SpaceX’s plan to build a global, high-speed wireless internet network using satellites has taken another step forward. The FCC approved the company’s request to deploy more than 7,000 very-low-Earth orbit satellites for its Starlink network. It follows the regulator giving SpaceX the green light in March to launch 4,425 satellites.

When it’s complete, Starlink will be comprised of almost 12,000 satellites that will blanket the planet with a persistent internet connection. That should mean people in rural areas or other locations where more traditional types of connections are impractical can access a network with promised speeds of up to 1 Gbps.

SpaceX deployed two test satellites in February, and hopes to launch 1,600 in the next few years. However, the Starlink network may not be fully complete until the mid-2020s.

The FCC approved similar requests from Kepler, Telesat and LeoSat for those companies to also deploy hundreds of internet-providing satellites, which won’t exactly smooth concerns over space debris. Last week, SpaceX submitted a revised plan to place some satellites at a lower orbit than it originally proposed, in order to mitigate the problem.

Tencent hasn’t been having a great time ever since China established a new regulator that brought game approvals to a standstill. Back in August, it had to pull Monster Hunter: World from the Chinese market after regulators cancelled its license. Now, the internet giant has announced that it’s restructuring the company for the first time in six years due to challenges caused by tighter government regulations. In addition to bringing MH:World to China, Tencent owns the companies behind League of Legends and Clash of Clans, which are immensely popular mobile games in Asia. It also owns the social media and chat platform WeChat.

According to Reuters, the company’s market value has plummeted in the past months, as investors worry about the regulatory roadblocks it’s facing and its lack of clear overseas strategy. Back in August, Bloomberg reported that it lost over $ 160 billion in value since January this year, and considering its shares fell further just last week, that number most likely grew over the past couple of months.

Going forward, Tencent will implement changes focusing on its corporate offerings. It will consolidate three business groups into a single unit and will create a new one for the cloud and smart industries in order to improve its cloud-based services for corporate clients. It will also “further explore the integration of social, content and technology that is more suitable for future trends, and promote the upgrade from consumer internet to industrial internet.” In addition, it’s investing more money into research and development to make sure the company survives this ordeal.

The Department of Justice’s attempt to reverse the AT&T/Time Warner merger received some help yesterday from an unexpected source: the Federal Communications Commission.

The FCC previously allowed AT&T to buy Time Warner without having to undergo a lengthy public-interest review, despite pushback from Democrats in the Senate and FCC. The DOJ fought the merger alone, ultimately losing a court ruling that allowed AT&T to complete the acquisition.

But the DOJ appealed that court ruling last month, and yesterday the FCC gave the DOJ’s case a small boost. The FCC isn’t actually supporting the DOJ’s case, but the commission’s filing points out an error made by the US District Court for the District of Columbia. In US District Judge Richard Leon’s ruling against the DOJ, he said that he was “hesitant to assign any significant evidentiary value” to previous statements that AT&T and the AT&T-owned DirecTV made to the FCC. AT&T’s own statements to the FCC, made in the years prior to the AT&T/Time Warner merger, supported the DOJ’s case that a merged entity could raise the price of programming. Those AT&T statements were made as part of the FCC’s 2010 review of the Comcast/NBCUniversal merger and in other FCC proceedings.

Applying for a visa and can be one of the most frustrating parts of booking a trip with lengthy applications to fill and time constraints of getting everything sorted before you travel.

However, Myanmar may have come up with a solution that will ease the progress for travellers.

Last week, Myanmar introduced a fast-track tourist visa that has drastically cut down the time it takes for application approval.

The fast-track scheme now delivers confirmation of your visa within 24 hours of applying.

Unlike the usual working-day constraints, the fast-track visas are available all year-round including public holidays.

According to TTR Weekly, the online application can be found at the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population’s website.

Compared to the standard e-tourist visa that costs £35, the new fast-track visa will cost £40 with no refunds accepted.

The extra £6 guarantees a 24-hour approval turnaround 365 days of the year that travellers receive via email.

Hosted by the site ASEAN, tourists have the option to use a range of credit cards although the easy to use application still required a photograph.

The new visa is valid for more than 100 nationalities with a variety of entry and exit destinations including Yangon, Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw.

To improve the speed of the system further, payment methods have also changed. Alipay for e-visa applications is now in play according to the ministry’s statement on the updated system.

Any British traveller looking to Visit Myanmar requires a visa before travel.

In comparison to Myanmar, applying for a Visa in the UK isn’t always quite so quick.

According to Passport visa Express, 90% of straightforward, non-settlement applications were resolved within 24 hours.

However, when an interview was required, this application time is extended to 15 days.

When applying for a visa to settle in the UK, this process can take up to and over 12 weeks.

Although British travellers require a visa when travelling to Myanmar, there are many countries in which a visa is not required for travel.

The Passport Index, having released 2018 data back in February, found the UK to be the fourth most powerful passport in the world.

Alongside six other European countries, the UK has a Passport Index score of 159.

There are a total of 173 countries that British travellers can visit without a visa.

New 2018 additions to this list include Beijing, Vietnam, Kazakstan, Belarus and Qatar.

Trump’s approval numbers have hovered in the low to mid-40s for much of the last year, but have rallied in recent months. His overall job approval rating is now ahead of where Barack Obama’s was at this stage of his presidency.

These latest numbers come just hours after the president took to Twitter to blast Mexico for failing to do its part in stopping migration from Central America. In a series of tweets, Trump declared DACA “dead,” called again for a border wall, and seemed to mix up Mexico’s northern and southern borders.

Trump’s stance on gun control also appears to have struck a chord with the public. Following an op-ed by a retired Supreme Court Justice calling for the repeal of the Second Amendment, Trump’s vocal pro-gun response found favor with Americans. Despite anti-gun marches and round-the-clock television coverage, Rasmussen reported that most Americans outright reject repeal of the amendment.

Economic factors also played their part in the president’s ascent in the polls. The number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits fell late March to 215,000, the lowest level since 1973. Trump’s long-promised tax-cuts, introduced last November, caused his approval numbers to rebound from almost their lowest point ever, 37 percent at the start of the year.

While the Republican Party played its part in making Trump’s tax reforms a reality, establishment figures within the party have often opposed the president’s plans. Last month, House Speaker Paul Ryan spoke out against Trump’s plans to introduce punitive tariffs on steel imports.

Most Republican voters, however, side with Trump over GOP lawmakers. In another poll taken last October, 57 percent of Republican voters said that the party should be more like the president. Only 33 percent believed that Trump should be more like his party’s senators. In addition, 38 percent believed that Republican senators were a bigger obstacle for Trump than Democrat ones.

China’s capital city has given the green light to tech giant Baidu Inc to test self-driving cars on city streets, just days after an autonomous Uber vehicle killed a woman in Arizona.

Beijing gave Baidu, best known as China’s version of search engine Google, a permit to test its autonomous vehicles on 33 roads spanning around 105 kilometers (65 miles) in the city’s less-populated suburbs, the firm said in a statement.
