Wanda Maximoff (played by Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) are still stuck in an eerie alternate reality, but someone seems to be investigating from the outside. Eagle-eyed Marvel aficionados may have deciphered who’s trying to contact the supernatural superhero in the second episode of WandaVision on Disney Plus. Some observant comic book enthusiasts seem to have exposed Randall Park’s first appearance as Agent Jimmy Woo in the second episode of WandaVision. While the Fresh off the Boat star is confirmed to be joining the series in a more physical role, Agent Woo appears to be trying to contact Wanda via an ominous radio signal. Episode two of the series leaps forward in time to the 1960s, and kicks off when Wanda and Agnes (Kathryn Hahn) attend a meeting for the women of the neighbourhood, led by the uptight Dottie (Emma Caulfield Ford). Wanda’s illusions grind to a halt when a mysterious voice asks ‘Who’s doing this to you, Wanda?’ from a nearby wireless. READ MORE: WandaVision Easter Eggs: Is HYDRA holding Wanda captive? Marvel fans are convinced that’s the voice of Jimmy Woo, now working for the intelligence organisation known as S.W.O.R.D. One perceptive viewer summed up the theory on a recent Reddit thread, following the premiere of WandaVision’s first two episodes last Friday. They said: “That voice over the airwaves was definitely Jimmy Woo from Ant Man and the Wasp (Randall Park).” Woo made his first appearance in the Ant-Man sequel, where he was established as a former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent whom the FBI recruited to be Scott Lang’s (Paul Rudd) parole officer. As the mystery unravels over the next four episodes, Agent Woo is likely to make further appearances as more of S.W.O.R.D.’s investigation into Wanda’s hallucinations is revealed. Moreover, the sprawling Marvel Cinematic Universe is notorious for wrapping up its films with post-credit stingers to tease the Avengers’ upcoming battles. Having already built a rapport with Scott Lang/Ant-Man, his role in WandaVision could neatly set up the tiny hero’s next adventures with his partner Hope Van Dyne/The Wasp (Evangeline Lilly). Randall Park is speculated to make another appearance in the upcoming sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which will also set up the next Avengers-level threat, Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror. DON’T MISS: As the first entry into the MCU since 2019, WandaVision could revitalise the blockbuster franchise even more with a surprise cameo from the two Ant-Man stars. Meanwhile, while Woo is speculated to have been reinvented as an agent of S.W.O.R.D., which is connected to S.H.I.E.L.D., the same fan offered an alternative theory. They continued: “Guessing that the FBI got involved in some missing persons’ cases and that intersected with Wanda’s infatuation with this reality where she can have Vision back. “Dottie and all these people may have just been a genuine suburb that got taken hostage inadvertently.” It’s still unclear if Wanda is in charge of her idyllic new reality, but S.W.O.R.D. definitely seems to be trying to breach her powerful illusions. Fans got their first glimpse of the new organisation when Wanda noticed its logo brandished across an uncanny, red toy helicopter she found in the second black-and-white episode. Another episode is set to air this Friday, so MCU fans will undoubtedly be keeping their eyes open for more references to the world beyond Wanda’s strange new reality. WandaVision continues Fridays on Disney Plus.

One of the most entertaining aspects of Ant-Man and The Wasp was how the film played with the characters’ shrinking and growing powers. Marvel obviously relied on CGI to turn that building into a roller suitcase and that Helly Kitty pez dispenser into a massive weapon, but we could only guess how much of each scene was real and how much were visual effects. Now, Rodeo, the VFX company behind all those fun scenes, have given us a glimpse into how they were shot and which parts of the set had to be covered in green screen.
The video also gives you a idea of how the company blew up and shrank Hank’s cars and how it designed the team’s ant friends. It’s a short but informative look at how Hollywood creates movies that depend so much on computer graphics — more specifically, how Marvel shoots the action-packed sfx-rich entries to its cinematic universe.

22 July: Somewhere around the 25-minute mark of Paul Greengrass’ harrowing dramatization of the 2011 Oslo terror attacks, I had to really ask myself if I wanted to keep watching a madman pick off teenagers one by one. It’s a question worth asking yourself before pressing play, and no one will blame you if your answer is a hard “no.” But there’s much to recommend in Greengrass’s latest, though he expends a bit too much screen time on how mean people were to the shooter’s lawyer, drifting into the waters of morally dubious false equivalence, and the creation of a big dramatic face-off to conclude the film feels a touch contrived. But it’s undeniably effective; what the survivor (Jonas Strand Gravli, searing) says, and how he says it, is pointed and potent.
The Kindergarten Teacher: Maggie Gyllenhaal is smashingly good as a 20-plus year kindergarten teacher who takes an intense interest in a student that seems to be a poetry prodigy — perhaps, it soon seems, too intense an interest. Writer/director Sara Colangelo (adapting Nadav Lapid’s 2014 Israeli film) shifts from character drama to comedy of desperation and back again, and does so with such nimble grace, we hardly notice the sense of dread she’s sneaking in. It becomes one of those films where there’s no doubt something terrible is going to happen; it just becomes a matter of what, and when. The pieces don’t all snap into place, but the skill and bravado of that Gyllenhaal performance keeps the picture humming.

Ex Libris: The New York Public Library: The legendary documentarian Frederick Wiseman has spent the better part of a half-century exploring the ins and outs of worthy institutions, so he’s a natural fit for a peek behind the scenes of the NYPL. But the ideal match of reporter and subject goes beyond that — he seems to be interested in literally everything, and that’s what this library offers. It’s not just a repository for books; it houses art and information, hosts public talks and private events, and functions as a valuable community center in neighborhoods rich and poor. Throughout the (as usual, leisurely) film, there are wonderful cuts that indicate the breadth of what this organization provides, from, for example, a piano recital at the Lincoln Center branch to a jobs expo at the Bronx Library Center. This library wants to provide both of those things to its patrons; Wiseman’s exquisite film sees the value of that mission, and shares it.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: The increasingly stifling seriousness of the Marvel movies — which came to a bit of a head with Infinity War — is again charmingly subverted by Peyton Reed’s sequel to his 2015 comic adventure. That film was breezy fun that felt as though it had to switch off to fulfill the obligations of the Marvel house style; this time, it seems like Reed’s been given a longer leash, so even the big set pieces are injected with inventive visual gags, and moments of overwrought backstory are subverted altogether. As before, it mostly works because of Paul Rudd’s formidable charisma (there’s an early montage, set to the Partridge Family’s “C’mon, Get Happy,” that’s like courtroom evidence of his likability), and while Michael Peña again steals the show, Randall Park also lands some very funny moments, and Michelle Pfeiffer, predictably, slays. (Includes deleted scenes, gag reel, and featurette.)
ON BLU-RAY
Shampoo: Hal Ashby’s 1975 Warren Beatty vehicle (a new addition to the Criterion Collection) does something miraculous: it takes what could’ve been a simple, giggly sex-com premise, and uses it as a vehicle for a genuinely probing exploration of a flawed character, and those in his orbit. Beatty plays a hot-stuff Beverly Hills hairdresser, engaged in affairs with multiple clients, all of whose husbands assume he’s safe because, y’know, he’s a hairdresser. That’s borderline Three’s Company territory, but screenwriter Robert Towne telescopes the action, sets it all on Election Night 1968, and somehow manages to make his protagonist’s wanderlust into an apt metaphor for the decaying of America. Goldie Hawn, Julie Christie, and Lee Grant are all scorching as the women he will, to varying degrees, disappoint, while Beatty turns in one of his finest performances as a guy who’s coasted for years on looks and charm, yet knows, in the back of his mind, that it’s not gonna last much longer. (Includes critics’ conversation and Beatty TV appearance.)
Invasion of the Body Snatchers: One of the most influential sci-fi films of all time — which beget three official remakes and countless unauthorized imitations — joins Olive Films’ Signature Collection, and in spite of its familiarity, it still packs a punch. Kevin McCarthy returns to his small town after two weeks away and discovers something’s gone awry, with widespread reports of people freaked out by friends and relatives who aren’t what they seem; he’s assured it’s a mass delusion, but discovers something more sinister. The film’s analogues to events near its mid-‘50s release have been duly noted, and are certainly effective — but regardless of those parallels, it’s just a crackerjack piece of paranoia-infused sci-fi, with the great Don Siegel crafting scene after scene of unnerving pleasantry giving way to sweaty desperation. (Includes audio commentaries, production documents, trailer, and featurettes.)
ON DVD
Elvis Presley: The Searcher: When we talk about Elvis Presley, we’re talking about so much other stuff — celebrity, addiction, cultural appropriation, cult of personality — that it’s easy to forget to frame him as what we knew him as first: a musician. This exquisitely crafted documentary, which first aired in two parts on HBO earlier this year, seeks to reframe him on those original terms; the title refers to his endless curiosity as an artist, which brought him to the blues and R&B that were so essential to his style, and led him to continue experimenting, as a megastar, when he could. (Particular attention is paid to the ’68 comeback special and the muscular recordings that followed.) Clips and recordings a-plenty, of course, as well as insights from associates and admirers (heard but not seen, a potentially off-putting device that mostly works), will leave even casual admirers happy for the musical legacy he left, and mourning the recordings he didn’t make when the Colonel was forcing him to crank out a bunch of terrible movies and soundtrack albums. (Includes featurette.)

Sometime after Ant-Man and the Wasp finishes its theatrical run, it will stream on Netflix. But that’s the last Marvel Studios movie that will appear on the service, the New York Times reports. Starting with Captain Marvel, all Disney movies will land on the Mouse House’s upcoming streaming platform instead. So, Marvel fans will have to head to theaters find out the resolution to that Avengers: Infinity War cliffhanger, or catch the fourth Avengers movie on home video or Disney’s own streaming platform.
We’ve known for some time that Disney will shift its movies from Netflix to its own platform, which will launch in late 2019, despite Netflix’s attempts to hang on to the rights. Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm flicks will stream exclusively on Disney’s service, but because of a broadcasting deal Disney has with Turner, the original Star Wars movies may not be available on the platform when it launches — Disney is reportedly trying to buy back the rights. Meanwhile, Disney has no plans at the minute to yank the Netflix Original Marvel shows (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher and The Defenders) from their current home, so you’ll be able to stream them on Netflix for the foreseeable future.
Disney’s streaming service remains somewhat a mystery in terms of pricing and the name, but whatever shape the service takes, it certainly won’t be hurting for big-ticket shows and films. Pixar, Lucasfilm and Marvel are all working on content for the platform, including a Star Wars series from Jon Favreau. You could see some Fox content on the service too, should Disney’s purchase of most 21st Century Fox assets close as expected, along with more than 5,000 episodes of old Disney shows. However, the platform won’t include R-rated movies.

Ant-Man and the Wasp is another smash hit for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Taking place between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, the movie finds Ant-Man under house arrest.
Not yet, but you will be able to soon.
Ant-Man and the Wasp will likely follow the pattern Marvel has set out with previous movies.
The average wait between the Marvel movies cinema release and subsequent Netflix release is eight to nine months.
Ant-Man and the Wasp will likely arrive on Netflix between March and April 2019, or in the UK April and May 2019.
Netflix is perhaps the biggest International streaming giant, with movies and TV series from all over the world housed on the site.
AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR RELEASE ON DIGITAL HD: WHEN IS IT RELEASED?
Marvel movies have long lived on Netflix, with a lucrative deal struck between the production house and Netflix.
But Disney’s plans to release its own streaming service have made fans dubious about their access to Marvel flicks.
The New York Times took a microscope to the work behind the scenes of Disney’s streaming service.
The paper wrote: “Starting with Captain Marvel in March [2019], all of the films that Walt Disney Studios releases in theatres will subsequently flow to the Disney streaming platform instead of to Netflix.”
There are “no current plans” to move Marvel-themed television shows off Netflix, a Disney spokeswoman said.
According to a Bloomberg report from last week Disney has been trying to buy back rights to the older Star Wars films from Turner Broadcasting.
Rumblings about the Disney streaming service have been going for months, with speculation turning to confirmation.
Disney has not released any salient details like price points or international licensing.
AVENGERS 4: DID MARVEL LEAK NEW THEORY ABOUT IRON MAN AND THANOS?
In addition to the Marvel movies move, Disney is planning a live-action Star Wars show from Jon Favreau.
The studio is also planning originals based on properties like Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and Monsters Inc.,
A new Marvel show is also set to be in the works, but the ones currently on Netflix are, so far, confirmed to remain on Netflix.
Ant-Man and the Wasp is now playing in cinemas. Avengers 4 is in cinemas April 26, 2019.
The Marvel film is said to have grossed £3.8m in the country in the Friday-Saturday-Sunday window, rallying to £5m once previews of £1.2 million are factored in.
According to Screen Daily, Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again triumphed over the weekend, pulling in £4.1 million – a narrow victory, and one that only stands if one disregards Ant-Man and the Wasp’s pre-weekend preview takings.
Mamma Mia 2 has now made £39.3 million here – a very impressive feat by any metric, but still some distance away from the first film’s hefty £68.6 million.
The fact the film has sustained staying power over its three weeks on release points to positive word-of-mouth for the ABBA hit-packed musical, which is also holding up well in repeat visits.
As for Ant-Man and the Wasp, it’s noted that only The Incredible Hulk (£3.3m) and Captain America (£3m) had lower openings for MCU movies in the UK.
Possible reasons include the fact that hot weather returned to the country over the weekend, and the fact that hype around the film peaked around the time of its UK release – which was four weeks earlier.
The domination of the World Cup was thought to be a huge factor in Marvel’s decision to release the sequel a whole month later in the UK, although that may have ended up backfiring.
Evangeline Lily, who plays the Wasp, had previously voiced her disapproval of the staggered rollout.
“They always do that,” she told Empire. “Then what happens is people just pirate the movie and they see it in the worst way possible, like some shitty version online, instead of going to a theatre.
“They go in the end, but I don’t like that staggering. I’m really going to get to the bottom of this for you. I’m as p****d off about it as you are.”
Elsewhere in the UK, Mission: Impossible – Fallout dropped to third place with £2.5 million in its second week, while Incredibles 2 took £2.4 million in its fourth week to finish at No4.
Over in the US, Mission: Impossible – Fallout holds for a second week despite a 42% drop in takings, taking $ 35 million to bring its total to $ 124.5 million.
Christopher Robin follows in second with a $ 25 million debut, while new comedy The Spy Who Dumped Me takes third with $ 12.4 million.
Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again is in fourth place with $ 9 million, bringing its US total to $ 91.3 million, while The Equalizer 2 drops to fifth with $ 8.8 million for a $ 79.9 million total.
The actress spoke out about her ordeal this week on a podcast with The Lost Boys.
She said: “I’d had a bad experience on set with being basically cornered into doing a scene partially naked, and I felt had no choice in the matter.
“I was mortified and I was trembling when it finished.
“I was crying my eyes out and I had to go on to do a very formidable, very strong scene thereafter.”
The upsetting experience happened during filming an episode from the third season of Lost.
The show made Lilly a star and was one of the first major successes for Star Wars director JJ Abrams.
Lost co-creators and executive producers Abrams and Damon Lindelof, as well as executive producers Jack Bender and Carlton Cuse were swift to respond to the actress’s revelations.
ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: WHO DIES? UPDATED AVENGERS DEATH TOLL GALLERY BELOW
They issued a joint public statement to People magazine.
It said: “Our response to Evie’s comments this morning in the media was to immediately reach out to her to profoundly apologise for the experience she detailed while working on Lost.
“We have not yet connected with her, but remain deeply and sincerely sorry. No person should ever feel unsafe at work. Period.”
Lilly also clarified that after another unwelcome naked scene in season four, she told the producers: “‘I will never take my clothes off on this show again.’ And I didn’t.”
Lilly starred in all 118 episodes across six seasons of the show, which ran from 2004-2010.
She also admitted she became increasingly frustrated with the way her character Kate became reduced to a damsel in distress or endlessly chasing after the male leads. She added:
“And that irritated the sh** out of me.”
These days she is a a fully-fledged superhero on screen, and the first female Marvel character to have her name in a movie title.
ANT-MAN AND THE WASP IS OUT NOW IN THE UK
The death toll keeps rising.
Half of all life in the universe was turned to dust at the end of Infinity War when Thanos finally achieved his aim and used the Infinity Gauntlet for that terrible Snap.
Ant-Man and the Wasp hit UK cinemas this weekend and finally revealed the fates of even more characters.

WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS FOR ANT-MAN 2
]]>
The UK has had a very long and frustrating wait to catch up on the latest Marvel blockbuster.
So should impatient fans sit through the long credits at the end?
The MCU loves to include a mix of funny and hugely important mid and end credit scenes.
Ant-Man and the Wasp has both, with two scenes but only one is really, really important.
WARNING SPOILERS:
The final end credit scene is a fun, amusing comedy moment that many fans have already seen online when Marvel released it as a teaser. It features one of Scott’s ants.
The mid-credits scene is the important one.
It shows Scott going back into the Quantum Realm on a quick trip to collect particles when suddenly something terrible happens.
AVENGERS 4: MARVEL JUST GAVE BIGGEST CLUE YET WHO WILL KILL THANOS
The scene flashes back to the world outside and Hank and Hope Pym, along with the newly restored Janet Van Dyne, all turn to dust in The Snap.
This links up all the timelines but also leaves Scott stranded in the Quantum realm.
This must surely be important to what comes next in Avengers 4.
Doctor Strange had a clear vision of what had to happen to defeat Thanos. This scene, combined with the promo art from Avengers 4 showing Ant-Man with the main surviving team plus previous set photos of Scott Lang from Avengers 4 all point towards some form of time travel.
The photos show Scott Lang as Ant-Man in New York at the time of the battle that closed the first Avengers movie. Thor, Iron Man and Captain America are also shown.
The Quantum Realm is known to bend space, time and what we think of as reality.
Will Scot discover a way to travel back in time while he is in The Quantum Realm, which will be key to defeating Thanos and bringing back everyone lost in The Snap?
