“Later Matt Hancock came to the House of Commons chamber and said that they had offered £60million and that was still on the table. “It’s really hard to describe how chaotic this process has been over the past 10 days. “The upshot is that we are going into Tier 3 restrictions after months and months of being in Tier 2 restrictions, people unable to see family and businesses struggling to operate without any help from the government. We’re just in complete shock.” Singh commented: “The reason it broke down yesterday is because Andy Burnham wanted 65 and he wasn’t given 65 so it obviously, for whatever reason, the government have thrown their toys out the pram and it is 22, and who knows what will happen today. “The point I’m asking is I just want to know why Andy Burnham asking for £65 million when neighbouring counties accepted £56 million?” Her professional dance partner Giovanni Pernice added: “You are wonderful. We laugh, we cry, we fight and we argue and we’ve done everything but I’ve loved every single second. “I think you are inspirational and we did this dance and wanted to send a message. “You are a phenomenal lady and I am so proud of everything we’ve done. “I’m here to say thank you, thank you, thank you.” Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday on BBC One at 7pm. Simon Cowell, 59 welcomes a number of champions from Britain’s Got Talent this weekend for the special The Champions series. While he may be looking forward to seeing former contestants return, he may not feel the same about the judging panel. The media mogul heads up the panel with Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon. And, ahead of the series launch, Simon has spoken out about which judge he finds the most “annoying”. David has gotten into water fights with Simon, dropped his pants live on air and even joked about the head judge’s sex life love on TV. It’s therefore not too surprising to hear Simon has complained of David’s wacky behaviour and his love of stealing the spotlight. Speaking about his fellow judge, Simon said: “David is David .He just loves being the centre of attention. “He’s like all comics, you know, they live for that attention. You’ll never ever change him.” However, Simon admitted the show wouldn’t be the same with David. “As annoying as he is if he wasn’t there, I think you’d miss him,” he commented. Simon went on to joke David doesn’t understand the Golden Buzzer is for the performer and not for him. The father-of-one continued: “Even if he’s got the golden buzzer he’s parading up and down in front of the audience and I’m like, ‘When you press your Golden Buzzer it doesn’t mean it’s for you, you give somebody else the attention’, which he just doesn’t understand because it’s always all about him!” His comments come after David spoke about Simon’s recent weight loss, complimenting his slimmed down figure. When asked to compare footage from the early years at Britain’s Got Talent, he said: “Well, Simon looks younger now, which is curious. I don’t know how he managed that!” This weekend will see the first group of returning champions battle it out to be crowned the ultimate winner. Two acts from each episode will make it through the finale, one being a Golden Buzzer act chosen by one of the judges or presenters and another is voted by fans in the audience. The winner of the show will receive the champions trophy as well as a cash prize. Some of the returning acts performing include Paul Potts, George Sampson, Boogie Storm and the dancing stormtroopers. And it wouldn’t be the same without the Britain’s Got Talent presenters Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly who will be returning to host. Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions starts Saturday on ITV at 8pm. Bradley Walsh, 58, welcomed four contestants to The Chase yesterday afternoon and the first two players got the ball rolling by securing a steady jackpot of £10,000. After completing a cash builder round, it was time for contestant Deanne to face The Sinnerman star Paul Sinha, 49, with the Chaser offering her a higher and lower offer. Contestants usually stick with the amount they’ve accumulated to make it back to for the Final Chase, but Deanne wasn’t feeling too confident and took minus £1,000 away from the jackpot prize. Deanne’s fellow contestants didn’t seem too pleased with the decision and neither did viewers of the ITV quiz show at home, especially when the contestant went on to win a share of the cash prize in the Final Chase. After Deanne took home £3,000 alongside two of her fellow team mates, despite accepting Paul’s lower offer, viewers took to Twitter to comment on the win. One viewer posted: “Noooooooo!! So annoying when people pick the minus offer.” Another remarked: “Deane didn’t deserve a penny. Nothing annoys me more than people who go low.” Whilst a third stated: “When you take the minus and don’t answer a single question you should be taken outside and put on a bus with no money.” A fourth wrote: “Omg Deanne u actually ok? Takes a minus offer then answers no questions??? Go home Deanne #thechase.” Explaining herself before taking on Paul the first time, Deanne said: “I really didn’t want to do this. I’ve said all the time I didn’t want to do this.” The contestant continued: “I’m here for the day and I want to join those two at the end. So, I’m going to take the -£1,000,” she continued, to which Bradley replied: “Do you know what, I don’t blame you.” Paul chimed: “There’s no doubt that team will be stronger with you back and actually for the sake of £13,000 I don’t think that’s the worst decision I’ve ever seen.” After Paul got six questions wrong, some viewers commended Deanne on taking home £3,000 and thought her earlier decision so she could make it back for the Final Chase was beneficial. One viewer opined on the micro-blogging site: “Deanne answered a couple of questions and added a step, without her they wouldn’t have got there. #thechase #prayforDeanne.” Another added: “tbh I know they won by two but the Sinnerman really could’ve squeezed an answer in last second, which would mean that Deanne was the extra step needed #TheChase.” A third supporter wrote: “#TheChase frankly I think it is game over in the teams favour. @paulsinha not on great form in the final tonight.” Earlier this week, another batch of contestants tried their luck at going home with some money by taking on The Dark Destroyer star, Shaun Wallace, 59, which led Bradley to issue the Chaser with a warning. After the first contestant made it through, Shaun was eager to knock out the rest of the team and with one question between the second contestant and a place in the Final Chase, The Dark Destroyer wanted to put the spooks on the player. Bradley didn’t mention the matter, which left Shaun to remark: “Hold on, one question shoot out,” with the host replying: “I didn’t realise it was such a big deal.” Shaun said: “For him it will be. Because I’m going to knock him out,” to which Bradley replied: “Alright, settle down!” Presenter Alexander Armstrong and his assistant Richard have worked together on Pointless for over a decade now. The duo are used to teasing each other on the popular BBC series and tonight’s edition was no different, as Richard, 48, launched straight into taking a swipe at his colleague. Tonight’s episode of Pointless Celebrities was musical theatre-themed, and Alexander, 49, introduced the pairs first of all. Former Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Joanne Clifton joined ex-soap star and performer Ray Quinn. Phantom of the Opera and Jesus Christ Superstar West End star Ben Forster took to the podium alongside Wicked musical favourite Kerry Ellis. Hannah Waddingham and Jenna Russell made up the third team, while ex-Blue singer Duncan James and Aladdin performer Jade Ewen completed the ranks. But just as Alexander finished off introducing all of the celebrities and their various skills, Richard turned things back onto him. “It’s annoying when people can do everything isn’t it,” Richard suddenly commented, staring his co-host down with a sly grin. Seemingly puzzled by Richard’s thinking, Alexander remained silent. “It’s almost like if you could sing,” Richard then noted, still trying to goad his co-worker. The amusing scenes drew plenty of giggles from the audience, but Alexander refused to rise to the bait, simply giving Richard a smile in return. Meanwhile, viewers were divided over the contestants on the hit programme, with some concerned they didn’t know who the “celebrities” were. Taking to Twitter, one person asked: “Who are these people on #pointless #celebrities? Particularly #Hannah asking for a friend……” “Well #pointless celebrities has excelled itself tonight – I’ve never heard of any of these contestants!” another declared. A third agreed: “Never heard of any of them #pointless.” Conversely, one viewer shared: “Well look at that. With @Jonnyishh and now @jennarusselluk turns out I know TWO #Pointless finalists.” “Lovely to see @joanneclifton on @BBCOne #pointless you’re definitely brightening up the usual boring teatime Telly Joanne!!” another wrote. And fans continued to show their appreciation to producers, as one person praised: “@joanneclifton and @hanwaddingham on the same episode of #pointless? “Wow @richardosman you really are spoiling us.” “#pointless I enjoyed that episode a lot – great winners too,” another fan enthused. Pointless continues Monday on BBC One. Flights see thousands of passengers pouring into airports as they prepare to jet off for business or leisure. Unfortunately, with stress levels high, airports are after a place when travellers can forget normal manners. This leads to numerous passengers feeling highly frustrated when it comes to airport travel – and there’s one thing in particular that really gets to most Britons. London Stansted Airport and YouGov polled 2,000 British passengers to find out what is the most annoying airport habit. The number one most annoying thing someone can do at the airport was revealed to be jumping the queue. A whopping 57 per cent of those questioned said cutting the line was the ultimate no-no when it came to catching a flight. The second most vexing airport activity was saving seats by putting bags on top of them. Forty-one per cent of Britons surveyed hated this the most as it prevented others from sitting down. The third most irksome thing was also related to queuing – but this time those who slowed processes down. Thirty-eight per cent were frustrated by travellers who don’t have their passports and travel documents ready and hold others up. Plane passengers who don’t understand or follow the security rules vexed 38 per cent of those polled. Meanwhile, fliers who have to re-pack their bags and consequently hold up queues exasperated 34 per cent. The sixth biggest bugbear was airport travellers who rush around and bump into people. This angered 29 per cent of people. In seventh place, was 25 per cent being ruffled by those who fail to stack their trays after going through security. Seventeen per cent were annoyed with passengers who didn’t remove items which would set off metal detectors at security and therefore hold others up. Thirteen per cent were irked by those who queue at the gate ahead of a flight before it even opened. The final most exasperating activity a person can do at the airport, according to the poll, is accidentally pick up the wrong luggage. Airport staff have also revealed the weirdest things that they have ever come across at security. The list is seemingly endless, from animals and weapon lookalikes to human ashes and fireworks. One member of staff once got a terrible fright when a creepy crawly emerged. “A live spider,” they wrote. “Passenger didn’t know and it wasn’t large but he opened his bag, it crawled out, and I screamed.” The employee was not alone in bizarre discoveries. Another wrote: “There’s a lot of odd stuff found in checked baggage. Commercial fireworks, the mortars that shoot up in the sky and explode. Cops were involved. “A skinned goat skull packed on top of clothing. It had obviously missed the plane, sat for a day and that was a very bad day. Poorly sealed jars of rotting blended fish, must be a delicacy somewhere.”

If you’re frustrated at having to constantly close “we use cookies” dialog boxes on websites in the GDPR era, relief might be in sight. Opera has released an updated Android browser with an option to block cookie dialogs. Flip it on through the ad blocking settings and Opera will close as many of those intrusive prompts as it can. There’s no guarantee it will work (Opera is relying on a mix of CSS and JavaScript detection), but the company said it had tested the feature with 15,000 sites and was accepting feedback on its success rate through the beta version.
This doesn’t stop the cookies from coming through. If you enable dialog blocking, Opera will allow sites to set cookies as a matter of course. That won’t be an issue for many people, but it’s worth noting if you want to block cookies on some sites. It’s not certain how the European Union will react to Opera’s move, but it’s safe to presume that you’re consenting to cookies by enabling the option.
You’ll have more to try in the new Opera release as it is. You now have home screen shortcuts if you’re using Android 7.1 or later, and there’s now a universal text size slider on top of the existing text wrap feature. Whatever you’re looking for, Opera is once again betting that conveniences like this will draw you away from heavyweights like Chrome.

BED BUG bites can cause itchy symptoms, and may lead to red bumps and welts on the skin. But, you could also reveal your risk of a bed bugs infestation if your bedroom has a distinctive smell. Are you at risk of bed bug bites? This is how to get rid of an infestation.![]()
Airports are an easy place to lose items as passengers dash about trying to reach the corrects zones, attempt to repack bags, or are simply too jet lagged to notice missing belongings.
It would be easy to assume that if you lose something at the airport you could simply head to the lost property desk and collect the item.
However, it isn’t as simple as that – and in fact you’ll have to do something you might not realise to get your stuff back.
No matter which airport you fly from you will have to pay a service fee in order to reclaim your item.
At Heathrow, for instance, charges can be as much as £20, more if you want to include post and packaging for them to send it to you.
A child’s toy can be collected free of charge, scarves books and blankets, glasses, umbrellas, pillows will be £5, ID cards, or e-readers will be £15 while laptops, electrical items, passports, jackets will be £20.
These fees cover the cost of safely storing goods for three months – the higher price or more sensitive the item, the more personalised storage needs and therefore the more cost it takes to hold. If they have not been claimed after three months, the items are given to charity or disposed of (note – laptops/tablets/phones are cleared of data at this stage).
Even though it may seem unfair to pay to simply retrieve your own stuff, this fee covers the administration process and storage of the item.
“There are many man hours that go into collecting items from around the airport, logging them, storing securely and then ultimately reuniting them with their owners.” Marc Stewart, Director of Luggage Point, which provides a lost property service to Manchester and Stansted Airports, told Express.co.uk
“Luggage-Point need to recoup the costs of the man hours for logging/storing items and answering enquiries, ensuring items in our possession, covering rents involved as well as take into account the liability that could be incurred should an item be lost or damaged whilst in our care. This is standard across all large UK travel hubs.”
Lost property is registered within 24 and 48 hours of being found at an airport.
The item is then kept for three months (90 days) before being discarded.
This is because “there is finite storage space available,” explains Stewart.
“After three calendar months the items are sold, disposed of or donated to charity in line with the bye-laws of the airport,” he said.
“After the period of three months, the original owner can claim back any sale proceeds minus reasonable admin expenses.”
At Gatwick, if you lose something, you need to log the lost item online and the lost property office (operated by Excess Baggage Company) will then start the process of matching an item to the description you give.
They will then give you a reference number so that you can arrange for the collection of your item or organise for it to be posted to you.
At Heathrow, all items go onto a database which you can search to see if your property has been found.
A spokesman for Gatwick Airport told Express.co.uk: “As Gatwick is one of Europe’s busiest airports, there is understandably administration costs involved with processing and storing the number of items that are unfortunately left behind by our 45 million passengers every year.
“Lost property items are securely stored at the airport for a total of 90 days and, only if attempts to reunite the owner with their lost property have been unsuccessful during this period, the items are then discarded.”
However, if you lost something by leaving it on the plane, you need to contact your airline rather than the airport.
Earlier this year, a travel expert revealed the answer to never leaving anything behind while travelling.
