While a second wrote: “First thing I think of seeing Amanda in that running outfit. How do I look? Like a vibrator #BGT #BritainsGotTalent.”

“Is it appropriate on a family show for Amanda Holden to have a catsuit on with her raspberry ripples on show? #BGT #BritainsGotTalent,” a third added.

“In the last couple of years, my mum got diagnosed with cancer,” daughter, Honey revealed while fighting back tears. 

“It’s been a tough couple of years and to be here with my mum is the best thing that ever happened to me.”

Sammy confirmed she had overcome the awful illness and Honey added: “I’m so grateful for everything, I never thought when we were singing in the car it would bring us to this stage.”

The pair began their rendition of She Used to Be Mine by Sara Bareilles but Simon held up his hand to stop them and asked them if they would come back later with a more powerful song.

Honey and Sammy returned to the stage and left Amanda in tears with their rendition of Freya Ridings’s Lost Without You.

Once they had finished, Amanda commented: “Every single lyric that you got right and sang just seemed so poignant to your story, it was just the most wonderful thing to witness.”

The BGT judge stood up and pressed the Golden Buzzer sending the mother-daughter duo through to the live shows.

Britain’s Got Talent continues on Saturday at 8pm.

On Friday, the Trump administration’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that it did not think that current mercury emissions rules placed on coal-fired power plants were “appropriate and necessary,” based on the agency’s revised look at the costs and benefits of the rule.

The Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (MATS) rule has been in place for years, and energy companies that own coal-fired power plants are already in compliance. The rule places limits on the amount of mercury that a power plant can emit. Mercury emitted into the air can end up in soil and water, where it has “toxic effects on the nervous, digestive and immune systems, and on lungs, kidneys, skin and eyes,” in addition to causing developmental defects in children and babies, according to the World Health Organization.

But the coal industry has blamed the MATS rules for killing the power plants it sells to. Indeed, when the rule went into full effect in 2015, 30 percent of coal plant closures were tied to the cost of compliance with the rule. Today, coal plant closures continue not because of the MATS rule but because coal can’t compete with cheaper and relatively cleaner natural gas.

Whereas once a woman was told that mini skirts should not be worn past thirty, these days the style rules have been turned on their heads.

Holly Willoughby is a 37-year-old mother-of-three but she is also a beautiful woman with a fantastic figure – her long lean legs have been hard earned through ballet, boxing and pilates so why shouldn’t she celebrate them by wearing a higher hem line, particularly if the rest of her was covered up in a stylish sweater.

In today’s society, age is nothing but a number.

As a fellow thirty-something with a wardrobe full of leg baring numbers, I fully support her wardrobe choice.

Without getting the rulers out it’s hard to say how much difference there was in length between the banned skirt and its replacement but in my opinion it is time to ditch these draconian declarations on what a woman should and shouldn’t wear.

If France’s first lady Brigitte Marcon can wear a stylish mini dress at 64 on an official engagement and look fabulous, then there’s no reason why Holly – at almost half of her age – should have to lower her hem line for daytime television.

In my opinion, if you’ve got it, you should definitely flaunt it!

If you are surprised that Holly Willoughby has been banned from wearing too short skirts – attention-seeking, moi? – then you have not been following the career of one of TV’s favourites very closely.

This is the woman who once revealed that she never wore a pair of shoes before breaking them in in the bedroom.

Too much info, love, as there is now too much leg.

They’re all at it, these TV gals: wearing skirts that slide up to crotch level when they sit down and then complaining furiously when anyone gets an eyeful.

It is ironic in these #metoo times that the very women whinging about being objectified seem to leave home wearing not much more than a belt and if you’re going to appear on daytime telly then you should dress accordingly.

In other words, keep your kit on. And wear a much longer skirt.

Super Troopers 2 has been a long time coming. Over a decade ago, though, there was already talk of more Super Troopers. Five years ago, Broken Lizard had a completed script and were ready to go. Director Jay Chandrasekhar even considered a prequel set in the ’70s about the troopers’ fathers patrolling the highway. In 2009, Broken Lizard decided to make a sequel instead, and that long-awaited sequel is finally coming out next spring…on a day that is very, very appropriate.

Fox Searchlight will release the sequel to the 2001 cult comedy on April 20, 2018. Ahem.

Super Troopers remains Broken Lizard’s funniest movie, although there are a lot of laughs in Beerfest. 4/20 is an appropriate release date for the comedy. I’m sure the sequel will assisst in brightening up that special day for those who choose to celebrate it.

Cast member Kevin Hefferman recently shared the news that the movie is finished. He said it was now up to Fox Searchlight to settle on a date and get the marketing campaign rolling. During an interview with Vermont’s Seven Days (via Uproxx), Steve Lemme, who plays MacIntyre “Mac” Womack, revealed the release date. “There is [a release date], but I can’t tell you what it is,” he told Seven Days. “Here’s what I can tell you: It’s springtime and there’s a very obvious date, which happens to fall on a Friday this year.”

It’s a really entertaining chat. Lemme doesn’t say much about the sequel, but he did tease a lovemaking scene between him and one of the fellow officers and explained a difference between the sequel and the original:

Well, we do all have cellphones in this movie. But otherwise, it seems like time has stood still for these state troopers. Which is good, because we didn’t really want to answer the question of where these guys have been for the last 15 years — although we do answer it.

As time has stood still for the characters, I wonder how much they’ve grown, if it at all, since the 2001 comedy, which has evolved into a cult favorite over the years. It was the fans who got the sequel made, too, following a quick and successful Indiegogo campaign. Broken Lizard needed $ 2 million to produce the comedy, and they reached their goal in a single day. A number of people, myself included, are going to want to see this sequel come 4/20.

The dress featured a heavy lace floral pattern which was completely see-through.

She protected her modesty with a sheer underskirt and sheer panel on the top.

The dress, in a blush pink colour, had a demure length and came down to her mid-calf.

It also featured fashion-forward asymmetric sleeves and a pretty white collar.

His songs and poems are laden with symbolism, and their intentions are rarely set out without ambiguity. Like many other great poets, his compositions invite you, the reader, to find yourself in them. They invite you to project their insights upon your own life.

As such, the way that people interpret the lyrics often says more about them than anything else. And if Cohen’s spirit hasn’t yet transcended to some higher plane, one suspects it’s sitting in front of its afterlife TV set, allowing itself a wry smile. Cohen is in the news today because NBC’s Brian Williams quoted one of his lyrics proudly on air last night as a way of praising Donald Trump’s big-boy after-dinner decision to throw some big bombs at the bad man in Syria.

“We see these beautiful pictures at night from the decks of these two U.S. Navy vessels in the Eastern Mediterranean,” said Williams as he admired footage of some Tomahawk missiles heading off toward their unfortunate destination. “I am tempted to quote the great Leonard Cohen: ‘I’m guided by the beauty of our weapons.’ And they are beautiful pictures of fearsome armaments making what is, for them, a brief flight over this airfield.”

The line Williams quoted is from “First We Take Manhattan,” the opening song to Cohen’s 1988 album I’m Your Man, and a song that is not, it’s fair to say, one whose intention was to cheerlead American airstrikes in the Middle East. Pitchfork noted this morning that Cohen once described the song to the Washington Post as “a terrorist song. I think it’s a response to terrorism. There’s something about terrorism that I’ve always admired. The fact that there are no alibis or no compromises. That position is always very attractive. [But] I don’t like it when it’s manifested on the physical plane — I don’t really enjoy terrorist activities.”

In this context, the line that Williams is quoting seems very much an allusion to the latter half of Cohen’s statement — the idea that an uncompromising devotion to one’s ideals almost inevitably ends in violence. In the song, it’s preceded by the following: “I’m guided by a signal in the heavens/ I’m guided by this birthmark on my skin.” These are not exactly rational motivations. They’re the motives of a zealot, cackling in glee as he watches the infidels burn. The “beauty of our weapons” line is one that’s delivered completely straight-faced by the song’s narrator — but, of course, if the listener isn’t given to similar zealotry, it’s served with a healthy side of irony, because we know that there’s nothing beautiful about the death of innocents.

In using these words so happily, then, Williams is essentially identifying himself with the song’s narrator, who is a terrorist and a cheerleader for violence. And thus, despite the cries of outrage this afternoon, it turns out that Williams’ adoption of the line is entirely damn appropriate — but not in the way that our hapless newscaster might have expected.
