italian villa. Everything changes, however, when his father’s new assistant Oliver (Hammer) arrives, and awakens unexpected feelings within Elio.
Here’s the official synopsis:
CALL ME BY YOUR NAME, the new film by Luca Guadagnino, is a sensual and transcendent tale of first love, based on the acclaimed novel by André Aciman. It’s the summer of 1983 in the north of Italy, and Elio Perlman (Timothée Chalamet), a precocious 17- year-old American-Italian boy, spends his days in his family’s 17th century villa transcribing and playing classical music, reading, and flirting with his friend Marzia (Esther Garrel). Elio enjoys a close relationship with his father (Michael Stuhlbarg), an eminent professor specializing in Greco-Roman culture, and his mother Annella (Amira Casar), a translator, who favor him with the fruits of high culture in a setting that overflows wit h natural delights. While Elio’s sophistication and intellectual gifts suggest he is already a fully-fledged adult, there is much that yet remains innocent and unformed about him, particularly about matters of the heart. One day, Oliver (Armie Hammer), a charming American scholar working on his doctorate, arrives as the annual summer intern tasked with helping Elio’s father. Amid the sun-drenched splendor of the setting, Elio and Oliver discover the heady beauty of awakening desire over the course of a summer that will alter their lives forever.
The clip in question, released by the Call Me By Your Name Twitter account for National Coming Out Day, occurs early in the movie, before Elio and Oliver have verbally acknowledged or acted on their feelings. Much dancing occurs, set to “Love My Way” by The Psychedelic Furs. I won’t tell you this clip will cure all your problems. In fact, it won’t cure any problems. But it is a nice 42 second bit of relief in what has become a truly stressful year. Just remember: you’ve made it this far, you can make it a bit further. Take a quick break, turn on this clip, and get down.
Call Me By Your Name opens in select theaters November 24, 2017.

Since the movie was announced, fans have been wondering where the seventh member of the Justice League has been hiding.
From the trailers and posters the new DC movie will see Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg unite.
Meanwhile Superman is set to make a return following his teased resurrection at the end of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
But where is Green Lantern? Well a new leak suggests fans won’t have to wait very long to see him.
A fan on Reddit has posted the upcoming Justice League soundtrack, which features a song called Unite The Seven by Imagine Dragons.
This largely implies that Green Lantern will finally be introduced in the blockbuster movie.
This follows another spot back in June when the DC Extended Universe opening of Wonder Woman featured all the main superheroes in the franchise, including Green Lantern standing with Justice League.
In previous months Hammer has been rumoured to have scored the role, with the actor often teasing fans about it on his Twitter account.
While a Justice League appearance hasn’t been officially confirmed, a Green Lantern Corps movie is due in 2020 – with no announced casting as of yet.
Justice League will be released in UK cinemas on November 17, 2017.
If there’s one character who stays calm in most of Free Fire, it’s Ord. The American criminal is as well-composed as his swanky gray jacket and black turtleneck. Rarely is Ord the character shouting and screaming in director Ben Wheatley‘s (High-Rise) new, 85-minute-long shoot ’em up..
Wheatley and co-writer Amy Jump don’t waste a second of Free Fire‘s runtime, which couldn’t come at a more right time before some bloated action movies arrive this summer. The film is as lively as some of its characters, most of whom you’d like to see make it out of the warehouse. Especially Ord.
We recently discussed the role with actor Armie Hammer, who also told us a bit about the character’s backstory, working with Wheatley, and more.
I love how Ord just walks into this movie. He’s so cocksure from the start.
Oh, it was great, yeah. I remember just bopping [my head] beforehand, just kind of humming to myself. And be like “do do doot do, all right, let’s fuckin do this.”
Was it the first scene we shot? The film was shot in sequence, right?
I don’t think it was the first scene that we shot. Actually, I think we shot it towards the end almost. All the stuff in the warehouse was all shot in sequence. The little bits and pieces we had to get up depending on when the docks were available and all that stuff. It was a lot of fun, man. Especially because you got a soldier holster, you got a gun in there. And you feel like, what do they say, the dog’s bollocks.
How was the character described on the page?
Oh jeez, Ben would probably be able to tell you better than I would, but I think it was like bored, you know…. I actually couldn’t tell you, to be perfectly honest. It was so long ago, but it also changed so much in the process of shooting the movie because the actors came in, they brought their own ideas and Ben, being the writer and director, was there with us at all times so any ideas immediately, if they were good, got implemented. And things changed so much, you know, the original script wasn’t a comedy, it was like a hard-boiled action movie that just turned into a comedy.
How did your character evolve? Were there any pivotal moments for you on the set?
I think I was able to use the information, you know, this took place in ’78, so it would make sense that seven, eight years ago this guy was in Vietnam. So the moments that would normally freak other people out, like being shot at or seeing someone die, being someone who has that background, it wouldn’t really surprise him or shock him or throw him that off. So it was kind of funny the way it happens. So this guy gets shot in the ass, this guy gets run over, whatever, it doesn’t freak him out; it kind of makes him laugh.
But it also, I think what was kind of fun about Ord is he gives the audience permission to laugh. If there’s someone in the middle of it laughing about this whole thing, then it makes you feel okay about laughing at it instead of having to feel empathetic as a human.
Was there anything else about that character’s past you imagined?
He was an explosives expert; he was kind of a sick twisted dude. He preferred booby traps, but also really perverted booby traps. He’s the kind of guy who laughs when someone gets their head run over.
Ben just told me him and Amy wrote the part for you.
What does that say about me?
[Laughs] They like your work. Did you know that when you read it?
No, I didn’t know that. I later heard that and I was really pleased, and it was kind of a big honor. But I didn’t know that, and I read it, and I was familiar with Ben, so I just thought “There’s no way I’m not gonna do this.” He didn’t think I would do it, or something like that. But as far as I was concerned as soon as I read it, and as soon as I knew he was doing it, there was no way I wasn’t gonna do it.
Do you have a favorite Ben Wheatley film?
Oh man, Sightseers is fantastic and funny, Kill List is one of the most disturbing movies I’ve ever seen. A Field in England is also hilarious and bizarre, and if you’ve ever taken psychedelics at all you’re totally like “Oh yes!” High-Rise is also such an achievement, and it’s so incredible the way he goes through it all in one location, it’s really interesting. He’s a great filmmaker.
What kind of environment does he create on set?
Tense. He just yells and screams at everybody all the time. No, it’s really an easy fluid collaborative atmosphere, and it moves really quickly, and we shoot a lot, and it feels really expedient, and it’s nice.

After working with the actor on Free Fire, director Ben Wheatley has a role for Armie Hammer in his next picture, Freakshift. The film is already set to star Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina) in a story about monster hunters. Hammer, who’s built like a tree, could convincingly dispose of a few monsters, but it’s unclear whether he’s on the team hunting them down.
Below, learn more about the Armie Hammer Freakshift casting.
According to Deadline, Hammer is playing Vikander’s love interest. The outlet reported Vikander’s casting as well, and they described the story as an “all-guns-blazing action thriller about a band of misfits who hunt down and kill nocturnal underground monsters.” Wheatley co-wrote Freakshift with his frequent collaborator (and wife), Amy Jump, who co-wrote and edited a few of his movies, including Kill List and High-Rise.
Filming is expected to begin on Freakshift this August, once Vikander wraps the video game adaptation, Tom Raider, and months after Wheatley and Hammer’s first of hopefully many collaborations, Free Fire, hits theaters. The movie, which Martin Scorsese executive produced, has made some passionate fans on the festival circuit, including our own Jacob Hall and Angie Han.
They both thoroughly enjoyed Hammer’s performance, praising him for playing one charming, funny, and smarmy asshole. “Armie Hammer makes the most of Ord’s above-it-all cool and somehow gets even better after Ord is dragged down into the dirt with the rest of them,” Han wrote in her review. She called Free Fire‘s feature-length shootout a “furiously entertaining exercise” that left her “buzzing with energy long” after she left the theater.
That description sure does sound like a Ben Wheatley film, whose movies have the power to last. When you leave the theater after seeing one of his films, you exit an experience you won’t easily or quickly forget. There’s nothing cookie-cutter about his movies. It looks like Freakshift is next for him, but another project he’s attached to is an adaptation of Frank Miller’s Hard Boiled, but we’ll have to wait and see on that Warner Bros. project.
Hammer has a promising year or so ahead of him, with his mostly solo performance in Mine and a performance Angie Han called “mesmerizing” in Luca Guadagnino’s Call Me By Your Name. The Social Network, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., and from the sound of it, Free Fire, show what charisma and talent Hammer has as an actor. He’s the kind of talent we want to see collaborating with Wheatley, who can probably help take the actor to some new, unexpected places.

Last weekend saw a brand new trailer for the upcoming Justice League movie featuring Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash.
While he didn’t appear, it’s confirmed that Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel is due to resurrect following his tragic death at the conclusion of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
However DC fans will know that in the comics one member of Justice League is missing in the form of the Green Lantern.
Following teases from Hammer that he’ll be taking on the role, BossLogic has produced a stunning fan poster of what the star would look like as the superhero.
The style of the picture follows the teaser posters from last week, which featured the confirmed characters.
While a Green Lantern Corps movie is being held back until 2020 – probably because of the universally panned 2011 Ryan Reynolds version – it is still possible that Hammer has already been cast and will cameo in the movie as Hal Jordan.
It continued: “But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.”
Justice League will be released in UK cinemas on November 17, 2017.
This year has already brought us the brutal gunplay of John Wick: Chapter 2, but there’s another shootout on the way this spring.
Free Fire is the latest film from director Ben Wheatley (High Rise, Sightseers, Kill List), and it looks like his most accessible, too. Sharlto Copley, Armie Hammer, Brie Larson, Cillian Murphy, Noah Taylor, Sam Riley, Michael Smiley and Jack Reynor all find themselves in a grimy warehouse with a weapons deal gone wrong, resulting in a feature-length shootout that is just as hilarious as it is energetic and wild.
Watch the new Free Fire trailer below to see what we’re talking about, but beware that there’s some NSFW language in this one.
Here’s an even wackier Japanese trailer that’s almost in the style of an episode of the 1966 Batman TV series:
The movie already played at TIFF last year where Angie Han caught the movie (she’s got a quote in the trailer above, in case you didn’t notice) and had this to say in her review:
“Wheatley stages a never-ending knock-down-drag-out fight, trapping one woman and about a dozen men in an abandoned warehouse and then inviting us to sit back and watch as the bullets and the jokes ricochet off one another. The result is a furiously entertaining exercise that left me buzzing with energy long after I’d left the theater.”
That all seems to come through in this quick trailer, as everyone is trying to kill each other, but they’re clearly not the most skilled assassins. From one dude who forgets what side he’s on to another dropping his gun after a thrown crowbar hits his hand, these are some clumsy criminals.
If you’d like to see more from Free Fire, you can check out a couple trailers that were released last year when the film was playing at TIFF.
Free Fire hits theaters on April 21, 2017.
Set in Boston around 1978, a large weapons deal is about to go down between a group of IRA militants and a cocky arms dealer. In an abandoned warehouse, a middle man and extra muscle have come along to make sure the deal goes smoothly. Tensions are running high and anger is close to the surface. The exchange appears to go well – until the first shot is fired. An explosion of violence and accusations ensue as everyone present fights for their life , and the big bag of money lying on the floor.

Armie Hammer is almost performing a one-man show in Mine. The Man from U.N.CL.E. star isn’t alone in Fabio Guaglione and Fabio Resinaro‘s thriller, but he spends much of it on his own in the frame, with one foot resting not-so-comfortably on a landmine in the desert. To stay alive, he’ll have to survive the next 52 hours by staying in one place.
Below, watch the Mine trailer.
Hammer plays a U.S. soldier who hesitates when he’s supposed to pull the trigger. His and his partner’s (Tom Cullen) mission goes to hell, forcing them to go on the run. The problem: it’s a little difficult to run away in a desert with 33 million landmines ready to go off. From Peter Safran, the producer of Buried, comes a movie that doesn’t look unlike Buried.
Here’s the trailer for Mine, which co-stars Tom Cullen (Weekend) and Annabelle Wallis (The Mummy):
There are a few movies this trailer calls to mind. Only a month before Mine opens in theaters, we’ll see Doug Liman’s The Wall, which is about two soldiers (Aaron Taylor-Johnson and John Cena) pinned down in one location. That’s more of a two-hander than Mine, but there are some obvious similarities between the two, at least based on the trailers.
A lot of Mine rests on Hammer’s shoulders. These kind of roles are likely challenging and a huge responsibility, but we’ll see if Hammer is up to the challenge. He’s a good, charismatic actor who’s worked with some material that hasn’t always matched his talents. He’s starred in a few misfires over the past few years, but he’s lately been landing some good jobs. We recently saw him in Tom Ford’s Nocturnal Animals and he’s got Ben Wheatley’s Free Fire and Luca Guadagnino’s Call Me by Your Name coming up. Angie gave Guadagnino’s film a rare 10 out of 10 at Sundance, writing that Hammer’s performance is “enchanting.”
Here’s the official synopsis:
This action-packed military thriller stars Armie Hammer (FREE FIRE, THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.) as a U.S. soldier who, stranded in the desert for 52 hours after a mission falls apart, must fight for survival against his enemies, the hostile environment, and the creeping psychological toll of his treacherous situation. Annabelle Wallis (ANNABELLE, THE MUMMY) and Tom Cullen (WEEKEND) co-star in this tense, explosive film from the producer of BURIED and THE CONJURING.
Mine opens in theaters and On Demand on April 7th.
