Attention, campers: We’re about to spoil the events of Wednesday’s American Horror Story finale. You’ve been warned! Margaret Booth may not have lived to be AHS: 1984‘s final girl, but she still played an unforgettable role in Wednesday’s finale, one that cost her an arm and a leg. And another arm. And another leg. “Ryan called me one day, and he said to me through laughter, ‘Well, we figured out what we’re doing to Margaret. We’re throwing her in a wood chipper!’” Leslie Grossman tells TVLine. “My first reaction was, ‘That is the single most perfect way for that character to meet her end.’ I think it was quite appropriate!” Truth be told, Grossman is oversimplifying her character’s demise. Camp Redwood’s glamorous-yet-villainous director wasn’t just tossed into a wood chipper — not in one piece, anyway. The vengeful spirits of her victims began by severing each of her limbs from her torso, chipping away at her in pieces. “It was as horrible as you could possible imagine, but isn’t that what she deserved?” Grossman says. “Let’s be honest here.” Below, Grossman elaborates on the events of AHS: 1984‘s surprisingly upbeat finale, including her thoughts on Brooke and Donna sharing the title of final girl. TVLINE | Your presence on Horror Story has increased steadily over the past few seasons, which is exciting. Does that come with any added pressure? TVLINE | We got a much happier ending than I was expecting. What did you think of the way these stories wrapped up? TVLINE | In your mind, will the ghosts remain trapped at camp forever? Or will someone come along and save them someday? TVLINE | Speaking of weaving, Margaret had some really outrageous looks this season. Did you have a favorite? TVLINE | You also got a lot of the best lines. Do any spring to mind? TVLINE | I loved Courtney! I didn’t know he was going to be in this season, so I was very excited when he appeared. Your thoughts on AHS: 1984‘s surprisingly happy ending? The season as a whole? Whatever’s on your mind, drop it in a comment below. From botched stews to magical shampoos, Shadowhunters‘ third season has significantly slowed things down for “Malec,” giving fans plenty of time to appreciate the couple’s more normal, less life-threatening ordeals. And Matthew Daddario couldn’t be happier.MORE ‘AHS’
TVLINE | You said Margaret had this coming, and I agree, but I liked her.
You know what? People were great to me this year. Like, really lovely, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. The main thing people said was, “I love you and I hate her,” which means I was doing my job. You need characters like that to meet a horrible death. She’s so terrible! People have asked me if she had any redeeming qualities, and she really did not. I don’t think there was even a place for a redemptive storyline for Margaret. She needed to be put down in the most violent of ways. She really had it coming, didn’t she?
Only pressure in that I always want to do the very best that I can. I’m very aware that Ryan Murphy has given me a gift, and I want to make sure that I make the most of the opportunity that he’s giving me. So I’ve only felt pressure from myself, but I’ve been fortunate enough to be surrounded by unbelievable actors. And everybody says this about their own show, but I know we have the best crew in the business. On Ryan’s shows, the hair, the makeup and the wardrobe are so integral, so all of those things were like scaffolding for me to lean on. My job is just to not f–k it up.
I loved that Donna and Brooke shared the final girl status, and I thought it was so lovely that Jingles got a redemptive storyline. I loved that combination of camp and gore and shock and horror with — for lack of a better term — a lot of heart. I thought we needed that lovely ending. I was glad to see that Montana found love. It was such a nice ending, even if it also had someone going through a wood chipper.
In my mind, the ghosts will live on in Camp Redwood. The show still does so well, and I could see it going on for years and years, so it would be a lot of fun to go back and revisit those ghosts down the line and see what’s going on there.
TVLINE | Never say never. This season is connected to at least one more.
Yes! And I love that Margaret owns properties from [Asylum]. I love how they weave in all those little Easter eggs.
That’s a difficult question. I really loved the 1989 iteration of Margaret. Ivana Trump was very much the mood board. It was Dynasty and Ivana Trump. Lou Eyrich oversees all of the costuming, but Paula Bradley was the one who executed it this season, always under a time crunch. I don’t know how she did it. All of the stuff I wore was vintage, except for the pink coat I got killed in, because we needed multiples for all the stunts. … I thought that the camp outfit was perfect for Margaret, but I’m not going to miss those high-waisted pleated shorts and knee-high socks. Those I’m very happy to say goodbye to, even though they served a purpose for the character.
As per usual, Ryan made sure I had the most fun things to say. Nearest and dearest to my heart was, “They’re dead, Courtney! Kajagoogoo is dead!” I think that’s what it was. I couldn’t look at Leslie Jordan in that scene. Actually, I couldn’t look at him in any of the scenes we did together, because he’s so funny.
I didn’t know he was going to be in it this season until I saw the pictures from his fitting. I was like, “Wait, that’s who’s playing Courtney?” I literally jumped up and down, like a child. His Beverly Leslie on Will & Grace is one of the true great comedic performances ever on television. And he is even better when you meet him. That’s the thing about working in the Ryan world, you get to work with all these people you’ve admired for so long.

President Donald Trump applauded the near passage of the GOP tax bill Wednesday during a Cabinet meeting in which he made a false claim about its affect on the Affordable Care Act.
Trump pointed to the healthcare changes contained in the tax bill, saying the elimination of the Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate amounts to a repeal of Obamacare.
“The individual mandate is being repealed, that means Obamacare is being repealed because they get their money from the individual mandate,” Trump said.
The mandate, which requires most Americans to get health insurance or pay a fine, is repealed in the GOP tax bill. But that does not mean the entire law is being repealed.
In fact, according to the Congressional Budget Office, the Obamacare individual insurance markets are likely to remain relatively stable — albeit with a lower enrollment total — even without the mandate.
But the mandate repeal could still bring about adverse affects on the healthcare market.
The CBO estimated that 13 million more people would go without insurance by 2027 without the mandate than if it remained in place. It also estimated that premiums in Obamacare markets would jump 10% over the current baseline.
Most consumers will be shielded from the increase due to subsidies from the federal government, but as many as 2 million Americans could be priced out of insurance, according to the CBO.

NATO’s finances featured high on the agenda during the first face-to-face meeting between Trump and Angela Merkel. Trump predictably restated his commitment to making all the allies pay their “fair share” of two percent of GDP to maintain the military alliance.
“I reiterated to Chancellor Merkel our strong support for NATO, as well as the need for our NATO allies to pay their fair share for the cost of defense,” Trump said at the joint White House news conference on Friday. “Many nations owe vast sums of money from the past years, and it’s very unfair to the US.”
Merkel was reassured that “NATO was of prime importance for the US” and promptly pledged to meet Trump’s demands and reach the spending target by 2024.
“I was gratified to know that the President underlined how important he thinks NATO,” Merkel said. “We committed to this 2 percent goal until 2024 we – last year we increased our defense spending by 8 percent, and we’re going to work again and again on this.”
Merkel has seemingly softened her stance on the spending issue and did not make mention of her idea to widen the definition of “defense” to somewhat dodge Trump’s demands.
“There’s no question we need to do more, but questions of development aid, crisis prevention and others are just as important,” Merkel said at a news conference in February. “My belief is we should all be aware of NATO’s value to us all.”
The change in Chancellor Merkel’s tone is not very surprising, German academic, economist and professor Richard Werner believes.
“She’s very much used to getting her orders from the US, although, I suppose, she being used to clearer or a most of a singular line of instructions from the US,” Werner told RT.
“And at the moment she’s a bit confused, because she’s getting probably one set of arguments from her minders which are closely linked to the parts of the US, perhaps, President Trump is criticizing, and President Trump on the other hand. It’s not surprising that she will, in the end, do what’s being said from the US.”
While Merkel has apparently caved into US demands, some high-ranking German officials continue to show reluctance towards straightforward spending increases.
Ahead of Merkel’s visit to the US, Germany’s Defence Minister Ursula von der Leyen suggested revising the very principles of the alliance members’ spending — proposing an “activity index,” which would take into account participation in foreign missions.
More “active” countries, according to von der Leyen’s idea, should pay less, and those, reluctant to participate in actual military activities, should fork out more.
“For me, the question is who is really providing added value to the alliance,” told von der Leyen AFP.
Merkel however, appeared to ignore such arguments, which raises serious questions about Germany’s independence, Werner noted.
“She could have made a case that Germany has actually been doing quite a lot for the US, sending German troops to fight in US wars abroad,” Werner said. “Germany is a very unusual country because the question is whether it’s actually a country, or whether it’s just an occupation zone because apparently, the occupation status of 1945 is still on the books. And so, of course, the US has legally still a lot of power over Germany.”
Earlier this month, German FM Sigmar Gabriel also questioned the feasibility of NATO’s spending quota’s.
“I am concerned that politicians make public promises that they can’t fulfill later on,” Gabriel said. “There is no apodictic 2 percent goal, but rather … we should be moving in that direction.”
Only five out of 28 NATO nations are currently hitting the two percent of GDP spending mark — the US, the UK, Estonia, Greece, and Poland.
The US is the biggest contributor, spending roughly 2.5 times more than the rest of the allies combined. Donald Trump vowed to change the situation during his election campaign, even calling the alliance “obsolete,” which caused anxiety among its European allies and fueled the idea of a separate EU army structure.
Some NATO countries, however, promised to swiftly increase spending to meet the demands. At least one more country, Romania, expects to meet the two percent mark in 2017.
Trump has meanwhile softened his rhetoric, clarifying that the alliance was only “obsolete” in terms of confronting modern threats like global terrorism and increasingly expressing “strong support” for NATO. The US President, however, seems to be equally committed to the idea of making the allies actually foot their bills.
